oluwadabira111: I think both the APC And PDP presidential candidate should be zone to the east they deserve it. They deserve it on APC how? The same way the East feels PDP insults their sensibilities talking about a northern pdp candidate is how the West would feel. Even the bible says a worker deserves their wages. |

Omenka, I hope the 2 gates to your mention are widely opened.
Because the inflow rate into your mention will be so high that the gates might end up getting severed. It wouldn't be the first time. Let them air their views, and if nee be, vent their frustrations as well. I'd take no offence on this one. |
Politics › Raw Truth About The South East And 2023 by omenka(op): 12:57pm On Jul 08, 2020 |
I come in peace.
Earlier today, news broke of the PDP leaders from the East blasting the former governor of Benue state, Gabrial Suswam, over his comments regarding the zoning of the party's presidential ticket in 2023. This has necessitated me to pen this down.
It is no longer news permutations of who succeeds Buhari or flies what party's in 2023 is well under way even though were barely a year into the second term of the current presidency. Wierd as it may seem, Nigeria operates a very unique political environment wherein preparations for the next general elections is kickstarted by politicians the very moment one is dispensed with, the result of which, most times, is an overheating of the polity and a derailment or distraction of the incumbent administration.
At the forefront of this is the question about the future of the South East, a political block inseparably committed to the protection and sustenance of the PDP- a commitment it has demonstrated for over two decades. Now, for such an unwavering loyalty to a course, it is only just and logical that a handsome reward be given them. In the East, it hardly matters what candidates comes forward, but as long as it isn't a PDP candidate, they'd surely have an Evarest to climb to succeed.
The same is true for the APC and South West (although sentiments in the West have some stark contrast to those in the East, as the West is more likely to be swayed by the candidates than it is the party).
The question then arises: would the PDP really risk ceding their ticket to their poster region, the South East?
This writer thinks it is patently unlikely that is gonna happen, even though no one else deserves it more. Here is why:
The ruling APC is poised to cede their ticket to the South West as a demonstration of gratitude for their support. With the help of Buhari and other die hard political offsprings of his (I say this because alone, he might not be able to pull off what he did in the past. His image has no doubt suffered some degree of damage in the North, no thanks to the ongoing security challenges), and some governors (since their fate is inseparably tied to the fate of the party), the APC remains a formidable force in the North and they're likely to still vote for the party come 2023. In addition to that, APC still enjoys popular support in other Swing States like Niger, Kwara, Nasarawa and indeed Kaduna. The West No doubt would as well vote the APC given that their son or daughter is flying the banner.
With these in mind, what exactly would the chances of a candidate of South East extraction be? The entire South East and a good chunk of, if not 90%, the South South, can't see to the ascendency of candidate East on a PDP banner. It therefore, if my thinking serves me right, might be a defeatist strategy for the PDP to even tinker with such an idea. And frankly, you can not blame them.
As a matter of fact, it is far more likely for a candidate to emerge from the West on a PDP ticket than it is from the East given the current realities on ground- sad but true. Especially when the incumbent party is taking hers to the West. If I might add, irrespective of what PDP makes its mind up on, the APC's ticket is going West.
In addition, the party's outlook on an Eastern candidate isnt helped by the activities of IPOB, an idea some power blocks imagine is being tacitly accented to by the leaders in the East due to their reluctance to openly castigate those behind such agitations.
So ladies and gentlemen what, in your opinion, do you think is truly the chances of the East clinching the party's ticket given that it appears the leaders of the party in the region are surreptitiously demanding for it?
Cheers. Cc: Mynd44, Lalasticlala, Dominique, Seun.

Fear not anyone's interpretation. If you know one, simply suggest one. Me for instance, find Ribadu beat suited to take Magu's place and see Ken Nnamani (if my memory serves me well - the man who bleeped Obj's third term agenda up) as a very honest man. So, just mention a justice you might have in mind who could do a better job bro. |

There are better justices with proven integrity, I wonder why the choice of Ayo Salami for an administration touting anti corruption.
Ayo Salami should immediately rescue himself from that panel. It is RECUSE not RESCUE. Meanwhile, could you name one of those "justices with proven integrity" you talk about? |

Till then we will accept that all your obsession with Tinubu today is borne of nothing but jealousy and envy for the Yorubas and the great leaders they produce effortlessly while you continuously churn out greedy, worthless and totally incompetent clowns you disgrace yourselves parading as 'leaders'. They're always on about Tinubu, so so shameless. Let them tell us any Ibo politician that has boys outside their extended family. Rubbish. |

BBBmalll25: Let Settle This One And For All. Like For Magu Share For Sahara News You guys see. Back some years ago, pdp supporters hated Sahara reporters with deadly passion and often called them an APC tool. They often desired to have Sowore's head on a spike, but we insisted the outfit was an indispensable tool in bringing probity to government. They singlehandedly exposed Stella, Patience, Alison, etc. Today, the same pdp supporters are falling in line grovelling before SR becaus3 they think it's combating a government they love to hate, notwithstanding how they hated same SR few years ago. Like I said two days ago and will still say now, irrespective of what transpires, some of us, myself the very first on the list, will continue to see them as one of Nigeria's best anti corruption crusaders. I honestly wish they can expose more rot in the system. It is beyond politics, it's about what's good for Nigeria. May God continue to bless Sowore even though politically I didn't support him. |
