This is exactly what people have been saying about Nigerian reports. In recent times one forumite named Geez has been going about with so many fake data. Now the bubble has burst. It was surprising that NBS data collected before (2007) https://www.nairaland.com/371485/regional-poverty-nigeria-north-south-west says SE, SS and SW in that order are least affected by poverty and suddenly the table turned in 2012 with no accompanying visible infrastructural jump in the SW to justify it. Since Yemi Kale took over at the NBS, many data fake have been bandied about favoring the SW. I take the JAMB as another area to watch out. In the next few years the SW will be leading courtesy of the current JAMB Registrar who has deleted all previous data showing SE and SS to be in the lead over many years, in readiness to replace it with data showing SW lead. |
National Bureau Of Statistics Denies Recent Poverty Rating Report The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has denied the report that it rated Sokoto State as the poorest state in Nigeria in the 2012 National Poverty Index. The Statistician-General of the Federation, Dr. Yemi Kale, stated this in a response letter signed on his behalf by Mrs. Yvonne Odu-Thomas, and addressed to the chambers of Dr. Alex Iziyon (SAN), the lawyer to the Sokoto State Government. In the letter entitled: ‘RE: Bogus, Fictitious, Baseless and Inciting Publication on Sokoto State as the Poorest State in Nigeria’, the Bureau dissociated itself from the report credited to it. “First to be noted is that, the Bureau conducts its National Poverty Index every five to six years. The last survey conducted was in the year 2009/10, whilst the previous one was conducted in the year 2003/04. It can be said therefore, based on this explanation given by the Bureau that the publications on poverty for 2012, so mentioned are out of context and false. “It is important to mention here that the Bureau uses and will continue to use global best practice in conducting all of its Surveys and that no such information as alleged by your client is on the Bureau’s website”, Mrs. Odu-Thomas stated. In another letter to the Special Adviser, Sokoto State Poverty Reduction Agency, the NBS said: “Its next assessment is scheduled for 2014/15. There has been no new survey or analysis on poverty by NBS since 2009/10, therefore all reports claiming NBS released poverty results for 2012 are false. “Accordingly, any statistics recorded without the authority of the NBS, as is the case with the one in question, is not to be regarded as official. The NBS surveys which cut across states are done in collaboration with state statistical offices and before any such survey is conducted you would be informed via the Governor’s Forum,” it added. http://www.nigerianstat.gov.ng/news/display/2 |

Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafria (MASSOB) has declared that it has completed the relocation and rehabilitation of Biafran war veterans from Oji River, Enugu State to Okwe-Onuimo in Imo. According to him, it is an exercise to minimise their sufferings and wipe out the ugly past of the Nigeria-Biafra Civil War from the minds of Ndigbo. On Friday, January 21, 2011, another batch of the veterans and their families arrived Okwe, the hometown of the MASSOB leader, Ralph Uwazuruike. Nine veterans and their families had on Friday, January 14, 2011 arrived the village and have been accommodated in some of the 202-bed bungalows constructed by the MASSOB boss. Uwazuruike, who spoke to the Daily Independent on the issue, said that “he has not received any kobo from any organization or government. This is something we are doing for ourselves; we are not interested in the fund from any organization.” He stated that the most important issue in the project is to save them from hunger and lack of shelter, saying that the movement does not want to use it as a campaign strategy to attract money from local or international donor agencies. This, he maintained, will steer it away from any abuse, adding that “for the past five years, we’ve been providing them with food and little cash at the Oji River Camp. During this period, I told them not to make noise about it. If I hear it any were I’ll stop.” Some of the veterans, Joseph Akani, Ambrose Ehuuoko and the President of the group, Lawrence Akpu, described their relocation as “a return to the promised land. “We now know that the war has ended. Since the end of the civil war in 1970, no person has rehabilitated us like our leader has done. We thank God for giving him the vision to do. “We now have a home that is comfortable in Okwe. At Oji River, we stayed on the highways begging for money to feed our families since nobody was catering for us. He has done well for us.” |
[quote author=EzeUche_ link=topic=592030.msg7597159#msg7597159 date=1295922796 And who went on a tantrum against the Igbo, because one Igbo claimed Lagos? What lurks deep in his heart is something that we have all seen. He reminds me of Katsumoto. We all know those type of Yoruba. They do not show any outward tribalism like bestial Yoruba posters I mentioned above. They are the elite of their race. Outward tribalism is beneath them, but it lurks in their heart. True sons of Oduduwa and the MOST DANGEROUS KIND. I fear those type of Yoruba more than anything else. The blood of Awolowo flows through their vein. They might smile with you, drink with you, party with you, but they will stab you in the back in a moments notice.

Only a short-sighted, extremely naive and undecerning person will call Eku bear detribalized. All his analyses have always been SW, Yoruba. He has no major opinion about others or about Nigeria |
Eku Bear is not tribalistic? Look deeper. He, as then Dapo Bear, did confess and acknowledge his tribalistic trait right here on NL. |

BankPHB shareholders seek recovery of N66m depositors’ funds Tuesday, 25 January 2011 00:00 Editor Business Services - Business News E-mail Print User Rating: / 0 PoorBest SHAREHOLDERS of Bank PHB have sought President Goodluck Jonathan’s direct intervention in the activities of the bank to save them from losing N66 million shareholders and depositors funds. They said that only the President’s personal intervention and presidency investigation of Bank PHB would help them retrieve the illegal and reckless disbursement of the bank’s N66 million to cronies of the interim management. The investors under the aegis of concerned shareholders said that their resort to the President stemmed from negative effects of the interim management balkanisation of the bank’s troubled shareholders’ and depositors’ funds on the nation’s shared financial industry values. According to them, their resort to Jonathan also followed the nonchalant attitude of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to play down the allegations which bordered on ethics and corporate governance. They argued that the board’s approval of N30 million vehicle allowance to out-going board Chairman, Mr. Kolawole Abiola was high clandestine against the background that he had earlier collected N11 million for the same purpose in 2007. Concern shareholders wondered, “under what provisions or extant policy of the bank did they derive the power for this bizarre and unilateral action that was not discussed at any board meeting? To them, more disgusting remains the recent approval of N11 million upfront payments to Abiola for the 2011 board meeting allowance when the chairman is due to retire in March 2011. The other allegations raised by the concern shareholders in a statement signed by Alhaji Sani Waziri and Mr. George Udoh in what they described as the questionable disbursement of N66 million, included the N25 million election support offered to a director that failed in his gubernatorial ambition and $120,000 off-shore vacation allowance to the bank’s Managing Director, Mr Cyril Chukwuma. The shareholders also frowned at the reckless disbursement of N60 million by Bank PHB to another management staff as mortgage loan as against the staff entitlement of N39 million. The bank in a reaction by a management staff who wanted to be anonymous described the allegations as frivolous and baseless stressing that they were recycle stories aimed at tarnishing the image of the institution. He said that bank’s silent on the issue and refusals to joining issues with some disgruntle elements “was because CBN had earlier given the bank a clean bill of health after investigation.” The source said that while he could not speak for the board, the management remained committed in repositioning the bank irrespective of some calculated distractions. http://www.guardiannewsngr.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=36439:bankphb-shareholders-seek-recovery-of-n66m-depositors-funds&catid=31:business&Itemid=562 |

I kinda like Yoruba method of denying the evil in their domain. It makes it happen over and over again. Igbo agreed that kidnapping had become an issue in their domain and it was attacked frontally with the help of the feds. Since then, it has reduced to the barest minimum. I beg, Yoruba people, make una carry go with una self denial. I dey enjoy am |
