Guys please help!!!!

Good day house. I'm new on this platform and I must confess, it's been educating. A quick one please. I applied for Msc to study Public Affairs in NMHU in New Mexico and I got the admission. My i20 was sent in January 10th 2017 and registration was scheduled to end on the 24th of same month so I deferred till fall in August 2017. The question now is, I had initially been denied a b1b2 visa and my dad is currently a citizen of the US. He resides in Philly, which is why I didn't apply to any school there. Please hope this won't affect my procuring of the visa coz I'm at cross roads and really need advice. Thanks in anticipation for the responses.
you have nothing to fear. Just prepare your case well that's all

Hello guys, does anyone know how to set up a Skype for Business account? I have an interview with my program director in a few days. Guidelines I've seen online hasn't been helpful enough. Anyone, please?

Skype business is slightly different from the normal Skype. Download the " skype for business " from your AppStore. The lecturer would have given you a password . Just input that and you will join the room

Hi guys

I am normally just a viewer on this thread and I really think this is an extremely informative thread.

So I am supposed to resume at tippie biz school in august and I have been sent my I 20 and all.. I am on almost full scholarship and I got grad assistance of 1k a month.

I also have admission to do a finance modeling course in New York with internship with a boutique bank on Wall Street..

My problem is if I apply for my f1 visa, the earliest I can be in the US is July.. so I don't know if I shud apply for f1 visa first and then go and apply for a h1 visa for the internship prog because it starts in June..
guys advise me abeg..
First, decide on the one you want to pursue first. If it's the school your only option is the F1. For the internship, did you inform them that you were international during your application? If so, they would discus sponsorship with you, if not, forget that option

Please does anyone know universities in america that would accept 2.4 cgpa for graduate degree admission for a student from a Nigerian university and not also require Test of english results , GMAT, GRE or require translation of university transcripts by WES.
Thanks so much.

Thanks.
You seem quite knowledgeable in this. In as much as having a valid b1/B2 visa increases chances of getting the F1, would it get cancelled if somehow, the F1 is denied. I've Heard of a few peeps that had their Valid visit visas cancelled when they applied for F1 and got denied. I don't have the details tho. Just the outcome.
In my opinion, visa applications are treated differently and one shouldn't affect the other
Could you please shed more light on this?
I understand the implications of not getting stamped into the country on an F1 visa, especially when one applies for OPT. My only concern is the cancellation of the B1/B2 of something goes wrong. Is it true ? I am not being pessimistic tho.
Just need answers.

Thanks
would like to address the issue of B1 and F1 to the best of my knowledge. You can only be in a country under 1 status. You can have a valid b1 visa and valid f1. However, you can only use 1 at the moment of entry. Your status when entering determines a lot of things. If you have a b1 visa you would need to obtain an F1 visa to be able to enter as a student. Your b1 is still valid but you are coming in with F1 as a student, if you are denied F1, your b1 is still valid but you can't come in as a student, only as a visitor. If your F1 is granted. B1 is still valid. But of course by the end of your program b1 would have expired and almost irrelevant. Note: if you come in as a student, you will remain a student on F1 till you leave or change your status. All F1 rules will apply to you. If you break it. You go out of status , doesn't matter if your b1 is valid or not

Greetings to everyone!

Can someone please help a 'newbie' like me and pardon my 'Ignorance' (as my request might look stupid)

How can I get a cheap transportation to College Station in Texas. I am currently around Pearland, Houston and I seriously need advice as most fare rate I am seeing via google are higher than my pocket.

Furthermore, anyone in Houston or Texas A&M willing to give me useful info will be appreciated.

Thanks
there's a greyhound station in downtown. Take the metro from where you are. College station is a very good school congrats.

Hello and good evening

I read this thread a lot alongside the travel to Canada thread.

I do wish to study abroad for my Masters.
I have a 2.2 degree and below 3.0.

I sent a mail to a school and this is what I got?

Is it possible?
my advise : except you have a very strong GRE score. PhD is a tougher path for you with your GPA. Go for MSC. Confirm the acceptance rate of the department before you apply. Most US schools will give you hope at the beginning. Getting a rejection letter is a small piece. In searching for schools, acceptance rate is very important but then you might lots of cash and wanna try your luck.

i dont get bro, i dont think i will be helping myself if i come on this platform to tell a lie , am done with my bsc here in Nigeria, dicussed with my mom about proceeding for masters but she made me understand that she cant inveat in this country anymore that there aint any guarantee of even geting a job with all d educational expenses that if i can find my out of the country for further studies that she will fund it , and the person she spoke with made her understand that msc will be more costlier to start woth compared to bsc , stating results verification, transcripts, exams ,school fees and all that, i didnt have any information regarding traveling out , that was y i came here to make my findings. i really appreciate your reply bro
the person gave your mum a wrong information. Do research, google about things. Stop relying on what other people say. Take charge of your decisions. It's always better to do your research then ask questions when you get confused instead of waiting for people to give you the information

thanks bro,
not that i cant sit for the GRE or TOEFL or that i dont believe i can attain a high score, but i am only considering the financial aspect, as an average student i need to do some tutorials b4 i sit for the exam ,and it might not come cheap, i was only considering the undergraduate option because of the finance. the o'level issue is just what am worried about.
thanks for your reponse bro, compliments
bro this excuse won't fly. Start by telling yourself the truth. Then you can move on and plan accordingly either bsc or Msc. We all sabi as e dey go.

Thank you i'll book for 7th but arrive on the 9th (the flight is making two stops). The cheapest ticket I've seen so far is 700 thousand naira. I'm going to corpus Christi in texas , but i'm finding it difficult to get a flight going to corpus Christi airport, the few I've seen are abnormally expensive , I am seeing 3 million naira upwards. Is it ok If I choose houston airport as my point of entry to the us , will I have any problem at poe.
you can book to Houston. Then take a greyhound to corpus. It's a 3 hrs drive. I stay 45mins from corpus

Hello guys,

I want to study Software Engineering for Masters but my main graduate course is Chemical Engineering. I've sent mails to the schools I intend applying to and they said no problem I can apply.

Now, I heard this won't go down well with the US embassy because I didn't choose a course related to 'Chemical Engineering'.

I'm a self taught Web developer so I decided to study Software Eng for Masters. To be sincere, I'm not interested in any Chemical Eng 'extension course or degree'.

Do you think it's better to choose a course related to my first degree in order to be on a safer side? kindly share your advice with me. Thanks in advance.
of course. It's okay to do your masters in software. Explain using control systems engineering as well as process design and the use of Aspen HYSYS and Matlab. Sefini

Hi all. My uni (stratford uni )has refused to transfer my sevis to the CC I want to attend. In stead they are insisting that I spend at least a semester with them or else they will release it in terminated status. I've sent them emails because I'm aware that is an illegal action on their part. They insist it's their school's policy. I'm so exhausted. Please guys who has been through this before? What are my options? Thanks a lot

@ Deetus, Oluphy, Gunther6, Darefadi, Texrem and above all CALFAVOUR.

I really appreciate your feedback on my transcript

I can deduce three things wrong in my transcript now
1. Self sponsor gives a red flag
2. Not linking my study plans with my present employment
3. Not able to list out reasonable number of courses I will be doing

I have noted all these.

As for confidence, I was so confident. Looked at her eyes all thru and my voice was loud.

But this people no dey try.
I am an orphan who was opportuned have properties inherited from my parents. I also earn 210600/month (net pay). I have a flat I get rent from and 1 plot of land. Also had deed of agreement of a land I sold 2014 for 3million. I tut I was fit to sponsor myself having 7million in my acct and school fees being 4800 dollars per semester .....Never knew I needed to say all these without being asked - My bad. Guess I will add my brother to be supporting sponsor. He can provide a statement worth 20Million

Linking travel plans to work. I no try at all. I have travelled to the UK b4 and spent just 3weeks - last year May . I tut that would prove that I will come back...I f-up. To add to it, I am married with a kid which in DS-160 (Although there is no space provided in DS-160 to fill if u have a kid except u travelling with the kid)

The courses I will be doing. Kai!
Oyinbo don craze. When I gain admission for undergraduate study for Lasu, did I know any course I will be doing? Na wa oh. Na to just dey mention courses wey I do for 400level for next interview if I no remember. Lol

Please more responses cos I am already preparing for the next interview. Aja 2, gbera....As I dey drive dey come house sef, I almost bash 2 different times. God help us all.
Abeg if I am applying again, will I fill a fresh DS-160
lol... Try to be consistent u can fill a new ds-160 (confirm further)... ur previous ds-160 is linked wt ur passport already... don't lie... Thrs a place u cld av included ur dependants. When asked what u do... u also have a chain of inherited businesses whr u get income for (dt links it wt ur MBA). Other guys will g inputs
