The iPhone 7 rumors have started, and indicate that the next iPhone may have a wraparound side screen display and maybe even no home button, along with a 2015 release date.

The rumors suggest that Apple may, in keeping with typical practices, keep the same design for the iPhone 7 as was used for the iPhone 6.

“However, if Apple does decide to go for a new design for the iPhone 7, we actually think it could be thicker than the iPhone 6, with what Apple calls ‘sidewall displays,’” reported Mac World.

“Apple has published a patent relating to such displays, which hints at a future iPhone with a display that extends onto the sides of the device, providing interactive or touch sensitive portions that give access to the slide to unlock functionality, music player controls, messaging readout, caller ID, system controls and more.”

As noted by some Apple fans, the side screen display would enable owners to see if notifications come in even if the phone was face down.

“If I’m lying in bed and it’s on the bedside table at eye level and I get an email a notification will be visible without me having to unlock the device etc,” noted Michael Shanks, who created a concept for the side screen display.

Another rumor based on patents is that the iPhone 7 could have face recognition to unlock the device. Or the entire display “could be a TouchID fingerprint sensor, eliminating the need for a Home Button and making room for a larger display,” noted the blog.

Yet another rumor related to the upcoming new phone is that it will come with a new charger, with the USB part reversible like the Lightning connector.

A video cropped up on YouTube earlier this year showing the USB plugging into the adapter both ways.

Meanwhile, Foxconn is trying to make a deal with a local government in China to build a factory that would make high-end screens for phones.

The rumored deal, discussed by sources with the Wall Street Journal, has led to speculation that the company would be building screens for Apple.

“It remains unclear whether Apple Inc. —which relies on Foxconn to make the majority of its iPhones—or other investors are being approached to invest in the display plant. Currently, Apple uses screens made by suppliers in South Korea and Japan,” the report noted.

“The development highlights Foxconn’s ambition to supply more expensive components to key customers like Apple. While Foxconn, with revenue of $130 billion last year, has been manufacturing some iPhone components already, like metal casings and cables, mobile displays are much more difficult to make and have higher margins.”

While smaller parts cost between $10 and $20, the display for the iPhone 6 costs $45.

PhonesAndroid Founder, Andy Rubin, Leaves Google by onlykay(op): 10:32pm On Oct 31, 2014
Google Lost The Guy Who Started Android

AP Andy Rubin. Andy Rubin, the founder of Android, is leaving Google after joining the company when his startup was acquired in 2005.

Rubin was in charge of the Android division until 2013, and he helped transform it from a small open-source platform into the biggest mobile operating system in the world.

Now Rubin is going to create a startup accelerator for companies focused on hardware, according to The Wall Street Journal. Based on what we've heard about Rubin from our sources, it sounds like a great fit.

One source who previously worked with Rubin described him as an excellent founder, explaining how he was different from Sundar Pichai, the Google exec currently leading the Android and Chrome divisions who just got a major promotion last week.

"I think Andy is probably the best person in the world to take something from zero to one," our source said in a previous interview before Rubin's departure. "Sundar is probably one of the best people in the world to take something from 100 to 1,000."

Another former colleague of Rubin's said Rubin always encouraged the startup culture at Google. Rubin's departure came as somewhat of a surprise, our source said, because it seemed as if he liked what he was doing there. At the same time, this person said, working at an accelerator fit in with what Rubin wanted to do.

"He's an entrepreneur. He likes to think fast and innovate," one source said in an interview prior to Rubin's exit, in reference to Android being handed over to Pichai. "I think that at some point, Android got so big that it's not necessarily that same challenge. And I think he still wants to have some more challenges and make some more great things happen."

Our source didn't know why Rubin suddenly left the company but speculated that it could have something to do with Page's recent reorganization. Or, it could simply be that Rubin is more interested in working with early stage startups at this time.

PoliticsPdp’ll Sack Ajimobi In 2015 –makinde by onlykay(op): 12:57am On Oct 31, 2014
A governorship aspirant in Oyo State Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Seyi Makinde, has said that the opposition party would win the 2015 governorship election in the state.

He stated this in Abuja on Wednesday when he submitted his expression of interest form to contest the governorship primaries on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo state.

Makinde said, “The PDP will sack Governor Abiola Ajimobi from office next year.”

While welcoming Makinde’s delegation to his office in Abuja, the National Organising Secretary of the party, Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha, on Wednesday, described Makinde as a man of the people.

Abaubakar noted that the presence of the National Secretary of the PDP, Prof. Wale Oladipo, and other chieftains of the PDP on the entourage of Makinde showed that the aspirant has notable connections.

Makinde explained that the process of taking Oyo from the All Progressives Congress had begun with his submission of the expression of interest form.

He said, “I am proud of the quality of the state executive. I only demand a level playing field during the primary so that the most popular aspirant could emerge as candidate. I know that I will emerge as the Oyo PDP governorship candidate in a free and fair primary.

“All over the world, age, intelligence, vibrancy, passion, integrity and dedication are qualities of great leaders. I have these qualities and I want to offer myself for service of the my people.”

Christianity EtcThe 5 Scariest Teachings Of Jesus by onlykay(op): 7:34pm On Oct 30, 2014
Halloween is a celebration of artificial fear. No goblins or witches are really going to cause harm to us. For Christians, the deeper and more genuine fear may come from within our own faith. If taken seriously, after all, it threatens to upend our society. Let's look at just five scary directives of Jesus, taken from the Gospels:

Number Five: "I say to you, Do not swear at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, or by the Earth... Let your word be 'yes, yes,' and 'no, no'; anything more than this comes from the evil one. Matthew 34-37.

Jesus's prohibition on taking oaths makes life uncomfortable at several levels. If we take this directive seriously, we gum up the works in all the many places we are required to swear to something (i.e., a courtroom). This is a directive that is often turned upside down, though, such as when Christian employers require that an oath of belief be given when someone is hired. It even challenges the creeds that are said as part of the liturgy in many churches.

Number Four: "Do not judge, so that you may not be judged." Matthew 7:1

Judging others is a difficult thing to avoid-- and often we don't seem to be trying at all to avoid it. In fact, some Christian groups (both left and right) seem to define themselves by who they judge rather than who they love. All of us, of course, find it hard to resist the urge to condemn others.

Number Three: "Blessed are you who are poor... but woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation." Luke 6:20-24.

Obviously, the Prosperity Gospel folks have this one upside-down, but so do many of the rest of us who continue to value rich people more than poor people. It is hard not to, as non-profit groups such as churches are dependent on the largess of the rich. Moreover, our culture makes us desire riches over poverty, and our churches do little to push back.

Number Two: "I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and one's foes will be members of one's own household." Matthew 10:34-36.

We want our faith to be pro-family, but it is clear that Jesus saw the faith as a cause of division. This is tough to swallow, but also abundantly clear. In other parts of the Gospels, he promises eternal life to those who leave their families to follow him, and we see him reject his own family when they come to visit, turning instead to his followers and saying that they are his mother and brothers. It wasn't nuanced, and it wasn't hypothetical-- Jesus's apostles really did abandon their families. For example, we know that Peter was married, but his wife probably was left impoverished and overwhelmed when he abandoned her and his job for three years to follow Jesus.

Number One: "You have heard that it was said, 'an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' But I say to you, Do not resist an evildoer."
Matthew 5:38-39

As a former federal prosecutor who trains future prosecutors, this teaching challenges all that I do. Law enforcement is the very enterprise of resisting evildoers, and Jesus's express rejection of retribution guts much of our purpose in sentencing criminals. How does a society survive if its citizens are committed to this directive?

These teachings scare some people more than others, of course. The Christian faith is an exercise in interpretation. Its primary text, the Bible, often contradicts itself if read as an undifferentiated whole. The need to interpret was emphasized by the teaching method of Jesus, who often spoke in parables and left it to his audience to divine the meaning.

Christians often disagree about even the rules that should be used to interpret this text. However, I would like to suggest one bedrock tenet, particularly in regard to the Gospels: When he was teaching through literal direction, Jesus never meant the exact opposite of what he actually taught. When he said "feed the hungry," he did not mean "don't feed the hungry." This simple interpretive rule is what makes the five teachings described above so threatening. Unless we turn them upside-down, they upend some of the things we most want to believe. That, though, is what Christ promised: not an easy way, but a narrow path full of challenges.

Literature15 Signs That Confirm You’re A Typical Nigerian by onlykay(op): 12:48am On Oct 29, 2014
Having the Nigerian green passport alone does not make you a Nigerian, there are other things that add up to it.We Nigerian have very peculiar stuffs in common irrespective of our diverse culture and differences in religion.

Here are 15 things that shows you’re a typical Nigerian:

1.You Shout Up NEPA.

Power is still a big problem in Nigeria,if you’ve lived or still living in Nigeria you know what I am talking about. So you get excited and scream Up Nepa when the electricity comes on?My friend you’re a Nigeria.

2.You wear Special Outfit for Sundays or Fridays.
We Nigerians are very Religious people and very few of us are Godly, sad truth. We don’t joke with our Religious activities. Most Nigerians reserve the best of the best clothes for Sundays (for the Christians) and Fridays(for the Muslims). In fact offering time in churches are like fashion shows with everyone trying to cat walk and show off their beautiful dresses .

3.You don’t ask people their age and you don’t like to tell people your age.

Except it’s something official we don’t like to tell or ask people their age.We Nigerians see asking someone’s age, especially if the person is older than you very disrespectful.

4.You’re boisterous and always Speak loud in Public.

Nigerians are very noisy and energetic people,it’s not difficult to identify a Nigerian when you find yourself at International airports .We speak loud with confidence ,you hear phrases like “Do you know who I am?” “My friend I will get you locked up!”

5.You call people you are not familiar with names like:
Chairman,Oga,Uncle,Aunty,Bros,Sister etc.

6.You have two Phones to yourself alone.
Most Nigerians living in Nigeria own two phones ,not just to show off but because of the unstable poweer and mobile network services ,you can’t just rely on one network or phone. If mtn doesn’t have network you quickly pick up your etisalat sim card.

7.You’re materialistic and like to flaunt your wealth at the slightest opportunity given.

The Rich Nigerians are really really rich.We buy things we don’t need just solely to fit in with everyone else. Your Facebook updates are things like “lekkibeach chilling”,”Dubai things”,”Money on mind”then just know you’re a Typical Nigerian etc

8.You’re always extremely security conscious and watchful.

A Typical Nigerian person is always watching for safety. He doesn’t trust anyone around him, everyone is a suspect. He doesn’t keep his phone carelessly ‘cos he knows someone is waiting for such opportunity to steal it.I once traveled somewhere abroad, and the guy who came for me at the airport was telling me how unsafe the place was and why I should keep my belongings safe,I just looked at him and smiled ,wish he knew how security conscious we Nigerians are by default.

9.You have relatives that you can’t even explain in simple terms how they are related to you.
I hear things like,Hmm Mayo here is my relative Kemi ,she is my Fathers brother’s wife cousin’s friend’s Husband.I am like WTH!!

10.You always like to cook Jollof Rice when you have Big Occasions
.
11.You use very often phrases like :
Eh wo,Ehen, Chineke, Che, Ah-Ah, Yepa! God forbid , by God’s Grace,Nawa o!Wetin sef!No worry ,Go joor! etc

12.You know what chin chin, puff puff, or moin moin are

13.You’ve never or rarely visit the dentist because you don’t see any reason for that and consider it waste of money.
Nigerians only visit a dentist office when there is no other remedy. Visiting a dentist for normal check-up is not an everyday thing in Nigeria.

14.You like to add “O” to a lot of your talk.
e.g Na wa o,Leave me o,O boy!,Na Now o!

15.You read all the above 14 signs and smiled in between

Proudly a Nigerian,are you?

PhonesBlackberry Passport Review by onlykay(op): 11:54pm On Oct 28, 2014
Canadian manufacturer BlackBerry looks to bring its no-nonsense smartphone approach in a form factor that is...unusual, to say the least. It's a company that's no stranger lately to being in the red for quarters on end and the Passport is yet another attempt by BlackBerry to regain its identity (and market share) in a cutthroat industry that's dominated by Android.

Even from a distance, it's apparent that the Passport is a device that's different for a reason. First, the company failed to market a "traditional" smartphone with the otherwise solid BlackBerry Z30. The BlackBerry Q5 QWERTY messenger wasn't any more successful as a return to the bread-and-butter. Now, the Passport hopes to strike gold with a formula that's the best of both worlds while being bound to neither.

The Passport certainly carries a spec sheet to put performance buffs at ease. With a Quad-core 2.26GHz Snapdragon 801 chip and 3GB of RAM, it's easily the most robust BlackBerry smartphone to date. The 4.5-inch square display is also of an impressive 1440 x 1440px, which results in an excellent 453ppi. Here's what else it brings to the table:
Key features

4.5" 16M-color IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen of 1440 x 1440px
Quad-core 2.26 GHz Krait 400, 3GB RAM, Adreno 330
13 megapixel auto-focus camera with face detection and Time Shift, HDR, LED flash, 2MP front facing camera
FullHD (1080p) video recording at 60fps; 720p recording with front-facing camera
32GB storage, microSD card slot up to 128GB; built-in Dropbox and Box integration
Unique touch-enabled 3-row QWERTY keyboard with hardware keys
Stereo speakers
Ability to run Android apps (via the Amazon AppStore or sideloading)
BlackBerry 10.3 OS with Virtual Assistant
3,450mAh battery

Main disadvantages

Awkward design, in which an otherwise compact touchscreen takes some really large hands to use single-handedly and typing is certainly a two-hand job
No 2160p video recording (for such an expensive device)
Non user-replaceable battery
Three-row QWERTY has no numpad, multi-language support potentially problematic

From its odd form factor to BlackBerry OS 10's business ethos, the Passport is undoubtedly targeted at professionals. With BBOS 10 iterations prior to version 10.3, BlackBerry tried desperately to catch up to Android and iOS. After ultimately failing to match the competition, the latest BBOS 10.3 update has refocused the OS towards doing what the company does best: business.

Its capable office suite along with the rich and secure email and messaging capabilities make it a very compelling offer in a corporate scenario. By playing to its strengths, BlackBerry is giving you a reason to consider it above Android.

But the Passport certainly doesn't come without its share of drawbacks. The odd form factor takes a lot of getting used to, particularly if you're coming from a conventional smartphone. Up next we'll take a closer look at the design, controls, and handling of the BlackBerry Passport.

CareerWhy You Should Never Wear Orange To An Interview by onlykay(op): 7:27pm On Oct 28, 2014
Why You Should Never Wear Orange To An Interview

Why your brown "power suit" could be making you look passive, why you should ditch Navy if you're in a creative field and never wear orange.

Color has a lot of power. It can calm you, make you hungry, and even put you in the mood for love, color psychologists say. But can it get you a job?

While it won’t make up for lack of experience or qualifications, wearing the right color can start you off on the right foot during an interview, according to a recent study by Harris Interactive for CareerBuilder. A survey of hiring managers and human resource professionals revealed that employers associate personality attributes with the colors candidates wear to job interviews.

For example:

Black conveys leadership.
Red was a color of power.
Blue gives the impression that the person is a team player.
Gray reads as logical and analytical.
White gives the feeling of being organized.
Green, yellow, orange and purple are associated with creativity.

“In terms of projection, your appearance tells more about you than what you say or how you say it,” says New York image and style expert Carol Davidson. “And out of all of the elements of your wardrobe, color speaks first.”

In addition to polishing your resume and interview skills, selecting the right clothing is an important element of finding a new job. The best color to choose depends on the industry, says Davidson, who teaches a class about wardrobe color planning at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology. Before you grab a garment from your closet, consult this list of popular clothing colors:
Don't Wear Navy In An Interview For A Creative Job

Navy sends a message of being enterprising, trustworthy, honest, and credible, says Davidson. It’s a great choice for industries like law or finance. If you’re interviewing for a more creative environment, however, it could be considered too conservative.

Employers from the CareerBuilder survey recommended blue most often, with 23% of hiring professionals identifying it as their most preferred wardrobe color choice.
Wear Black If You Are Interviewing For A Management Job

Black is an extremely strong color and is highest on the authority scale, says Davidson. “Most people figure that’s a good thing, but for a first interview you don’t want to run the risk of overpowering the person in front of you,” she says.

If you are interviewing for position where you would be in charge or if you’re demure in your appearance, however, Davidson says black could be a great choice. Fifteen percent of the employers from the CareerBuilder survey recommended wearing black.
You Probably Should Avoid Brown All Together

Polar opposite to black, Davidson says brown conveys the message that you’re simple and slow to change. In fact, she doesn’t recommend wearing this color to an interview in any industry.

”Like every color, brown does have some positive attributes; it can read comforting and reliable,” she says. “But in an industry that is fast-paced and innovative it may give the impression you’re staid and passive.”
Gray Is Good For Any Industry

A great choice to wear on an interview for any industry is gray, says Davidson. “Gray sends a message of being rock solid, wise and reliable,” she says.

Since gray also reads a bit more understated, Davidson suggests adding a bolder accent color depending on the industry. For example, someone applying for a job at an advertising agency might add a red scarf, yellow shirt or purple tie to add a bit of personality and flair.
Red Might Be A Bit Too Much

Red comes across as bold and assertive, and Davidson advises against wearing it for an interview. In many industries it can come off too strong.

“Red can send less favorable messages about the candidate--that he or she is domineering, rebellious and obstinate, for example,” she says. “There is a fine line between assertive and aggressive, and red is a risky choice for an interview. That said the feisty quality of this color might be well-suited in sales or law.”
Want to Appear That You Have Attention To Detail? Wear White

In contrast to red, white is a reassuring color that can convey a feeling of new beginnings, impartiality, cleanliness and purity.

“It’s 'immaculate' quality can suggest an attention to detail and therefore makes it a good choice for an interview,” she says. While you probably don’t want to wear white suite, a crisp white shirt is appropriate for any industry.
Put The Interviewer At Ease With Green, Send The Message That You're Unique With Purple or Yellow, But Please Don't Wear Orange

Green is a color often associated with a sense of calm and wellbeing, as well as wealth and prosperity. Davidson says it’s a good choice for an accent color as it will not only put the interviewer at ease, it will send a message of possibility and growth.

For more creative environments, Davidson suggests wearing a color that pops such as purple or yellow: “Purple sends a message of being artistic and unique, while yellow signifies optimism and creativity,” she says.

Orange, however, topped the CareerBuilder list for the worst color, with 25% of employers saying it was the color most likely to be associated with someone who is unprofessional.
Light and Dark

No matter which color you choose, Davidson says you should also consider its tone. “All colors can be scaled from authoritative to approachable,” she says.

Dark colors are perceived as formal and authoritative, while light colors make the wearer appear more friendly and approachable. Bright colors convey confidence while muted colors are conservative and less threatening.

And contrasting colors can send a message, too: “The higher degree of contrast--wearing black and white, or navy and white, for example--the more powerful you will appear,” Davidson says. “The lower the degree of contrast, the more approachable and friendly you seem.”
EventsOsun Celebrates Hijra, Declares Monday Public Holiday by onlykay(op): 12:25am On Oct 26, 2014
Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, on Saturday joined other Muslims to celebrate the beginning of a new Islamic year- Hijra 1436.

The governor who joined Muslim leaders and adherents of the religion at the Osogbo township stadium at a ceremony to usher in the new year which started on Saturday declared Monday as a public holiday in the state.

He said this would give them the opportunity to reflect on the lessons of Hijra.

The governor called on all Muslims to use the occasion to move closer to God and be at peace with their neighbours.

He said, “There is no basis for anybody or groups to hide under Islam to perpetrate evil.

“Islam is not a religion of violence, any person, group or sects who indulge in violence or its associated vices are not followers of Islam, they are wicked and not good examples of Islam.
BusinessN135m Fraud: EFCC Declares Lawyer, Bank Manager Wanted by onlykay(op): 8:49pm On Oct 24, 2014
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has declared a manhunt for a lawyer and two bank managers (names withheld) for allegedly duping a former Military Administrator of Lagos State, Brig. Gen Mobolaji Johnson, of the sum of N135m.

A source at the EFCC said the lawyer had offered a property belonging to the former Governor for lease without his approval.

The source said the lawyer connived with the two bank managers to clear a cheque issued on a phoney lease agreement by opening a fake fix deposit account in the name of the former governor.

The lawyer was said to have leased a property situated at No. 182 A Kofo Abayomi Street, Victoria Island, to Stallion Motors Limited in 2008 in the sum of N270m but later offered N182m by claiming that the landlord instructed him to offer it to the firm in place of the former one.

It was stated that the company paid 50 per cent of the agreed sum of N270m to the lawyer after negotiations which was N135m, with an agreement to pay the balance after taking possession of the property.

The source said the company could not take possession long after making the first payment only to realise that the deal was fraudulent.

It was stated further that the lawyer pleaded with the company to refund the money to them with interest and issued some post-dated cheques on an agreed sum of N200m which did not yield any benefit to the company.

The embattled lawyer was said to have pleaded with the company to withhold presenting the cheques even though allegedly failed to make an alternative arrangement to refund the money.

Investigations revealed that the EFCC is after the two bank manager for alleged collusion with the lawyer to cash the cheque issued in the name of the governor.

It was further gathered that the former governor had told EFCC operatives investigating the financial crime that he did not give any instruction to the lawyer to act as an agent to him on the said property.

The former governor was also said to have said the money was not paid into his account.

The Head of Media and Publicity of the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed that the commission was investigating the alleged fraud.

“I am aware that the commission is investigating that case,” he said
PoliticsAPC Presidential Aspirants Better Than Jonathan – Kwankwanso by onlykay(op): 8:36pm On Oct 24, 2014
The Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwanso, has said all those aspiring to become President in the All Progressives Congress are better than President Goodluck Jonathan.

He also said because of the array of aspirants in the APC, it would be wrong to assume that the party would split after its presidential primary.

Kwankwanso, who spoke with journalists in Abuja on Friday evening, said it was also wrong to assume that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party has a presidential candidate already.

Apart from Kwankwanso, other presidential aspirants in the APC are a former Head of State, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari(retd.); a former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and a newspaper Publisher, Mr. Sam Nda-Isaiah.

The governor said he would openly declare his intention on October 28, adding that it was difficult for him to secure a venue for the declaration.

But now he said he had paid for the event to hold at Old Parade Ground, hoping that the owners of the venue would not change their mind.

He also revealed that all the aspirants have agreed to work with who ever wins the party’s presidential primary, saying none of them would leave the party.

The governor said, “For people like me who have millions of supporters all over the country, I’m not the type that will be jumping from one party to the other. I can’t go back to the PDP.

“One of us, not two or three, will win the primary. All of us are believe that all our candidates are better that the President. If I didn’t get it, in a free and fair primarily, that is ok. None of us is thinking of leaving the party.”

On whether President Jonathan could be said to be the candidate of the PDP, he said no, adding that the President was not even sure whether he could run as the Constitution only specifies eight year tenure for the occupier of the office of the President.

He said if the president runs again having been in office for close to six years now, he would be violating the Constitution in case he wins in 2015.

He said, “If it was certain (that he is the candidate of the PFP), he would have declared long time ago. He keeps on changing the time and dates of his declaration. You know that some people are in court.

“Because he didn’t declare, the court decided to throw the case away. I’m sure that immediately he declares, probably those people will certainly go back to court.
PoliticsJonathan’s Wife Resigns As Bayelsa Permanent Secretary by onlykay(op): 6:49am On Oct 24, 2014
Mrs Patience Jonathan, Wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience, has resigned her appointment as Permanent Secretary in the Bayelsa State Civil Service.

The 57-year-old Patience was said to have left the service voluntarily.

She was one of the appointed 17 permanent secretaries in the state civil service in July 2012.

The appointment had caused outrage in the state at the time with some Bayelsa residents accusing Governor Seriake Dickson of politicising the civil service in the state.

Though Ministry of Education sources said Patience disengaged from service voluntarily, there were speculations that she resigned because of alleged rift between her and Dickson.

The alleged frosty relationship between the governor and the President’s wife was said to have been triggered by Patience unwillingness to support Dickson’s second term bid.

Instead, it was learnt that Jonathan’s wife had expressed her preference for the Special Assistant to the President on Domestic Matters, Mr. Waripamowei Dudafa.

It was learnt that Patience resigned her appointment to enable her to have the moral justification to push her candidate.

At the state’s Ministry of Education on Thursday, many of the civil servants refused to comment on the development.

But our correspondent learnt from reliable sources that the ministry had computed her terminal benefits already.

One civil servant, who agreed to speak only on condition of anonymity, said, “The whole thing is political. It appears Madam (the President’s wife) is not happy with the governor. With her resignation, the battle line has been drawn.

“I feel the President’s wife resigned to enable her to have the moral right to slug it out with Dickson ahead of the governorship poll in the state. Let no one deceive you, the whole thing is politics. After all, she is 57 and the retirement age is 60.”

When contacted, Chief Salo Adikumo, who resigned during the week as Commissioner for Education, said he was no longer the commissioner.

“I resigned recently as commissioner to enable me to pursue my political ambition. Please direct all your enquiries to the ministry, “ he said.

However, a ranking official of the ministry said it was true Patience had resigned voluntarily.

The official, who did not want her name in print because she was not authorised to speak on the matter, said she was not aware of the resignation having political undercurrents.

She said, “I can say Patience Jonathan has voluntarily retired. But whether there is political undertone in her resignation or not, I cannot say.

“I think the First Lady felt that her continued stay as Permanent Secretary will be depriving others. Now that she has resigned, it will afford others the opportunity to take over her position.

“Already, in accordance with the civil service rules, we have prepared all her entitlements. Whatever is due her will be given to her. She will also be receiving her pension.”

Politics‘omisore’ll Be Inaugurated In Nov’ by onlykay(op): 8:51pm On Oct 23, 2014
A Peoples Democratic Party senatorial aspirant for Osun Central Senatorial District, Chief Oluwole Aina, has said Senator Iyiola Omisore would win at the Election Petitions Tribunal and would be inaugurated as the governor of Osun State on November 26.

Aina, who is the chairman, Governing Board of National Root Crops Research Institute, Umudike, said this in Osogbo on Wednesday while collecting his expression of interest form for the senatorial election.

Aina said, “The so-called victory of the APC is an euphoria. They will soon be exposed. The people of Osun State voted massively for Otunba Iyiola Omisore and the APC massively rigged the election. Come November, Omisore will be inaugurated.

“Their fraud would be exposed at the tribunal and the whole world will know that they did not win but rigged.”

Aina, who expressed optimism that he would win the election to represent the constituency, assured that he would everything to attract development to the area.

He said the pedigree of the candidates and acceptability by the people would determine who would win the 2015 election in the state and not the name of any political party.

The Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy of the APC in the state, Mr. Kunle Oyatomi, however, described Aina as a daydreamer.

He said Governor Rauf Aregbesola performed excellent in his first term, noting that this was the reason the majority of the people of the state voted for him on August 9.

Car TalkLamborghini Huracan As A Police Car In America by onlykay(op): 7:34pm On Oct 23, 2014
The new Lamborghini Huracan is the hot-selling, hot-looking replacement to the outgoing Gallardo. Its V10 puts out over 600 horsepower. The whole car was designed from the ground up. And one Lamborghini dealership decided it needed to don a badge and wear a uniform.

That’s right, this is the one-of-a-kind (at least in the U.S., anyways) Lamborghini Huracan police car. Or more accurately, Polizia car. It’s a near identical replica to the Italian version done up by Lamborghini HQ in Italy, which you may have already seen. But this one gets to terrorize protect and serve the streets of South Florida instead.

Lamborghini Palm Beach was kind enough to invite us over and gave me some time to play with it. And boy is it cool. The whole exterior was covered in a custom 3M wrap bearing the “Polizia” moniker and police lights were added on top to add to the continued personality.

Lift up the boot and there’s the monster of an engine staring you in the face. 610-horsepower comes from the 5.2-liter V10, and the whole thing actually sounds a little meaner thanks to some sportier factory exhaust.

As for the interior, Lambo Palm Beach didn’t bother fussing with it considering it is just a show piece (for now). But it’s still as pretty as ever with the stylized central ignition button and knobs and switches aplenty.

The Lambo is going to live on wearing the white and blue for a few more months, making its way to a number of events in the area, and then they’re probably just going to sell it as is. Imagine owning a Huracan police car. Or imagine getting pulled over by one in Nigeria — I don’t know which is cooler.

Nairaland GeneralSTOP IT; LADIES, Seven (7) Annoying Things You Need To Stop Doing On Facebook by onlykay(op): 7:29pm On Oct 17, 2014
Here are a just a few tips on how you can avoid getting blocked off your friend’s news feed or becoming “that mom”:

1. Over posting

We love pictures of your kids. (We really do. Especially babies.) But if I know exactly what you did all day, then you have definitely gone to far. Posting a new picture, status update or article every hour or gets to be a little bit much.

Remember, less is more. Posting constantly and filling up your friends’ news feeds is a big no-no. One post a day is just fine. Two is definitely acceptable. Before you post three or more times, consider waiting until another day. Your friends will appreciate the SparkNotes version of your day much better than the novel form.

2. Multi-level marketing

There are probably plenty of people out there who like Tupperware or candle parties, but I hate getting suckered into those things and being forced to make awkward conversation and buy something I don’t want in the name of “friendship”. Multi-level marketing is awful — and it just got worse.

The new rage is virtual parties. Your friend decides to get involved with some sort of nails, lashes, or (insert beauty product), and then their first step is to start hounding all of their friends to buy said products on Facebook with an event.

There is a big difference between effective social media marketing and guilt tripping. We all love our friends, but please don’t pester us constantly with notifications. If it’s something we genuinely want, we will buy it and support you 100%.

3. Selfies

Cute selfies? Definitely keep them coming. (Let’s be honest. We all take them.) Posting selfies on a regular basis? No. You can be proud of your outfit and the way you look, but when you posts a highly filtered selfie every day it displays a lack of self-confidence.

Your friends are here to help and validate you. (That’s what we’re here for, right?) But please, keep the selfies to a minimum. Believe me, your friends will keep letting you know that you’re gorgeous (because frankly, you are).

Stand back, give the camera to someone else, and haven them take pictures of you (somewhere other than your bathroom mirror) living life with the people you love around you. There is something refreshing and wonderful about a picture like that.

4. Be real

We want to cheer for you, your family, and your successes. Sharing joy is just another great aspect of social media.

But, nobody’s life is perfect. Don’t be afraid to be your true self online. Share the good moments, and let people support you during the hard ones. Facebook is a great place to get support during difficult times.

Nothing feels better than knowing someone else is going through the same thing as you.

5. Inappropriate content

Please keep the trash off of the internet. Don’t post pictures or articles that someone would be embarrassed to see, or they would be embarrassed for their children or boss to see on their computer.

There is nothing worse than scrolling through your feed and having to block someone for posting P0*nographic selfies or going off on an explicit rant.

6. Name calling

Everyone appreciates a good debate, and Facebook is an excellent platform to share your thoughts and opinions – but please, please, please don’t get sucked in to useless name calling.

Let’s face the facts: No two people are going to have the exact same opinions and beliefs on every subject. Just because someone thinks differently, doesn’t mean they are a bigot, uninformed or dumb.

If you’re going to have at it in the comments, make sure you are respectful, kind and prudent. If they sink to low levels, you don’t need to join them. Know when to stop and protect your reputation.

7. Cryptic status updates

Posts like, “I can’t believe that just happened” with no follow up are annoying and appropriate only for angsty teenagers. Be real with your friends and family — and don’t write posts just to get follow-up questions that give you unnecessary amounts of attention. If someone has to ask, “what happened?” then your posts is too cryptic.
Technology MarketWill.i.am Unveils Puls, A Smart 'cuff' That Makes Phone Calls by onlykay(op): 7:18pm On Oct 17, 2014
After two and a half years of development, Will.i.am finally unveiled the smart "cuff" he has been working on with his consumer electronics company, i.am+. The Puls is a wearable wristband that tells time, but "it's not a watch," the Black Eyed Peas singer said repeatedly on stage at Dreamforce in San Francisco. The key difference is that the Puls makes phone calls and accesses online services using a 3G radio. Puls will launch on carriers AT&T in the United States and O2 in the United Kingdom.

Will.i.am positioned the device as more fashionable than competing devices, and positioned the Puls as a device for communicating, playing music, and monitoring fitness. A demonstration of the device's fitness capabilities showed the Puls counting repetitions of a strength exercise. Earlier in the presentation, an AT&T executive said the device is "enabling a millennial to fashionably tweet from her wrist while clubbing," marking the first time those words have ever been in a sentence together.

There was no word on the Puls' battery life. At the end of the event, Will.i.am brought models out on stage who were wearing clothing that contained battery packs capable of transferring battery power to the Puls as long as part of it remained in contact with the sleeve. A jacket worn by one model is capable of powering the watch for two and a half days, he said. Technology should be part of more of the things we wear, Will.i.am. said. "Pardon me for dreaming, but Bleep it — let's dream," he said.

No pricing or release information is available yet for the Puls. The device has been repeatedly delayed this year, with planned release slipping from the spring to the summer to "around the holidays." It will be available in black, white, pink, and blue. There will also be a solid-gold Puls and one with gold and diamonds, Will.i.am said. The Puls is the company's second product after the foto.sosho, an ill-fated iPhone camera case with a slide-out keyboard.

ComputersApple Unveils New Ipads, Imac by onlykay(op): 9:01pm On Oct 16, 2014
imac

Apple took the wraps off of its new line of iPads, the first considerable update to the tablet since 2010, as well as well as a new iMac screen that significantly enhances its high-definition video capabilities.

The new products include the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3.

The iPad Air 2 features a new A8X processor and M8 chip, providing 40% faster computing performance and 2.5 times faster graphics performance. An improved 8 megapixel camera (boosted from 5 megapixels) enables video to be recorded in 1080p.

Device also includes Touch ID fingerprint scanning, and new anti-reflective coating that cuts down on glare by 56%, a first for the tablet market. It’s also 6.1 mm thick — 18% thinner than last year’s model and 12% thinner than the iPhone 6, making it “the world’s thinnest tablet.” When two are stacked together, they’re still thinner than the first iPad, the company touted. The battery life lasts for around 10 hours.

Pricing will remain the same as the current versions, with a $599 model to offer 64 GB of storage instead of the previous 32 GB. Gold will be a new color offered.

The iPad mini 3 will also be enhanced with more storage but add gold as a new color, as well. Pricing for the iPad mini, iPad mini 2 and iPad Air 1 will be reduced.

Apple also unveiled a new iMac with a 5K display featuring 14.7 million pixels — “the world’s highest resolution display,” that’s also 30% more power efficient than previous models, it said.

A new 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display will cost $2,499.

Apple is giving its popular tablets a refresh as more consumer are starting to snatch up larger smartphones, which is starting to impact iPad sales.

The tablets were introduced by Apple CEO Tim Cook at a press event at its Cupertino, Calif. headquarters on Thursday.

It is the company’s second such event in over a month after hyping new iPhones and its Apple Watch in September.

The press event comes just hours before the iPhone 6 goes on sale in China for the first time.

Cook said the new iPhones have been the fastest-selling in Apple’s history.

Its new mobile payment service Apple Pay also will go live on Oct. 20.

“We can deliver something no one sell can do: a simple, intuitive and yes, a magical experience for our customers,” Cook said toward the close of the event. “This is our vision of personal technology. And we are just getting started.”

Romance7 Astonishing Things That Are Important To Men by onlykay(op): 5:02am On Oct 07, 2014
Sometimes it can be rather difficult to build successful relationships with men. That is due to the fact they are absolutely different from women. If you really want to understand men, I should say that simple communication is not enough. There are lots of books available about men and their psychology. Perhaps you’ll be surprised to find out some interesting things about women that are important to men. I recommend you to get acquainted with these things if you want to avoid numerous misunderstandings with your man. Here are some of them.

Respect

One of the greatest things that really matter to men is respect. They do everything possible in order to be respected by their friends and colleagues. When a guy sees that he is not respected enough by others, he suffers greatly. Moreover, lack of respect may even lower his self-esteem. When it comes to relationship with women respect also should be taken into consideration. We usually don’t pay much attention to this thing, but those girls who give boys respect will win over.

Appreciation

I was amazed to discover that almost all men can’t live without appreciation. They constantly need compliments on their achievements. The only thing you have to do is to be grateful to a man and his happiness will be endless. He will experience the same feeling as you do when hearing about his love. Just say a few compliments to your guy and you will see the difference.

Your Smile

Do you know that your smile is fantastic? You can charm everybody with it, especially your man. Let him enjoy the warmth of your happy smile. Surely, every man wants to have an optimistic woman in his life who will always share her positive emotions with him. If a girl is happy that means she has a loving and caring boy. By showing your happiness to your guy you’ll give him an opportunity to understand how good he is. Remember that such small thing like your smile contributes greatly to your relationship with the one you love.

Time to Think

The fact is that men don’t think very quickly. When some great events happen in their life, they need extra time to process everything. Every time your man has to make a serious decision he will always hesitate and think it over for a long time. As a rule, it takes him much time to consider all pros and cons of the situation. As for women, they always know what they think of the issue discussed.

You Look Beautiful

It doesn’t mean that your guy will grudge when he sees you wearing your favorite pajamas at home. However, it will bring him more pleasure to watch you looking your best. But you shouldn’t use a lot of makeup or buy the most expensive and stylish clothes. Actually, being beautiful is not looking like a top model. Natural beauty is much more appreciated than anything else. Your sweetheart will be happy to know that you make efforts to look amazing only for him.

Compliments on His Work

Another thing that matters to your man is your praise for his work. Try to compliment him whenever he deserves it. If a guy works hard to achieve success, your appreciation will certainly motivate him for greater results. No matter what your husband or boyfriend does, your compliments will cheer him up. Moreover, you can improve his mood with your pleasant words.

Your Laugh

You can be sure that your laugh influences your man in the same way as your smile does. Without a doubt, your laugh has a magical effect on your close people. It is the brightest sign of your joy and happiness. If you smile and laugh a lot, your guy will always feel comfortable with you. I’m convinced it’s impossible to build a happy and successful relationship with a man if he often sees you dissatisfied and unhappy.

It is obvious that you should be aware of your man’s likes and dislikes, things that make him happy. In such way you can reach a mutual understanding with the most precious person in your life. Bear in mind all these things when you communicate with your sweetheart. Which of them do you find the most effective? Please share your thoughts in the comments section.

The iPhone 6 has now been in the public domain for a few weeks, and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) can reflect on an extremely successful launch for its latest flagship smartphone. Not only has the iPhone 6 sold like hot cakes, but the critical reception afforded to this crucial release for the consumer electronics giant has been extremely positive. Last week, Time Magazine named the iPhone 6 as the world’s top smartphone, and glowing reviews have been filed all over the world in prominent media. If there has been something of an Apple backlash, it certainly seems to be over based on the reaction to the iPhone 6.

Galaxy Note 4

However, this verdict pre-dates the release of the latest Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:0059935) mobile, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. The release date of this key mobile release is yet to be officially confirmed, but leaks have indicated that most territories in the world can expect to receive the Galaxy Note 4 in October.

Given the proximity to the release of the iPhone 6, the Galaxy Note 4 will definitely be seen as a direct rival to the Apple smartphone, even though the Galaxy S6, which will be released next year, may be a more natural competitor. So it’s interesting ahead of the release of this latest Samsung device to compare and contrast the strengths and weaknesses of the Galaxy Note 4 versus the iPhone 6. Given the size similarity between the two devices, it is natural to compare the Galaxy Note 4 to the iPhone 6 Plus model.

iPhone 6 And Galaxy Note 4

Construction

Despite the hugely successful launch of the iPhone 6, the Apple device had to suffer one Achilles heel; namely ‘Bendgate’. The propensity of the iPhone 6 unit to bend when a certain amount of pressure is placed upon it has been a major media story over the last few weeks. Apple would doubtless claim that it is a veritable storm in a teacup given the paltry amount of units that have been affected by this, but it is possible that it may become more of an issue over time.

The Galaxy Note 4 should have a significant advantage here then, and Samsung has certainly been putting the boot in with a recent commercial campaign. However, testers of the Samsung device have apparently located significant gaps around the edges of the Note 4 which have inevitably lead to questions regarding his build quality.

The proof maybe in the pudding on this one once the Galaxy Note 4 is released but it is worth bearing in mind that Apple’s build quality has consistently exceeded that of Samsung in the past.

Display

This is one area in which it could be asserted that the iPhone 6 Plus doesn’t quite deliver. There is nothing inherently wrong with the display in the iPhone 6 Plus, but it doesn’t impress as much as the super AMOLED Technology which Samsung arms the Galaxy range with. A quick perusal of the specs of both devices makes this clear. Although the screen size difference between the two devices is extremely negligible, the iPhone 6 Plus features a resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels, while the Galaxy Note 4 exceeds full HD resolution with a pixel capacity of 1,440 x 2,560. Samsung has been very focused on producing high-quality screens, and it seems certain that the Galaxy Note 4 will win out in this department.

Weight

The Galaxy Note 4 will be a little bulkier and heavier than its Apple competitor. Typically Apple’s devices have had a superior feel to the Samsung Galaxy range, and this doesn’t look likely to change with the release of the Galaxy Note 4.

Operating System

The Galaxy series certainly has its fair share of consumers and fans, and many argue that using Android on the Galaxy device provides mobile users with a much freer experience. However, the fact that Apple uniquely produces its own software optimized to run with its own hardware still gives the iPhone 6 plus a big advantage over competitors. Using the Apple device remains an unequalled user interface experience.

Battery life

Apple claimed before the iPhone 6 models were released that it had greatly improved the battery life of the device, and this is true to some extent. However, although battery life is extremely difficult to measure objectively, recent testing has indicated that the iPhone 6 is still sub-par in this department, even compared to most other smartphones on the market. The iPhone 6 Plus is loaded with a more powerful battery than its smaller companion device, but the 5.5-inch HD screen certainly saps the battery power pretty rapidly.

According to Samsung, the Galaxy Note 4 will have new power saving functionality built into the device, and given that previous iterations of the smartphone scored well in this department, it is reasonable to assume that it will trump the iPhone.

Camera

This can be an extremely misleading category indeed, as if one considers the raw specs attributed to the two devices then it seems a racing certainty that the Galaxy Note 4 will deliver better picture quality from its camera. The Galaxy Note 4 will feature a 16-megapixel rear facing camera, which on paper is double the quotient of its Apple iPhone 6 rival.

However, in testing conditions the Apple iPhone 6 camera has consistently outperformed the Galaxy range. And even though Samsung is placing increasing emphasis on camera properties in the Galaxy Note series, it seems unlikely that it will usurp Apple with the Note 4. The iPhone 6 also delivers outstanding features in its camera with superb optical image stabilization, and excellent video capturing
capabilities.

Price

It is likely that the Galaxy Note 4 will retail at a slightly cheaper price than the iPhone 6. This is not being officially confirmed at the time of writing, but seems a reasonable assumption based on leaks, rumors and pre-order listings. However, in all honesty if you can afford to shell out for either device, the small amount of dollars that you will save by purchasing the Galaxy Note 4 is highly unlikely to persuade you to do so.

Apple Pay

One of the massive selling points of the Apple iPhone 6 Plus is the forthcoming Apple Pay functionality. This is rumoured to be going live when iOS 8 is updated on October 20. Already PayPal is seemingly running scared, and many industry analysts expect Apple Pay to become a market leader. The Galaxy Note 4 will of course feature NFC technology, but it has been reported that Apple Pay is already generating buzz among consumers.

Security

Finally, another good reason to opt for the iPhone 6 is that the Apple operating system is considerably more secure than Android. A recent Google study indicated that 97 percent of malware is on the Android platform. Using the iPhone 6 quite simply remains considerably safer than utilizing the Galaxy Note 4.

Conclusion

Apple continues to deliver an incredibly slick package with its iPhone series that always provides a user-friendliness and design quality that defines the mobile marketplace. However, Samsung is closing the gap, and many fans of the Galaxy range will point to its superior spec and features in certain areas. Opting for one over the other may remain a matter of taste, but critics still generally consider the iPhone 6 to be the slickest of all mobile products, so Samsung will have to produce something outstanding to deter the critics from this opinion when the Galaxy Note 4 is released.

ComputersHackers Have Found A Flaw In Macs &are Using It To Control 17,000 Apple Computer by onlykay(op): 8:22pm On Oct 03, 2014
Criminals have discovered a flaw in OS X, the Mac operating system, and are using it to control thousands of Apple computers around the world.

The Russian security company Dr. Web first discovered the software, known as "Mac.BackDoor.iWorm." We don't yet know how the software spreads, but Dr. Web has released information on the clever way it connects to the criminals who control the program.

When a Mac is infected with Mac.BackDoor.iWorm, the program tries to make a connection to a command server. The iWorm reportedly uses Reddit's search function to find comments left by the criminals in a Minecraft discussion section of the site. (Minecraft is the block-building video game published by independent publisher Mojang, which Microsoft purchased for $2.5 billion in September.)

After iWorm finds the Reddit comments, it attempts to connect to the server addresses listed in the Minecraft subreddit. Once connected, criminals can send commands to their "botnet" of infected computers. Botnets are often used to send spam emails, mine Bitcoin, or flood websites with traffic that eventually crashes them.

It doesn't seem like the infected computers are currently being used for any attack, so the criminals behind iWorm are probably only growing the network for now.

Dr. Web has published the number of computers that it believes have been affected by iWorm. As of last Friday, 17,658 infected Mac computers have been discovered, with 4,610 of them in the US.

CelebritiesThere Are 12 Million Millionaires In The World, But Only 2,325 Billionaires. by onlykay(op): 8:01pm On Oct 03, 2014
That's an exclusive club, of which the likes of Warren Buffett, Jack Ma, and Oprah Winfrey are members.

Digging into research firm Wealth-X's new Billionaire Census, we found that billionaires have some commonalities.

Such as:

• If there is an average billionaire, he or she is worth around $3 billion. Or roughly one Snapchat.

• Billionaires have a combined wealth of $7.3 trillion, a 12% increase from last year. That's higher than the market capitalization of all the Dow Jones companies put together. Put another way, if all the world's billionaires decided to join forces and become a country, their combined wealth would be greater than the GDP than Japan.

• The 2,325 billionaires control 4% of the wealth in the world. The more inclusive 1% of the world's population controls 40% of the wealth.

• For every three million people on earth there's a single billionaire. Lonely, right?

• Europe has more billionaires than any other region. The Old World has 775 of them.

• The US has more than any other country. America has 571 billionaires, with 57 newly minted members since last year.

• 60% of billionaires made their wealth themselves, like Jack Ma and Larry Ellison. Meanwhile, 26.9% became billionaires from re-investing inherited wealth, and 13% of them inherited their billionaire status straight out.

• Getting to billionaire status takes a while. Your average billionaire is 63 years old, and 93% of the world's billionaire population is over 45.

• Billionaires invest a lot in real estate, at about $160 million per person. They tend to have four properties — it supports "the billionaire lifestyle," the report says.

• Billionaires tend to have "non-real estate luxury assets." They sound really fun. "For example, one in 30 billionaires owns a sports team or a racehorse," the report says. "Other significant luxury assets include yachts, planes, cars, and art."

• Billionaires are into matrimony. 65% of them are married.

• Billionaires love the Ivy League. While billionaires went to over 700 different universities, the Ivies have the most grads: 25 went to the University of Pennsylvania, 22 went to Harvard, and 20 went to Yale.

• But a surprising number of billionaires don't have a college degree. 35% never finished undergrad.

• Billionaires tend to work in finance. Almost 20% of billionaires made their careers on Wall Street or its equivalents.
