CelebrityP: Am going to be following dis thread @ onarie my ankara is kinda light, will it be ok, or i shld get a thicker material?Thanks for following dear - when u say 'light' how do u mean, it would help if you specify the type of ankara, although whatever ankara we use, we are going to fuse fabric stay all over. Check up the print and let us know. There's loads to choose from, hitarget ,vlisco,Binta,Amina, excellence,daviva plenty! |
zaliya: Thanks Onnari. Pls just repost the pix for clarity sake.Done! |
Favourhascome: Is shoulder pads compulsory?? I don't like it @timesWell, for a jacket, it's better you use shoulder pads. It helps the fit and structure. If u don't want the higher ones, u cld get the type used for men which is flat. |
EFOSA VAL: Hello all.Hello egos a! Yes it's been a while o! N trust u doing great. All the verrrrrrry best in ur upcoming show, thanks for the invites too. Yeah I intend splitting the jacket for instructors. For now to just us two. No one else has volunteered. Ps. It's ok to post about ur show! No need to apologise lol |
First of all, I'll be posting the intended piece for the September sew along. Here it is.
|
. |
delishpot: Yayyyy let me prepare. Biko onari which jacket are you zalking about? I dont see it o.Now d@s d spirit! Ts the Xclamations one posted by oduamine. The one with two identical ankara jackets in d same pic. Seen? interested instructors for this sew along- please indicate. |
Based on the photo u posted of yourself, I'd say btw 1.5 and 2 yards of ankar, seeing that it's long sleeved +has a continuous lapel+would be lined half way in front in ankara. If u using another fabric that comes in a width of 60" you'd use less. Ankara is 45" wide. The zippers r really short,kinda like the ones used for ur jeans trousers. |
Ankara fabric, underlinning,fabric stay,shpoulder pads,buttons, short zippers(only if you wanna), contrasting fabric for the cuffs(it don't have to be black),notions. See u guys later-have a great day! |
The Xclamations jacket it is then. ..hope you all agree with it? Have a look at it again,get your fabric ready, and as soon as I'm settled(just got home :-) I'll type out necessary 'tools' for those of us who'll need extra help. |
Voting ends tomorrow.... |
So far we'v only got about 5 votes- we need a bit more to be clear on the piece to use for this month. Please ppl vote- voting ends on the 15th of this month. This is a jacket and a bit more complex than the previous dresses so we'll need TIME thus the rest of the 15 days of the month for everyone-. Thnx! |
@sissie- no I don't |
CuteXclaim: You guys are doing a great job. Can't wait to xplore d fun, and other benefits in dis sew along. This is another jacket I think I should post. Pls, how do I vote for d one I like? Am I to click on the like or just comment on it?.You comment on it. |
BedLam: I believe these are the same things I see Nigerians buying from antique stores . Good one op. Please don you know how I can convert my mobile phone to a car?Lol! Here's how- depending on the phone you use, e.g with an iphone u can get a jeep. All u need do is, get four tires glued to the bottom of ur fone, attach a steering wheel and an engine or BETTER YET, use it to call a car dealer for any car of your choice *grin * |
yodiyokun: @Onnari and all the teachers, thanks for sharing your knowlegde so generously.You welcome! Participants actually are the ones who make this thread. U guys r great! Can't wait to see your dreSs. |

wizb: @Onnari, can we do a jacket for the september sew-along? Ankara jackets are in vogue now and I think it flatters almost all kinds of body shapes.Hello dearie- I don't have the power to say that as everyone has to vote so it all depends on what you guys send in, and what ppl vote for so this time around AS MANY PPL AS POSSIBLE should VOTE!so we have lots to choose from. O! Plus it's more fun when everyone or almost everyone sends in @ least a photo. Ps. U can send in anything,in ankara , english whatever. |
