Literature / Re: 5 Common Hurdles Every Writer Faces by oluwafemi1993: 1:58pm On Jan 12, 2017
As long as you write; whether a novel, books or even just an article, there are 5 common hurdles every writer faces. Most of the time, new breeds often get discouraged when they come in contact with such hurdle. But the already established writers see it as something common. For the sake of our upcoming writers, I will be listing and explaining about the 5 common hurdles you must likely face as a writer.

Writer’s Block: If at a point when writing, you feel like someone just opened your head and took away all valuable information as regards to what you are writing, don’t be scared, it is a normal occurrence called writer’s block. Writer’s Block doesn’t announce its coming. It comes when it feels like a most time stays there for a lengthy period of time. It is considered dangerous because if not handled properly, could lead to lack of motivation. This in turn will lead to you abandoning whatever writing project you were handling before “Writer’s Block” came knocking. Here are some tips to handle it:

Seek Inspiration from anywhere: Music, Videos, whatever you think would get you back in the mood.

Relax and Read something similar to what you are writing

Take some time off your writing project(not for long)

Great Heading/Topic: This hurdle is constant and common especially among article writers and novelists. We all know that the key to producing a good content lies on your ability to create a captivating headline. Most times I spend about 1 hour thinking and writing down various topic I believe would be great. But guess what? I end up scrapping them all. So when next you want to dump a project because you can’t find a good topic for it, I advise you to seek help from a friend. When you have like 3 – 5 ideas coming in, you can be able to select and create a super headline with ease.

Inferiority Complex: Okay; let’s go this way. You are about finishing up your “super novel” and unfortunately someone hands you over a copy of a great Author’s story. You have a good read and out of anger, you go back and tear up your work. Why? Because you feel yours isn’t good enough. Once in a while it happens, but it shouldn’t get to you. The secret to becoming a great writer lies in your ability to keep reading and writing (Like I explained at http://topwritersden.com/how-to-become-a-better-writer/). These common hurdles every writer face are only there to make you a better and stronger writer.

Criticism: As a writer, this is a hurdle you will have to keep crossing if ever you wish to be successful. After taking a whole lot of time to create a super article or novel, someone ends up calling it trash. A lot of writers have undergone the same treatment and came out successful. So why should you give up? Simply suck up the criticism and work on places that need improvement. At the end you come out a better and more sophisticated writer.

Usage of Words: You believe you have abused a particular style of writing or you really can’t find a way to express yourself differently again. You become so pissed and dump the manuscript or draft somewhere on your computer. The fact remains that every writer has a particular word that is often abused. The moment you realize that, it wouldn’t be much of a problem again as it makes you to look for ways to improve. Take out time to search for new words with the dictionary and you will be just fine.

These are the 5 common hurdles I believe every writer faces. The earlier you know it is common among every one of us, the better you find ways to overcome them.

Politics / Open Letter To PMB On The Fuel Price Hike. By. A Nairalander by oluwafemi1993: 8:09am On May 13, 2016
#ETERNAL EXCELLENCE#

An open letter to President Muhammad Buhari on FUEL SUBSIDY REMOVAL - Akinola oluwafemi(Eternal Excellence)

Your Excellency, it is with all sense of responsibilty and humility that I am writing another letter to you. Sir, this is another heart cry of Nigeria for which you were elected to respond to do.
Firstly, I want to commend you for a job well done especially on tackling corruption, the serious battle against insurgency in the North and maintaining a good stand on the fulani saga in Nigeria. For some months now,Nigerians have been complaining about the situation of the nation's economy; upsurge rise in the price of foodstuffs to an extent where 3 tomato fruits are sold for #200.A dollar is now #345 and just a day ago, it was announced that petrol is to be officially sold at #145 per litre. Just recently, the Min for Education announced that all students will be paying #45000 as fee in the university. My question is, will all these be done at the #18000 minimum wage? Because now, I can now see that the demand by NLC for increase in minimum wage to #56000 is justiafiable

Now, why the subsidy removal?
Mr President, history will repeat itself and there will be another nationwide protest as the concerned parties such as the NLC,NANS,TUC are already agitating for a reversal on the pump price or a protest if this persists.
Sir, your party kicked against this during the last administration and Nigerians thought you had a better plan but it seems we were wrong. As a matter of fact Pres. Jonathan was honest about this which we thought was not true when he first announced it on Jan 1,2012.
We do understand that the subsidy has to be removed but not until proper plan and strategy are put in place. The removal should not be sudden and must be gradual until an average citizen can bear brunt rather than suffer the cause. The environment should be favourable such as the good working conditions, smooth cash flow, food availability and affordability and this fund should be used to create more job opportunities.
Your Excellency, we will want you to reconsider your decision and strategise well so that we all can be comfortable with the removal.

Yours faithfully,
Akinola oluwafemi

Investment / Money Saving Tips: Start Saving Beyond The Rainy Day by oluwafemi1993: 3:23am On Nov 29, 2015
One of the most common pieces of financial advice is the oft repeated expression, “saving for the rainy day”. The origins of this idiom can be traced back to the 16th century making it more than five hundred years old, yet it shows no signs of losing relevance in financial lexicon. In simple terms, saving for the rainy day refers to the wise practice of keeping something aside for emergencies, unforeseen circumstances that could occur in the future. This admonition presupposes that the future is fraught with good and bad times, fat and lean seasons. In order not to be caught off guard, one needs these savings to be put to use in tough times. In other words, one should not spend all that one makes especially in times of plenty. Nowadays most financial analysts refer to these savings as the “emergency fund,” a pool of funds stored in a separate account, comprising of no less than six months of living expenses that is kept aside for unforeseen circumstances. Examples of emergencies could be sickness or disability, job loss, death of a loved one etc. It is expected that these will come in handy to help one cope with the financial pressure associated with these periods. I strongly urge you to start taking steps to create an emergency fund for yourself right away. Take out a portion of your income on a monthly and regular basis and keep it away for emergencies. This should amount to 10% of your monthly inflows. Keep it in a high-yield savings account and only draw the money in case of an emergency. Once the situation has passed, ensure to put plans in motion to replenish your emergency fund. There are so many other things that are outside the realm of emergencies that you will need the money for in the future. These needs or wants may require substantial sums which you will also have to plan and save towards. For example if you want to build a house, or take advantage of a promising business opportunity, funds are required. Since this expenditure is not based on tough situations you also required keeping aside another pool of funds. You need money to make money. Money must be put to work hard for you in order to produce more money. Just like the farmer does not eat all his harvest with a view to keeping part of it for the next planting season, so does the individual who desires wealth. Some money seeds are kept aside, apart from those meant for emergencies, and for meeting current needs and expenses. These money seeds are then planted in the soil of money-making activities to produce wealth. It is thus a very wise strategy for another 10 to 20% of one’s regular income to be kept aside for this purpose in another savings account. This leaves around 70% for the individual to live on. I know from personal experience that doing this can be quite challenging, but what is the alternative? Spending all that one makes is a recipe for everlasting poverty and penury in these times. Becoming rich takes discipline, the type that comes from undertaking this and other efforts to rescue oneself from the rat race. Saving against emergencies and saving for future investment opportunities are just two of the reasons why we all need to save. This is why it goes beyond saving for the rainy day. In fact, a more appropriate statement might be “to save for rainy and sunny days”. The former signifies tough times while the latter signifies good times, when you can use the monies saved to create further good times. Many of us miss the mark by erroneously believing that money is meant to be spent. The pressure to acquire all the finer things in life and live large is the main driver for many people. This makes people do anything to keep spending and spending even to the point of borrowing to finance their lifestyles. Money rather is meant to be multiplied instead. It is a tool meant to be put to work by you to produce more wealth. The importance of having savings for wealth- building cannot be over-emphasized, as funds saved are the raw material to be used in creating further wealth. How can you leverage on opportunity without funding? Most of the financial successes we see today started small, using their savings, building trust and credibility, growing incomes before being entrusted with other people’s money and going on to build great fortune. Great wealth starts on the altar of small beginnings. Imbibing and cultivating a savings culture is as simple as contacting your banker today and placing a standing order that a certain percentage of your earnings are transferred to another account which you would do well to restrict access to. It makes good economic sense to open two accounts – one for each savings purpose, while you do all you can to live on the rest
Don’t get too comfortable with your current earnings. Strive to increase earnings so that you will have more to save. Remember that money spent on emergencies and living expenses once gone can never be put to use again, while money invested can keep yielding more and more if the investment is done wisely. Start today to build your wealth from the ground up by saving for both rainy and sunny days!

Politics / GEJ Leads PDP Campaign Train In Bayelsa by oluwafemi1993: 3:04am On Nov 29, 2015
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has led leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from across the country to a massive rally in Bayelsa state. Governor Seriake Dickson of the PDP and Timipre Sylva of the APC are the main contenders in the Bayelsa poll. The massive rally which took place at the Samson Siasia Stadium today, November 28, was geared towards setting things in motion for the party to clinch the Bayelsa governorship election slated for Saturday, December 5. According to Leadership, those expected to grace the massive rally in company of Goodluck Jonathan are: the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum and Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, members of the party’s National Working committee, Board of Trustees, former Deputy Senate President Ibrahim Mantu, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha and PDP members of the National Assembly among others. The two main contenders in the Bayelsa poll are Governor Seriake Dickson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The political climate in Bayelsa has been tensed following accusations and counter accusations from both the Sylva/ Igiri cam¬paign organisation (SICO) of the APC and the Bay¬elsa Restoration Campaign Organisation (BYRCO) of the PDP over alleged harbouring of suspected thugs in Bayelsa Government House and plot to rig the December 5th governorship elections.
Politics / An Open Letter By A Nairalander To PMB On Fuel Scarcity by oluwafemi1993: 2:55am On Nov 29, 2015
#Eternal Excellency
An open letter to President Muhammad BUHARI

Topic:Fuel scarcity

Your Excellency Sir,ever since you have been elected to office, there have been a lot of drastic changes as you promised us.
These changes ofcourse are visible to the blind and audible to the deaf which I know that any responsible Nigerian who wish this Nation well will not deny.these are explicitly proved in your approach to tackle corruption.

At the same time,I also want to point the attention of Your Excellency to a very important situation which need urgent attention which is the fuel scarcity. The queue at filling stations which you promised us you will never allow to occur if voted in are now back.
We have forced to patronise black markets, some filling stations even sell at discriminating prices.
Workers find it difficult to be at work on time, businesses are deteriorating, the peanuts our parents have been earning as salaries is what they spent on transport fare as they have to board at dictated price, even internship students find it difficult to get to their place of training. I do not want to bore you with the resultant effects on the masses.

I and some other youths hold you in high esteem because you are a man of your word.

I can remember vividly that You sacked some board members in the oil sector which we thought was a good step but we can't see the ``change" which you promised us in that because it was after that we began to experience the irregularities in the fuel supply and prices but we hope to see the change as soon as possible.
We will be glad if this matter is addressed immediately as this will help to remove the doubts in people's mind about your administration.
Thank you.
Yours faithfully

Health / How To Deal With Skirt And Blouse Insect by oluwafemi1993: 6:10am On Nov 17, 2015
Good morning class,

Skirt & blouse is called Rove Beetles & according to research,it cause skin irritation when crushed, even partially, on the skin & it doesn't sting or bite. When d skin contact d acidic fluid of dis insect,d person shld wash d skin with lots of water & soap. because d skin irritation can lead to blister & it can affect other area of d skin, through contact with d affected part.So students are advise to be wary of this insect.for more details you can Google search.....

How can I protect myself from the effects
of Rove Beetles?

Avoid touching Rove beetles. Blow or wash beetles off
your skin. Minimise lighting in infested areas at night.
Wear long-sleeved and long-legged clothing to minimise
exposed skin. Keep insect screens closed on tents to
keep the beetles out of bedding. Have bottles of soapy
water handy for first aid. Use the buddy system to keep
a lookout for beetles on others.
If a Rove beetle is accidentally crushed against the skin,
immediately wash the affected area with soap and
water. The toxin slowly penetrates the skin. Washing
shortly after exposure will remove much of the toxin
before it has time to harm the skin.

Nairaland / General / An Open Letter To Nigerians by oluwafemi1993: 6:37pm On Nov 16, 2015
An open letter to Nigerians and nations all over d world by. "Eternal Excellency"

We Nigerians also sympathize with France but that also does not mean we should loose our dignity.
Nigeria is no subject to any country in the world.it is an aberration for Facebook to force such a post on anyone's account. How many times have they done this for any of the Africa countries that are still facing terrorism attacks.
It is what we should reflect on , u may say we are still underdeveloped, we may not be there yet but we are still getting there.
This is what we should critically look into.it is how we present our own country and continent, that is how nations over the world we see it and address us.
It's high time we began to see how important and see to value addition to our country.
It is true that we are lagging behind in advancement, that does not make us inferior to other countries in d world.
If we join hands together,we can be better than this.may be u don't know,we can do better than this rather than seeing Nigeria as a country that cannot compete with other countries.
Human beings living in France don't have 2 heads, why should they gain more attentions than Nigeria despite the ordeals we are passing through.
It is up to us as a nation that we protect our dignity and pride by showing d world that NIGERIA is truly an Independent country instead of acting like a beggar to some country who does not care about our welfare except on the platform of parasitic agreement. They will only help us unless they have a double gain from us.
Let us all wake up.

Thanks.......#Eternal Excellency
