How the calculation works

2014:
₦1,000,000 ÷ ₦1,745 ≈ 573 bags.
A December 2014 report found cement selling around ₦1,745 per 50 kg bag in the market, although Dangote's announced factory prices were lower—₦1,000 for 32.5 grade and ₦1,150 for 42.5 grade.

2022:
₦1,000,000 ÷ ₦3,500 ≈ 286 bags.
A survey reported that a 50 kg bag was selling for about ₦3,500 in 2022.

2026:
By July 2026, reported retail prices were roughly ₦12,000–₦15,000 per bag, depending on producer and location.
So:

₦1m ÷ ₦12,000 = 83 bags

₦1m ÷ ₦15,000 = 66 bags

The striking comparison

If we use those representative prices:

₦1 million in 2014 → ~573 bags
₦1 million in 2022 → ~286 bags
₦1 million in 2026 → ~66–83 bags

So, in terms of cement-buying power, ₦1 million buys roughly 7–9 times fewer bags in 2026 than it did in 2014.

...and they said the economy is doing well.
