If you want to stick to Lecturing, I will advice you do an Msc in biochemistry as someone with an Msc in biochemistry will always have an edge over someone with MSc Environmental toxicology for a lecturing position in biochemistry..

For your second question, Environmental Toxicology is very lucrative as it finds relevance both in the oil and gas sector, government agencies, Pharmacological industry,Research institutes, Waste Management agencies etc.

Go to OAU and apply for MSc Technology and Innovation Management. The sky would then be your limit.
I had 2.1 in Biochemistry too.

It's not an easy feat to graduate with a 2:1 in Biochemistry with all the pathways and all that. Since you are this good, forget all these "side" courses, focus on a MSc and PhD degree... And this sky would be your starting point. Thank me later.

All I craved for after securing admission was to start with a strong 4point cgpa, so that by all means I will graduate with an upper, but with GOD's grace and blessing I hit 4.66cgpa in my 1st year, which I never dreamt of, 4.67 in year two, and 4.68 in yr 3, now about to rock level 4 guys, need your prayers. I came to realise that with passion, persistence, persevearance, prayers/dedication, diligence, determination and devotion, which I termed (my 4 Ps&Ds), everything will very simple for u in life by God's Grace. Nothing good in life comes easy. I am working towards becoming an environmentalist. I have been doing some part time work for an environmental consulting firm and it has been challenging.

I have my eyes on Federal Environmental Protection Agency, NOSRDA, states' environmental protection agencies, national and states' emergency management agencies waste management authorities etc. Work for few years and start my own consulting firm.

You need to google the increasing number of projects requiring EIA, ERA and the rest.

Biochemistry is very wide. Do not be discouraged. Take up an option and forge ahead.
