Guys, don't follow tbis pls. You may burn your fingers if you rely on this info,it is not 100% correct.

Social Work - There was interview and the number to be admitted depends on the capacity of the dept. Lecturers complain our set of 42students is high hence the need to reduce this year. The criteria to be used,I don't know but I can assure you,the number of candidates to be admitted will be less than 42.

ECCE- They did not conduct DPT last year, but they did interview on Thursday.

It may be like false, but some dept check your alma-mata to decide as well in cases where they have large number of candidates.

You must be exceptional in Economics DPT to get admission. The dept does not admit large numbers

Chemistry as well, your DPT cut off depends on your specialisation. E.g physical and environmental chemistry used 42 and 44 respectively last year.

So Ife-Ibadan is the only road in Nigeria?

I was just using it as an example to see the extent of poor roads. I know we have other dilapitated roads.

Have you seen some of the roads in the North?
NO,till you tell me.
When next she wants to criticize, she should be specific. A stretch of Lagos-Ibadan expressway was tarred sometime back.
Lagos-Ibadan expressway. Road that is spanning more than 3yrs. If you use that number of years to fix a road, how long with it take to fix other roads like the one I mentioned.
Criticism is not just opening mouth and mentioning the weaknesses of a person. It involves research and specificity. Blaming Buhari for everything would be encouraging other elected officers to be negligent since they know that Buhari will take all the blames, even if the mistake is theirs.
The present administration has done little on infrastructural development and even, some roads don't need new construction but pallative measures to ease movement. Who should I criticise, OBJ? When GEJ was in power,he was criticised likewise other past leaders so,why should PMB be different.
Celebrities / Re: Yemi Alade Slams Buhari: "Why Are Our Leaders So Heartless?" by onlyme07(m): 10:01am On Oct 12, 2018
The day you travel Ife-Ibadan expressway, you will understand what she meant by "no good roads". The day you try to assist someone get to the hospital and you hear, "we are sorry,we don't have the facility for this" then you will understand her statement.

To me,we are all at fault. We ALL sbould be poisoned for another generation to build a new Nigeria because our father has failed us,and we would surely fail our generation because we have inherited their traits..!!!

Who killed him Gbenga Daniel? Lol. ..Some of you guys sha .

In 2007, ANPP a not too popular party in Ogun State had more votes than a well known AC that had Dipo Dina as its candidate.. .it's definitely you that knows nothing about Ogun Politics.

Bro,you don't know anything about Ogun State politics. Let me tutor you a little.

Dipo Dina of blessed memory was Remo,he was assasinated like Funsho Willams and others. Dipo had so many secrets of Gbenga Daniel's administration,he started revealing and heads stared rolling in Oke-Mosan. People lost their jobs, some resigned voluntarly while others went on exile due to the pressure from the administration and the killer squad in Ogun state comprised of cultist who were available to do exactly as ordered. They had to eliminate Dipo so that Pdp will remain in power but who killed him, only God and the police can answer that.

On the issue of Amosun, the man has been greedy since wayback, even when he was in ANPP,he dominated the party that rarely can you name anyone in ANPP back then. The present tussle in Ogun State is because of GNI (Yewa) and not Dapo Abiodun (Ijebu). Amosun is ready to use anyone from Yewa aside GNI because of his closeness to OBJ where he has vouch not to have anything to do with again due to his stubborness.

Believe you me,the problem can only be resolved if GNI accepts to work with Amosun and Amosun also play along with OBJ like OBJ did back then. He was in PDP and aligned with APC to usher in Amosun. That is what will gather Yewa votes and Egba will go along with Yewa while Ijebu will just have theirs shared among them, 'cos they have lots of aspirants from that side.

For Yewa to be power, they must present a consensus candidate and its btw GNI and Tripple A. GNI is the favourite for the Egbas, the Yewa won't have a choice than to vote for thier son.

Received a
ruiyeye:
Before i go into details about the workshop (for the final 10) and the application process, i think its fair to let you know ahead of time that i was unsuccessful with the actual BSG application. 6 people have confirmed that they received "success emails"... i will let AIG reveal their genders/nationalities (very talented blend)

...So i was selected as part of the top 10. The email came in 30 November. Imagine the anxiety on our whatsapp group when the emails dropped every 15mins and people confimed they had received an invite to the Workshop. We got to number 8 and there were 2 spots left. suddenly no more confirmations. The panic became real. Two days after, the last 2 people notified the group. 7 Nigerians, 3 Ghanaians. 5 males and 5 females. The 20+ of us who got interviewed stayed on the group.

December 8. The workshop. A BSG alum shared his expefience with us. That was really helpful, although he could not give as much details as we would have liked.
We also had a number of people explain how to prepare; CVs, personal statements and the policy brief (this was the most annoying document, might share my experienc). It took the entire day. The 10 of us fomed a great bond and we would go on to become friends - visiting one another, sharing government polices etc etc.

The policy brief is probably the hardest bit. I struggled with this for weeks. Not because i didn't know what to write, but because there was so much to write in terms of background (third world issues are not so similar to European /Western issues, you know!??!), facts and supporting argument. In hindsight, i should have focused on one major issue and built a very very compelling case around it. Next time, maybe?

For obvious reasons i cannot share every experience. But its IMPORTANT you begin to massage the ego of your referee. Satan enters people. Especially when you're close to greatness. Lol. Enough said on that matter.

There's also the issue of getting your application reviewed by as many people as possible. So, December was a little tough for me. I rushed my application amd got only one person to review. Bad idea. I should have settled down, shared with more people, rewritten and shared with some more people. In addition to having a lean review process, i was stubborn. At the time, i thought i was being self-confident. (If you make it through to the finals, you might hear a thing or two about me). Its probably the reason why i didn't get selected by BSG.

Deadline for application was early January (i dont remember the date). Oxford peomised to respond by 16 March. However, Between January and yesterday i received at least 6 emails from BSG/Oxford. I completed every survey and read through all "communications" with great disgust. Gimme my result, mba. It finally came in (for me at least) at 7:49pm, 12 March 2018, when i least expected...if you've applied for plenty jobs, you probably know the template regret email. People of God, na the template email. I posted the "news on the group". Silence.

About an hour later, the announcement of "got in!" Came in trickles. After 2hours we knew the final 6. Quick one: i correctly guessed 5 of the final 6 correctly. I was to be the 6th, in my mind. Lol.

They all deserve to be on the program. You will hear great things from each of them - i assure you. *Watch out for the ladies especially*

What you should consider if you ever make this/any other application (again):

Be prepared. Plan your essay/cv which you intend to sibmit to both AIG and BSG. Preparing days or weeks to the application will never help. If youre interested in public policy/service, you don't realise because there's a free scholarship. You demonstrate and prepare for an opportunity.

Be informed. Read nairaland well. Most importantly, read the BSG blog.

Always "loud" your achievement. Do not be fooled into thinking "modesty" will help you. Imagine youre in a race with 2,000 people with the same skill set as yourself. How do you stand out? Some might ask you to downplay real achievement. Who they help?

Volunteer/give back to community/be committed (somehow) to the public sector. I didnt really do this, but i had a secret weapon which slightly impressed AIG assessors. I can tell you about it, but I'd have to kill you cheesy

Select the right referees. Satan enters people. People can act like evil spirits. (I didnt have issues, but people can be wicked!)

...it is obviously disappointing that i will not be with friends in Oxford in september. However, i rest easy with the assurance that there are many roads which lead to the market. Beyond applying, give something back to the community.

P.S: when/if pix of the final 10 get published, look out for a guy standing behind everyone in dark glasses, without a tie. Just might be me smiley

Hope this was helpful for those who will apply later in 2018. All the best.

Thanks for this piece. The race for 2020 has just began.

Best of luck guys

My problem witb the scheme is the same problem I have with Nigeria yet we (youths) fail to stand up to the so called elites. I have always said, one thing will break Nigeria very soon,it will not be expected but it will happen and every body will part ways.

Since last year, these folks did an online exam and till date,it has been one story to another. When it comes to the masses, they do thourogh investigation to ascertain beneficiaries but when the rich is involved,it will be sorted afterwards.

You want to be loyal 100%,use them and dump. Some have not been able to further their studies due to loyalty while some who have started have been witch-hunted by their bosses as if 30k is a good package for a graduate. I read here on NL, a guy started his Master's when he did the online test and now he's about rounding up. Imagine if he had waited till Npower started,he would not have done anything.

No special treatment for persons with disabilities since rat abi monkey has eaten the bill in NASS. Why on earth will you post someone on wheelchair to a school with upstairs. ? Why can't you give them office work?

Sadly,my people, your protest will not bring anything good, they will term it to be politically motivated. Lots of folks have protested for a better Nigeria, what's the outcome?

Npower officials, see youths vulnerable as politicians see the masses. They tbink they are doing the youths something special as the Govs commission roads as if,it was not out of tax payers money. They are not doing anyone any good.

Nigeria, will be a better country if only we follow the Rawlings theory that states, kill them all (politicians and bigwigs) and have peace

What do you mean by "without KNOWING anyone there?" Stop misleading applicants and tarnishing the University's image! If you or any of your loved ones had applied to a supposedly "competitive" Department and was not offered admission based on POOR performance in the Test(s) and/or poor first degree result should not make you to fill the heads of naive applicants with lies and fears!

You do NOT need to "know" anyone here to gain admission. I did not and still don't know anyone here, yet I was amongst the 13 candidates out of hundreds to be offered admission into Criminology. I know MANY other M.Sc students that got admitted without knowing anyone. If you fail, you fail out; if you pass the EPT and other requirements you get admitted. That is UI for you, they work on MERIT to a great extent!

No mind the guy ( leo10000),he thinks UI is like is alma-mata. Ace your EPT and dept test (if applicable), your admission is guaranteed. Some even say,UI does not admit students from private institution,I laugh. Pls,correct every bit of your negative thought, the admission is very free and fair even in competitive dept.
Best of luck to you all.
