Just like you dude, I was skeptical about the after tax amount. It's preposterous he knows the after tax amount before his first day on the job. pappilo: Tell us the job role and the industry and I will give you average, median and top salaries.
I am in the tech industry in the UK so dont come here and bullshit people. There are a million Asians here wey get brain die and can do magic in tech with their eyes closed but they dont get this kind of pay on a regular. These guys dont need sponsorship visa o.
Na you wey dey Lagos, wey dem dey suspicious of na him dem go offer job of £400/day just like that?
I am not saying it is not possible but you'd have to be in a very niche area and have skills that are very hard to come by. Your after tax yarn just gave it all away... You think say you be footballer? |

This is cabon monoxide poisoning. Everyone should have a cabon monoxide detector in their dwellings. It's relatively inexpensive. |

SteveOfu: "Respect the relationship you have with your spouse. The outsider has no such commitment ". Words on marble. That 20% that one’s partner lacks is the bane of any relationship, once you go find that 20% in someone else that’s the day your relationship starts to fail The interesting dynamic is that you may find that missing 20% in a new partner but end up losing out on the 80% you had with your original partner. The grass is not always greener on the other side. |

Conducts like these are the reasons I don't invest or have businesses in black communities or African countries. Some folks lost everything during the protest/pandemonium in the US, predominantly in black communities. Imagine one's livelihood gone in a jiffy. |

alfajohn: The classification is not one shoe fit all. Assuming you earn 60m per annum and your asset base is 30m are you better than someone who earns 30m but has an asset base of 200m. What am saying in essence is that the worth of an individual is not solely measured by earnings per year. Valid point. Don't forget to include geographical location. Someone earning 50M/yr in Lagos has less disposable income than some earning the same amount in Akure. |

I totally agree with you. hairyman: This is not the sort of conversation that will be understandable in a country that elected Buhari as President.
That's a joke. However note that it is extremely difficult to gain and practice "financial logic" People will always justify spending money no matter how illogical.
By the way 20% is way too high. I would peg it at 5% (which I wouldn't apply myself: more like 2% or keep legging it)
If a car constitutes 20% of your net worth then you are losing as much as 2.5% of your net worth annually at least. Not to speak of further loses to that net worth occassioned by funds which will be used to maintain said vehicle that would have better been applied to something more profitable. So in a few years the car will be worth a lot more of your net worth than 20% probably.
In my opinion this topic is extremely important. But our society has been invaded by a pervasive desire to get rich quick and to enjoy quicker, making this a waste of time. |

OP is not trying to decide for anyone on how to live their lives. His assertion is only a general rule of thumb when purchasing a vehicle. BTW, one's net worth is total asset minus liability. |

Xisnin: Shut up. It has nothing to do with blacks. It has everything to do with blacks in the us. For some reasons, they think rules don't apply to them. You need to see how the black communities in various cities are throwing block parties as if the pandemic is a hoax. They are more susceptible to get very sick or die due to preexisting health conditions and unhealthy lifestyles yet they throw caution to the wind. |
