KushSpatacus:Are you for MSc or PhD? dont loose hope yet, it may be that they are sending it in batches. Has anyone for PhD received invite yet? |
cokeryusuf09:Did you apply for an academic or non academic role? I don't think they have sent invite to those who applied for non academic roles in UNILAG |

Where is my seat? I want to learn from the elders. The education system of this country have tired me |
I just watched the video and I felt Prof. took it too far and personal. He didn't give the lady an audience. He was right in a way but he would have just warned her and move on instead of creating a scene about it. Prof. Wood hasn't changed o. I remember taking his course in chemistry dept. In 100level many years ago. I thought he has retired before seeing this video. |
LordIsaac: DOB is included in the academic transcript I got from my sch. |
The implication is that they will start another session afresh, simple! |
I am also in the same shoe. Done with course work, project and we were to defend our MSc dessertation before the strike. I was planning to continue with my Ph.D. here in Nigeria as soon as I am done but the strike made me change my mind of doing Ph.D. here in Nigeria. I hope the strike will be called off asap to get my transcript and seek for Ph.D. scholarship abroad. I couldn't imagine that I will spend 4years plus( Covid and 2-time ASUU strike) for MSc. It is only God that can help us in this country |
Chibuking81:For some schools, it's 4.0/5.0 Unilag for instance. Op needs to do some findings about schools especially in the north and some S.E, S.S schools that admit with 3.5 or do MPhil first in schools with 4.0 requirement |
I wish every Nigerian students can get their PVC and have one voice to vote in the right person. |

Let's hope for a positive outcome this time... |
Amadosibina:I don't think there is a specific format for interview. You will likely face a panel of 3 or 4. The head of the panel is likely to be a Prof/Senior lecturer, not sure if others were lecturers or PTDF staff. Try to understand the content of your SOP well and possibly the relevance of your intended research area in the Oil and gas sector. Be bold and give convincing answers. Best of luck! |
anochuko01:You are very right bro, but a circular should have been sent through AGO admin to pastors to address it. Anyway, I believed he has learnt his lesson and has apologized. I was not surprised though from the type of person I have observed him to be. I pray he works more on himself as God helps him(Pastor Leke I mean) |
Waoh! This is so timely for me. Thanks for sharing! |
I am interested |
Pls kindly help me too for the class Id and password, I need to do a check on my MSC thesis. solotosin6@gmail.com Thanks |
Since you already have a passion for lecturing, why not go for the lecturing job. You will have more time for yourself compared with factory work as you also continue to build a career in that line. You may also pursue your MSc with time as you continue to grow in the lecturing path. The monetary gain may not be encouraging at the onset but you won't regret the decision if you remain diligent and focused. My 10k advice |
Well said Prof. I knew it is more of politics and selfish interest to claim that Universities are not safe to open now when some schools are already adopting virtual learning system. We should instead learn to adjust to the new normal instead of keeping students at home forever waiting till when we begin to record zero case of the pandemic. |
lkillbrokehoes:What if he Cant afford running MSc abroad? |
Chibex, how are you sure Unilag wont sell forms next year. Want to know because someone intends picking Ph.D form next year. Almost founding off with MSc which should be concluded early- mid next year |
If I were you, I will stick to the private school, enrol for ph.D from next year as planned(which d private uni already places a redflag on for 3years) and have my ph.D while still working in d private sec.school. I can then decide to switch to public university later if I want. Listen to your father and ignore what your fiancee is saying. If it is a fed. Uni maybe, it would have been better. My 1cent |
IamDavid:I am presently pursuing a pg (MSc) program in the sciences with intention of going into Academics. Will continue with Ph.D immediately as I pray to get absorbed as an AL if am through with d MSc program. Though I made a 2.1 for my BSc but what I will advise you is to go for your MSc instead of starting over afresh but put in your very best to come out with distinction if possible or at least 4.0 on a grade of 5.0 I have course mates at msc level came out with 2.2 in their BSc and doing well in their MSc program. Once you have your Ph.D, most people don't really care what grade you came out with in your BSc. But if you apply for an assistant lecturer position with someone that have the same MSc grade with you but with BSc 2.1, he maybe considered before you except you one or more publications in reputable journals than he or she does. Bottom line is that you go ahead with MSc and aim for excellent result/grade and work towards publishing in reputable journals plus God's favour. Cheers. |
Asking if there is a score like 5point There is a mark range (over 100%) for each grade point For instance, mark range for 5.0 grading system is as below Mark %. Grade point 70-100. 5 60-69. 4 50-59. 3 45-49. 2 40-44. 1 0-39. 0 Someone who scores from 70 and above for instance has 5point in a particular course. Someone with 3point scores btw 50-59 and so on. These are multiplied by coure units added together and divided by the no of courses taken to determine the CGPA for a semester or session and so on. I believe you will understand better how CGPA is being calculated by the time you enter school |
Canih28:Grading system varies depending on Universities but the most common is the 5.0 grading system. Am not sure the one UNN adopt but UI was using the 7.0 grading system and read not long about changing to the 4.O system which I Cant confirm now if it has been implemented. The school where am presently running my MSc adopts the 5.0 grading system as below: 4.5-5.00 First class 3.5-4.49. 2.1 2.40-3.49. 2.2 1.50-2.39 Third class 1.00-1.49 pass But you need to confirm the grading system used in your proposed school I hope this helps |
Bifrost:You really nailed it. I did Geology in UI for my BSc, even though I had an average GP in my 100level due to some reasons but thank God for one of my seniors who was then a level higher who motivated me. I studied harder in subsequent levels and came out with 2.1 I am at d mid-stage of my research work for my MSc in Geology in one of the top fed. Universities in the southwest. The truth is Geology is not for lazy students and for you to come out with a good grade, first develop passion for the course because many easily loose interest when you begin to go indepth as you progress. The stress of fieldwork(individual and group) is another area that make the coirse look stressful and tedius but become fun and like adventure for those who already have passion for it. But try as much as possible to come out with 2.1 if not first class as this may pave way more easily in the labour market or some scholarship. The bottom line is to also try as much as possible to develop yourself, try to know beyond what you are taught in class and leave the rest for God. Geology is a professional course with different areas of specialization but will be hard for lazy students to cope in. My 1cent |
