Please, is it still advisable to consider Estonia as destination for my PhD?
I have wife and son in Nigeria but doing my Msc in China currently. I am projecting for future because I am looking for a way to leave this place after msc and settle down.
Is it advisable to consider Estonia couple with the fact that i will love to settle there after my PhD

Also, what is the standard of living monthly as i am not sure I can save more that 1million naira during this msc program because i am on scholarship.

I hope it is not difficult to secure job because I will love to invite my wife and kid after some months there

Kindly give advise please
Estonia is very good for PhD. They have a good number of research opportunities and they seem to have incentive or monetry supports for doctoral students. You should consider your research are and see which university offers such. Also check what other opportunities does doing your work their bring to you.

Apart from the cold weather, Estonia has decent affordable standard of living.

As for job, IT jobs are more popular but depends on your study area you might find more positions to work in schools as a researcher or even as lecturer. It may be more competitive but generally Estonia is livable if you want to integrate and stay for a while.

Try to read more from studyinestonia website.

So I have finally landed in Estonia. Actually landed a week ago but couldn’t gather myself to write this message. I went through Turkey and it was quite smooth. Traveled with a child and we spent approx 1.2M for the entire process including flights and visa fees. I am certain it will be cheaper for most people because your flights can be cheaper. Our flight fees were most expensive cos I had to fly business class because of the comfort for the child. I’d itemize most of the fees I can remember.

Flight to Abuja, Uber to the visa center, $250 visa fees for 2 people and miscellaneous= 200k
Return Flight to turkey: 700k
9 nights at Hotel: 52k
Food and transport: 51k
Estonian Visa: 40k
Flight to Estonia: 212k
Total: 1,255,000

My Estonian visa was approved within 5 days. Submitted on a Monday and collected the passports on a Friday. No serious questions were asked. If you are interested in applying for turkey visa, you can reply my comment. I will write all what I went through there so that you don’t have to waste money like I did. Photocopying 1 page is 100naira there. Printing of 1 page is 1k. They just extort people a lot there.

Also, I got insurance for myself and child for 39k valid for a year. You don’t have to do swisscare or any expensive insurance. The name of the insurance I used is Axa Mansard.

If you are going through turkey, I can recommend the hotel I stayed. The hotel manager speaks English and can help pick you up from the airport at a cheaper price than what taxis charge, breakfast is free and it’s approx 5500 per night. The room can perfectly sleep 3 adults cos there are 3 beds in it. The name is Lion city hotel. Reply this if you need the hotel managers contact.
Thank you for submitting this report here. I want to ask, what are the required documents that was needed to get Turkish visa? Do you have to get a letter from work or from school or the likes before you got their tourist visa? Thank you.

Good day everyone,

I'm applying for 3 years BSC/BA with my HND (PAD) at Tartu University,
Please what are my chances? help me with any tips or suggestions, I'll really appreciate..

My field is Political Science or any related course(such as politics & governance, international relations, pub admin)
I would advice that you write directly to the university or the program contact. So they can tell you. Usually when you apply for bachelors degree you only need your o level result waec neco etc. But maybe having an hnd might give a better opportunity.

Please someone experience should help me with the part “Ideas for masters thesis “ I’m bit confused because how will I structure the ideas like will put them understand headings such as
Methodology
Objective or research
Conclusion etc...... or I will just talk abt the ideas briefly without going deep in it.

Please someone experience at this should explain?
I don't think it has to be super comprehensive (remembering you have limited number of words to write). One full paragraph should do.

Look at a topic related to course you want to study. Write how passionate you're about the topic, and what outcome and impact you think it would make to you, the university, the department, and/or Nigeria and/or Estonia when you finished that research work.

Egypt seems to be the only option for now. As there seem not to be appointment dates for now in Turkey. Although Egypt as well might take time. Israel is another route but very expensive.
Thank you @grandfleets I have heard about Israel route, but how do you mean expensive. Is it their visa fee or just flight, accommodation and so on?

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Nnpc Job Scam Alert! by omitobi: 7:05pm On Apr 04, 2019
Thank you good people, this same Mr Sunday claimed to be a former Quality Control Analyst posted to NNPC Portharcourt also called my fiancée telling her to call one Madam Stella (08035573817) for job opportunity. He told her that she would help her work it out so she could be qualified (even though she's passed the age that NNPC accepts).

This Mr Sunday gave the address of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) at 5/7 Koffo Abayomi Street Victoria Island, Lagos (I put this address here so Google can cache this text and save innocent people of being trapped)

Immediately I was told I knew it's a SCAM.

Here are the things that made me suspect this call:

1. NNPC (A big industries that people crave to work for)
2. The names given are First name without Surname
3. She was told that the information on the website of NNPC is for general and the one Madam Stella is able to do is not publicised
4. He refused to explicitly explain how they met
5. When ever scammers says, call this person for more information they often do that do develop a non-suspicious relationship with their victim
6. No email contact, no website.

Be aware that these people do a lot of research before calling you (only few ones call at random) - they use facebook, your phone numbers, email address and any information that you allow to litter around: reason why its not good to randomly put your contact information everywhere you go, on every website, not even on Facebook (it can be hidden).

Do I have to create an account on dreamapply before payment of application fee? Where do I even get the account number to pay to? (university of Tallinn). Do we pay using the interbank bank or black market rate.. Everything is just confusing.
I would say you should just write to (or call) the school to confirm, or if anyone with experience about it may answer. And by the way did you find anywhere in dream apply where you can pay? What I know is that you can only (based on my experience) apply to Estonia Universities by Dream apply.

. Does tallinn university accept document stating your previous studies was in English ?
Sorry if I may answer your question ( most likely they don't) because, they need IELTS (or other acceptable English Language scores), at least I know this for University of Tartu. The reason I say this is so that you can find it easy to decide and save time. Others can say if its different

stuck between these two visa as a Bsc student. THE D VISA which could be downloaded and filled with a pen and THE SCHENGEN VISA which could be filled online with 13 pages. i have read previously that Bsc doesnt qualify for the schengen visa but yet previous post suggest this 13 pages of forms must be filled (mandatory)

would it be okay to download fill the D visa form and ignore the 13 pages of forms that needs to be filled online?
Ahm I would suggest that you stick to D-Visa because it is a long stay Visa and In order to avoid any kind of trouble waiting for your TRP you, it's the safest option. Don't worry, you can already fill the form on paper and prepare necessary documents to take to the embassy. Just a note, I think type C which is short stay is given to tourists, and be careful to get your Visa from the Estonian embassy, not from other embassy which is not Estonian so you can get a longer one.

Thanks to good brothers here. pls I want to know the estimated amount an undergraduate must posses for the TRP. or an amount that has to show on the bank statement of his sponsor.
Thanks
Striker9 has talked a lot more about it. But my perception is that there must be regular meaningful inflow of money per month into the account. And I think there is no particular amount that is necessary but of course if the sponsors account can have up to a million, then it will be nice but I pretty sure that just dumping one million for example into an account that keeps only hundreds or tens of thousands might be a bad idea.

Hello All,
Please I need clarification. Well pardon me if my questions do not really make sense. I just need to know.
I applied for masters in euro academy, I need to know:

1) if my admission will still be valid if I'm unable to pay the 300€ before the due date. ie I intend making payment after the due date cos of certain ish.

2) do I need to authenticate my certs at MOE and MOF if I'm using a Schengen Visa.

3) what kind of Schengen Visa is best to apply for.

Thanks.....
1. Personally, I would advice that you talk to the school in order that you may get first hand information specific to your case. @demaejy is a living testimony of issues related with admission at euro Academy and what helped him was his consistent communication with the school so much that when there was almost a trouble, he was able to use their mail as a point of reference.

2. I don't really know about certificate Authentication.

3. For study, Sheng hen visa D type is the best, and this can only be issued by Estonian embassy herself, so for example Belgium embassy cannot do that for them. And it would be their discretion to give you the one that would be sufficient before getting trp. If you read between the line, remember, Estonian embassy not vfsglobal.

I can say one of the best thing is to ask the school you are applying to perhaps they can give you an hint (if you are going based on academic) . Sorry I couldnt help more than this.

Please do to be at the safer side.
Actually I don't think you have anything to do with o level again if you are going for masters, just your uni transcript. To be safer like Godfavourme said, just do it. However you can be much safer if you asked the school you are applying to, at least, you can save the stress of trial and error.
TravelRe: Lets Talk About Estonia by omitobi: 11:16pm On Sep 30, 2016
@house, I see many euro academy and EBS students, just to contribute: if you are applying for euro Academy to be precise, keep applying even if the deadline is looming, as someone said your application will be placed with more priority for the next admission even if you don't meet up this time but it's best to keep up communicating with the school for reliable info. I think @demaej can speak more about it.

@all again, I saw question about job: as I once said, Estonia is IT but I wouldn't doubt the possibility of getting other jobs in order to find a career here because I can see some people do it. However, Estonia is in Europe and you know what opportunities that exposes you too... Researches, innovations, and the lots in Europe; if your course is research based perhaps that could open the door for you.

Trust in God, and don't be too wise with Him: He will direct your path when you commit your ways into His hands.

Apologies I have not come a long time to check how my brothers and sisters are doing, I will try my best to give my outdated answers cheesy but, see you in Estonia. smiley

Sorry!! What do you mean by under the same Profile and other schools will get it somehow How??
Estonian schools uses a single application system called dreamapply. Your profile and your academic info and some other ones, once they are filled it can be accessible by any school you applied to. But of course It should be safer to inform the school if you have sent your documents to other school so nothing is missed along the line.

Sorry for my mislead. Estonia is being represented by Belgium..

I got this piece of information when I made enquiry on Latvia visa

Thank you for writing to us at info.swedenng@vfshelpline.com .

Kindly be informed that ,we would like to know if you are applying for student visa to Estonia or visit to Latvia to be able to advice you.

Please note that , it is only a short stay visa that can be issued by Belgium Embassy on behalf of Estonia and not Latvia/Sweden.

Hence ,if you wants to apply for Latvia, we give Latvia/Sweden requirement and if Estonia, then Belgium embassy.

Follow this link http://www.vfsglobal.com/Belgium/Nigeria/study.html for more information .

Follow this link https://www.vfsglobal.se/Nigeria/Visa_Types.html , you can forward your mail to the Sweden Embassy on migration.abuja@gov.se or ambassaden.abuja@gov.se for more information for study .
I remember that this is true. But I am not sure this process is straight forward giving that Belgium embassy don't receive visa application directly instead through vfsglobal and vfsglobal represents some other ones as well. And truthfully it's only shortstay visa (type C Shenghen ) visa that they issue on behalf of Estonia. So it's quite tricky, I believe the person in need of this info is ready to make right decision concerning his/move to Estonia. If the person is coming for study, just like the student coordinator for University of Tartu would say, "From our experience, it's very rare that people would be able to come to Estonia via type c visa. It's rather advisable to travel to the Estonian embassy near you"

There is something wonderful about Estonia that we are enjoying right now: it is the gradual integration with this wonderful country which to me has great potential. As an African, if you know you are going to be in Estonia for study, don't feel alone, if you need any help that can be rendered to you as you come or to settle down, there is Association of African Students (AASE) already recognized in Estonia (more popular in Tallinn University of Technology) and also represented in other school. Should you have need of any info you can check http://www.aaseesti.com/ then contact the right person. If you will be coming to university of Tartu as an African student you may contact me too... See you in Estonia smiley

10 working days but tell them two weeks. when is your Estonia embassy appointment date. A brother of mine said its possible to go and extend date when you get there. What you will need is letter from Estonia embassy that your visa will be ready at a date latter than the date when your visa will expire, they may give you. Nothing is impossible my sister
Estonian embassy will try all possible means to ensure your get your visa to Estonia before the end of your India visa so don't worry about extending it. In fact @Demaejy can tell you an exceptional story. Also You can also get your visa within two working days in India depending on your situation.. smiley
