In Defense of Nyesom Wike: Addressing the Allegations and Misconceptions The ongoing political crisis in Rivers State has sparked heated debates, particularly regarding the declaration of a state of emergency and the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Some, including the PDP Governors' Forum, have attempted to shift the blame onto Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), portraying him as the mastermind behind the crisis. However, these allegations are not only baseless but also ignore the broader political realities at play. 1. Wike’s Role as a Stakeholder, Not a Saboteur As a former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike remains an influential political figure in the state. His involvement in political matters should not be misconstrued as interference or sabotage. Leaders who have served in public office retain vested interests in their states, just as Bola Tinubu did in Lagos before assuming the presidency. Political influence does not equate to an unconstitutional power grab. Furthermore, Governor Fubara owes his political rise to Wike, having been handpicked by him. If there were internal disagreements, they should have been resolved through dialogue rather than portraying Wike as an enemy of democracy. 2. The Flawed Narrative of Bias and Favoritism The PDP Governors’ Forum accuses President Tinubu of showing bias by allegedly shielding Wike while taking action against Fubara. However, this argument is flawed for several reasons: The state of emergency was declared due to security concerns, not because of political disputes. If security reports indicated rising instability, the federal government had a duty to intervene. Wike was not the one in power when the crisis escalated—Governor Fubara was. The responsibility to manage tensions within the state rested with the sitting administration. Comparisons to past declarations of emergency in Plateau and Ekiti states under former President Olusegun Obasanjo show that similar actions have been taken before without accusations of bias. 3. Legal Concerns Should Be Settled in Court, Not the Media The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has raised concerns about the legality of suspending a sitting governor. While legal scholars may debate this matter, the correct approach is to seek judicial interpretation, not make political pronouncements. The proper channel for resolving such disputes is the Supreme Court, which should be allowed to clarify the extent of presidential powers under Section 305 (3) of the Constitution. If Governor Fubara believes his suspension is unconstitutional, he should challenge it legally, rather than relying on political statements from partisan groups. 4. PDP’s Hypocrisy and Political Double Standards The same PDP Governors’ Forum that now criticizes the President for suspending a governor remained silent when similar actions were taken under past PDP administrations. In 2004, President Olusegun Obasanjo declared a state of emergency in Plateau State and suspended Governor Joshua Dariye. In 2006, President Obasanjo did the same in Ekiti State, suspending Governor Ayo Fayose. Neither of these cases sparked an outcry from PDP governors, yet they now claim that the Rivers situation is an attack on democracy. This selective outrage exposes the double standards in their position. Conclusion: Wike Is Not the Problem Blaming Wike for the political crisis in Rivers State is a diversionary tactic meant to shift focus from the actual governance challenges in the state. The PDP Governors’ Forum should channel its energy into seeking legal redress if they believe the suspension of Governor Fubara was unconstitutional, rather than engaging in political grandstanding. At the core of this issue is governance, not personality clashes. Instead of vilifying Wike, all political actors should focus on resolving the crisis through lawful and democratic means. |
The PDP's rejection of the state of emergency in Rivers State is nothing more than political hypocrisy, considering that past PDP administrations declared and enforced states of emergency multiple times in similar situations. Past States of Emergency Declared Under PDP Governments 1)Plateau State (May 18, 2004) – Declared by President Olusegun Obasanjo due to ethno-religious violence. The Governor was suspended, and an administrator was appointed. 2)Ekiti State (October 19, 2006) – Declared by President Obasanjo over a political crisis and allegations of misconduct against the state government. The Governor was removed, and an administrator was put in charge. 3)Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe States (May 14, 2013) – Declared by President Goodluck Jonathan due to the Boko Haram insurgency. The move was widely supported as necessary for restoring security. Why the PDP's Argument Is Misguided PDP leaders did not oppose these past declarations. The 1999 Constitution (Section 305) gives the President the power to declare a state of emergency when there is a clear breakdown of law and order. Rivers State has experienced bombings and escalating violence, making intervention even more justified than in some of these past cases. Instead of playing politics, the PDP should support national security efforts and acknowledge that what was necessary under Obasanjo and Jonathan is equally necessary under Tinubu. Public safety must come before party politics! |
GO TO COURT!!! |
i see Natasha begging well all this is over. No court can prevent the senate/Assembly from doing their constitutional duties, suspending you for gross misconduct is one of them |
did he write to inform them that he is coming? his excellency ought to know the proper protocol in presenting a budget. this action of his is again sad. on one breath, he wants to meet the assembly members, on the other he is creating a show. he is still the governor and should act with decorum. the house has rules and procedures, you just don't jump in on them unannounced. the president has rightly advised him to obey the supreme court judgement. the month will soon end and civil servants will expect him to pay their salaries. they will not be so supportive if them no see their pay |
No man should allow his wife control him to a point people see you as weak or your wife as controlling. A man ought to be the leader of the home and that ought not to be in doubt. Firstly, if he dies before the wife, the family will show her shege. Therefore if you refuse a request from your family, leave no one in doubt that you are the one refusing them. Secondly if your wife destroys all your other relationships and you are left alone with her, she will show you shege knowing you have no other person to turn to. |
Never believe a woman's story about her marriage break-up without listening to her husband. Women have a capability to state a story so as to whip sentiments in their favor. Let me shock you that a crying woman does not mean she is telling the truth. The tears is to distract from her obvious lies. So until I hear the husband's side of the story I refuse to believe her |
It is either the beginning of the end or the end of the beginning for you and your fiance. The mere fact that she even considered asking you shows she has either visited already or will visit him. She is just telling you to pre inform you that she is going. And you know if she gets there okafor's rule will immediately come into play |

Dead people dont pay loans. Correct girl!!! If they posted your obituary, that means they have written of the loan |
was a statistical study carried out around the nation? |
hey bro, 7 months no be 7 days o!. where/ how has she been getting sexual satisfaction? abi you think say the thing no dey hungry women too? your pastor's advice is most unwise. from your story your marriage is headed for only one destination-the. rocks. my remaining advice to you is to carry out a DNA test on your child (ren) before you labor in another man's vineyard. also a telltale sign of a cheating spouse is sudden suspicion of their partners. her being suspicious of you talking with any female is her trying to divert attention from herself. also her mum is in cahoots with her, there's another suitor in her home state who is making promises of marrying her, you are just a spare tyre if that option fails. ogbeni wake up |
young man..my only advice to you is to drop her like hot amala and run for your life before you know it you will marry her and that is where your suffering starts run my guy run |
