Pls send her back to nigeria... In 48hrs she will learn respect
What if in Nigeria she's taken advantage off (e.g., raped, kidnapped, etc) which could happen due to several reasons such as (I) the general insecurity in Nigeria (2) the fact that she would immediately be different from other kids around her (with her American accent, etc) and (3) her attitude of always showing off and drawing attention to herself? I am sure the parents don't want to do something that they would eventually regret.

FamilyHelp!!! Their Tenage American Daughter Is Getting Out Of Control by omongbatim(op):
They have a teenage daughter, 12 years old. She is very smart (academically), topping her class and in several US national exams at the 90 percentile. But that is where it ends. Attitudinally she would be at the 40 percentile. She is disrespectful to her parents and her teachers. She is naïve about life and how difficult it can be to go far in life with an attitude that puts other people off. She is talkative (show off) and disruptive, always drawing attention to herself.

Here are some additional details about the kid:

American Born
Facially cute
Never been to Nigeria
Only daughter
First of three children
Parents are upper middle-class and practically dot on her as an only daughter
She is provided with virtually anything she asks for. This has led to some level of vanity in her lifestyle.
Both parents suggest that they have had reasons to exhibit pride at some point in their lives - for different reasons - but never allowed that get into their heads. They hope her undesirable attitude is not an inherent thing, but one borne out of the biological life stage she is in now.

Please advise!!! How can the parents help her from self-destructing? As you may know, physical discipline (flogging, etc) is out of the question. This is America, not Nigeria.

Op, your analysis about Howard County is true except that not all of the Nigerians there are "polithiefcians:. American Nigerians including those who made their names in America, without any financial connection to Nigeria, live there. I know one Igbo man who is a senior university prof in one of the Maryland unis. He bought a house there which he would probably pay for for the rest of his life. Lol. He and his nurse wife earn about 180K basic per annum combined.

PoliticsFasola's Confession About Aba by omongbatim(op): 9:09pm On Apr 06, 2016
I love Aba, it reminds me of my past says Fashola

Aba, the commercial headquarters of Eastern Nigeria, is one town that has made impact in the life of great and ordinary men in our society.

One of those great men in our society today who is great full to Aba for the industrious and never-die spirit it instilled in him is former governor of Lagos State, and the current Minister for Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Raji Babatunde Fashola.

Fashola confessed how much in love he is with Aba and how the commercial city helped in moulding his self-reliance spirit when he received the Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu in his office in Abuja.

"I love Aba. It reminds me of my past. I used to go to Ariaria market to buy tie. I know Aba has great potentials. When I used to play football, the East was one place I visit often. I will be glad to visit Aba." Fashola said.

Even My Husband Calls Me, “Kabiyesi” – Regent Of Akure

KabiHer Royal Majesty, the Regent of Akure kingdom in Ondo State, Dr. Mrs. Adetutu Adesida-Ojei has said that even her husband calls her, “Kabiyesi,” as a sign of respect for the throne and in recognition of her current status.

The Regent stated this when a team from National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) South-West Zonal Office paid her a courtesy visit at the palace, Friday, February 14, 2014, to commiserate with the entire royal family on the passing on of Oba Adebiyi Adesida; and also to intimate the Regent on the Institute’s presence in Akure and its activities in the zone since its establishment in 2009.

The monarch expressed satisfaction with the team’s visit, just as she thanked them for the show of love, appreciating and praying God to grant NICO more grace and enablement to work towards upholding Nigeria’s culture, and adding that Yoruba culture is one of the richest cultures in Nigeria.

Earlier in his address, the NICO South-West Zonal Coordinator, Mr. Ohi Ojo said the essence of the visit was to congratulate the Regent on her ascension to the throne of her fore-fathers and introduce the Zonal Office of the Institute, which covers Ogun, Osun, Oyo, Ekiti and Ondo States with the zonal head office in Akure, Ondo Sate.

While conveying the condolence message of the Institute, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, the Zonal Coordinator informed the Regent that NICO has the mandate to promote and preserve Nigeria’s cultural heritage, recalling that the Institute had had a very good working relationship with the late monarch, her father.

The visit to the palace gave NICO staffers the opportunity to have firsthand information on the regency stool during an interview with the new regent and other prominent chiefs-in-council, who were around to throw more light on questions regarding the enthronement of the regent.

During the interview session with Nico news, the Regent disclosed that some of the challenges of regency include the inability to attend Council of Obas meeting, as well as missing her private life.

According to her, as a public figure, any issue concerning her is brought to the public domain, but acknowledged that the challenges were not insurmountable as members of her Council of Chiefs were always there to offer advice and suggestions when necessary.

When asked further if her marital status posed any challenge to her performance, the Regent stated emphatically that though she is married to a non-indigene, there was already a mutual understanding with her husband, Mr. Dike Ojei, an indigene of Delta State, before they were married, adding: “I already told him that I was a princess and that there is a possibility of me becoming a Regent someday; so, there isn’t much challenge. When he comes here, he will address me as, Kabiyesi, because when I am on the throne, he is assumed to be like one of my subjects. In fact, each time we talk on phone, he addresses me as, Kabiyesi.”

On hand to receive the NICO team were High Chief Oloyede, High Chief Rotimi Olusanya, High Chief Elerikan, High Chief Olusoga, the Lisa of Akure Kingdom and other palace chiefs.

It would be recalled that Dr. Mrs. Adetutu Adesida was made the regent of Akure kingdom on the 29th of December, 2013, after her father, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adebiyi Adesida joined his ancestors on the 1st of December, 2013.

In the entourage of the Zonal Head were Head, Admin & Human Resources, Mrs. Adesuwa Eze; Head, Budget, Mrs. Funlola Owan; Head, Orientation & Cultural Affairs, Mrs. Ruth Oyenekan; Personal Assistant to the Zonal Head, Mrs. Ogechukwu Nwokorie; Head, Research & Documentation, Mr. Chris Sodje; Head, Audit, Mr. Mohammed Babangida; Head, Corporate Affairs, Mr. Ogaga Anakpoha; and Head, Finance & Accounts, Mr. Sola Idris.

CultureCan one of These Igbos Become The New Deji Of Akure? by omongbatim(op): 8:43pm On Apr 06, 2016
So the Deji of Akure is died and his first daughter becme the regent.
However, the new regent is married to an Igbo man from Delta State and they have Igbo-Yoruba children
Can one of these Igbo children become the Deji of Akure at some point, or will tribalism be used to play them out? grin grin grin grin grin

Or is the regent already no longer a regent at this time and has since been replaced by a true Deji (male, 100% Yoruba)? Just curious

God bless beautiful Madam Tolu Ojo with her wonderful smiles, and speedy recovery to her.

PoliticsRe: Oba Of Lagos’ Bombshell: I Shared Abacha’s Bribe To Yoruba Monarchs by omongbatim: 1:01pm On Sep 24, 2014
Gbawe: A lot of people are actually ignorant about the administrative brilliance and vision of Tinubu that Fashola eventually went on to gain credit for. Like you, I also admire Fashola but I rate Tinubu highly too because he was an all-rounder who overcame extreme federal government resistance to still be, for those aware of the full picture, the brain and brawn behind the success of contemporary Lagos.

Could Fashola have survived the persecution of the ultra-vengeful OBJ if he were in the shoes of Tinubu back then? I seriously doubt it. Only the analytically discerning and pragmatic Nigerians know what Tinubu truly is. Could Fashola, stride for stride and thug for thug, have matched the dedication to evil many in the PDP are irredeemably devoted to? Could Fashola have been the opposition Elliot Ness to the ruling Party's AL Capone like Tinubu was? That is why someone like the very intelligent Pat Utomi, many worshipped like a god who is "presidential material", willingly chose to join the ACN then (now APC).

Personally, I feel sorry the most for the confused Yorubas (like Ola6 - Aljharem is Chadian anyway and not even Nigerian let alone Yoruba) who are to be found always vilifying Tinubu. Tinubu, for the reality of Nigeria, is far better, more pro-people, braver and more solution-driven than those others host and celebrate in their region(Odili, Orji Kalu, Orubebe, Ohakim, Andy and Chris Ubah, Ifeanyi Ubah, Ibori, Anenih, IBB, Danjuma, Ciroma, Yakassai,David Mark et al) only to then be hypocritically attacking Tinubu everyday as if he is the only politician in Nigeria. The Yorubas should be careful. Others have not lynched their murderer and serial killers, decimating their own societies directly, but they want to execute your own pick-pocket whose action does not affect them?
Gibberish. Please discuss how your kings betrayed their own for bags of owo.
