@kunleOshob, thank you for your detailed response, but my question is this nation of church goers how often is the message of 'love' preached as the central theme of any sermon. Why so often do we concentrate on the fight against percieved evil, or the fight to better our selves on this earth, or how to stop other people committing sins, when it is clear that 'love' conquers all ills in any society |
Been up a few days and no answer, what does that say, ? This is the Ode to Love by St Paul in his letter to the Corinthians. Why do I quote this, because our churches and pastors don't, instead all they preach is fghting witches and wizards, giving tithes for material gain or how to kill homosexuals. The greatest of all is Love, |
Love is always patient and kind; it is never jealous; love is never boastful or conceited; it is never rude or selfish; it does take offence and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people’s sins but delights in truth; it is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes, , in short there are three things that last: faith, hope and love; and the greatest of these is love, All you clever people out there please tell me where this is from? |

As a previous poster said, change all naira notes below N200 to coins. We, the people will accept them.
[li]Coins are longer lasting Coins are harder to counterfeit Coins are easier to use for small regular transactions such bus conductors, recharge cards, buying small tomatoes on your way home, gala, etc[/li] [li][/li]
I remember using coins to support 'kola' in our tradition Bring back coins I say - it's nothing to do with value of money |

@chosen04 there is no doubt that members of the ruling class have done us an injustice in this country. But we have to be very careful where we point fingers. Anytime there is a riot in the street it is the poor innocents who suffer, they suffer from poverty then suffer again when attacked. It is these same people who are encouraged in name of religion to attack places of worship & schools. Meanwhile behind all this is that small cabal you talk about, believe me when I tell you that, that small cabal cuts accross national character like no other aspect of our body polity, meanwhile by virtue of western education many Southerns can try to struggle to get out of this whilst most Northerners cannot. For instance in the UK it is only southern Nigerians you see doing menial jobs trying to make ends meet, no Northerner does that type of work, why because most Northerners in UK are living large on Nigerian government money, but the majority of Northerners will never see an airport let alone travel. Whereas Southerners are able to take opportunities (except those also living large on Nigerian govt money in UK there are some of them to!!) to travel and try and make something of themselves. So let's not tar all Northerners with the same brush, but rather we may have to pity them. |
It very simple - these are premium number lines, anytime you call them you pay 5 times the normal tariff and they share the money with the telecom provider. Most countries ensure that providers of these premium services are not allowed to call or flash and get you to call back. They used to do thay big time in the UK and you could spend up £4 a minute listening to rubbish. NCC should force all providers of premium rate numbers to advertise their call charges prominently, actually in developed countries if you call a premium rate number you will get a message telling you that the call you are about to make will cost you so so amount. Also all premium number must start with the same numbers for instance in US all numbers that start 1-900 are premium rate, in UK it is 0990, other countries have their own. As usual Nigerian licensing aothorities will be so slow to catch on to this and so called entrepeurs will capitalise on our general ignorance. No be juju oh!! |
@Toba you may have a point, but remember they did not rule in isolation with military or civilian. They always had beaucrats around them who I daresay were mainly from the Southern part of the country. Obasanjo built refineries with good intentions, but who did he sell the refineries to? Please we don't need government interfering with our lives, we need government to encourage the private sector to flourish and employ people. What we have is all of us scrambling for government positions. It is wrong politics, I give you an example, how many people want to work for Nitel - a government parastal? I bet we all want to work for MTN or Globacom. Privatise the refineries, power sector, let consumers chose which services they want to pay for and let government please put legislation for fair trade practises and stop blaming tribes. There are thieves in each tribe. |
Dem no dey seize light abroad oh !!!! |
Chosen04 his people sucking the country those who loot our country cut directly across all ethnic lines. For every poverty stricken Isoko family I will show a poverty stricken Fulani family. Please we should get real and address the real concerns of no work, no industry, no light, Not worrying about where in the country they are from. Let us not behave like what happened in Rwanda and big man dey send poor man to kill demsleves all in the name of dem dey oppress us. |
