PoliticsPeace And Unity Restored In Igbo Speaking As Chief Sunday Eze Voluntarily Steps by onochurch(op): 12:28am On Jul 20, 2025
Peace and unity restored in Igbo speaking as Chief Sunday Eze voluntarily steps down for Chief Sunday Udeh as PG

By Naomisophysblog

A moment of reconciliation and unity hit the Igbo-speaking community in Lagos State, accompanied by a new peaceful transition of leadership as Chief Sunday Eze voluntarily steps down for Chief Sunday Udeh to occupy the position of President General, following a consent judgement obtained by the Board of Trustees. This symbolises the restoration of peace within the Igbo-speaking community.

The decision was made at a meeting attended by the BOT Chairman of the Igbo Speaking Community led by Dr Jonathan Nnaji, legal adviser Prince I. Nwafuru, and various stakeholders. The consent judgement ended a four-year litigation between Chief Sunday Eze and Chief Sunday Udeh.

The meeting held at the headquarters of the Igbo Speaking Community in Surulere on Friday, July 18th, 2025, was also attended by the two factions of the Igbo-speaking community led by Chief Udeh and Eze; members of the Council of Ezendigbo led by Eze Chika Nwokedi; leaders from various LCDA in the state; and other stakeholders, including women. The meeting concluded with Chief Sunday Udeh awaiting the inauguration of new executives.

Dr Nnaji, the BOT Chairman, informed the stakeholders that the meeting's goal was to let them know that the BOT had finally obtained a consent judgement, putting a stop to the lawsuit between the Chief Sunday Eze and Chief Sunday Udeh groups that had begun four years prior.

Barrister Nwafuru, the BOT legal counsel, was then instructed by Dr Nnaji to read the court ruling to the stakeholders, which included the following:

*The position that is expected to be contested is only the position of the President-General, and the eligible candidates are the two factional President-Generals and any other candidates that can be identified by the parties.

*Where the President emerges from one faction, the other faction shall produce the Vice President, the Secretary General and the Treasurer, provided that where the positions of the 1st Vice President, the Secretary General and the Treasurer are unopposed, the contestants who purchased forms shall be declared irrespective of the factions they come from.

*Other positions shall be shared equitably between the two factions, and the elected and shared positions shall form the new Executive of the Community.

*The Peace Committee Members shall sign this Terms of Settlement signifying their acceptance.

*The cost of forms for the election is to be determined by the Electoral Committee.

*Each President General and the Executive of the two factions hereby confirm that they have had their first term of four years.

*The parties hereby agree that all actions, suits, claims and/or counterclaims, petitions, motions, injunctions and/or other liabilities sought or obtained by any of the parties and pending before this Honourable Court or any other court or adjudicating body in respect of, relating to or arising from the subject matter of this suit shall abate upon the entry of the terms of settlement herein as the judgement of this Honourable Court.

*Any other suit filed by any of the parties in court or elsewhere shall be withdrawn and automatically abates upon entering of these terms of settlement as a judgement of a court.

*The Parties hereby undertake that none of them, their agents, privies, directors or anyone claiming through or for them shall institute any other legal action, suits, claims and/or counterclaims against each other in respect of the subject matter of this Terms of Settlement.

*That the terms should be the consent judgement of this honourable court.

*All terms, provisions, conditions and covenants herein shall be binding and shall inure to the benefit of the respective successors and assigns of the parties in this suit. The officers executing these Terms of Settlement do so as agents or attorneys of their respective factions and covenant and represent that they have complete authority to enter into and execute these Terms of Settlement.

*These Terms of Settlement constitute the entire agreement between the Parties and supersede any prior oral and/or written agreements between them in respect of this subject matter, and there are no representations, understandings or agreements relating to the subject matter thereof that are not expressed herein.

*The parties shall bear their respective costs of this action.

*This Terms of Settlement is made in good faith by both parties."

The position of president general, held by Chief Udeh, has been decided upon based on the consent judgement and Chief Eze's resignation, according to Dr Nnaji. Other positions will be applied appropriately and decided upon following the BOT's meeting with the committee to harmonise the electoral process.

Nnaji pointed out that there are still unresolved concerns, such as the unity of Ndieze under the auspices of the Council of Ndieze, which was established in 2003, and the profiling of Ndieze that has not yet been acknowledged by the BOT. He thanked Chief Sunday Eze and the stakeholders for resigning, which made the BOT's job simpler. He also stated that the new executives would be revealed once the committee that was chosen had unified other concerns.

Chief Sunday Udeh referred to Chief Sunday Eze as the Jonathan of the Igbo-speaking community and praised him for resigning so that peace might return to the Igbo-speaking society. Additionally, he expressed gratitude to the BOT, particularly to Dr Nnaji, for his tireless efforts to bring peace back to the Igbo-speaking society. In order to create a robust and dynamic community in the state, Chief Udeh pledged to bring together all members of the Igbo-speaking communities spread throughout the state's 20 local government areas.

Chief Sunday Eze clarified that he made the sacrifice of resigning in order to restore peace in the village, and he did not notify his group of his choice beforehand. Since Chief Sunday Eze's group will create the Vice President, General Secretary, and Treasury, and Chief Udeh will generate the remaining members to form the new executives, his group did not entirely lose out.

After many years of conflict, Eze Chika Nwokedi expressed joy that the Igbo-speaking community is now at peace. He clarified that he had tried everything to settle the issue, even offering both parties N2.5 million, but they had turned it down. He said that the stakeholders, including Dr Nnaji, the chairman of the BOT, applauded Chief Sunday Eze's voluntary resignation without receiving any compensation. He also had productive talks with Dr Nnaji about how to establish enduring peace among the Igbo-speaking community in Lagos State.

PoliticsHuman Rights Advocate Knocks Femi Adesina For Berating Nigeria's Healthcare Syst by onochurch(op):
Human rights advocate knocks Femi Adesina for berating Nigeria's healthcare system.

……Urge Tinubu government to upgrade the healthcare sector in Nigeria.

By Naomi Onome

Nigerians have slammed Femi Adesina's careless remarks regarding Buhari's treatment not being provided in Nigeria due to a poor healthcare system. Comrade Prince Saviour Iche queries whether Adesina is implying that Nigeria lacks competent medical professionals or a strong healthcare system, given that the healthcare sector's shortcomings arise from a failure to maintain and improve hospital equipment to meet acceptable healthcare standards.

He further stated,

"Femi Adesina must explain to Nigerians what he meant in detail when he said that Buhari being treated in Nigeria would have killed him a long time ago. His reckless speech begs the question, does Femi mean that Nigeria does not have quality doctors? How can quality doctors perform with inadequate equipment?"

"Femi's shameful remark in mockery of Nigeria's health care sector further portrays how poor the sector has become. It is also unfortunate that those previously in government, "Femi Adesina and his late principal, Pres. Muhammadu Buhari", know how deteriorating the healthcare sector has been in their 8 years of leadership yet subjected the masses to patronise and embrace Nigeria's poor healthcare system."

"Buhari was close to Femi Adesina, who served as his spokesperson. When he was in charge, why didn't he advise Buhari to construct a hospital that would be comparable to those used overseas? Femi Adesina would have been detained and interrogated for his statement if he had been in a nation with law and order."

"Why is the Nigerian government unable to create an advanced healthcare sector here as seen abroad? Are they unaware that some medical conditions make flying unsafe, as recommended by the doctor? What, then, is the true issue with our politicians? The president and all other branches of government must respond to this query."

"Femi Adesina is aware that Nigerian hospitals are death traps, but what has been done to address this during his 8-year reign with the late President Muhammadu Buhari? His boldness is quite shameful. According to Adesina, Nigerian hospitals are death traps, and the general public cannot afford to travel overseas for medical care, unlike politicians. Adesina, who stated that Buhari's treatment in Nigeria would have killed him long ago, needs to go into depth to explain what he meant to Nigerians."

"The so called abroad hospitals that they run to, live situations have shown that they still die there even as advanced as these hospitals are, Nigeria do not lack expertise, they are left with little or nothing to work with as tools of engagement."

"Regarding Nigerian politicians, I would like to inform them that, regardless of whether they construct quality hospitals for the general public or not, we will continue to live off of native herbs as alternative medicines provided by God, who is aware that we have evil leaders in authority, is protecting the people."

Comrade Prince Saviour Iche nudges politicians to be held accountable for their actions, stating that Nigerian hospitals are death traps for politicians and the wealthy, while the masses struggle with limited treatment options. Iche believes that the masses will continue to survive with alternative medicines (local herbs), as they are provided by God, and urges President Tinubu's government to upgrade the Nigerian healthcare system and equip doctors.

CrimeSamuel Chukwudi Aka Chuks Re-arrested For Allegations Of Blackmail, Parades Self by onochurch(op): 1:31pm On Jul 18, 2025
Samuel Chukwudi aka Chuks Re-Arrested For Allegations of Blackmail, Parades Self as Chief Mike Okiro's Son to Avert Prosecution

By Imota Ambrose

Retired Inspector General of Police, Mike Okiro, has been mentioned for accommodating the excesses of Samuel Chukwudi Timothy, who claims he is the Rtd Inspector General's first son to avoid being prosecuted for his many atrocious actions, including blackmail. Samuel Chukwudi Timothy, also known as Chuks, has been re-arrested by the police operatives of the Zone 2 Command in Lagos. He is accused of threatening and blackmailing Eze Chika Nwokedi, the Chairman of the Council of Ezendigbo Lagos.

According to reports, Chuks allegedly made several TikTok videos defaming and blackmailing Eze Chika Nwokedi, Chief Sunny Akpoyibo and reporters who wrote a court angle story of when he was arrested previously in 2023. This is reportedly not the first time Chucks has been arrested for similar offences involving Eze Nwokedi, and the monarch had previously forgiven Chucks after he was arrested and charged in court, but Chukwudi allegedly continued to harass him even after the pardon.

Chucks claims to be the son of a retired Inspector General of Police, Mike Okiro, but investigations suggest this claim may be false. In the bid to avoid prosecution, the self-acclaimed first son of retired Inspector General of Police Mike Okiro, Samuel Chukwudi Timothy, aka Chucks, after pardon in 2023, has allegedly continued the act of threatening and blackmailingthe Chairman of the Council of Ezendigbo, Eze Chika Nwokedi.

Reports have it that the 52-year-old Samuel Timothy was arrested on Wednesday and detained following a petition written by Eze Nwokedi against him for allegedly making over 10 TikTok videos defaming and blackmailing Eze Nwokedi over nothing.

This begs the question, what exactly is the crime of Eze Chika Nwokedi warranting public bullying and blackmailing from Samuel Chukwudi Timothy?

This is not the first time; Chucks was arrested for committing a similar offence against Eze Nwokedi and Chief Sunny Akpoyibo. For this, he was arrested and charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court and remanded in a correctional centre at Kirikiri town for the same offence.

Link to read pardon report:https://naomisophyblog.com.ng/eze-chika-nwokedi-welcomes-pardon-plea-by-chukwudi-samuel-withdraws-case-of-defamation-from-court/

Moreover, Eze Chika Nwokedi later withdrew the matter after so many calls came through begging on behalf of Chukwudi for pardon, including Chukwudi himself; Nwokedi forgave via a formal withdrawal from court, setting Samuel Chukwudi free.

However, the situation took a new turn as Chukwudi Samuel began to harass Eze Chika Nwokedi again immediately he was freed. Samuel Chukwudi, on the day of his total freedom from the case with Eze Nwokedi at the Ejigbo Magistrates Court, witnessed how four women, including a pregnant woman, were remanded in custody over #240,000 and how Eze Nwokedi volunteered to pay off their debts in a show of compassion.

Eze Nwokedi, who was touched by the inability of the four suspects (all women) who were brought from Kirikiri custody due to debt owing, raised his hand and told the presiding magistrate, Mrs K.A. Ariyo, that he volunteers to pay the debt owed by the four ladies for their freedom.

Timothy, who witnessed the scenario, began to ask Eze Nwokedi, who just pardoned him, to buy him a tricycle since he has such money to help the debtors in court to secure the release of the women who are strangers to Eze Nwokedi, a very unreasonable request from someone who was just pardoned for offences of serial blackmail.

Eze Nwokedi blatantly refused and demanded he never come his way again; this response was met with another series of blackmail by Chukwudi Samuel via TikTok videos and other social media forums to defame Eze Chika Nwokedi for over one year, leading to the recent re-arrest.

Hence, a petition dated 24th November, 2024, by the office of Barrister Peter Nnajiego Chambers to the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Zone 2, Command Headquarters, Mr Fayoade Adegoke, on behalf of Eze Chika Nwokedi, stated:

Sir,

"RE: PETITION AGAINST MR CHUKWUDI SAMUEL TIMOTHY OF IJEGUN, LAGOS STATE, AND HIS COHORTS FOR THREAT TO LIFE AND PROPERTY OF EZE DR CHIKA NWOKEDI AND CONDUCT LIKELY TO CAUSE BREACH OF THE PUBLIC PEACE."

"We are solicitors to Eze, Dr Chika Nwokedi of Ijegun, Lagos State (hereinafter called our client), on whose instruction we state as follows:

It is our instruction that for some months now, the above-named Mr Chukwudi Samuel Timothy and his cohorts have constituted themselves as thorns in the flesh of our client for no reason."

It is our further instruction that the said Mr Chukwudi and his cohorts have sworn to waste our client if unchecked."

It is our briefing that about 4 days ago this group, led by Mr Chukwudi, invaded our client's premises with harmful implements, viz., cutlasses, broken bottles and iron rods, with a singular plan to waste our client but for the people around."

It is our instruction that the said Mr Chukwudi has even gone to social media, inviting all his men to ensure that our innocent client is mercilessly dealt with if seen anywhere."

It is our instruction that our client now lives in fear of the said Mr Chukwudi and his cohorts, who have boasted of their ability to get away with any crime committed, boasting of their political tin gods that make them untouchable in Lagos State."

Premised on the above, we have our client's firm instruction to cry to your office praying you, sir, come to the aid of our client, save our client's life and property from the estranged Mr Chukwudi and his cohorts, bring them to book and restore the hope of our client in his right to life and freedom of movement."

We are of the opinion that only your fatherly and timely intervention will meet the justice of our client's case.

Thanks for your fatherly understanding.

Yours faithfully,

Peter Nnajego, Esq."

Timothy had avoided being arrested for his multiple crimes with evidence against him after the petition was granted for investigation until he was recently caught in Zone 2 premises. He was given administrative bail to appear on Monday of next week so that the accusations could be looked into further after he told the police in no uncertain terms that he is Mike Okiro's first son.

Eze Nwokedi, who maintained that he wants Chucks to be tried for the sake of justice, corroborated this; he claimed that after committing a similar offence and being detained and charged by the Isheri Oshun Division police, Chukwudi begged for forgiveness and was granted it, only to resume his blackmailing act because Eze Chika, who had previously granted Chuks a pardon, refused to purchase him a tricycle as he requested, which led to further defamation.

Chuck claimed to be the first son of Rtd IGP Mike Okiro; however, research showed that Chuks is not his son and they do not share the exact same community in Imo State. He was regarded as an independent photographer and had not, as he had previously stated, collaborated with Vanguard officially. Additional disclosures confirm that he was not related by blood but did reside with Mike Okiro as a young man. He is among those Chief Mike Okiro accommodated and has never approved of Chuks using his name as a shield after committing a crime.

CrimeRe: Sunday And Tope Alese Apologises To Siblings Mrs. Gbadebo Mosunmola And Femi by onochurch(op): 11:39am On Jul 16, 2025
Re: Sunday and Tope Alese Apologises To Siblings Mrs. Gbadebo Mosunmola and Femi Oliver Over Malicious Publication

...as Naomisophysblog withdraws publication against Mosunmola Gbadebo, tender apology.

By Naomisophysblog

To remedy whatever misperception about the persons of Mosunmola Gbadebo and Femi Oliver, who were alleged to have committed various dastardly acts against their siblings in the reports that went viral, P.M. Express and Naomisophy Blog have pulled down reports, apologetically describing publications given by Gbenga and Tope Alese as journalism that portrayed a one-sided story which turned out to be misinformation.

The brothers stated that the publication was not intended to malign them and it was unfortunate that what is a family matter has gone to the public domain and worsened their relationship.

On Sunday, Gbenga Alese stated that as the eldest son in the family, he has appealed to the two media houses, P.M.EXPRESS and Naomisophy's Blog, to pull the story down, which they have graciously done.

The reports titled "Woman arrested for allegedly hiring assassins to kill siblings over mother's property" and published on June 13th, 2025, by both online media platforms greatly unsettled the alleged characters, leading to intense family crises, arrests, detention and sundry police investigations.

It should be noted that Gbenga and Tope Alese petitioned their sister Mosunmola Gbadebo to FCIID Alagbon for fear of alleged assassination over their mother's property, as initially reported by the two siblings, which led to the public outcry but was regretted after their sister petitioned the two siblings involved to Zone 2 Command for aiding a maliciously misleading publication that they later denied and regretted in a plea for settlement.

Reacting to the development, Mosunmola Gbadebo expressed great displeasure over the news, which she said had inflammatory, defamatory and criminal contents capable of dragging her reputation in the mud. According to Mosunmola, there was no reason for her half-siblings to go to such an extent just to score a point against her.

In a similar vein, Femi Oliver, a younger sibling, who was defamed alongside Gbadebo, stated that his half-brothers, Tope and Gbenga Alese, were so unbrotherly in their media onslaught against him and Mosunmola. He further noted that as a pastor, his name has been seriously tarnished.

It is revealed that the siblings are enmeshed in squabbles over their late mother's sprawling estate, a situation that now links past and recent misunderstandings, allegations and counter-allegations that reached a scary crescendo.

Findings also showed that family elders and others have waded in, intervention that is currently putting an end to all grievances and assuaging angered ones, especially Mosunmola, who is eldest and stands as mother to all!

As a special reaction to the media showcase, Gbenga Sunday Alese specially condemned the publications which had the tendency to scandalise her elder sister Mosunmola and younger brother Femi.

He asked why on earth anyone would publicly refer to his sister as an assassin, stressing that despite all, he has a deep-rooted love for his big sister.

He therefore emphasised that at any point when they had dragged themselves before any authority, it was due to natural internal disagreement that merely needed intrinsic resolution – stating that any media exposure is obviously the handiwork of close and distant enemies, who want their family bond shattered.

Consequently, Tope Alese stated that his sister Mosunmola has always been his favourite.

He further said that Femi Oliver is one of his cherished late mother's offspring and that he is saddened by the very unwarranted media infiltration into a family matter. Like his brother, he pointed to enemies as orchestrators.

The siblings are enmeshed in squabbles over their late mother's sprawling estate, a situation that now links past and recent misunderstandings, allegations and counter-allegations that reached a scary crescendo. With the public apology to the siblings, it appears peace has gradually returned to the family cherished so much by their late mom.

Meanwhile, the police at Zone 2, where Mosunmola Gbadebo and Femi Oliver took the matter, have warned all who dared to escalate ordinary family matters through media actions to be ready for prosecution if the family peace process hits the rocks, even as the investigation goes on.

CORRIGENDUM:

THIS IS TO NOTIFY THE GENERAL PUBLIC THAT THE REPORT OF JUNE 13, 2025, ON ONE MOSUNMOLA GBADEBO AND FEMI OLIVER, ALLEGING THEM VARIOUSLY, HAS BEEN PULLED DOWN FOLLOWING THE RECENT DEVELOPMENT BECAUSE IT WAS A FAULTY REPORT.

TAKE NOTE.

THANKS!

Accountability: Union Leaders Demand Immediate Reversal of VON DG's Vindictive Redeployment of Staff

By Naomisophysblog

The Lagos State Branch of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government Owned Companies (SSASCGOC) and Radio, Television, Theatre and Art Workers Union (RATTAWU), have expressed grave concerns and outright condemnation over the arbitrary redeployment of some management staff and in-house union leaders at the Voice of Nigeria (VON) by the Director General, Mr. Jibrin Baba Ndace.

In a statement co-signed by Comrade Funmi Sessi, Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress Lagos State; Comrade Abiodun Aladetan, Secretary Trade Union Congress Lagos State Tunde Olalere Secretary, NUJ Lagos State Council; Comrade Ismail Adejumo, Chairman RATTAWU, Lagos State and Comrade Kayode Alakija
President General, SSASCGOC/Deputy President, TUC Lagos State Council on July 14th, 2025 , It is said that, this action is not only unjust but constitutes a direct attack on democratic principles, freedom of expression, and the legitimate role of unions in demanding transparency and accountability. We are also aware of the Director General’s flagrant disregard for civil service rules, processes and procedures over time.

Reports reaching the State unions confirm that the affected officials were redeployed shortly after raising pertinent concerns regarding the current VON leadership’s operational and administrative practices which are antithetical to VON’s survival and growth.

We are aware of a letter addressed to the Director General by the In-house union leaders, dated March 22, 2025, titled "Ploy to Render Lagos Staff Redundant."

Some of the fundmental issues raised in the letter to the VON Director General include:

No diesel supply to Lagos office since the third quarter of 2024, leaving VON solely dependent on unstable public power for its broadcast operations.
Non-functional, unconducive studios, which have seriously undermined production quality and efficiency.
Absence of cleaning staff, due to unpaid salaries amounting to millions of naira, resulting in deteriorated workplace hygiene and safety.
Non-functional operational vehicles.
Non-functional toilet facilities, forcing staff to rely on those of the neighbouring FRCN offices.

Rather than respond constructively to calls for organisational operational function and accountability, the DG has chosen to weaponize his office, in what is clearly an act of retaliation, victimisation and official intimidation in an authoritarian and dictatorial manner, designed to silence dissent and intimidate workers.

We remind the DG and the general public that union leaders and whistleblowers are protected by law and international labour conventions to which Nigeria is a signatory.

The targeted redeployment of individuals for exercising their constitutional rights to freedom of association and expression amounts to gross abuse of power and a violation of labour laws.

We therefore demand the following with immediate effect:

Immediate reversal of all redeployments linked to the victimization of union leaders and staff who have called for transparency.

Full investigation into allegations of financial impropriety and administrative high-handedness currently trailing the leadership of VON.

Unconditional respect for union rights, including the right to raise concerns without fear of reprisal.

Restoration of industrial harmony through dialogue and adherence to due process in staff management.

We will not stand idly by, while workers are targetted and punished for upholding ethical standards and fighting for institutional integrity. If these demands are not met, we will be left with no option but to mobilize our members in solidarity actions to defend the sanctity of unionism and the dignity of labour.

Fear of OmoBarca: LASIEC omits Labour Party logo on Ajeromi-Ifelodun ballots

By Naomisophysblog

The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has come under scrutiny over allegations that the Labour Party’s logo was removed from ballot papers in the Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government election, sparking public concern and accusations of political bias.

Voters and political stakeholders shared images on social media showing ballot papers listing only the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), with no Labour Party (LP) symbol visible. One voter posted on X, “No Labour Party on the ballot box at Ajeromi Ifelodun,” prompting widespread speculation that the party was being deliberately excluded.

LASIEC Chairperson Justice Mobolanle Okikiolu Ighile maintained that no party was barred from participation in the elections, stating that the commission recognized only the INEC-approved LP faction led by Dayo Ekong. She affirmed that LASIEC was operating under court directives and in compliance with party recognition protocol.

However, the Lagos State Labour Party Publicity Secretary, Barrister Adeola Onikoyi, accused LASIEC of connivance with APC to compromise the LG polls.

“The Labour Party fielded candidates for the local government election in Ajeromi Ifelodun, but LASIEC being compromised only indicated APC and PDP on the ballot papers. They are scared of the Labour Party winning this election. At no time did Pastor Dayo Ekong ask INEC to omit the Labour Party logo because we have candidates contesting the election.

LASIEC is afraid of OmoBarca’s popularity. We shall meet LASIEC in court for conducting the election without the Labour Party logo. APC, in their usual mischief, connived with LASIEC to deny voters their right to vote. We call for the cancellation of the sham LG election that took place yesterday.” Onikoyi said.

Political analysts note that the absence of LP branding from certain ballots is not unusual where the party has chosen not to field candidates. The confusion arose due to the prominence of LP in previous elections, leading many voters to assume it would have universal participation across all wards and councils.

Prominent Labour Party chieftain in the Ajeromi-Ifelodun federal constituency, Hon. Francis Barthlomew Chima, aka OmoBarca, has condemned the disenfranchisement of the vast majority of Labour Party voters during the recent polls.

PoliticsHuman Rights Advocate Calls For NYSC Policy Review by onochurch(op): 11:43pm On Jul 11, 2025
Human Rights Advocate calls for NYSC policy review

By Naomi Onome

Human rights advocate Comrade Prince Saviour Iche addresses the federal government on the disadvantage of NYSC service to Nigerian students and calls for a review or total stoppage. NYSC, as established by former military president Gen. Yakubu Gowon on May 22nd, 1973, for the integration of Nigerians, has not served its purpose in recent years, he said.

Iche stated clearly that the NYSC Scheme should be reviewed following recent happenings not in accordance with the essence of its creation since 1973. In recent years, issues arising from NYSC service seem detrimental to the safety of corpers as well as the total deviation from its course.

Looking at the four main objectives of the NYSC, it states that it was created to enable Nigerian youths to acquire the spirit of self-reliance by encouraging them to develop skills for self-employment, to contribute to the accelerated growth of the national economy, and to develop common ties among the Nigerian youths and promote national unity and integration. The one-year mandatory service for Nigerian graduates (NYSC Scheme) was conceived after the civil war of 1967 as a means to concretize the federal government's agenda of reconciliation, rehabilitation, and reconstruction for national integration.

In the last 10 years, corpers have been killed and kidnapped, and NYSC has promoted zero integration successes so far. Corpers are redeployed to serve in jobs that do not corroborate with their area of specialization, and they are ill-treated by some private organizations with little supervision from their designated coordinators. NYSC has not shown proper supervision in the approved private companies that corpers are designated to work with, and some of these companies treat them poorly. Corpers overtime have landlord-tenant issues leading to dehumanization. It is expected that at the time corpers are serving, it is the duty of the government to protect and establish laws to shield them from all of the aforementioned and not expose them to danger or harsh situations.

It has also been revealed in recent years that the NYSC camp has never-ending parties whereby youths are exposed to unlikely social practices that they must adhere to in accordance with camp rules. Some of these practices are against the religious beliefs of some Corpers, who are left with no choice but to abide.

On the issue of postings to the primary place of assignment for corpers, the federal government should review the assignment based on their area of study. For instance, a situation whereby a law student is posted to go and teach instead of being assigned to a law firm is gross. Students who studied education should be sent to the classroom; accountants should be designated to accounting firms and companies; their area of study should be in accordance with their designated place of service, not otherwise.

Corpers assigned to polling units as electoral agents should be totally abolished, for they are too fragile to be part of such processes. Also, they are usually the most targeted in situations of violence at the polling unit and other vices leading to killings and kidnappings.

All of this begs the question, how effectively has the NYSC integration served its purpose? Oneness cannot be forced amongst Nigerians where tribalism and nepotism have eaten deep; the purpose of NYSC integration is a fruitless effort, and the scheme should be reviewed.

Iche added that

The N77,000 paid to corpers as an allowance is nothing compared to the far places they are posted. The transport and feeding expenses are equivalent to whatever is being paid. The extra should come from their designated primary assignment, but these private establishments do not comply; rather, they pay corpers a token, yet these corpers render full services. Some corpers posted to other states have house rent to pay from the same allowance with little or no support from their guardian. After deducting transport and feeding from their allowance, one will realize there is nothing left.

While in camp, they are taught vocational skills that should have been taught to them during their primary and secondary education, not during NYSC orientation. The government should provide a one-time settlement for graduates after their tertiary education or review the NYSC scheme.

The GHC is the first of its kind in Africa, and its in-depth focus on this public health crisis aligns with the World Health Organization’s vision of eradicating malaria, reflecting the competition’s commitment to making a tangible difference in the fight against this disease.

Malaria remains a critical health challenge in Nigeria, which, according to the W.H.O., carries the highest malaria burden globally, accounting for approximately 27% of malaria cases and deaths worldwide. The Geneith Health Competition, launched by Muhammad Ali Pate, the Minister of Health and Social Welfare of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, represents a groundbreaking approach to mobilizing youth as ambassadors in the fight against malaria. This initiative not only seeks to raise awareness but also actively engages young people in innovative solutions to combat this pervasive disease.

In his response to receiving the award, Prince Cletus Ilobanafor dedicated it to God and to his late father, saying, “I dedicate this award to God and to my father, who just passed on. His belief that ‘service to humanity is key’ is a principle I have promised to uphold.” Ilobanafor emphasized the importance of collaboration, urging stakeholders to support the Geneith Health Competition in their collective mission to eliminate malaria.

“I thank the leadership of Nigerian students for believing in this project. Together, we will eradicate malaria,” he declared, encouraging students to visit the competition’s website to register and participate. Registration for the competition is currently ongoing.

The Geneith Health Competition is not merely a contest; it is a movement designed to empower Nigeria’s youth to take an active stand in public health advocacy. Through education, awareness, and practical engagement, the competition aims to create a generation equipped to confront health challenges and contribute to the well-being of their communities.

Governor Soludo Engages Ndi Anambra in the USA/North America as Tour of Accountability and Inclusive Governance Continues

By Naomisophysblog

As the 2025 Anambra State governorship election draws closer, political candidates are crisscrossing the state, making promises and rallying support.

Yet, while opposition candidates are deep in campaign mode, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, is taking a different approach, one that demonstrates his commitment to good governance over routine politics.

That is how statesmen and visionary leaders are separated from politicians; visionary leaders are mindful of leaving an enduring positive impact, while politicians are desperate to just win the next election.

On Sunday, July 6, the governor will engage with the Anambra Diaspora community in the US and North America at a town hall meeting in Maryland. This is not an election campaign stop; it is another chapter in his administration’s untiring dedication to accountability and inclusive governance that has been the trend in the past three years.

Governor Soludo’s decision to embark on this diaspora engagement at a time when others would be focusing solely on the upcoming election speaks volumes about his leadership philosophy. Unlike typical politicians who flood the airwaves with their usual empty promises as elections approach, Governor Soludo is choosing to let his record speak for itself. His administration has held similar town hall meetings this year: first in Lagos, then Abuja, and later in the UK/Europe, where he presented his achievements, addressed concerns, and outlined his vision for the future of Anambra State.

This upcoming US/North America meeting is a continuation of that noble tradition. It demonstrates that Prof. Soludo sees governance as a continuous contract with the people, not just a seasonal obligation tied to election cycles. While his opponents are busy making grand declarations or criticizing his government, Governor Soludo is busy reporting back to the people, proving that his administration values transparency and performance over political theatrics.

Since assuming office, Governor Soludo has pursued an ambitious solution agenda anchored on economic transformation, security, infrastructure, and human capital development. His administration has made a significant impact in areas such as

Security: Reducing crime through strategic interventions like Agunechemba and technology-driven policing; Infrastructure: Massive road construction and urban renewal projects across the state; Education: Overhauling the public school system, implementing free education policy, and recruiting thousands of teachers; Healthcare: building new general hospitals, upgrading others, hiring new doctors/nurses, and granting free antenatal services to women; Economic Growth: Attracting investments, industrializing, empowering youths, and so much more.

These achievements are tangible results that directly impact the lives of Anambra citizens.

By engaging the diaspora, Governor Soludo recognizes their critical role in the state’s development. In fact, many Ndi Anambra in the US and Canada are key investors, professionals, and philanthropists whose contributions can further accelerate the state’s growth. This town hall is an opportunity to align their expertise and resources with the state’s developmental goals.

Thus, the Diaspora town hall is a strategic engagement that reinforces Governor Soludo’s belief in participatory governance. Anambra’s global citizens deserve to be carried along in the state’s progress, and this meeting ensures they remain stakeholders, not just spectators from afar.

Moreover, it sends a powerful message that Governor Soludo is not a leader who governs in isolation. He listens, he reports, and he collaborates.

While opposition candidates scramble for attention with their usual empty promises, Governor Soludo’s confidence in his performance allows him to focus on governance. He understands that true leadership is not about loud campaigns but about measurable impact.

As he meets with Ndi Anambra in Maryland with his scorecard, the message will be ringing loud and clear: performance will always outweigh propaganda. It is also a reaffirmation that accountability should never take a back seat, even in an election season. In the end, that is what will matter most to the people of Anambra State.

Eze Chika Nwokedi also called out the leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo and Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos to emulate the project of ensuring a permanent secretariat for Ndigbos. He said both Igbo organizations has existed for over 30 years in Lagos with no permanent secretariat which is inappropriate; advise leaders of these Igbo organizations to focus on enhancing the organization not milk its purse for personal gains.

At the event, Chief Sunday Udeh, the President General of Igbo Speaking Community Lagos State commended the permanent secretariat achievement by the Ndigbo Buru'Otu Association, recounts efforts made to actualise same results for Igbo Speaking Community which has yielded no results so far. He says he is challenged to make more efforts to see to the permanent secretariat project to ensure his dedication to the course of leadership. Meanwhile, in response to the APC campaign for the support of Ndigbo in the forth coming local government election made by Hon. Mrs Mojisola and his entourage, Chief Sunday Udeh raised concerns over Igbos being relegated to the background after full participation during elections resulting in activeness in subsequent elections, urge Igbo inclusive governance.

Hon. Mrs Mojisola Ayinke Badmus accompanied by some APC executives and stakeholders at the commissioning event of the Ndigbo Buru'Otu Association applauded Eze Chika Nwokedi for his exemplary leadership qualities and his non- tribalistic approach towards ensuring peaceful coexistence of Igbos in the Ijegun Ijeododo community. In the bid to rally the support of Ndigbo in the forth coming election, Hon. Mojisola recounted the commitment of APC in Ikotun-Igando LCDA area of Lagos State in terms of Infrastructural development and Security Enhancements, urge Ndigbo not to relent in voting APC leadership in the forth coming local government elections. Eze Chika in response promised Ndigbo who are residents under the Ikotun-Igando LCDA will support APC at the oncoming local government elections, urge APC to also accommodate Igbo inclusivity in leadership positions.

44th Annual International Conference—ACPN Embraces Tech-Driven Healthcare

......plan to work against fake and counterfeit drugs

...... call on all community pharmacists, healthcare professionals, industry leaders, and development partners to attend

By Naomi Onome

ACPN makes an official announcement for the 44th Annual International Conference of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), scheduled to take place from July 22nd to July 27th, 2025, in Awka, Anambra State during a press conference in Abuja. The conference theme is "Technology Integration, Personalized Care: The Future of Community Pharmacy Practice."

The highlights of the conference touch on the importance of technology and personalized care in community pharmacy practice, citing the need for digital innovations, artificial intelligence, and telepharmacy to meet the demands of a tech-savvy population. It also emphasizes the issue of fake drugs and food products in Nigeria, calling for urgent action to address this problem.

The conference will feature various activities, including keynote addresses, workshops, exhibitions, and a walk against fake and counterfeit medicines. The event aims to bring together healthcare professionals, policymakers, and industry leaders to shape the future of pharmacy practice in Nigeria.

A statement signed by Pharm. Ezeh Ambrose Igwekamma, National Chairman, ACPN, on July 4, 2025, reads,

As the National Chairman of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), I am pleased to officially announce and invite all Nigerians, particularly healthcare stakeholders, to the 44th Annual International Conference of our noble Association, which is scheduled to take place from Monday, July 22nd, to Saturday, July 27th, 2025, in the vibrant city of Awka, Anambra State.

This year's conference is themed “Technology Integration, Personalized Care: The Future of Community Pharmacy Practice.” This timely theme reflects our collective aspiration to reposition community pharmacy practice as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s evolving healthcare delivery system, using technology and personalized care models as levers of transformation.

We are at a critical juncture where the traditional roles of community pharmacists must expand to meet the rising demands of a tech-savvy, wellness-conscious population. The ACPN recognizes that embracing digital innovations, artificial intelligence, telepharmacy, electronic health records, point-of-care testing, and other tech-enabled solutions is no longer optional—it is imperative. Personalized pharmaceutical care must also take center stage, ensuring that every Nigerian gets tailored, patient-centered, and data-driven services from the pharmacy closest to them.

As far back as 1988, the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH), in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), carried out studies on the prevailing drug distribution system in Nigeria. The WHO studies revealed that 33% of drugs in circulation in Nigeria were fake, and 7% of this quantum was fatal on consumption.

This led to the promulgation of Nigeria’s first decree on fake, counterfeit, and unwholesome food substances (Decree 21 of 1988), which was subsequently amended by Decree 17 of 1989.

Ten years later, in 1998, a review exercise by the Faculty of Pharmacy UNILAG revealed more startling realities. At this time, 49.6% of fake drugs were traceable to Open Drug Markets (ODM), and 32.8% were directed to the doorstep of Patent Medicine Vendors. 12.8% of the fake drug incidents led to fatalities, while 10.8% ended in therapeutic failure.

The late Dora Akunyili era gave some hope and respite, as it appeared there was a significant drop in fake drug incidence between 2001 and 2009, when she held sway at NAFDAC.

The influx of fake drugs, foods, and especially drinks in Nigeria has become a major source of worry in contemporary times.

Our usually reliable and dependable research-based efforts indicate that we are back to the days of over 50% of drugs in circulation being fake and substandard, as against official figures hovering between 13% and 15%.

Despite some modest efforts by NAFDAC, the influx of fake drugs and unwholesome food and drinks has surged very significantly in the last five years, when the Federal Task Force and the equivalent State Task Forces have almost become moribund with negligible regulatory output.

At the closing stages of the 1999 transition, the Fake Drug Act was entrenched in the statutes, but this has not been substantially activated in recent times.

One of the most positive outputs in the new order at NAFDAC was the landmark collaboration with the PCN in January 2024 to seal the Sabon-Geri drug market immediately after the first Coordinated Wholesale Center (CWC) in Nigeria was officially launched in Kano, Kano State.

For the record, the CWCs are the well-regulated drug centers that are designed to replace the Open Drug Markets (ODMs) by virtue of the National Drug Distribution Guidelines (NDDG) released ten years ago in 2015.

It is the spirit of such collaborations we desire to save consumers of health from the almost 5 million unregistered drug-selling outfits that dot both the rural and urban centers in Nigeria.

The NASS must, as a matter of urgency, amend the existing Fake Drug and Unwholesome Food Act to become a much more potent act of parliament.

Apart from the dangers that Nigerians were familiar with in the case of fake drugs, the fake drink conundrum is assuming a gargantuan tens-of-billions-of-naira business championed by modern-day merchants of death.

The 44th Annual Conference will bring together over 3,000 local and international delegates, including pharmacists, technologists, policymakers, academics, researchers, students, and industry partners, to deliberate and collaborate on actionable strategies for moving our profession into the future.

Highlights of the event will include

* Walk against fake and counterfeit medicines.

*Keynote addresses and technical sessions led by global thought leaders in pharmacy and health tech

*Workshops and panels on emerging innovations, regulatory frameworks, and pharmaceutical entrepreneurship

ACPN Exhibition Expo showcasing technology companies, drug manufacturers, digital health platforms, and healthcare startups

Cultural night, gala awards, and leadership roundtables to celebrate achievements and foster professional unity

The government and good people of Anambra State have shown overwhelming support, and we are confident that Awka will provide the perfect atmosphere for inspiration, networking, and strategic advancement.

In conclusion, I call on all community pharmacists, healthcare professionals, industry leaders, and development partners to join us at this epoch-making event. Let us unite our efforts to shape a more resilient, innovative, and people-centered future for pharmacy practice in Nigeria.

Together, we shall build a community pharmacy model that delivers impact through innovation and compassion.

Long live the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria!

Long live the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria!

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!

CrimePost Service Housing Estate Residents Cry Out Over Exco's High-handedness. by onochurch(op): 10:01pm On Jun 26, 2025
Post Service Housing Estate Residents Cry Out Over Exco's High-Handedness.

.......... As PHDL MD Major General A. I. Alison Backs Bullies, Orders Residents To Be "Sheep To The Executive Committee.

Emmanuel Ikpeama.

Residents of Post Service Housing Estate in Ojo, Lagos, are up in arms over the estate's executive committee, as the managing director of Post Service Housing Estate has been accused of siding with the estate's executive committee, which has been criticized for its high-handedness and refusal to account for its stewardship to residents.

Post Service Housing Estate Limited was created as a housing unit that will enable the military officers to cohabit with the civilians so that it will be easy for them to live peacefully in the civil environment, devoid of military mentalities. Investigator news reports that the EXCO has refused to render accounts to residents despite collecting utility bills for three years, as Major General A. I. Allison has ordered the residents of Post Service Housing Estate, Ojo, to obey the current Executive Committee led by Colonel Tokunbo Adelanwa without questioning. "Stop behaving like a goat, follow like a sheep, and stop questioning the EXCO, he said.

Reports also have it that the MD was invited to the estate owing to squabbles that arose over the high-handedness of the Executive Committee, who refused to give an account of its stewardship to over one thousand residents who paid N4000 utility bills every month in the past three years. The collection is meant for refuse, security, and development of the estate.

The committee was elected to spend two years, and after two years, through the instrumentalities of the Officer's Forum, the executive committee was returned unopposed with the belief that they would turn a new leaf.

Speaking to investigator news, a concerned resident who decided to remain anonymous stated that one year and three months into the second tenure, no single meeting was called to render account or discuss issues bothering the estate; instead, the executive committee was displaying pictures of the condition of how the roads, gates, and transformers were before they took over power rather than rendering the account.

He went further to state that the WhatsApp platform that was created by PHDL's representative in the estate has been hijacked by the executive committee due to wicked collaboration between the EXCO and the SMO, because every SMO wants to build a house within a year of his posting to Ojo. The residents were anxious to receive the MD but were utterly disappointed when he said the estate belonged to the officers who were once his bosses in the army; hence, the civilians should subjugate themselves to the officers.

This is against the laws that established the PHDL." "Residents who question the EXCO's actions are being removed from the WhatsApp platform and intimidated, and instead of the MD sanitizing the WhatsApp platform by calling for the inclusion of those removed and taking over the platform through the SMO, he said only the landowners or landlords should be added to the platform and any other WhatsApp platform in the name of PHDL be deleted,. he said.

Investigator news gathered that the former executive chairman of the estate, Col. Okereke, pleaded with the current executive committee to call a meeting and render account to the residents. He was removed from the platform, and residents who expressed shock at his removal were equally removed from the platform. "If you ever ask questions bothering you on the platform, the executive committee will look for an excuse to remove your light, dehumanize you, and embarrass you thoroughly."

Since the current Executive Committee took over the leadership of the estate, the residents have cooperated fully until they refused to take simple advice to call a meeting. Whoever supported a call for a meeting is inciting unrest in the estate."

"The residents were happy when the Board of Trustees was inaugurated last year, but the chairman of the BOT, for reasons best known to him, instructed the members to allow me, the EXCO, to operate freely without any interference."

"Unfortunately, one of the BOT members, Gen. Abdulraheem, was the signatory to the project account of the EXCO; apparently, he was leaking the secret of the BOT to the EXCO because he was indirectly an EXCO member and a BOT member."

"The only instruction that ever came out from the BOT was around January, when the EXCO was directed to call for a general meeting, which they failed to call until March, and the March meeting was equally aborted. The BOT that was the hope of the oppressed residents was proscribed by the MD, who acted as if Nigeria was under military dictatorship rather than a democratic government. Any call for accountability was considered an incitement, the concerned residents submitted."

Investigator news also gathered that the residents are demanding accountability and transparency from the EXCO while crying out for fairness and justice, citing the MD's bias towards the EXCO, as they all want a leader who will cooperate with the PHDL to fast-track infrastructural development.

They opined that the estate's infrastructure has decayed, with residents paying utility bills without seeing corresponding improvements, noting that the earnings from collections can only do repairs and little purchases because the PHDL included infrastructural levies on the land they sold, as there ought to be roads, transformers, and poles readily made available by the PHDL.

"Those living in A Wing of the Estate cannot access their homes during the rainy season. "If the Chief of Army Staff could give an account of its stewardship to Nigerians, why should the MD stand behind those who refused to give an account for three years?"

"The MD aligned with the bully and dashed the hopes of the residents because he refused to be fair and just. There are Post Service Housing Estates in Ojo, Lagos, Abuja, Enugu, and Kano, so ours cannot be different," they concluded.

World Drug Abuse Day: ACPN reaffirms commitment to combat drug abuse, call for urgent, coordinated, and sustained action

.....as secondary school student writes to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on drug abuse crisis.

By Naomi Onome

A statement by Pharm. Ezeh Ambrose Igwekamma, National Chairman of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), on the occasion of World Drug Abuse Day, June 26, 2025: he highlights the ACPN's commitment to combating drug abuse, emphasizes the importance of prevention, and calls for coordinated actions from stakeholders. The statement also outlines specific action points, including strengthening regulatory environments, empowering community pharmacists, and public health campaigns.

The statement by Ezeh Ambrose Igwekamma, MAW, DCpharm, reads in full,

Today, June 26, 2025, the global community comes together once again to observe the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, a day set aside by the United Nations to raise awareness of the devastating consequences of drug abuse and illicit trafficking on individuals, families, communities, and nations.

As the National Chairman of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), I join millions around the world to reaffirm our commitment to the fight against drug abuse and to call for urgent, coordinated, and sustained actions to combat this public health menace in our dear country.

The theme for this year’s celebration, "The Evidence is Clear: Invest in Prevention," resonates deeply with our vision at the ACPN. It reminds us that we must shift our focus from reaction to prevention. As community pharmacists—trusted, accessible healthcare providers on the frontlines—we witness firsthand the silent crisis of substance abuse in our communities, especially among our youth.

ACPN for more than a decade has demonstrated a concern for massive awareness creation through our National Anti-Drug Abuse Competition among students in secondary schools nationwide. And the essence of this annual competition is for prevention and also to disabuse the minds of younger generations against the consequences of drug abuse, which aligns with the same UNODC strategic plan for substance abuse.

Every tablet sold without prescription, every codeine cough syrup diverted, and every hard drug traded illegally is not just a crime—it is a threat to our collective future. Drug abuse fuels mental health disorders, crime, school dropout, family breakdown, and premature deaths. It cripples dreams and sabotages national development.

The ACPN therefore calls on all stakeholders—government, civil society, security agencies, religious and traditional leaders, parents, and educators—to intensify their roles in prevention, education, early intervention, and rehabilitation.

We further highlight the following action points as our contribution to a drug-free Nigeria:

1. Strengthening the Regulatory Environment—The ACPN urges relevant agencies to enforce stricter controls on the distribution and sale of controlled substances. We must close the leakage points that allow prescription drugs to enter the illicit market.

2. Empowering Community Pharmacists—Community pharmacists must be given a central role in identifying early signs of drug misuse and providing counseling, referrals, and rehabilitation support. We must also be involved in school-based and grassroots education programs.

3. Public Health Campaigns—We shall continue our sensitization across communities.

In the same vein, a Nigerian student from Government Secondary School Garki Abuja writes to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu about the drug abuse crisis. The letter highlights the pressing issue of drug abuse in the country, citing its widespread prevalence, contributing factors, and devastating effects on individuals, families, and society. The writer, Ogbodo Kelvin, proposes several solutions, including public education campaigns, rehabilitation projects, and stricter law enforcement to combat drug trafficking and regulate prescription drugs. The letter emphasizes the need for immediate attention and action to address this critical issue and create a society where drug abuse is no longer a threat.

The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking serves as a global reminder of the urgent need to combat the drug menace through coordinated action, awareness, and rehabilitation.

Crime47-year-old Woman Fights To Prove Car Ownership Amid False Theft Claims By Camer by onochurch(op):
47-year-old woman fights to prove car ownership amid false theft claims by Cameroonian businessman; calls on IGP Egbetokun to caution Anambra officers over abridgement of rights

By Naomi Onome

A 47-year-old single mother, Gloria Asika, laments over an attempt to forcefully claim her vehicle (Rav-4) by one Nigerian-Cameroonian businessman, Mr. Chinedu Frank Ejiofor, who could only identify his stolen vehicle by color. It is reported that the claimant's VIN number provided does not match the VIN number on the alleged stolen car, which further fuels suspicion over Chinedu's claim of ownership.

The discrepancies in the alleged owner's claim, such as the different VIN numbers, registration year, and interior material, do raise questions about the validity of his allegations. It's concerning that despite these inconsistencies, the case is being called for a transfer to Anambra while investigation is still ongoing at the Zone 2 Command Lagos, allegedly due to the claimant's influence.

According to Grace Asika (the complainant), the matter was initially reported at the Ikotun Police Division when Mr. Chinedu alleged his stolen car was found in the possession of a recent buyer who got the car from Grace Asika. The case was not handled professionally, leading to a transfer of the case to Zone 2 Command.

Mrs. Grace Osika's revelation of her situation over the alleged car theft can be described as quite complex and stressful. She provided extensive documentation and a clear chain of ownership for the RAV4 in dispute, which suggests she has made efforts to ensure the car's legitimacy.

She further explains,

In 2023, I purchased a used RAV4 from a man named Sammy in Lagos, Nigeria. He provided me with all of the records of the car's prior owners. Both the first and second purchasers of the vehicle did so in Ekiti. Only I received it and registered it in Lagos; nowhere in Anambra is the car registered.

I verified that the customs documents the then seller supplied me were authentic, and in April 2025, I made the decision to sell the vehicle to a man named Alhaji. After selling the automobile for a week, Alhaji called me to let me know that he wanted to sell it because someone had come and claimed it was stolen and that he had originally owned it. That didn't sit well with me.

The matter was taken to the Ikotun police station, where I discovered that the case was not being properly handled; the person who claimed the car was stolen had no supporting documentation; he just claimed to have identified the car based on a stain in the vehicle's boot. I had to move the matter to Zone 2 via a petition. A meeting was called involving all the parties. I also brought with me all of the paperwork on the car from the previous owners to corroborate my claims.

Since their numbers appeared on the documents, the previous owners were contacted by phone. They all acknowledged that they had previously used and sold the vehicle before it reached me. According to the man who claimed it was his stolen vehicle, he registered it in 2023 when it was brought to the country from overseas. However, the records I have show that this vehicle was registered in 2015.

The man claiming theft said his RAV4's interior was in leather, but the customs documents once more showed that the vehicle was in fabrics. Chinedu has since subjected me to a depressive state with his oppression since his claims. He says he is the rightful owner of the car and is bent on stripping both me and the person I sold it to. The Zone 2 Command is handling the case, but Mr. Chinedu is rewriting the story as promised in Anambra using Officer Achunike to achieve his aim.

He is currently doing just that, as I received a call from Anambra stating that they would like to transfer the case to them. Note that the claim is unsupported by any evidence; he simply printed a VIN number from the internet. The police at Zone 2 Command requested the affidavit proving his car was stolen. Chinedu had none but later presented forged documents in contrast with the real documents.

There is currently no evidence to support Chinedu's claim that they broke into his home and took the car. The fact that my car and the one that was stolen from him are the same color serves as his sole proof. Even the car's VIN differs from his, so that isn't proof. However, they proceeded to transfer the case to Anambra, like he said he would during interrogation, simply to alter the facts.

The police asked Chinedu where he reported the stolen car when he was in zone 2, but he was unable to provide an explanation for where he reported it. When they inquired about his IPO, he replied that he was unsure. He only boasted that he is the one who provides the Anambra police officers with food and that he will enforce the law. He claimed that since they are all in his pocket, the Anambra policemen would take the car from me when he arrived at the location where he was taking the case.

This oppression is equivalent to daylight robbery. The car in dispute has a history, and it was brought into Nigeria in 2015 and not 2023. This car has been passed down to owners from 2015 till now. The police called the second buyer, who bought the car in 2018. He said he bought it from the first owner and sold it in 2023 to me after using it for four years, and I have original papers to prove it. This guy doesn't have any proof that this is his car, not even a picture of him with it. The evidence is glaring, yet some officers in Anambra are bent on truncating justice just to confiscate my car.

I'm in a challenging situation. I sold my car, bought with all of my savings, because I couldn't afford to maintain the car any longer, so I got a smaller car instead. But despite the fact that Chinedu has no supporting evidence, he's suddenly come forward to claim that the car I sold is stolen. The issue is growing more alarming as he has been claiming to have influence with the Anambra police and threatening to involve them in order to seize the car.

Gloria Asika noted that as a single mother trying to get by, she humbly solicits the attention of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Egbetokun Kayode, to call to order officers in Anambra used as a means to forcefully take over her car possession without thorough investigation and appeals that her case remain in Zone 2 for transparency and fact-finding. Hopefully, the authorities will take a fair and impartial approach to resolving this matter.

She says she'll be in debt if ever Chinedu achieves his aim, which is unfounded until proven otherwise. Additionally, request that the Anambra police command thoroughly investigate the claimant's allegations and consider the evidence provided before making any decisions about the car's ownership or calling for a case transfer.

ACPN Responds to NARD: Advocates for Healthcare Reform and Professional Autonomy

By Naomisophyblog

In a strong response to the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN) has articulated its stance on critical issues surrounding healthcare leadership and professional practices within the industry. Signed by the ACPN National Chairman, Pharm. Ambrose Ezeh, the statement addresses two main points raised by NARD: the effectiveness of physician-led hospital leadership and the claim that physicians do not interfere with other health professions.

The ACPN expressed appreciation for the intellectual discourse initiated by NARD but emphasized the need for clarity on several significant aspects of healthcare administration in Nigeria. The association noted that “healthcare administration is, ideally, an autonomous professional calling,” and criticized the deviation from this norm that occurred in 1985 with the introduction of Decree 10, which mandated the headship of Federal Health Institutions (FHIs) by physicians.

Highlighting the adverse effects of this shift, the ACPN stated that the hospital system in Nigeria, previously characterized by efficiency and decorum under professional administrators, has suffered tremendously under physician leadership. “The takeover by physicians has led to unprecedented corruption and inefficiency within the health sector,” the statement read. It pointed out that recent reports identify the health sector as the most corrupt area within the national economy.

The association cited numerous instances of corruption involving physician leaders, including ministers and hospital directors, some of whom have faced charges related to the misappropriation of funds intended for crucial health services. The statement further revealed that the health sector is now burdened with over #30 billion in debt owed to the pharmaceutical industry due to the mismanagement of health funds.

Additionally, the ACPN criticized the lack of leadership and management competencies among physicians. “Physicians often demonstrate poor communication, subpar relationship management, and an overall lack of experience in business strategies,” they stated, highlighting how this deficiency adversely affects the functionality of public healthcare facilities.

The ACPN emphasized troubling health indices in Nigeria, including high rates of infant and maternal mortality, inefficiencies in health logistics, and a neglect of preventive healthcare. The association lamented that the healthcare system has shifted its focus from preventive measures to exclusively curative solutions, often driven by economic interests.

Regarding NARD’s assertion that physicians do not interfere in the affairs of other health professionals, the ACPN challenged this notion, arguing that the current climate clearly illustrates a lack of respect for the roles of non-physician professionals. Recent discussions concerning the implementation of a Consultant Pharmacist Cadre were cited as examples where physicians have resisted acknowledging the contributions of pharmacists and other healthcare workers.

“The health sector has been plagued by negotiations skewed in favor of physicians, enabling them to dictate terms that marginalize other health professionals,” the ACPN stated. They observed that historical resistance to appointing non-physicians in key healthcare roles has contributed to a culture that undermines the capabilities of other health professionals.

In conclusion, the ACPN called for comprehensive reforms in Nigeria’s healthcare system, advocating for a model grounded in global best practices. “For Nigeria to move beyond ineffective healthcare governance, the government must embrace holistic reforms that genuinely serve the needs of all Nigerians,” the association stated, signaling a commitment to pursuing a more collaborative and effective healthcare framework moving forward.

Founder of Igbo Ruo Ulo, Fr. Joe Vicar reveals Chief Obioma Nnazor is a land-grabbing impostor

By Naomisophyblog

The founder of Igbo Ruo Ulo Udo N’ihunanya Development Union, Fr. Joe Vicar, has warned the public against Chief Obioma Peter Nnazor, also known as Aguejiemba, who is accused of using his vision for land grabbing in Nigeria. Vicar, the CEO of Joe Vicar TV California USA, stated that the union is an NGO and not involved in land grabbing or land merchanting. He clarified that the union is not a commercial venture or involved in land grabbing under any disguise.

The Igbo Ruo Ulo concept was founded by Vicar in 2023 to push for the repatriation of Igbo genius to their ancestral land. Vicar believed that the Igboruoulo concept, which reflects Igbo wealth on home soil, should be brought home and used to create employment opportunities for home-based Igbo youth, men, and women. However, Chief Nnazor, a.k.a. Aguejiemba, was employed to lead the formation of the Lagos branch of Igbo Ruo Ulo.

Aguejiemba became inquisitive and sought to become a member of the Igbo Ruo Ulo Board of Trustees, but was resisted by the executive. After failing to make the Board of Trustees, Aguejiemba applied for the inauguration of the Lagos branch and fronted his account for freewill donations. The legal team of Igbo Ruo Ulo registered the union in his name, adding the tag "Udo N'ihunanya" to the name.

Fr. Joe Vicar has been tasked with educating and warning the public about the "fake Igbo Ruo Ulo Development Union," which is said to be engaging in land merchandising schemes.

According to reports, the union's secretary general, Sam Eze, Esq., PhD, made this remark on behalf of Joe Vicar, the CEO of the well-known social media company Joe Vicar TV California USA. He clarified that the union is an NGO and not a business or engaged in land grabbing of any kind. He added that the explanation was required in response to public concerns regarding Chief Nnazor's actions with his own iteration of the Igbo Ruo Ulo Development Union.

He stated:

“IGBO RUO ULO UDO N’IHINANYA DEVELOPMENT UNION IS NOT INTO LAND GRABBING OR LAND MERCHANDISING. BEWARE!

The leadership of Igbo Ruo ulo Udo N’ihunanya has in recent times been inundated with calls and messages from innocent members of the public, who are likely acquainted with the vision and mission of the body and its founder, asking whether we are currently into land allocation.”

“The calls are not unconnected with an ongoing advertisement for land merchandise by an ‘Igbo Ruo Ulo Development Union Ltd.’. It therefore became quite pertinent to place this disclaimer that there is only one original Igbo Ruo Ulo Udo N’ihunanya Development Union—a non-profit-oriented organization.”

“Tagging Igbo Ruo ulo Udo N’ihunanya Development Union as the only original Igbo Ruo ulo body in Nigeria and worldwide in the light of this disclaimer suggests there could either be a fraudulent misrepresentation of this original Igbo Ruo ulo Union or that there is a fake Igbo Ruo ulo Development Union impersonating the original one. The latter is likeliest.”

“The one and only Igbo Ruo ulo Udo N’ihunanya Development Union was founded by Fr. Joe Vicar in 2023 as a forum to push for the repatriation of Igbo genius to the ancestral land of Igbo ethnicity with the Igbo Ruo ulo concept.

“Igboruoulo points towards the reflection of Igbo wealth in Igbo land, a practice that has really gained ground among Ndigbo. Of course, a tour of Igbo land will show a landscape of beautiful edifices dotting most towns.”

“Some of which are scarcely occupied to required capacity, if at all. They are simply symbols of the Igbo global success story. Hardly does any Igbo man make wealth without leaving a sign of the wealth on Igbo soil, typifying the Igboruoulo mantra. Besides buildings, Igbo success, especially when recorded abroad (away from Igbo land), comes home in the form of donations and gifting to individuals, groups, organizations, churches, and other institutions located homeward. This is indeed the makeup of ‘Akuruoulo’ among the Igbos."

“Igbo Ruo ulo concept as envisioned by Fr. Joe Vicar points towards the reflection of Igboness, Igbo sense, and Igbo essence on home soil. That which makes an Igbo a money-maker should be brought home. Igbo industry taken abroad should be brought home. An Igbo man who has successfully managed a shop, company, or factory anywhere away from home should quickly consider locating a branch of the shop, company, or factory in Igbo land or the political southeast of Nigeria. By this, Igbo Ruo Ulo is not only about bringing money home but also about creating vast employment opportunities for home-based Igbo youth, men, and women.”

“Fr. Joe Vicar gradually sold his vision to a couple of Igbo men and women at home and abroad, leading to the formation of the Igbo Ruo Ulo Udo N’ihunanya Development Union.”

“However, one of those employed to lead the formation of the Igbo Ruo Ulo structure in Lagos State was one Chief Obioma Peter Nnazor, a.k.a. Aguejiemba, whose self-advertisement and wooing as an astute coordinator led to his being made the coordinator of the Lagos branch of Igbo Ruo Ulo by Joe Vicar, the founder.”

“Having secured the Lagos branch for himself, he became so inquisitive and pushed hard to also become a member of the Igbo Ruo Ulo Board of Trustees, which was resisted by the executive.”

“Having failed to make the Board of Trustees, Aguejiemba applied for the inauguration of the Lagos branch and fronted his account for freewill donations towards the inauguration. Not really suspecting any skeleton in his cupboard, the leadership of Igbo Ruo Ulo played along. The moment he amassed a reasonable amount in his account out of the donations made towards the inauguration of the Lagos branch, Aguejiemba bolted away and clandestinely approached the Corporate Affairs Commission to register another man’s vision, “Igbo Ruo Ulo Development Union,” in his name.

Nobody ever suspected this evil genius to be up to this kind of maneuvering till the legal team of Igbo Ruo Ulo got to the Corporate Affairs Commission to finally register the union. Every explanation to CAC ended in adding the tag “Udo N’ihunanya” to the name “Igbo Ruo Ulo Development Union.”

“The original Igbo Ruo ulo Udo N’ihunanya Development Union has ever since been tasked with educating and warning unsuspecting members of the public to beware of the ‘fake Igbo Ruo ulo Development Union,’ said to be a limited liability company going about with different schemes of land merchandising targeted at making unsuspecting persons part with their hard-earned money and stylishly impersonating the real Igbo Ruo ulo Udo N’ihunanya Development Union.”

“Let it be clear once again that Igbo Ruo ulo Udo N’ihunanya Development Union is not a limited liability company and not into land agency of any sort. If you find yourself in any WhatsApp group of Igbo Ruo Ulo, boldly inquire into the person of the founder; if you note one Nnazor Obioma Peter or Aguejiemba, run for your dear life. Inquire if the group is a non-profit organization or a limited liability company; if the latter, run for your dear life. Of course, by their fruits you shall know them.” The statement concluded.

Chief Nnazor could not be reached for a response because his phone was switched off.

Nigerian Healthcare System Ruined by Physician Takeover - ACPN

......urge FGN to adopt comprehensive reforms based on international best practices.

By Naomi Onome

A statement signed by Ambrose Ezeh, MAW, DCPHARM National Chairman, notes that the ACPN puts on record its appreciation of the intellectual discourse created by the response of NARD and also wishes to clarify as well as put issues in clear perspectives.

Ambrose Ezeh, MAW, DCPHARM National Chairman, argues that the Nigerian healthcare system has been ruined by the takeover of physicians. The high-handedness of physicians has led to unprecedented corruption, with all positions in the CMD/CEO, C-MAC, and D-C-MACs being exclusive privileges of physicians. This recklessness has resulted in debts of over $30B owed to the pharma industry.

According to the first viewpoint, greater patient outcomes are achieved when doctors lead hospitals. This suggests that managing healthcare is, in theory, a self-sufficient career path. For this reason, like in other countries, hospitals are run by qualified, experienced administrators.

This was the standard in Nigeria until 1985, when the late Olikoye Kuti, working with his former boss, General Ibrahim Babangida, the former military president, upended this ethical order with the notorious and outrageous Decree 10 of 1985. This law has been used to force Nigerian doctors to lead FHIs.

Under the watch of hospital administrators in the 70s and up to the mid-80s, the hospital system was laden with decorum and efficiency, especially because health professionals stuck to their areas of due competence.

The health system was so good that foreigners accessed care provisioning in our land. Like we always posit, UCH, Ibadan, was rated one of the top 5 health facilities in the Commonwealth.

The takeover of physicians ruined the health system in Nigeria in the following ways:

*The high-handedness of physicians destroyed civil service norms and protocols, leading to unprecedented corruption, which has now been institutionalized.

In FHIs, all posh slots from the CMD/CEO, C-MAC, and D-C-MACs are the exclusive privileges of physicians. Some D-CMACs are designated to take charge of catering and energy in some instances, and in almost all instances, physicians are in charge of hospital procurement of all equipment and commodities, including drugs.

The recklessness is both massive and deep, such that a few months ago the ICPC branded the health sector the most corrupt realm in the national economy.

*To buttress the above, at least two physician ministers have been disgraced out of office on charges of corruption, including one under the Tinubu administration.

Several other physician-CEOs have also been casualties, including the MDs at NOH, Enugu, OAUTH, Ife FMC, Owerri FMC, Owo, and so on.

The MD of the FMC, Owo, was found culpable of embezzling COVID-19 funds.

In 90% of the FHIs, the DRF schemes collapsed under the watch of physicians who diverted these funds, leading to debts of over #30B owed to the pharma industry, as submitted by the PSN in November 2023.

*Our physician friends suffer from a lack of competence, poor leadership and communication skills, zero relationship management, and generally being too inexperienced with regard to business management strategies.

This is why brand-new and sophisticated equipment is moribund before they contemplate replacements in all public hospitals.

The NHIA, which regulates social health insurance, attained a coverage of over 10% in its first two years when pharmacists insisted administrators should be the CEOs.

Messrs. Mustapha Sambo and Dr. Mohammed Lecky were the pioneer CEOs on good record before the first physician, Dr. Dogo Mohammed, was appointed.

Since that appointment, it has been a free fall in fortune with physician-CEOs at NHIA, formerly NHIS, where the coverage rate has dropped to 1.72% since 2017, when a surgeon, Dr. Femi Thomas, was in charge.

Recently another surgeon who was given the boot for alleged excessive corruption charges and is now a subject of litigation presided at the then NHIS.

In our original petition, we drew attention to the challenges of power supply in all FHIs simply because CEOs were not creative and proactive in managing specialized systems.

*One of the biggest legacies of the leadership of physicians in MDAs is the infamous negative health indices Nigeria is known for.

In simple terms, Nigeria contends with high infant and maternal mortality rates, fake health commodities, poor logistics and supply chains, wretched immunization networks, and poor procurement practices in healthcare delivery.

No wonder we continue to lament a rating of 187th out of 191 health systems. Physicians destroyed a culture of preventive health care in favor of curative health because of pecuniary gains.

Environmental health officers are rendered ineffective often times as a result of this.

For decades, malaria treatment, which accounts for 65% of clinical visitations in Nigeria, has been solely redressed through curative therapy.

Alternatives, including prevention through chemical spray and treatments of the environment, are not attractive to be explored because physician-CEOs in primary healthcare are not interested, as it affects budgets for pecuniary interests.

According to the second viewpoint, doctors' claims that they don't meddle in the business of other medical specialties raise questions because they are obvious even in public. We only see instances in the fatherland where individuals focus on their vocation and maintain that other industry colleagues have no right to broaden their knowledge.

Only a few weeks ago, the PSN Lagos State and their NMA counterparts were all over the media space canvassing the modalities of implementing the Consultant Pharmacist Cadre, a creation of statutes and global reality that Nigerian physicians abhor.

Nigerians must be aware of the politics surrounding pay and salaries in the healthcare industry, particularly the tendency of doctors to bargain for what they want and then go ahead and set the terms for non-physician employees and health professionals.

The FG continues to be hounded by its own personnel, which is why the adjustment of CONHESS, which was done for CONMESS, has not been implemented in 11.5 years.

In a similar vein, physicians have perfected a climax of absurdity that places a premium on resisting the appointment of non-physician caregivers and others as health ministers, commissioners, and PS at state and federal levels.

In 1993, when Pharm Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi was appointed Health Minister, the NMA actually threatened fire and brimstone if it was not reversed.

These days, it takes very brave presidents, like Obasanjo, who served for seven and a half of his eight years in office, or state governors to name a non-physician as Nigeria's health minister or commissioner due to the fear of doctors who have ingrained a grab-grab mentality that revolves around taking all healthcare benefits and privileges for their family members.

Finally, for Nigeria to forsake the parambulations of many years of fruitlessness in the wilderness of healthcare, the government must embrace holistic reforms grounded in global best practices.

Ndigbo Buru'Otu Association Honors Outstanding Officers of the Nigeria Police, Tour Commands

By Onome Naomi

In solidarity and unity, the Ndigbo Buru'Otu Association of Nigeria, chaperoned by Eze Chika Nwokedi, the president, and other representatives of the association, toured zones and commands of the Nigeria Police on Thursday, June 19th, 2025, to award outstanding police officers while also making rounds to pay courtesy visits.

Yearly, the association makes it a mandatory duty to visit various zones and commands in Lagos and other states to show support and patriotism and make commendations to the Nigerian Police for ensuring the state is rid of crime and criminality. This visit attracts awards aided by financial support as well as the provision of operational equipment to enable ease during the discharge of duties.

The commencement of the 2025 visit began from the office of AIG Zone 2 Command Onikan; about 5 police officers were awarded in recognition of their sincerity, dedication, and outstanding service to humanity. The officers awarded include AIG Zone 2 Command, AIG Adegoke M. Fayoade Mel, PSC., DSP Chukwu Otuu Chukwu O/C zonal fast track team, ASP. Godfrey Akhigbe, secretary to the AIG, Insp. Ebere Okafor, and Insp. Adelakun Abiodun Samuel, an outstanding admin officer of Zone 2 Command; these officers are tagged with 'One of the best police officers in 2025.'

In appreciation, the AIG, often described as an astute, non-discriminatory senior police officer, commended the effort of the Ndigbo Buru'Otu Association of Nigeria for always paying courtesy visits and showing support for the Nigerian Police. He said the officers nominated to be awarded are deserving of the honor for their efficiency and total dedication to work.

Eze Chika Nwokedi, Ezendigbo Ijegun Ijeododo, and the president of the Ndigbo Buru'Otu Association also appreciated the officers who were awarded. He presented the awardees with the plaque alongside some gifted items; one of the awardees, who has particularly been awarded thrice as nominated by various superiors over the years, was promised a cash gift inclusive, for it is the norm of the association to award cash to a 3-times awardee.

Eze Chika revealed the association plans to hold an award in December 2025, as it does every 4 years. He noted this year's award is significant because it is the association's 10th anniversary. In 2025, he said the association is set to award over 180 uniformed personnel across the nation, and this includes the police, the Nigerian Army, the Air Force, the Navy, and other paramilitary formations. It says awards given by the association are based on merit and cannot be bought; a 12-man committee is set to collate nominations based on the resilience, integrity, and diligence portrayed by awardees in public service over the years.

The Ndigbo Buru'Otu Association president and representatives also paid a courtesy visit to CP Ogunbode Olufunke, a MINIPS PhD, Commissioner of Police Airport Police Command MMIA, Ikeja Lagos.

PoliticsSoludo Advocates For Ideologically Driven Parties To Transform Nigerian Politics by onochurch(op): 8:39pm On Jun 19, 2025
Soludo advocates for ideologically driven parties to transform Nigerian politics

By Naomisophyblog

Whenever the national discourse borders on policies, polity, and politics, Anambra State Governor Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, is in his most perceptive, dispassionate, and blunt elements.

In his most provocative intervention yet, in his Democracy Day speech, Governor Soludo diagnoses what may be Nigeria’s most fundamental political ailment: the absence of ideological foundation in its party system.

His frank assessment that contemporary Nigerian politics consists of “one party, 'Nigerian Elite Plc' (NEP), with the sole goal of grabbing power and governing 'as the spirit directs'” represents perhaps the most dispassionate review of the country’s democratic adventure.

Governor Soludo’s prescription is equally bold: “...We must give our politics a soul by intentionally orchestrating ideologically driven political parties.” This clearly goes beyond just prescribing political reform to advocating the very survival of Nigerian democracy.

To understand the depth of Nigeria’s current politics, Governor Soludo invites us to examine what we have lost. His nostalgic reflection on the Second Republic (1979-1983) reveals a period when political parties actually meant something distinct. The six parties, GNPP, NPN, NPP, PRP, UPN, and NAP, were not just electoral vehicles but represented genuinely different visions for Nigeria’s future.

“I can still remember their ideologies and cardinal programs,” Governor Soludo reminisces, “and I miss the rigorous ideological debates among parties of those days.” This is a resonant nostalgia for a time when politics had substance.

Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s UPN states uniformly implemented “free education and free medical services,” while NPN states pursued “mass housing and green revolution” programs. Citizens could then predict policy outcomes based on which party governed their state. Even the Third Republic’s brief experiment with ideologically defined parties, NRC as right of center and SDP as left of center, represented a more sophisticated approach to democratic organization than today’s ideological vacuum.

Indeed, Governor Soludo’s concept of “Nigerian Elite Plc” brilliantly captures the reality of contemporary Nigerian politics. Rather than competing ideologies, what we have are “different factions of the NEP, largely split by quarrels over exclusion or inclusion in the ‘dining table.’” This analysis exposes the transactional nature of modern Nigerian politics, where principles matter less than proximity to power.

The governor’s observation that individuals who “can’t get a seat at the table suddenly realize that ‘nothing is working’” and either form new parties or join opposition movements “to fight for a better Nigeria,” which he correctly identifies as “a euphemism for 'bring me closer,’” reveals the cynical foundation of much political opposition in Nigeria.

This dynamic explains why Nigerian politics feels so predictable yet chaotic. Predictable because regardless of which faction wins, the fundamental approach to governance remains unchanged. Chaotic because, without ideological anchors, policy directions shift with personnel changes and political calculations.

Then, Governor Soludo poses a poignant question about Nigeria’s two dominant parties: “Can you tell an APC or PDP state if you see one? What is the difference?” The inability to answer this question definitively exposes the bankruptcy of contemporary party politics. In healthy democracies, party control typically produces visible differences in policy priorities, governance approaches, and developmental outcomes.

The “speed with which people switch parties,” as Governor Soludo notes, testifies to the reality that “political parties are mere platforms of convenient opportunism, no principles, no public purpose, only personal convenience!” This political nomadism would be impossible if parties represented genuinely different worldviews. Even the APC, which began as a merger designed to challenge PDP dominance, represents what the governor describes as “a marriage of convenience” rather than ideological coherence. After “10 years of governing at the center and controlling most states of Nigeria,” the party still lacks clear ideological foundations.

Perhaps Governor Soludo’s most candid assessment concerns the registration process for political parties. His review reveals that party manifestos are “largely ‘copy and paste,’ to scale through registration by INEC, with little or no substantive differences.” This bureaucratic approach to party formation ensures that new parties emerge not from genuine ideological movements but from administrative requirements.

The result is what Prof. Soludo identifies as an ideological paradox: “In substance, almost all the political parties subscribe to the social democratic ideals (left of center). Ideologically speaking, there are no opposition political parties in Nigeria.” In other words, when everyone claims the same ideological space, ideology becomes meaningless. This explains why “the executive would still have to 'lobby' members of its own party in the legislature to support its agenda.” Without ideological discipline, party membership provides no guarantee of policy alignment.

So, what is the redemptive path forward? Governor Soludo’s solution is as radical as his diagnosis. He argues that “organizing Nigerians around ideological divides is the sustainable way to mobilize citizens across ethnic and religious divides.” This represents a fundamental reimagining of Nigerian politics, moving from ethnic and regional calculations to ideological alignments. If done, the potential transformation would be profound. Instead of politics organized around “turn by turn” ethnic rotation or what he calls “chop I chop politics,” ideologically driven parties could create “transformational politics of development” that transcends parochial interests.

Yet, the governor also acknowledges uncertainty about implementation, as he says, “I don’t know how the authentic parties will emerge,” but advocates for intentional intervention through “legislation or regulation.” This suggests that ideological party formation may require state intervention via constitutional guidance rather than organic development.

The timing of Governor Soludo’s intervention is really significant. Speaking on Democracy Day, he essentially argues that Nigerian democracy lacks its most essential component: meaningful ideological choice. Citizens can change governments but not governance approaches because all parties represent variations of the same elite consensus. His assertion that “the time for both was yesterday, but today is still on time. Tomorrow may be too late” creates urgency around political reform. The warning also suggests that without ideological grounding, Nigerian democracy may continue to struggle with its current challenges.

On a more profound praxis, the Anambra State Governor’s vision extends beyond party politics to fundamental questions about Nigerian nationhood itself. Ideological parties could serve as vehicles for the “new Nigerian” he advocates, citizens organized around shared values rather than ethnic identities. Even the connection to his earlier theme of creating rather than rebuilding Nigeria becomes clear: ideological politics could provide the organizing principle for national unity that ethnic federalism has failed to deliver.

Thus, Governor Soludo’s exposition forces uncomfortable questions about Nigeria’s democratic trajectory. If political parties are merely factions of the same elite club, can elections produce meaningful change? If all parties advocate similar policies, what does political choice really mean? This discussion implies that Nigeria’s political crisis runs deeper than corruption or bad leadership; it is about the absence of competing visions for the country’s future. Without ideological competition, politics becomes purely transactional, and democracy loses its transformative potential.

CrimeHuman Rights Group Accuses Lagos Police Of Mishandling 'domestic Violence' Cases by onochurch(op): 2:51am On Jun 18, 2025
Human Rights Group Accuses Lagos Police of Mishandling 'Domestic Violence' Cases, Calls on CP Olohundare Jimoh for Redress of Officers

By Onome Naomi

"To err is human, and to forgive is divine." This saying is famously attributed to Alexander Pope in "An Essay on Criticism," which encourages both self-compassion when we make mistakes and compassion towards others when they err. But in the case of 'domestic violence,' this is an act committed knowingly and must attract a reprimand to serve as a deterrent to others; it is not to be condoned in a society where law exists, and many such victims seek justice, especially after years of brutalization.

This report highlights concerns about the handling of domestic violence cases by some police divisions in Lagos, Nigeria. According to the president of Ambassadors of Peace and Enlightenment Foundation, Comrade Prince Saviour Iche, some divisional police officers and investigation police officers are not taking these cases seriously, often prioritizing bail bonds over thorough investigations and court proceedings. He specifically mentioned the Ejigbo Police Division, Isheri Police Division, and Zone D Command Mushin's mishandlings of DV cases.

He said the idea of domestic violence cases being truncated by some IPOs and DPOs is a call for concern, especially as such cases should be charged to court with evidence to back up the victims' claims. It is appalling that reports from different advocates show how little consideration some divisional police heads give to settling cases of DV; they would rather call parties and intimidate victims into submission or possible withdrawal of the case to cut short the activities of human rights rather than sue for justice.

Iche further stated,

What justice will a survivor get if her only hope is to see that the perpetrator is apprehended and charged according to the law? It is of great concern that in recent times, the police, who should shield the vulnerable, are susceptible to condoning crime (an abuser) rather than aiding a survivor in seeking justice.

The human rights advocate intervenes in situations of domestic violence to mediate and then sends such cases to the police with detailed information to be addressed, but when decisions are being made, human rights are usually sidelined. Information has it that the police are usually more interested in the bail bond.

Specific cases include a tailor and her apprentice, where the apprentice was physically and mentally abused, and a woman battered by her husband. In both cases, the police allegedly allowed the parties to settle without thorough investigation or reprimand. The human rights group is calling on the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, to address these issues and ensure that domestic violence cases are handled properly.

In the case of a tailor and her apprentice, the apprentice was made to kneel on a busy street that commercial buses and other vehicles use as a passageway after several instances of physical and mental abuse by her boss. An advocate who saw the dire situation rescued the young lady and was haunted for doing so. He reported to the appropriate authority (the police) and had expected a thorough reprimand, only for the boss to be released after some hours on the account that the parties had settled. No thorough investigation or reprimand. Meanwhile, the tailor who bailed herself out had gone home to continue the torture and possible threat to the victim. As of now, no one knows if the victim had not suffered more in the hands of her oppressor, as there was no prompt follow-up. This is just one case amongst many that has been truncated rather than addressed.

Another woman who was battered by her husband was reported to the police in Isheri Police Division as well. The police once again sidelined the human rights advocate who reported the case and cornered the woman into settling with her husband despite the serious injuries she sustained; the woman was beaten for several hours before morning. The police instead told the woman to forgive her husband and didn't insist on the abuser ensuring the medical bill incurred for treatment of her injuries was paid; moreover, she was treated poorly for not paying the bail bond. Meanwhile, her husband bailed himself out and boasted he knows many police officers and that she had just wasted her time reporting the beating simply because all the police need is his bail bond. This is the main reason why domestic violence continues.

Perpetrators are charged to carry on with their abusive actions; these abusers now feel confident that all they need to do is bail themselves out of the crime and continue with battering, hence no serious charges. This is due to laxity on the part of the police; even with glaring evidence, the aforementioned stations show more interest in the bail condition than in directing such cases to court.

The human rights body uses personal funds to run cases on humanitarian grounds to ensure justice is served, but it is unfortunate that after spending funds to get perpetrators to the police, it all ends in either an unfinished case or simply withdrawn sidelining advocates so as to truncate justice by ensuring the victim has no choice other than to settle with the perpetrator instead of leading the perpetrator to court for a proper and final redress.

These actions by IPOs and DPOs will rather make some persons stay silent if abused rather than report, for there is no justice accorded to domestic violence in the hands of some officers of the law. However, the Protection Against Domestic Violence Law (PADVL), which came into force on the 18th of May 2007, is to provide protection for anybody in a domestic relationship and also prevent domestic violence from happening where there is a threat of violence. To achieve this, the complainant should approach the court for justice and for a protection order against the respondent or any other charge according to the offense. Domestic violence is a serious offense, and the enforcer of the law must not be found inefficient to carry out such delicate duties.

Domestic violence cases are on the increase due to law enforcers' handling issues; the more tenacity implored in cases such as this, the more reduced the occurrences. The human rights body is calling on CP Olohundare Jimoh, Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, to call the Isheri and Ejigbo Divisions to order over their handling of domestic violence cases.

CrimeHuman Rights Advocate calls for NYSC policy review by onochurch(op):

EducationGeneith Health competition launches official flag-off by onochurch(op):
Geneith Health competition launches official flag-off

...as NAU, NAPS, and NANCE student leadership encourage students' active participation.

By Naomi Onome

At the official flag-off event of the Geneith Health competition organized by Cletus Ilobanafor, MD/CEO Africa, proudly sponsored by Geneith Pharmaceuticals and powered by Coatal Forte Softgel, NAU, NAPS, and NANCE leadership encourage students' active participation as registration commences. This initiative is aimed at engaging and empoweringng the youths (students) in the ongoing fight against malaria in Nigeria.

The registration of participating students for the Health Competition began June 1st, 2025, while the competition will be held in December 2025. It is said that the Health Competition serves as the first of its kind in the nation, putting into perspective the plan to co-opt more youths to participate actively in creating awareness against malaria. This initiative is designed to harness the enthusiasm and potential of Junior Secondary School (JSS) students, Senior Secondary School (SSS) students, and tertiary institution students to champion malaria awareness and prevention.

However, the strong representation of the student leadership of the National Association of University Students (NAUS), the National Association of Polytechnic Students(NAPS), and the National Association of Nigerian Colleges of Education (NANCES) exemplifies the commitment and energy of the youths to address critical health issues plaguing the nation, such as malaria, as said by Godwin Emenwa in his remarks.

The chairman and sponsor of the Geneith Health Competition, Chief Emmanuel Umenwa, represented by Chief Godwin Emenwa, vice chairman of Geneith Pharmaceuticals Ltd., in his remarks noted that malaria remains a formidable adversary, affecting countless lives and impeding the potential of the young population. Through the Geneith Health Competition, organizers aim to inspire innovative thinking among students, encouraging them to not only raise awareness but also to propose actionable solutions within their communities.

This competition, he says, will empower the youths to be advocates and change-makers, giving them a platform to discuss and drive initiatives around malaria prevention. He urged all participants, educators, and community members to engage fully in the process of awareness in the conviction that the voices of the youth are crucial in the fight against malaria in the society; every idea and action matters.

He added that the commitment to create awareness goes beyond the competition itself; a future where youth advocate for health and well-being, not just during this initiative but throughout their lives, is envisioned. The Geneith Health Competition, he says, serves as a catalyst for collaboration among the government, private sector, and civil society, setting a precedent for collective action in health advocacy; he commends partners and supporters for actualizing the initiative.

Comr. Oyewunmi Festus Ayomide, President of the Senate National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), in his speech noted that the initiative is transformational as it underscores a collective approach to the health and holistic development of Nigerian students, which includes the JSS, SSS, and the various tertiary institutions. Moreover, the initiative, he says, seeks to instill health consciousness, encourage research-driven competition, and promote early intervention among the students.

Oyewunmi said the Geneith Health Competition is beneficial as it equips the students with lifesaving health education, promotes a culture of preventive healthcare, creates opportunities for networking, mentorship, and leadership development, and serves as a platform for healthy competition, innovation, and youth-driven solutions. He urged students, especially those from polytechnics, to key into the initiative with full enthusiasm; they should participate, learn, lead, and, most importantly, take charge of their health. This is not just about a competition; it is about empowering a generation that is sound in mind, body, and spirit. "A healthy student today is a stronger leader tomorrow. If we must build the Nigeria of our dreams, we must begin by nurturing the minds and bodies of those who will lead it" he added as he commends the organizers of the Health Competition initiative.

Comrade Josiah Peter Oche Gonus, the National President of the National Association of University Students (NAUS), says the Geneith Health Competition on Malaria Awareness is purpose-driven for young, creative, and knowledgeable minds to actively participate in community campaigns that could potentially save lives. He says the vision of the initiative is timely for public health purposes and achievable by the students' commitment to be empowered; the energy and ideas put together enable 'malaria awareness' to be at the forefront for discussions on prevention and eradication.

The National President of the National Association of Nigeria Colleges of Education Students (NANCES), Amb. Comr. Egunjobi Samuel Oluwaseun, mentioned that the scourge of malaria is a subject to be addressed as it affects the lives and productivity of millions of Nigerians. Therefore, the tertiary institutions are inspired by the ongoing nationwide campaign to eradicate malaria and express appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his steadfast commitment and numerous initiatives to improve the health and well-being of Nigerians and the Federal Ministry of Health.

Oluwaseun further said the Geneith Health Competition (www.geneithhealthcompetition.com) for students of tertiary institutions aims to increase awareness, promote research, and encourage innovation in tackling public health issues, especially malaria. He encouraged students to participate actively and be part of the solution, commended the bold steps being taken, and also called on the government for continued support in funding, policies, implementation, and education to ensure malaria is eradicated in the campuses, schools, communities, and ultimately, our nation.

The Geneith Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and CEOAFRICA reiterate their commitment to the long-term success, sustainability, and continued growth of the Geneith Health Competition. This event is said to be a legacy platform, one that is designed to stand the test of time, empower generations, and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria's fight against malaria.
