Lawyer, Godspower Egbule has said Fubara’s impeachment proceedings must strictly follow constitutional provisions, warning that court intervention at an early stage would be premature.

Egbule said, “At this point, it would be too hasty for anybody to reach the court,” adding that, “The three arms of government are circumscribed by the provisions of the Constitution.”

“It would be ultra vires for the legislature to make moves that are outside the provisions of the Constitution. It would also be ultra vires by the judge and the court to make orders that are outside the provisions of the Constitution.”

He anchored his argument on Section 188 of the Constitution, describing the impeachment process as clearly defined and sequential. “Section 188 is clear. First, a third majority, a notice of impeachment, is given to the Speaker. The Speaker sends a notice of impeachment to the governor. After that, by a motion of a third majority, that motion is now adopted by the House of Assembly and sent to the Chief Judge to set up a seven-man panel,” he said.

Angry youths in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State, on Saturday vandalised a 2027 presidential election billboard of President Bola Tinubu while protesting the abduction and killing of a young man by suspected kidnappers.

The protest followed the alleged killing of the victim, who was abducted on January 9, 2026, at Ojo Street, Ihumudumu area of Ekpoma. According to sources, the young man was kidnapped by about four assailants at the gate of his brother’s residence as he was about to enter the house.

It was further gathered that the kidnappers later killed the victim, sparking outrage among residents and youths in the community, who took to the streets to express their anger over the growing insecurity in the area.

How will you day they are not affected by the tax. The SME people will always increase goods when their house rent increases definitely. Where should they get the money to pay the increased house rent.? An employer of labour whose workers are taxed when dy are paid monthly salary will increase the cost of his goods and services so he can increase the workers salary. Itaffects everybody including the poor
I am not saying taxing is bad. But I think there could have been a better way to do this
