That man hasn't the faintest of the faintest idea on how to solve any of the country's problems. Whatever happened to fixing the Unis already on ground? What are their conditions? What is the rationale behind building new schools if one can't maintain those that exist?

Only in the land of mumudom can one find such absurdities.

Am from ondo state and the man did well. R.I.P agagu
Can't believe a Nigerian just called building of boreholes "massive transformation"!!!

These are the kind of people that make us produce one mediocre after another as leaders. God forbid.

I don't know much about the man's stewardship, but I know 99.8% of politicians in this country are crooks whose actions and inactions have resulted in the death of countless number of men, women, and children! They are so horribly corrupt they even steal grandpa's little stipend (pensions) meant to keep body and soul together. I have no iota of sympathy for anything that befall them.

To Agagu, I pray he gets what is due him according to his deeds while alive.

This is exactly what we've always insisted on here time and again. Thank God some people in the ND still got some brain. Amaechi has every right to vote and be voted for in any election.

Politics › Re: Sen. Bukola Saraki’s Security Withdrawn by omenka(m): 10:57pm On Sep 08, 2013
Let the state sponsored security of all elected officers be withdrawn. Their lives are no more precious than that of regular nigerians who bust their humps on the streets day after day to make ends meet.
There are countless number of private security firms out there. They can go hire some personnel if they want personal security, no one can deny them that, even celebrities do.

My only problem is that, as everything else with PDP style politics, these withdrawals we've been hearing about lately are all selective and done with utter prejudice. What is sauce for the goose must be sauce for the gander.
@Topic.

Here we have it. The truth and the "real mission" as revealed by the direct 'representatives' of GEJ. Now you have the glaring confession that we are not dealing with oil theft but with "resource control". I think, for those not dishonest and totally amoral, it is crystal clear what GEJ is abetting. Now, his concession of pipeline protection contracts to militant warlords makes perfect sense
Now looks more like "concession of exclusive thieving rights" to his kinsmen. Jonathan is a monumental fraud!!

“I hate to hear the word ‘oil thieves or oil theft’
because the people you want to label as thieves
are simply trying to make use of their God-given
resources. In other words what they are doing is
the legitimate ‘resource control’ that we have
been talking about.
“The truth of the matter is that the Niger Delta
people are simply controlling their resources and
not stealing any oil,”

Just listen to that!!!!
This is what you get when you have a disfunctional and accutely irresponsible government in place.

This criminal just told the government in other words "yes I'm one of those responsible for the much talked about oil theft, a crime against the State, what can you do about it??". And guess what, the government is gonna , in their usual character, look the other way!

As long as the PDP remains at the center, charlatans and bandits like this will continually ply their criminal trade with impunity.

On another note, imagine what news would have made the rounds had Boko Haram accepted amnesty and then we read a headline like "Ex terrorist backs Buhari for presidency"! Your guess is as good as mine.

Politics › Winners Chapel Workers Fight Ogun State Tax Men by omenka(op): 9:30pm On Sep 06, 2013
The Living Faith Church Worldwide, known as Winners Chapel, is in trouble with the Ogun State Government, following an accusation of tax evasion and alleged violent attack on officials of the state government who were at the church premises to effect the payment of outstanding taxes. The outstanding taxes cover six years according to Ogun officials.

The church is owned by one of Nigeria’s most influential and controversial cleric, David Oyedepo, who is also considered one of the richest clerics globally and who through hus church owns three private jets.

The taxes are allegedly owed by a school, Kingdom Heritage Nursery School, belonging to the church. The school, a private school, is located within the church’s headquarters in Ota.

The Ogun State Government addressing a press conference on Friday showed a video to journalists in which the tax officers were seen being assaulted and detained for three hours by staff of the school.

The chairman of the Ogun State Internal Revenue Service, Jide Odubanjo, explained that the service has the statutory power to access and inspect financial records in the premises of any business located within the state. He added that the recent inspection was in line with the state’s drive to ensure compliance with extant tax laws and enforcement initiatives undertaken daily across the state.

He said that it was in view of these that tax officials visited the school on Thursday, after several reminders to offset the debt were ignored by the authorities.

Mr. Odubanjo expressed shock at the behaviour of some staff of the school which led to the assault of the officials.

“As a result of this incident, an officer of the Ogun State Internal Revenue Service is currently hospitalised in Ilaro while others with minor injuries have been treated and discharged. Additionally, a number of assets belonging to (the) Service were damaged beyond repair,” Mr. Odubanjo said.

He noted that it was the intervention of the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, of Onipanu in Ota Division that led to the release of the allegedly detained tax collector by the school and church staff.

The chairman, accompanied by three commissioners in the state during the press conference, said a formal complaint has been lodged with the police, stressing that government would not tolerate any form of violence against any of its officers or agent in the lawful discharge of their duties. He added that the state government would bring criminal and civil charges against all the perpetrators of the incident and ensure that they face the full wrath of the law.

“We condemn in the strongest terms any act of violence perpetrated against officers in the discharge of their legitimate duties. It is shocking and disheartening to see uniformed officers of OGIRS being violently assaulted. We view it as the height of irresponsibility and lawlessness for any person or group of persons to assault government officials who are performing their lawful duties,” he said.

The school authorities as well as the church are yet to react to the tax and violence claims of the Ogun government while the police said they are already investigating the attack.

“We are aware of the assault on officials of Ogun state Internal Revenue Service. The case was reported at Onipanu police station in Ota and we are going to investigate the matter thoroughly,” the Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, told PREMIUM TIMES.
