For the Nigerians that pay taxes, what has been the benefit to them? Some silly people called government loots the monies and you expect the people to still believe. I used to pay about N37,000 in taxes monthly and the best I get are: Bad roads, insecurity, no access to portable water, power outages amongst others. Regarding other places in Africa as Biblical Hell on Earth is a part of our insincere lifestyle because there actually is no difference between them and Nigeria. Besides, many of them do not have a tenth of the natural and human resources we have thus, there isn't any fair basis for comparison here as comparing us both as African countries in my opinion isn't objective enough. This is not to say bad governance as we have amongst most parts of Africa hasn't contributed to this.

We do not need the international community to show how bad things are. Channels at different points have shown how bad the standard of living is in Nigeria. There was a documentary on al-jazeerah some weeks back which showed how bad Nigeria is and I almost wept for the lifestyle people live in Nigeria. Sometimes on this forum was a link to National Bereau of Statistics data where it was said that over 60% of Nigerians live under the $1 poverty threshold in Nigeria.

The most annoying is the rate of embezzlement. Perhaps we should educate our government that the wealth of nations are not measured by how much the rich in the countries have in foreign bank accounts.

Most economies are just recovering from the recession of the late 2000s as such, you should expect that it may take a while to get the kind of job you want due to the excess labor experienced as a result of loss of jobs thus, wage rates are expected to fall. However, as more jobs are created, the demand side is stimulated and aggregate demand increases and for firms to match up supply with this demand, more labor is employed and this would continue till the economy gets back to its peak. If you say UK is dead, can you compare the number of new jobs created in the first quarter of 2012 to the number of jobs to created in Nigeria in the year 2011. If UK creates more despite having a lower labor force then you should know that your conclusion that UK is DEAD is false. Besides, I believe one's mentality and position to life is one of the things that gets one the job s/he want as it shows in our attitude and personality when being interviewed for any position.
