'Tame Your Third' Leg'—Human Rights Advocate Calls Out Senate President Akpabio Over Recent Scandal With Sen. Natasha

By Onome Naomi

In recent times, a trend in the public space suggests Senate President Godswill Akpabio's clash with colleague Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan is borne out of sexual advances declined by the female lawmaker.

It should be recalled that her allegations came amid a recent confrontation in the Senate chamber. On Thursday, February 21st, 2025, Akpabio ordered sergeants-at-arms to remove Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from the chamber after she resisted relocating to a new seat assigned to her following the defection of two opposition senators to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Citing Orders 24 and 6, Senate Chief Whip Mohammed Monguno asserted that it was within the Senate President’s authority to reassign seats and that a senator could only speak from their designated position. Akpoti-Uduaghan, insisting that her privileges had been breached, attempted to raise a point under Order 10, leading to a heated session in the chamber. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan's inclination is tilted towards the fact that she has refused to succumb to the Senate president's sexual advances, hence the victimization experienced.

However, Kingibe, the chairperson of the Senate Committee on Women Affairs, admitted that the Senate is not gender-friendly, but the situation has improved, adding that women should follow the rules of the institution they chose to enter. Kingibe said, “This is about the rules of the Senate, so other women have been moved several times. On that day, I wasn’t there but gathered that other men were also moved."

To this effect, human rights advocate Comrade Prince Saviour Iche, founder of Ambassadors of Peace and Enlightenment Foundation 'AMPEF' Voice of the Voiceless, is saying that the aforementioned issue has generated a lot of controversy with public opinions in support of and against both lawmakers, but it should be noted that the same Senate president, Akpabio, has a trail of records in the spotlight suggesting a sexual misdemeanor.

Iche cited an incident involving Sen. Akpabio and ex-NDDC MD Joy Nunieh. The lady in concern alleged that she was being harassed sexually, but Akpabio debunked the allegations as usual. This happened in July 2020, as Joy Nunieh, the former acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), publicly accused Godswill Akpabio, then Minister of Niger Delta Affairs and current Senate President, of sexual harassment during a live television interview.

Iche noted that Nunieh claimed Akpabio attempted to harass her sexually at his guest house in Abuja, leading her to slap him in response. She stated, "I am the only woman that slapped Akpabio. He thought he could come up on me. He tried to harass me sexually."Nunieh also alleged that Akpabio sought to involve her in corrupt practices, including inflating the NDDC budget and taking a blood oath of secrecy before confirming her as the substantive head of the NDDC.In response, Akpabio denied these allegations, describing them as "false, malicious, and libelous."

Iche's reviewed that Natasha and Akpabio's fallout already had suspicions from public opinion even before the female lawmaker divulged these allegations to the public. People speculated on reasons Natasha's confrontation towards her leader was without regard, with deductions that something fishy was afoot and most likely romance, which later became the truth the public sought.

Iche further stated,

"In my opinion, Senator Akpabio has sold his respect; hence, the talk down he's getting. Natasha's details of interaction over time with her leader (Sen. Akpabio) with allegations of sexual harassment as exposed to the public need to be addressed with caution and given a listening ear. Nigerians should not be quick to judge Natasha for her truth but rather should examine the situation critically to discourage the sexual harassment of women by their bosses in all sectors."

"The public should note that sexual harassment can also be alleged when a man or woman initiates inappropriate suggestions or discussions with the opposite sex, especially sexual advances. Harassment can also be said to have occurred when one is touched inappropriately, without the person's consent."

"For Senator Natasha, who is a married woman, to come out in the public domain alleging that Akpabio had harassed her severally, leading to the stagnation of her Ajaokuta motion, is a public embarrassment to the Senate president."

"The body of the Human Rights Advocate is giving Senator Akpabio four (4) working days to come out on national television to debunk the allegations levied against him by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan; otherwise, pay the price of the lawsuit slammed against him by the female lawmaker. Akpabio should also give a public account of the ex-NDDC MD who claimed she slapped him for sexual assault."

"Akpabio has been a controversial lawmaker since he assumed the office of the Senate president. By the look of things, Akpabio doesn't possess that value or respect; it is an error for him to occupy that post. Aside from the issue of sexual harassment, Akpabio has been on the wanted list of the EFCC; a questionable character is not fit to be a leader, especially the senate president of a country. What laws can be put into effect when he does not respect the law he enacts?."

"By the Nigerian order of ranking, the Senate president is the number 3 most important man in the country after the president and the vice. A person with a questionable character should not even be a member of the Senate, not to talk of holding such an exalted post; he holds a non-impressive record so far. As a human rights body, we suggest that Sen. Akpabio step down honorably, for he has fumbled."

"Also, the committee of women's affairs condemning Natasha's public outcry should be investigated; obviously, they are either seeking validation or might have been bought over by the senate president. I encourage other women in Nigeria to rise up and back Natasha up to reduce the spate of employers-to-employees' harassment in every sector, whether it's a government or private parastatal."

In conclusion, Iche commends women who are courageous enough to speak up against victimization, sexual harassment, and violation of their rights, as seen in Senator Natasha's recent public outburst; he says if Senate President Godswill Akpabio cannot uphold uprightness, he should resign from office. Meanwhile, the Senate President’s Wife, Unoma Godswill Akpabio, files fundamental rights and defamation suits against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. Unoma stated that Natasha was maligning her husband and “creating content for personal gains.”.

Government should prioritize indigenous languages for national development---Ilobanafor

By Naomisophyblog

The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of CEOAFRICA, Prince Cletus Ilobanafor, has called on the Nigerian government to implement robust language policies to foster national development.

Speaking at the 4th Edition of the African Languages Week (ALW) 2025, Ilobanafor emphasized that prioritizing indigenous languages in governance, education, and technology would accelerate progress in the country.

"For Nigeria to witness unprecedented development, the use of our major languages, Hausa, Igbo, Yorùbá, and others, must be encouraged in all domains of life," he stated.

His remarks come amid growing concerns that the neglect of indigenous languages threatens Nigeria’s cultural identity and socio-economic advancement. Ilobanafor, a prominent advocate for African languages in the digital space, warned that failure to promote linguistic inclusivity could hinder Nigeria’s ability to compete globally.

This year’s African Languages Week, held from February 21 to 28, is themed "African Languages: Voices for Reparations, Justice, and Dignity for the Africa We Want." The event underscores the role of African languages in social justice, digital transformation, and cultural empowerment.

Ilobanafor also congratulated key stakeholders, including the African Union, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and officials from the African Academy of Languages (ACALAN), for their efforts in preserving African linguistic heritage.

"May our languages continue to unite us for a peaceful, prosperous, and healthy Africa," he remarked, echoing the week’s slogan: "My language, my heritage, my dignity."

The call for language-centered policies aligns with broader African Union objectives to integrate indigenous languages into governance and education systems. Experts argue that such measures would not only enhance literacy and communication but also drive economic inclusion and innovation.

Ilobanafor urged Nigerians to embrace their linguistic heritage in everyday life, stressing that sustainable development is impossible without language preservation. "Let us work together to ensure that our languages thrive in the digital age, empowering future generations with their rich heritage," he concluded.

As Nigeria continues its pursuit of digital transformation and global economic relevance, the challenge remains: Will policymakers heed this call and take decisive action to elevate indigenous languages in national development?

CrimeRe: Alleged Defection of 27 Lagos Assembly Members to Labour Party by onochurch(op):
Re: Alleged Defection of 27 Lagos Assembly Members to Labour Party

By Naomisophyblog

The Lagos State House of Assembly wishes to categorically debunk the malicious and unfounded publication alleging that twenty-seven members of the Assembly are planning to defect from the ruling party to the opposition Labour Party (LP). This publication is entirely false, misleading, and a deliberate attempt to misinform the public.

We find this report not only offensive but also riddled with inaccuracies and outright falsehoods that serves no purpose other than to sow discord and confusion within the Assembly and among the good people of Lagos State.

The recent developments in the House, including the removal of the erstwhile Speaker, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, and the election of Rt. Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda as the new Speaker, are purely internal matters. These actions were carried out in accordance with the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria as Ammended.

These events in no way suggest any intention by members to leave the party. We emphasize, without any ambiguity, that no member of the Assembly is contemplating defection.

We were elected under the Leadership of the Ruling Party, The ruling party remains united and focused on delivering its mandate to the people of Lagos State. The falsehood being spread originates from agents of destabilization who seek to create unnecessary tension and division within the Assembly.

To our party leaders and supporters across the state, we assure you that all members remain committed to the party.

Furthermore, we reaffirm that any internal disagreements within the House will be resolved amicably through peaceful and democratic mechanisms. There is no crisis that warrants any member considering defection.

We also call on all media partners to uphold the ethics of journalism by verifying facts before publication and refraining from spreading unverified reports that could mislead the public.

E- Signed

3-Day Capacity-Building Workshop: LIFE Enlightens Young Girls/Women on Preventable Maternal Deaths From Unsafe Abortions

By Naomisophyblog

The 3-day capacity-building workshop with the theme "Amplifying female voices in demanding accountability on preventable maternal deaths in Lagos State," specifically targeted at young girls and women, aims at creating widespread awareness of preventative procedures needed to curb maternal deaths from unsafe abortions, which remains a major public health challenge in Nigeria. The theme of the year 2025 program is 'Amplifying

LIFE program officer Oluwatoyin Mokwe enlightened the audience of young girls and women on building self-awareness, confidence, and positive self-image for empowered decision-making. She noted that self-indulgence in sexual acts without information on safe reproductive health choices to make informed decisions can lead to the unsafe abortion of unwanted pregnancies, causing bodily harm and possibly death.

She enumerated possible causes of maternal morbidity from unsafe abortions, which include lack of knowledge about their bodies and rights, low self-confidence in decision-making, societal pressure and stigma, and limited access to safe reproductive health services. Moreover, Toyin noted that every year, thousands suffer complications from unsafe abortions due to fear, stigma, and lack of access to good health care services; many also do not feel empowered to make informed choices about their reproductive health.

However, self-awareness, she says, is important in reproductive health; the ability to recognize personal values and beliefs helps individuals make productive choices aligned with their well-being. Meanwhile, understanding peer and societal pressures reduces the likelihood of being influenced into unsafe decisions, promotes awareness of reproductive rights and health, and empowers individuals to seek safe, legal healthcare services as well as build emotional intelligence, enabling individuals to handle relationships and reproductive decisions with confidence.

To put self-awareness in action, Toyin mentions that young girls and women should seek safe and legal reproductive health services, avoid risky sexual behaviors that may lead to unintended pregnancies, and stand firm against coercion or stigma when making reproductive choices even in the face of external pressures. This, she says, is why confidence is considered integral in reproductive health, as it encourages seeking reliable information on accurate sexual and reproductive health (SRH), which helps to empower women and girls to make safe choices (they are more likely to access contraception, safe healthcare, and support systems). It also reduces vulnerability to coercion and stigma, as confidence helps individuals resist pressure from peers, partners, or society, enhances communication skills, and enables assertiveness in discussing reproductive health with partners, family, and healthcare providers.

To put confidence in action, a young woman who is confident in her reproductive health choices will say no to unwanted sexual advances and seek contraception without fear or shame. Speak up and demand safe medical care if needed. Make informed decisions about pregnancy, including avoiding unsafe abortion and seeking legal, medical options where available.

More also, building positive self-image and making informed decisions on reproductive health choices is vital in curbing unsafe abortion; self-worth, body confidence, and belief in one's abilities help an individual develop a positive self-image as self-worth leads to self-care. Individuals who value themselves are more likely to prioritize their health; they seek safe reproductive health services rather than engaging in risky behaviors, Toyin noted.

She further stated that

The link between empowerment and prevention of unsafe abortion and understanding the root causes of unsafe abortion below is a lack of information about reproductive health and rights, stigma and societal pressure leading to secrecy and unsafe methods, limited access to contraception and safe abortion services, low self-esteem, and lack of confidence, causing poor decision-making.

Research has shown how empowerment reduces maternal morbidity from unsafe abortion, and this includes informed decision-making, increased confidence to seek help, breaking the cycle of shame & stigma, and economic and social empowerment (education and financial independence reduce vulnerability to unplanned pregnancies and unsafe abortion). Women with opportunities plan their futures and make informed reproductive choices.

However, strategies to build self-awareness, confidence, and positive self-image state that education and awareness, communication and assertiveness training, peer support and mentorship, addressing emotional and mental well-being, and access to reproductive health services are appropriate measures towards curbing unsafe abortions. Also, to advocate for lesser vulnerability to unsafe abortions and their complications entails that non-governmental bodies and individuals should seek policies that support reproductive rights through campaigns to draw the government's attention; empower youths through education and mentorship; strengthen access to safe reproductive health services; and break the stigma around reproductive health decisions.

To create knowledge for a positive effect leading to change, it is important that respective advocates educate (share knowledge with others and debunk myths about reproductive health); Advocate (Speak up for policies that support safe reproductive choices); Support (encourage women and girls to make empowered, informed decisions about their health).

In addition, navigating challenges in implementing safe abortion guidelines involves the interplay of policy, religion, and public health in Nigeria, promoting friendly family planning services.

Eliminating the contribution of unsafe abortion and lack of contraceptive use leading to maternal mortality in Nigeria, as presented by Dr. Adeboje Jimoh Fatimah, a consultant obstetrician and gynecologist at Lagos University Teaching Hospital, states that the family planning method is a low-cost yet effective way of preventing maternal deaths whereby risky pregnancies are avoided and unsafe abortions prevented. Unsafe abortions, she says, have great public health significance and are one of the leading causes of maternal mortality worldwide.

She noted that developing countries have 85% of cases of unsafe abortions and 98% of deaths. Care by skilled health professionals before, during, and after childbirth can save the lives of women and newborns. Maternal deaths can be caused by hemorrhage, sepsis, hypertensive disease of pregnancy (pre-eclampsia/eclampsia), labor complications/obstructed labor, and unsafe abortion. Together, this can account for about 2/3 of all maternal deaths.

However, the method of family planning with the use of contraception is advisable to serve as preventive measures and is divided into traditional and modern contraception. The traditional contraception involves rhythm (periodic abstinence) and the withdrawal method, while the modern contraception is the use of combined hormonal contraception, progesterone-only preparation, emergency contraception, intrauterine contraception, barrier methods, and sterilization.

Also, there is the 'Unmet Need for Contraception,' defined as the proportion of currently married women who do not want any more children but are not using any form of family planning (unmet need for contraception for limiting), while the 'Contraceptive Prevalence' is the percentage of women who are currently using, or whose sexual partner is currently using, at least one method of contraception, regardless of the method used.

Fatima stated that the use of contraceptives is low, leading to unsafe abortions. On central roles of contraception, she mentioned that awareness is low, low usage, 3% usage in women in union, unmet need for family planning 18.89%, low felt need, low contraceptive prevalence rate, and a large family is the norm, especially for poor homes. However, safe motherhood initiatives have benefits of an increased planned pregnancy, a reduction in the risk for STIs and HIV and other transmitted diseases, a decreased mother-to-child transmission of HIV, increased capacity of facilities to respond to obstetric emergencies, increasing referrals to gynecological care, increased girl child education, increasing women's status, poverty reduction, and sustainable economic development.

Prevention and the way forward to curbing maternal morbidity through unsafe abortions can be achieved by advocacy to increase awareness, public education, and reproductive health education in schools on contraception, abortion and its complications, abstinence when not ready for conception, and if otherwise, using effective contraception and SDGs universal basic education on gender equality, women empowerment, and eradicating poverty.

A secondary prevention will be the upgrading of the healthcare system to provide safe and affordable abortion services in terms of training, equipment, and infrastructure; the reformation of abortion laws to address other issues like physical and mental health, rape, incest, and congenital malformations, among others; political willingness; and social, cultural, and religious involvement, while tertiary prevention is the prompt and appropriate treatment of abortion complications, the concept and practice of comprehensive abortal care by community/provider partnerships, counseling and treatment of post-abortal patients, provision of contraceptive services and linkage to other reproductive health services, and provision of 'Emergency Obstetric Care (EmOC)' and post-abortion care (PAC).

In conclusion, it should be noted that maternal mortality is a global issue, unsafe abortion is a major contributor to maternal mortality, contraception has a major role in the reduction of maternal mortality, all levels of intervention have to work simultaneously to curb maternal morbidity, and Nigeria is lagging behind in the recent global trend. Appropriately directed political advocacy can serve as an essential factor in eliminating unsafe abortion in Nigeria. Access to quality reproductive health and family planning is essential, especially as we move into the 'Survive, Thrive, and Transform' agenda of sustainable development. We need to transform the way we visualize the problem of unsafe abortion and non-usage of contraceptive services.

PoliticsE-X-P-O-S-E-D: How Commission Record Shows Ruzu Company Paid N70m To Dr. Isa Ahm by onochurch(op):
E-X-P-O-S-E-D: How commission record shows Ruzu company paid N70m to Dr. Isa Ahmed from 2020-2021; not N4m as claimed by his lawyer Barr. Uche Uwazuruonye

.....as Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi Roberts holds Dr. Isa Ahmed and his lawyer Barr. Uche Uwazuruonye accountable in settling FIRS.

By Onome Naomi

As the face-off continues between Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi Roberts, CEO of Ruzu Herbal Products and Services Ltd., and Dr. Isa Ahmed, aka ordinary president of Berekete Family, more startling facts in contrast with Dr. Isa Ahmed's claims surface.

It should be recalled that on November 19th, 2024, when Dr. Isa Ahmed had the first broadcast debunking ever being a close ally with Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi, he made claims that:

Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi Roberts was a man he helped due to the issues he had with a certain pastor who had the intention to overtake his herbal company, and he (Dr. Isa) came to Dr. Uzu's rescue.

His platform (Berekete Family), which used to promote the Ruzu herbal products, was stopped due to customer complaints about its reduced efficacy.

He (Dr. Isa Ahmed) had no business with the said account in dispute that had made transactions of N50bn in the last four years, accruing N2bn in tax unpaid.

However, during the second broadcast in January, he admitted to knowing of an account created for the payment of his commission from Ruzu Herbal Products that he initially debunked ever existed.

Barr Uche Uwazuruonye noted that only N4m was realized from revenue paid for over a year of partnership with Dr. Uzu when, in fact, the commission account realized N70m during the one-and-a-half-year period of partnership.

In response to the letter of demand sent across to the ordinary president and his lawyer Barr. Uche Uwazuruonye by Dr. Uzu's lawyer Gyang Zi SAN to own up to their responsibility of paying tax generated from the account in dispute, the ordinary president made false claims that Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi Roberts offered to support the Brekete Family Program and, through Barr. Uche Uwazuruonye, sent some money to him for that purpose. Meanwhile, the relationship that exists between Dr. Uzu and Dr. Isa was business, and there is evidence to show how much sales Dr. Isa Ahmed made by marketing the Ruzu products and how much commission he gets after sales as against his claims of support fees. Dr. Isa Ahmed gets 30% of sales made from marketing Ruzu products, and Barr. Uwazuruonye was the middleman who received the alert of money paid into the account in dispute, as he's the sole signatory to the account.

More also, Barr Uche Uwazuruonye claimed that only N4m was realized as commission earned by his principal Dr. Isa Ahmed during the one year and a half period of partnership with Dr. Uzu, but the records show otherwise. In the records available for only two months, one week of recorded transactions, it shows over N6m was realized in just that period and over N70m commission paid during the one year and a half partnership as against N4m claims by Barr. Uwazuruonye.

To further show how inaccurate and despicable the duo of Dr. Isa Ahmed and his lawyer has become, the address during account opening was not Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi's office address but that of the Berekete Human Rights Radio TV office address. This remains a significant error when they both debunked not being deeply associated with the account.

It should also be recalled that the situation at hand began when Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi Roberts, CEO of Ruzu Herbal Products, was invited by FIRS to clear an outstanding bill of N2bn unpaid tax from an alien account he gave out company details to open for the payment of commission on sales of his product by Dr. Isa Ahmed of Berekete Family. As of the time of the one year and a half partnership and for accountability's sake, Dr. Isa Ahmed had requested a separate account be created for payment of his 30% commission on products sold for the Ruzu company and later demanded a 50% commission, leading to Dr. Uzu's withdrawal as partners.

The account was created using Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi Roberts company details, but he was not a signatory to the said account; instead, Barr. Uche Uwazuruonye was a signatory to the account, standing as a middleman for both partners as instructed by his principal, Dr. Isa Ahmed. Dr. Uzu, out of trust and commitment, had released the company's CAC registration without fear or doubt of Dr. Isa Ahmed's integrity until he was called by FIRS that there is an accrued tax.
The accounts are:
Ruzu Herbal Products and Services Ltd. 0482756836 Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB) 0482756843 Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB) 0482756850 Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB) 0482756867 Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB)

Upon investigations, he found out the account that was supposed to remain dormant after the partnership was terminated four years ago was turned to Dr. Isa Ahmed's and Barr. Uche Uwazuruonye's personal account, where they transacted about N50bn, leading to an unpaid tax of N2bn, and he hopes to push tax payment on the Ruzu company, forgetting the other significant details on the account, such as their addresses and signature, which is the ordinary president's organization address and Barr. Uwazuruonye's signature.

The question therein is:

Is Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi Roberts, who is not a signatory to the account and does not have any personal information about the said account in dispute, paying taxes for the users of the account?

The ordinary president should question Barr Uche Uwazuruonye on the true nature of that said account—that is, if he's truly not aware. It is still in doubt that the ordinary president does not know for sure that the said account held that much money as a commission or had other transactions out of Ruzu company payments.

He added that officers whom the association is friends with today were once occupying smaller positions with smaller ranks but have grown into bigger positions through hard work and resilience. Commends the Nigeria Police from all formations as he encourages them to keep up with efforts to rid the society of crime and criminality.

Eze Chika mentioned that another vital reason the members of the association are visiting is to build relationships with the Nigeria Police to assist in concerning issues, particularly to not cover fraudulent acts. He said members of the association do legitimate businesses that need police assistance once in a while to avoid being intimidated by their oppressors. Some have cases of business gone wrong, where a client fraudulently absconded with money meant for a smooth transaction but confiscated and other cases involving business transactions. The ability to seek succor and justice with the Nigeria Police will further foster peace of mind and protectiveness, Eze Chika said.

In response and appreciation over the courtesy visit, AIG Augustina N. Ogbodo, Assistant Inspector General of Police, Force Criminal Investigation Dept. (FCIID) Annex Lagos, stated that her knowledge of Eze Chika Nwokedi over the years has been positive reviews. She described Eze Chika as a receptive man with a good heart; he's indiscriminatory regardless of tribe or age.

AIG Augustina noted that her appointment to Lagos seems more fulfilling with the support of Igbo brothers and sisters; urge the Igbo to be responsive to her calls anytime she needs their assistance, especially on information and any other needs. Advised the Igbos to keep their hands clean, as she will be welcoming and attentive to those with legitimate concerns, appreciates members of the association for the visit and show of love.

CP Saadat Ismaila, Commissioner of Police Administrative Dept FCIID Alagbon Annex Lagos, also appreciated the courtesy visit by the association; she said her many years of knowing the founder of the association, Eze Chika Nwokedi, have been nothing but a good and cordial relationship for his show of support to the Nigeria Police, advising members of the association to emulate their leader as well as seizing the opportunity of the visit to build good relationships with the Nigerian police.

CP Okunnade Ronke Nurat fsi, Commissioner of Police General Investigation FCIID Alagbon Annex Lagos, said as an Ogbomoso-born and bred, she's a true Nigerian, welcoming of all tribes but will not associate herself with criminally minded people; she prefers to ally along with people who have like minds, the very reason she aligns so well with the president of the Association, Eze Chika Nwokedi.

CP Okunnade revealed that the many years of acquaintance with Eze Chika Nwokedi show he likes justice, he doesn't get involved in criminal cases, and he does not try to cover up for criminal elements. She appreciates the love and support the association showed and advised members to see other tribes as one and let love radiate to all regardless of tribe. Describes Eze Chika as a loved traditional leader who has the love of the police at heart; advises all to be friends with the police. Says police do not discriminate with civilians because information to investigate criminals is in their hands; she prays God rewards Eze Chika and members of his association for the constant show of love, encouragement, and support for the Nigeria Police.

CP Simeon U. Akpanudom, PSC, FDC, MNIM, Commissioner of Police, Anti-fraud Unit, FCIID Alagbon Annex, Lagos, commended Eze Chika's leadership qualities in carrying his subjects and subordinates along to enjoy the same opportunities and relationship benefits from the Nigeria Police as the association shows support in return. Says his office is always open to attending to the needs of members of the association as long as they need justice and accountability, especially over fraud cases. He noted that he has zero tolerance for criminals as he advised all to promote peace and love. Appraised Ugoeze Pst. Tessy Chika Nwokedi for supporting her husband to excel, appreciates the visit.

ACP Obiora Okonkwo of SWAT FSARS Force CIID Annex Lagos was appreciated by the association for being very helpful and attentive to the needs of the Ndigbo Buru'Otu Association of Nigeria; putting the interest of the association first in his dealings before personal interest shows goodwill and cordiality. The association commended his good will as they promise to keep up with legitimate dealings with the Nigeria Police.

Ordinary President Dr. Isa Ahmed, his legal luminary Barr. Uwazuruonye, gives contradictory responses to Dr. Uzu's letter of demand; faults FIRS

.....as Dr. Isa Ahmed threatens former staff Ogidan Adewuyi Bayo of the Berekete Family alleged for snitching in favour of Dr Uzu.

By Onome Naomi

In response to the letter dated January 20th, 2025, written to Ordinary President Dr. Isa Ahmed and his lawyer Barr. Uwazuruonye by Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi Roberts through his legal luminary Zhang Zi (SAN), the aforementioned parties gave contradictory statements in denial of FIRS's claim of N2bn tax unpaid and N50bn transactions carried out from the account in dispute; questions FIRS claims.

It should be recalled that Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi Roberts, CEO of Ruzu Herbal Products and Services Ltd., cried out over the excessive amount owing to FIRS from an account supposedly created for commission payments of herbal products sold by his former partner, Dr. Isa Ahmed. However, Dr. Uzu gave out company documents for the account creation but was not a signatory to it; Barr. Uwazuruonye, who happens to be the Ordinary President's lawyer, was a signatory to the account in dispute with directives from his principal (Dr. Isa Ahmed).

Both responses in reference to the letter of demand by Dr. Uzu's lawyer, Zyang Zi (SAN), show that there was an element of understanding between Dr. Ruzu, Ordinary President Dr. Isa Ahmed, and Barr. Uche Uwazuruonye at the time of the account creation specifically to pay commissions from Ruzu Herbal Products distributed using the Ordinary President's platform. However, while the ordinary president denied knowing the contents of the account creation, Barr. Uche Uwazuruonye affirmed he was the signatory and intermediary in terms of what goes in and out of the account by his principals directives.

Again, Barr Uwazuruonye denied not being privy to the details of the relationship between Ordinary (Dr.) Isah Ahmed and Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi Roberts; he only knew Dr. Uzu when asked to address issues of trademark Ruzu products was facing, which is allegedly false as stated by Dr. Uzu. He says there has never been a time trademark issues were discussed with Ordinary President or Barr Uwazuruonye; the only relationship therein was the partnership and distributorship, Uzu added.

Dr. Uzu further declined the meeting requested by Barr. Uwazuruonye supposedly for the aggrieved parties to meet on the basis that "this same meeting was suggested earlier on by Dr. Uzu's former lawyer but was bluffed by Dr. Isa Ahmed and Barr. Uwazuruonye, throwing caution to the wind by challenging the stance of peace and resolution, hence Uzu's outburst leading to many concerning situations.".

More also, the response by Barr Uwazuruonye is insinuating that FIRS should be questioned about the purported amount generated amounting to N2bn tax unpaid from the account in dispute. Ordinary President also said, "I have never opened or run an account in your client's names," making claims of not running any account using Ruzu company details, yet also affirming he was receiving a commission from an account created by Dr. Uzu and signed by Barr. Uwazuruonye, his lawyer. Why make contradictory statements when it is a known fact there was an account created for the purpose of payment of your commissions from sales of products? but converted to personal use.

The response by Barr Uwazuruonye and Dr. Isa Ahmed is in denial that the alien account was ever used for personal transactions in contrast to the FIRS report; that only N4,000,000 was transacted in that account, which is the total commission Dr. Uzu paid so far before termination of contracts; that FIRS must have falsified tax owing if only N4,000,000 was ever transacted.

Dr. Uzu is saying that by calculations and period of partnership, commissions paid into the account in dispute are far above 4 million naira; that both Barr. Uwazuruonye and Ordinary President Dr. Isa Ahmed are aware he is not a signatory to, which begs the question, when was the account created? For what purpose was the commission's account created?, and who are the beneficiaries of the said account?. Uzu emphasizes he knows nothing about the account; he trustfully gave out his details for commissions created; he will not pay tax for an account he didn't benefit from while he promises to corroborate FIRS claims with Isa and Uche's testament.

Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi Roberts has also, in reference to the online journalists authorized to publish the issues between him and the ordinary president, stated that the online publications were necessary following the December 2024 broadcast made by Dr. Isa Ahmed using his Berekete platform to rubbish Ruzu products in grievance of an out-of-public-eyes approach he undertook when the issue of FIRS came to be. He (Dr. Isa Ahmed) was the first to come to social media to disclaim their relationship, telling falsehoods about how they both met, bonded, and partnered. Uzu said his idea of also addressing their issues before the public was a mandatory step to undertake.

Presently, the ordinary president made derogatory and threatening remarks during his live broadcast on Berekete Family on February 3rd, 2025, against a former staff member, one Ogidan Adewuyi Bayo, alleged to be the mole divulging information to Dr. Uzu. The young man whom Dr. Uzu said has no hand or bearing in whatever information he's been working with made a concerning call that needs to be addressed, as the innocent cannot be threatened and alleged without evidence, Uzu noted. Information has it that after the live broadcast, Ordinary President put a call across to Ogidan's family, threatening to jail their son Bayo.

Uzu warns that if anything happens to Ogidan, Dr. Isa Ahmed should be held responsible for his bullying act needs to be curtailed. The act of bullying by Dr. Isa is known and felt by especially his former staffs, who have different stories of his maltreatment. Ogidan Adewumi Bayo, threatened by Dr. Isa Ahmed, aka the ordinary president of Berekete Family and Human Rights Radio, is a former staff member who suffered maltreatment despite his absolute loyalty and commitment to Dr. Isa Ahmed before he resigned to seek greener pastures. He was the videographer in charge of all Brekete programs.

Publisher of NationGuard News, Fidel Ozugha, arrested for conspiracy over death of a 74-year-old woman in Abagana, faults Nigerian police for defamation without due investigation

..... Says the deceased is his stepmother, and he only got to the crime scene a day after hearing of her death due to distance; meanwhile, the real suspect is at large.

By Onome Naomi

A trending story circulating in the public space from Saturday, January 25, 2025 till date states that, “The police in Anambra State police operatives serving at Abagana Divisional Police Headquarters on 26/1/2024 by 9 am arrested four suspects, including a 21-year-old lady, Chinenye Ekwenugo, from Ifitedunu, over the burning of a 74 (seventy-four) year old woman in a wheel in Abagana.

“The three other suspects include Uzochukwu Okeke ‘M’ aged 54, Fidel Anayo (denying my surname, OZUGHA) ‘M’ (my very self) aged over 60, and Ikenna Anene ‘M’ aged years, respectively.

“During interrogation by the police operatives, the suspect, Chinenye, CONFESSED THAT HER BOYFRIEND, IFEANYI IGWE, WHO IS CURRENTLY AT LARGE, AND THREE OTHERS SET THE VICTIM ABLAZE and got a casket to bury her before the intervention of the security operatives.”

Fidel Ozugha, who is the stepson of the deceased and alleged conspirator, explained his own side of the story, saying:

The woman, the late Mrs. Alice Anene, was my stepmother who brought me up. I stayed with her and her late husband, late Mr. Chukwunweike Anene, to babysit their only son, Tochukwu Anen, late, until I entered secondary school in 1979. She was everything a mother could be to me, providing me with emotional, psychological, and material support and other motherly assistance. I was called her first son due to the bond we share as mother and son.

As year passed , she aged, she became old and heavy such that she couldn’t walk on her feet any more. A wheelchair was provided for easy access to move around, but she spends most of her morning and evening lying in bed, except it's necessary for her to move about a little. In her lifetime, she has six daughters and, gloriously, a great-grandmother.

I got a WhatsApp message around 10 pm Saturday night from Obinna Anene—a nephew—while weak and half asleep. So I put my phone off to read it later when I would wake up to work around 1.30 am.

The text message reads that my stepmother is dead; in shock and sadness, I replied to Obinna, who sent the message, asking him what happened to her, but the little information he could give was that she was burnt alive while in bed. Then I asked how—by kitchen fire or electric or what. He asked that I should visit the family, which I hurriedly did by the morning of the next day, suspending other schedules for the day. I called the eldest man in our family, Chief Christopher Ozugha (Akunwafor Abagana), and briefed him about her death and that I was going there.

So on getting there, I saw people sitting, some standing, and discussing in groups. I asked Fidelia, the first daughter, what happened. She replied that Mama has gone. I went further to ask how come and what actually happened. She replied that it was what they beheld. I greeted two other stepmothers, Mrs. Felicia and Mrs. Rita, mother of Ikenna Anene. I inferred from their interactions that the victim was ignited by a fellow at large.

I then proceeded to the crime scene to behold her remains covered with a mat and a bag containing her burnt body, which I later learned was beside the covered body. I couldn’t contain myself. So this woman who breastfed me and gave me succor would be reduced to ashes; the realization of the reason for her death sent chills throughout my body. I was also told that some people involved had been arrested.

Then I thought of the best thing to do in such a situation. I called Chief Uchenna Anene (Uchesco), who is the head of the Anene family, and we agreed to go and get a casket. I called DPO Njikoka/Abagana Police Station thrice, but he didn’t pick my calls. He later called back, and I introduced myself to him, explaining the situation. In a lighter mode, he also said he is a journalist but a policeman by profession.

Since there was no body bag and remains were in such a sorry state—an eyesore of the highest order—the situation might warrant an autopsy, in which case the casket might serve that purpose. The mat she was wrapped in was in the way to be used for that, a delicate saving of her body parts before burial as the corpse was in ruins.

When we came with the casket, I had to call her relations to inform them of her death. Twice I called Prof. Prosper Okonkwo, but he didn’t pick up my calls, so I sent him an SMS message, which he later replied to, confirming that he had gotten news of the tragedy.

So with Uchesco, we went to get a carton of beer and a hot drink with which to go and visit her people and inform them formally of the incident as tradition demands.

On getting back to the scene to pick up Uzochukwu Okeke, whose mother was a senior sister to the late Mrs. Alice, to go with us to his mother’s people, the DPO with his men was already in the compound interrogating some people.

The locked entrance was opened for us to come in. The DPO was calling my number, asking who called him with the number, explaining that the owner of the number claimed that the deceased was his stepmother. I came in at the time of the questioning and answered him in affirmation. There and then he asked his men to arrest me, for I was a suspect.

I didn’t understand and asked him why, especially his use of the word ‘SUSPECT’ for me and on me. He asked who bought the casket, and I said we did. He exclaimed that we all were trying to cover up our crime.

Furthermore, DPO Peter of Abagana Police station, who have refused to investigate the matter but would rather arrest for the purpose of holding someone responsible for the incident went on to give our pictures for publication to BBC and used on Facebook. Moreover, the false information and allegation were passed on to the Anambra Women Affairs Commission, which prompted their Facebook publication. I consider this gross wickedness and violation of my fundamental human rights. This defamation allegation will not be left unattended to as my integrity is at stake.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ikenna Anene, whose picture appeared along with ours, was also arrested by the police. Mr. Ikenna is the son of the late Francis Anene, who was a senior brother to the husband of the late Alice in question. He is a cousin to the children of the deceased. So two of us were asked to enter their vehicle. The remains were collected and kept in the casket, and the bag was also taken to Beke Hospital for autopsy and embalming.

Meanwhile, we were taken to the police station together with the four daughters of the woman, barring the last one. We spent the night inside the cell where ventilation was more of carbon dioxide than oxygen. Apart from the dwarf, burglary-proof-like iron door, there are only two pigeonhole openings atop the corners in the cell.

The accusation that I, Fidel Anayo Ozugha, Publisher and Editor in Chief of The NationGuardNews online newspaper Lagos and Managing Director of the NationGuardTV, am among the arrested four suspects over the burning of a 74 (seventy-four) year old woman in a wheelchair…” is not funny at all.

The scandalous publication with my picture displayed with impunity is a serious defamation of character. Should I be identified with such a crime by my own mother? At this age and stage of my life—a proud father of three, happily married. Those who know me and have related to me socially, professionally, religiously, etc., can testify that I am not given to crime, especially of that nature.

I shall also exonerate my cousin Ikenna Anene from the scandals. He came from Onitsha, his base, that Sunday on hearing about it. How would you relate an event that happened the previous day and the presence of a relation that arrived at the scene a day after? And this is a man who must be there as head of a branch of the Anene dynasty. Responsibility compelled him to witness the burial of a wife of his uncle, to stand for and support his cousins, and share the sorrow with them at the critical time. Is he guilty as presumed?

What offense has Uzochkwu Okeke committed? An employer of labor whose staff were coming one after another to see him among those detained in Abagana Police Station. Mr. Okeke's late mother was an elder sister to the deceased. So his presence there was not trespassing or interloping. He is the one who has been managing certain affairs in the family. I don’t know much about the girl Chinenye Ekwenugo except that she is from Ifitedunu, whose ‘husband,’ Ifeanyi Igwe, the alleged principal in the crime, is from Ebonyi State. It is said that her mother was from Amaene village of Abagana.

Let me thank God Almighty, who never ceases to answer my prayers. I thank my wife for her sacrifice, sleepless nights she kept awake ‘disturbing’ God to attend to supplications. Then my star children swore that their dad was one hundred percent innocent.

Let me also tell those Abagana sons, daughters, and wives all over the world who saw and doubted the authenticity of the message and disbelieved the credibility of the source. Many called on the phone to hear my voice. Others came physically to see my face and hear my voice as well. Some sent text messages.

Fellow old boys of OTS, my colleagues in the business of information dissemination, social friends, and business friends. Those who know me know that I am not made of that stuff. To continue in the search for the possible culprit, questions must be asked and answers thoroughly examined.

Those who seek to know the truth or already know the truth and felt some pain from the malicious report had reached me. For more clarification, I can be reached at 08035667591. Fidel Ozugha, Publisher, NationGuard News.

PoliticsFresh Facts Emerge Over Dr. Isa Ahmed's N50bn Scandal As FIRS Confirms An Alien by onochurch(op):
Fresh facts emerge over Dr. Isa Ahmed's N50bn scandal as FIRS confirms an alien account transacted N50bn subsequent to end of partnership with Dr. Uzu.

By Naomisophyblog

The battle between Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi of Ruzu Herbal Products and Services Ltd and Dr. Isa Ahmed, aka the ordinary president of Berekete Family, continues as FIRS reaffirms that N50bn was transacted in the account in dispute, accruing 2bn in unpaid tax in the last 4 years.

It will be recalled that the FIRS Alimosho office in September 2024 apprehended the CEO of Ruzu Herbal Products and Services Ltd., Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi, over an evasion of tax payment of N2,000,000,000 generated from four GTBank accounts with over N50,000,000,000 transactions made in the last 4 years. The accounts are:

Ruzu Herbal Products and Services Ltd.

0482756836 Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB)
0482756843 Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB)
0482756850 Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB)
0482756867 Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB)

Information has it that these four accounts were opened by Dr Isa Ahmed's account officer Olufemi Usman who had previously worked with GTbank but now with Eco bank. Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi Roberts initially had authorized the opening of this account for commission payment of Ruzu products distributed by Dr. Isa Ahmed, who was then in partnership with Ruzu Herbal Products and Services Ltd., but the latter converted that account for personal use, accruing 2bn tax owing to FIRS after the end of the partnership.

The end of the partnership occurred between Dr. Uzu and Dr. Isa Ahmed, aka the ordinary president of the Berekete Family, when he (Dr. Isa) made a demand for an increased commission from 30% to 50%, which was met with a decline by Dr. Uzu, hence the end of the partnership deals. However, Dr. Isa Ahmed went on to make personal transactions to the tune of N50bn, accruing taxes from his transaction unrelated to the Ruzu company.

Dr. Uzu noted that he is not a signatory to the said account, which may sound odd to the public because, at the time of account opening, Dr. Isa Ahmed's lawyer, Barr. Uche Uwazuluonye, was made the sole signatory to the account for reasons that Dr. Isa, as an anti-government person, will prefer anonymity over his financial transactions with people so as not to attract the prying of government agencies into his business.

Due to the aforementioned, Dr. Uzu trusted Dr. Isa Ahmed, aka the ordinary president, based on his display of integrity to give out company documents for the creation of a payment commission account with GTBank via Dr. Isa's account officer Olufemi Usman.

Dr. Uzu explained further that

"As the CEO of Ruzu Herbal Products and Services Ltd., it was not mandatory that I give out company details for account creation meant for commission payments to my clients. I did based on trust but had been betrayed, intimidated, and bullied.'

"FIRS released documents showing the accumulation of tax from 4 years ago when we ended cooperation. I am not a signatory to the account in dispute; I do not get alerts of what goes in and out. Dr. Isa Ahmed and his lawyer, Barr. Uche Uwazuluonye, get alerts and have access to the accounts. If their hands are clean, they need to present the account statements from that year to date."

"Dr. Isa Ahmed, aka ordinary president, should stop peddling lies and stop destroying the image of Ruzu Herbal Products to gain public relevance. What he should be doing now is having a meeting with his subordinates Barr. Uche Uwazuluonye, whom he calls on air to bear falsehood, and his PA Barr. Pamela Pius, who also bears false witness, on how to pay a tax of N2bn owing to FIRS; otherwise, meet me and my lawyer in court if the 14-day ultimatum given elapses."

The letter of demand by Zyang Zi (SAN) particularly emphasizes that

* A statement of accounts from the aforementioned account numbers should be provided to corroborate with the FIRS record.

*Give accounts of all the monies that passed through those bank accounts at Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB) and any other bank you used. Our clients documents to open an account, pay the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) the sum of N2,000,000,000.00 (two billion naira), and any other monies demanded by FIRS as tax.

*Submit to our clients all the bank statements as requested via their letter dated 13/12/2024 forthwith.

Where you fail to comply with this letter within 14 days, we shall be left with no option other than to commence appropriate legal proceedings against you without any further notice.

However, the Ruzu Bitters, publicly discredited by Dr. Isa Ahmed, is produced by the multiple award-winning Ruzu Herbal Brand, which has been in existence for over 11 years and appraised nationally and internationally for quality and efficacy. The company has grown organically to become a leading name in the manufacturing of herbal products.

It is also noteworthy that the company is wholly run by a team of experienced, focused, and competent Nigerian professionals with exemplary passion for research and innovation; the company is USFDA, ISO, and NAFDAC certified; Ruzu Herbal now sells on Amazon and distributed worldwide.

Meanwhile, Ruzu Company, in response to a broadcast made by Dr. Isa Ahmed, aka ordinary president, in December 2024, following the demand to pay accrued tax owed using an account created solely for payment of his commission but converted to personal use after the end of the contract, Dr. Uzu enlightened the public on the true story behind the N2bn tax imposed by FIRS due to N50bn transactions made by Dr. Isa Ahmed and his lawyer on Monday, January 27th, 2025, but was met with resistance as Isa Ahmed, who's used to bullying his rivalries using his platform with millions of followers to create falsehoods went on air to peddle lies, mislead the public to gain supporters, and discredit Ruzu Brand with support from his co-conspirators Barr. Uche Uwazuluonye and Barr. Pamela Pius.

It should be recalled that in 2021, BBC and DailyTrust revealed the real face behind Dr. Isa Ahmed, aka the ordinary president of the Berekete Family, for his high-handedness, maltreatment, and abuse of his staff at will. Some ladies who prefer to remain anonymous gave insights on how they have been abused sexually by Dr. Isa in the guise of an assistant over their many problems. It is not far-fetched that Dr. Isa Ahmed's act of bullying is a trait he displays nonchalantly and sometimes in bold claims like someone who's inclined to feel he's above the law.

It is a known fact that Dr. Isa uses his platform and followers to bully his rivalries. Numerous comments trailed reports by PM Express and Naomisophyblog affirming Isa's high-handedness.

PoliticsDr. Uzu Roberts Onyemaechi Of Ruzu Herbal Products Fires Back At Dr. Isa Ahmed O by onochurch(op): 6:23am On Jan 27, 2025
Dr. Uzu Roberts Onyemaechi of Ruzu Herbal Products Fires back at Dr. Isa Ahmed of Berekete Family for Defamation Statement on Ruzu Herbal Products

.....Says FIRS demand of N2bn tax payment from N50bn transactions must be paid by Dr. Isa Ahmed, not Ruzu Herbal Products and Services Limited, for using the company's commission account to make other nonrelated transactions.

By Onome Naomi

The fallout between two giant organizations over broken trust, greed, and resentment is about to get messy, as seen in the case of the CEO of Ruzu Herbal Products and Services Limited, Dr. Uzu Roberts Onyemaechi, and the president of Berekete Family, Dr. Isa Ahmed.

Dr. Uzu may likely summon the president of the Berekete Family, Dr. Isa Ahmed, and his lawyer, Barr. Uche Uwazuluonye, to court over the fraudulent use of a GTBank account solely created for the purpose of payment of commission from sales of Ruzu Bitters but converted to personal usage by Dr. Isa and his lawyer, leading to N2 billion in tax owing to FIRS from N50 billion in unspecified transactions. Also, Dr. Uzu fires back at Dr. Isa, aka the ordinary president of the Berekete Family, over defamation statements made in a recent viral video to debunk the aforementioned allegations.

In September 2024, the CEO of Ruzu Herbal Products and Services Ltd, Dr. Roberts Onyemaechi Uzu, was apprehended by the FIRS in Alimosho over an evasion of tax payment of N2,000,000,000 generated from four GTBank accounts with over N50,000,000,000 transactions made in the last 4 years.

The rude shock led Dr. Uzu to do a fact-finding investigation on how he accrued N2bn and transacted N50bn in 4 years when his production capital for Ruzu Herbal Products is not up to the aforementioned amounts. The investigation led him to a disagreement with the President of the Berekete Family, Alhaji Isa Ahmed, aka the ordinary president, who was in partnership with the Ruzu Brand to market the Ruzu Herbal Products as a major distributor and earns a 30% commission from sales of the product.

Dr. Uzu explained that during the partnership period, a separate account for the payment of a 30% commission by Ruzu Company was created using Ruzu Company details as suggested by Isa Ahmed, and it was a GTBank account with Barr. Uche Uwazuluonye (Isa's lawyer) as the sole signatory. However, after a period, Isa Ahmed came up with demands for a 50% commission but was declined by Dr. Uzu, who interpreted Isa's demand as inconsiderate because Ruzu Herbals was newly launched into the market and needed more funding.

Dr. Isa Ahmed, the president of Berekete Family, ended up expressing his discontinuity if a 50% commission cannot be met, and that ended the partnership deal. Meanwhile, four years later, Dr. Uzu apprehended Isa Ahmed after his encounter with FIRS and his findings in September 2024, but Isa Ahmed bluffed his calls and instead went public to discredit the Ruzu Brand.

Meanwhile, the Ruzu Bitters, publicly discredited by Dr. Isa Ahmed, is produced by the multiple award-winning Ruzu Herbal Brand, which has been in existence for over 11 years and appraised nationally and internationally for quality and efficacy. The company has grown organically to become a leading name in the manufacturing of herbal products.

It is also noteworthy that the company is wholly run by a team of experienced, focused, and competent Nigerian professionals with exemplary passion for research and innovation; the company is USFDA, ISO, and NAFDAC certified.

It should be noted that Berekete's lawyer, Barr. Uche Uwazuluonye, was signatory to the Gtbank account created for the 30% commission by Ruzu Herbal Products in 2019; he was also reached concerning the accumulation of tax from the account in dispute but expressed nonchalance and arrogance in dismissal of the claims by Dr. Uzu.

Dr. Uzu said he never suspected any foul play by Isa Ahmed due to his display of integrity, hence the trust to release company documents as an aid for account creation of commission remittances. It is an odd situation where one's lawyer would be the sole signatory to his client's bank account, but he (Dr. Uzu) still had no inclination that the duo was preparing to use the said account for personal gains until four years later in 2024 when FIRS summoned Ruzu's company for unpaid tax of N2bn.

According to Dr. Uzu, efforts to reach a resolution were rebuffed by Isa Ahmed and his lawyer. Affirms that Isa Ahmed, his lawyer Barr. Uche Uwazuluonye, must be held accountable for their actions, calls on the public and the government to be alert on how events unfold, and says he will not be subjected to intimidation or any form of slander to pay for what he knows nothing about as FIRS continues to pressure him on tax evasion for four years, amounting to N2,000,000,000.

As of the time of this report, a letter of demand has been sent to Barr. Uche Ewazuluonye and Alhaji Isa Ahmed, aka the ordinary president of Human Rights Radio and Television (Berekete Family), dated for January 20th, 2025, and has been endorsed by the duo, giving 14 days to respond; otherwise, they will be summoned to court.

Sir,

LETTER OF DEMAND

The above refers!

We are solicitors to Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi Robert and Ruzu Herbal Products and Services Ltd. (herein referred to as our clients), and we write on the firm instruction of our clients.

Our clients are health care providers who are into the production of organic supplements/herbal medicine for a very long period of time in Nigeria, with the head office at 15 Abdul-Rahamonu Street, Igando, Lagos State, Nigeria.

In 2019, our clients having saturated the whole market in the Southern part of Nigeria decided to enter the Northern part of Nigeria for a marketing tour of their products, pursuant to which the Managing Director, Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi Robert, met one Talatu Uwa Ebune, the Managing Director of Nana Pharmacy in Kaduna State, wherein he introduced himself and the company’s products to the said Talatu Uwa Ebune (a.k.a. Nana Pharmacy) with the intention of making Nana Pharmacy take over the sales and distribution of RUZU HERBAL PRODUCTS AND SERVICES LTD. Products in Northern Nigeria. That Nana then introduced our clients to one Isa Ahmed as the Chief Executive Officer of Human Right Radio and Television (Berekete Family).

That our clients introduced the products to the said Isa Ahmed, and he showed interest in our clients’ products. That Isa Ahmed also collected our clients’ products and phone numbers with a promise that if he tests the products and confirms the efficacy of the products, he will call our clients. A month later, the said Isa Ahmed put a call across to the Managing Director (Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi Robert) and asked him to board the next available flight from Lagos to Abuja.

That our client took the next available flight from Lagos to Abuja and met Isa Ahmed at the Human Rights Radio and Television. Isa Ahmed testified to the efficacy of our clients’ products and said all the people he gave the products to also testified that the products are very good and effective.

That Isa Ahmed told our clients that he is going to partner with our client and that he will be promoting our clients’ business and products using his platform, Berekete Family Radio, having certified that the products are effective and the company is in compliance with all the laws regulating the production of the products.

That Isa Ahmed, however, demanded that he will also be in charge of stocks/products and also demanded 50% of the proceeds of the business from our clients, but our clients did not concede.

That after a very long talk with our clients over the issue of the percentage, our clients later conceded to give him 30% of the proceeds of the business, and he accepted. Our clients thereafter maintained a good, cordial, and undisrupted relationship with him from 2019 to 2022 without any hitch.

That sometimes in 2022, Isa Ahmed called our clients and demanded that our clients should jack up the 30% they had agreed on to 50% and that our clients should also make him one of the directors of the company, a demand our clients refused to concede to outrightly, and he started threatening to destroy our clients’ business. Meanwhile, Isa Ahmed and you (Barr. Uche Uwazuluonye) had requested that our clients should give you the company’s documents to open a bank account where proceeds generated from the sales will be paid in and 30% will be taken from, which our clients did, not knowing that the documents were requested for with an undisclosed intention.

That to our clients’ chagrin and dismay, Isa Ahmed went on air using his platform, broadcasting that he has chased our clients away because their products are no longer working and people should stop patronizing our clients’ products just to injure and sabotage our clients’ business.

Our clients did not allow his conduct to distract their business; however, to the greatest surprise and dismay of our clients, sometimes in September 2024, our clients were served with a letter from Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) that our clients owe a tax of about N2,000,000,000.00 (Two Billion Naira) on the ground that over N50,000,000,000.00. (Fifty Billion Naira) has passed through our clients’ accounts with Guaranty Trust Bank, which Isa Ahmed handed to you to manage.

That our clients requested time to investigate this allegation, and our clients discovered that it was the bank accounts opened by you and the said Isa Ahmed at Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB) with our clients’ company’s name and documents, which he instructed you to manage as the only signatory to the said account. Meaning you and the said Isa Ahmed were not disclosing to our clients’ monies that were going into and out of the accounts.

Our clients tried to resolve the issue with Isa Ahmed and you (Barr. Uche Uwazuluonye) to no avail and therefore had no option but to contact Talatu Uwa Ebune (Nana Pharmacy), who introduced Isa Ahmed to him and reported to her what has been happening between Isa Ahmed and our clients, wherein she asked Isa Ahmed to take steps to resolve all issues with our clients and to give accounts of all the monies generated for our clients’ business as contained in the following bank accounts:

Account Name: Ruzu Herbal Products and Services Ltd.

0482756836 Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB)

0482756843 Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB)

0482756850 Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB)

0482756867 Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB) A

That instead of Isa Ahmed working with the advice of Talatu Uwa Ebune (Nana Pharmacy), he went on air again using his platform, Berekete Family Radio, to further injure our clients’ business, claiming that our clients’ products are no longer effective, causing injuries to our clients’ business out of malice for no just cause.

Our clients have also demanded several times from you to give them statements of account from the aforestated accounts under your control, the last of which was a letter written to you dated 13/12/2024 by our clients, but you have ignored and/or blatantly refused to give the said statements of accounts to our clients.

Pursuant to the above, we demand that you and Isa Ahmed give accounts of all the monies that passed through those bank accounts at Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB) and any other bank you used our clients documents to open an account, pay the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) the sum of N2,000,000,000.00 (Two Billion Naira), and any other monies demanded by FIRS as tax.

Finally, we have our clients’ instruction to demand, and we so demand that you submit to our clients all the bank statements as requested via their letter dated 13/12/2024 forthwith.

Where you fail to comply with this letter within 14 days, we shall be left with no option but to commence appropriate legal proceedings against you without any further notice.

A stitch in time saves nine.

Yours Faithfully,

Stakeholders Forum: Lagos State Govt. Recounts Tenable Achievements; Assures Inclusive and Participatory Governance to Build a Greater State in 2025

.....as media practitioners make input on areas of deficiencies needing the intervention of the Lagos state government.

By Onome Naomi

Lagos State Ministry of Information & Strategy during a Joint Citizens' Engagement Forum on Friday, January 24th, 2025, engaged media practitioners in a meaningful dialogue aimed at corroborating the government and the citizens in fostering a more inclusive, participatory, and people-oriented governance as affirmed by the governor of Lagos State, Dr. Babajide Sanwoolu.

At the event forum, highlights of achievements of Gov. Babajide Sanwoolu's administration in the last six years were enumerated, and this includes infrastructural developments, accessible and affordable transport services, ultra-modern health care facilities, low-cost housing, and improved educational systems; launching transformative projects like the Red Line Rail, expanding our Blue Line operations, and delivering groundbreaking initiatives in health, education, and youth empowerment.

However, the Lagos State Government, under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, recognizes the critical role that stakeholders’ engagements play in governance. Therefore, the government has made significant investments in the establishment of multiple platforms for communication with the public, including digital channels, traditional media, and direct community engagement. These platforms are designed to ensure that information about government policies, programs, and achievements is disseminated promptly and accurately.

In a speech delivered by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. Gbenga Omotoso, he gave full details about 2024 achievements in Lagos State and planification for 2025; it reads:

Road Projects

In 2024, we completed 36 road projects, including bridges, link bridges, and pedestrian infrastructure. We also have over 51 other road projects that are at various stages of development across all five divisions of the state.

These include Arowojobe Link Bridge and Approach Road, Mende, Maryland; Sand Zero Road, Oyingbo; Platinum Road; Igbokusu; Babafemi Dada Bridge and adjoining roads: Yinka Folarin, Jamiu Lawal, and Shalom Academy Road Network; Samuel Ekundayo Road; and Abaranje Road.

Others are Eluku Street/Mosafejo, Agbowa Ikosi, Adamo-Akanun-Agunfoye Lugbusi Roads, Oba Dosunmu Road, Ikeja GRA, Oduduwa Way and Oduduwa Crescent, Ikeja GRA, Sasegbon Street, Ikeja GRA, Alternative Route to Admiralty Circle Toll Plaza, Sobo Arobiodu Street, Ikeja GRA, and Lekki-Epe Expressway (Phase IIA and Phase IIB).

Land Transportation

Under the Bus Reform Initiative (BRI), Lagos State is developing new BRT bus terminals, with ongoing projects at various stages of completion. The detailed engineering design and construction of the Abule Egba Bus Terminal are progressing well.

Similarly, work on the Iyana Ipaja Bus Terminal is advancing, while the Ajah Bus Terminals & Depots, along with the Addo Road Junction Improvement and Pedestrian Bridge, are nearing completion.

Additionally, the construction of BRT infrastructure along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway is progressing, with the section from Doyin Orile to Mile 2 currently under development.

Rail Transportation

History was made last year with the completion and commissioning of the first phase of the 27-kilometer Red Line rail. This rail line, on which passenger operations commenced on October 15, 2024, is expected to serve 500,000 passengers per day.

This initial phase covers a 27-kilometer stretch from Agbado in Ogun State to Oyingbo in Lagos, with eight stations at key areas (Agbado, Iju, Agege, Ikeja, Oshodi, Mushin, Yaba, and Oyingbo), 4 vehicular overpasses, 3 pedestrian bridges, and integration with Ikeja, Oshodi, Yaba, and Oyingbo bus terminals, among other features.

Lagos State plans to connect the Red Line with the Blue Line, another part of the LRMT system. Work has also commenced on the second phase of the Blue Line, which will extend it from Mile 2 to Okokomaiko.

The government has also signed an MOU with the Federal Government’s Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI) to kickstart exploratory work on the development of the 68 km Green Line, which will connect Marina to the Lekki Free Trade Zone, along one of the fastest-growing industrial corridors on the continent.

Water Transportation

To improve water transportation, the Lagos Ferry Services (LAGFERRY) currently operates on 24 routes, utilizing 16 terminals/jetties and deploying 20 commercial boats.

Construction is at an advanced stage on 13 new jetties across the state, in addition to the upgrade works ongoing at existing jetties. In May 2024, we launched 15 new high-capacity ferries, fabricated and assembled in Lagos, and we intend to launch a second batch of 10 very soon, bringing the total number to 25.

Housing

On housing, through the Egan-Igando Mixed Housing Scheme in Igando-Ikotun LCDA, we delivered 270 housing units. This is a testament to our commitment to sustainable development and enhancing the well-being of Lagosians.

In Amuwo-Odofin, we commissioned the Rising Lagos Apartments and the LBIC/WGC Greater Lagos Flats, adding 204 units of 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom apartments. These projects, executed through a public-private partnership, not only increase the housing stock but also promote inclusivity and economic integration.

A historic milestone was also achieved in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA with the completion and commissioning of Raymond Estate and Sterling Heights under the Akanimodo Housing Scheme. These estates, offering 170 units of diverse housing types, represent the first residential developments independently delivered by a local government under a PPP model in Nigeria.

These initiatives go beyond housing—they embody progress, social equity, and the promise of a better future for all Lagosians. Through these efforts, we continue to transform lives and build a resilient and thriving state.

Health Care

As part of plans to offer the citizenry unhindered access to a quality health care system, the New Massey Street Children’s Hospital, on which construction started in 2021 and which will be the biggest pediatric facility in West Africa, is set for completion in 2025.

The construction of a 280-bed general hospital in Ojo and a psychiatric hospital in Ketu Ejinrin are also well underway. Infrastructure upgrades at Ibeju Lekki General Hospital and Lagos General Hospital are also progressing steadily.

Improved Education

To improve education, we have completed the construction of new classroom blocks at various schools across the state, including in Alimosho, Ojodu, Apapa, and Ojo, while construction is ongoing at schools in Apapa, Ajah, Itire, Mushin, Agege, and other areas.

Hon. Omotoso noted that this year, 2025, the vision of the Lagos state government remains clear, which is to build a Greater Lagos that works for all. Focus will be laid on sustainable infrastructure, driving economic growth, and deepening community impact through innovative programs.

It is envisioned that Greater Lagos will emerge on the back of high-quality infrastructure that keeps pace with population growth. The focus is, therefore, to ensure the durability, functionality, and adaptability of physical assets to meet the ever-growing demands of the people.

Omotoso stated that in 2025, the Lagos government will prioritize the maintenance, upgrade, and expansion of existing road networks, bridges, rail systems, and drainage infrastructure to enhance mobility and mitigate the impact of climate change.

In line with the vision for a truly 21st-century megacity, the Lagos state government will continue programs aimed at enhancing digital infrastructure; over-reliance on any single sector will be reduced. Hence, focus will also be on the development of non-oil sectors such as technology, agribusiness, manufacturing, creative industries, entertainment, and tourism.

Through the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) and other initiatives, Sanwoolu's administration will support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with financing, training, and market linkages. This strategy will not only create jobs but also enhance local production, thereby reducing dependency on imports, strengthening supply chains, and enriching our local communities.

Focus will also be on tourism development; using the rich culture and historical landmarks will boost revenues, attract foreign exchange, and position Lagos as a truly competitive global destination. 2025 will witness a noticeable expansion in access to quality education and healthcare. We shall achieve this by constructing more facilities, equipping them, and hiring and motivating qualified personnel, he said.

Furthermore, there will be targeted programs to address the needs of vulnerable groups, including women, children, and persons living with disabilities, providing a safety net for the most disadvantaged in our society.

The core goals of 2025 are also to sustain policies and programs aimed at environmental regeneration. As a coastal state, Lagos is uniquely vulnerable to the effects of climate change. Therefore, there will be continuity to implement initiatives such as the Lagos State Climate Adaptation Resilience Plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote renewable energy.

The waste-to-wealth initiatives will not only create jobs but also ensure a cleaner environment. Additionally, the implementation of tree-planting campaigns and investing in flood management infrastructure will be created to protect lives and properties.

In 2025, the Lagos government will sustain the leveraging of technology to improve the efficiency of our operations through e-governance systems. The continued reform of revenue collection systems will eliminate leakages, ensuring that every naira is used for the benefit of the people.

Additionally, citizen engagement will deepen through town hall meetings and other feedback channels, ensuring that government remains responsive and accountable to the people.

In the education sector, the Lagos government hopes to sustain focus on creating specialized learning spaces to create a solid foundation for the educational advancement of our young people. In doing this, our long-term goal is to ensure that every child has access to modern and well-equipped facilities conducive to academic excellence.

Under watch, Lagos State has gone from one state-owned university to three, with the establishment of the Lagos State University of Education and the Lagos State University of Science and Technology.

This year, more significant resources will be invested into ensuring that these universities operate as centers of educational excellence, building the next generation of professionals who will take Lagos State to the next level.

Youth empowerment initiatives through programs like Lagos Innovates under LSETF will be sustained, and the Lagos State Employability Support Project, young entrepreneurs receive funding, training, and microcredit support to scale their ideas into viable businesses. Initiatives like the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy and international leadership training programs will continue to underscore our commitment to grooming future leaders.

On food security, the Lagos government will continue to empower farmers and drive economic growth through initiatives such as our Agri-Innovation Clubs, Agrithon Grants, Youth Homestead Farming projects across 57 LCDAs, Agricultural Scholars Programme, the Lagos Agripreneurship Programme (L.A.P.), Lagos Butchers Academy, Eko Fresh, Cattle Feedlot Project, and our Discount Food Markets.

Invest more in bolstering our position as Africa’s tech hub and startup capital. As one of only two African cities ranked in the Global 100 Cities for vibrant startup ecosystems, we will continue to sustain our investment in this sector.

This year, the government is focused on making significant progress in revitalizing cultural, religious, and recreational infrastructure across the state. Therefore, we will sustain efforts to restore the historic Elemoro Palace in Ibeju-Lekki and the Princess Erelu Kuti Tomb, commemorating one of Lagos’ most prominent historical figures.

Through these projects, the Lagos government hopes to sustain dedication to preserving the State’s history, promoting the creative arts, and enhancing tourism as a driver of economic growth and community development.

In the commitment to safeguarding lives and maintaining order, the enforcement of safety and environmental laws will intensify. This is to ensure that previously lighted areas characterized by illegal trading and environmental infractions are transformed into serene and secure spaces for recreation and leisure.

More key locations across the state will be landscaped and beautified to create vibrant spaces for sports, relaxation, and community engagement.

The progress of a megacity like ours depends on the collaboration between the public and private sectors. To this end, we will remain committed to leveraging public-private partnerships to deliver infrastructure, enhance social services, and turn challenges into opportunities despite limited resources.

Appreciates the organized private sector for consistently answering the call for collaboration and demonstrating exceptional civic responsibility. The private sector remains a key driver of our shared progress.

On a final note, Hon. Omotoso stated that the future of Lagos is bold, inclusive, and limitless. Lagos is not just a city; it is an energy, a movement, and a promise. Says in 2025, the government will continue to lead, inspire, and deliver on the trust the citizens have placed in the government as he officially opens engagement for media practitioners in attendance to present opinions and concerning factors, which were met with reassurances on improvement and a better strategy.

Educate Your Operatives on Proper Conduct - Iche Urge EFCC

........Opine on the 2025 Budget Presentation and Its Imbroglio

By Onome Naomi

Following recent reports of misconduct from EFCC operatives leading to the death of one of its men, Comrade Prince Saviour Iche opined that EFCC, which stands for Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, is an anti-corruption agency in Nigeria that enforces laws related to economic and financial crimes and has recorded a series of misconduct by operatives from public complaints in recent times, urging President Tinubu's government to order an overhaul of the agency.

Iche said;

During an operation, it is unwise to barge in on people's private properties without notifying the owners; the search carried out in the house of suspected persons should be done modestly. As an EFCC operative, it is important to display a search warrant or an arrest warrant before a suspect is whisked away, just like it is done when a police officer approaches a suspect from their various houses.

The unjust arrest of youths while some government officials prey on immunity to keep looting public funds shows how weak the EFCC system has become. The Okoya sons, who displayed an abuse of naira in a viral video, were swept under the carpet in the guise of immunity, but the police officer who was seen helping to hold the naira bundles was apprehended and may be punished according to the law. My question is, does the Nigerian law only apply to the poor?

The hunt for fraudsters should start with those at the senate seat; the misdirection leading to barging into people's houses, breaking their doors, and appearing at odd hours of the day is cowardice compared to how a government official would be arrested if found on the EFCC list for an arrest and questioning. The oppression meted out on the poor masses by the EFCC is a call for concern and should be stopped.

The EFCC chairman has to reshuffle and retrain the agency's operatives. The government should do away with dictating EFCC's affairs and allow the agency to do a thorough investigation on money launderers in the government without restrictions so that corruption can be checked instead of hunting more for young boys suspected to be fraudsters (yahoo boys) and barging into people's houses unannounced.

I opine that the EFCC should also focus on the following:

*That in 2024, JAMB budgeted over N800,000,000 on mosquitoes, an obvious corruptive way to embezzle funds, the current registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, should be questioned.

*There is so much money allocated for road renovations; meanwhile, we see nothing. The roads are still bad, and all they do is create a big budget but divert funds while the problem remains; this should be checked.

*Our health sector is bad and drastically deteriorating, and there is an allocated budget for it yearly. Our leaders don't get treated in these hospitals with claims that they are not standard enough. I haven't heard that former American President Joe Biden travelled to India to get his health checked; the health minister should be questioned.

*INEC gets budget allocations every four years but claims their budget is too small; INEC Chairman should be on the watch list.

*In our science and technology schools and universities, we see no equipment for practicals. Minister of Education, what's happening?

Comrade Iche stated that the government needs to monitor the usage of budget allocations to ensure accountability. Any allocation unutilized for its purpose should be questioned and culprits brought to book. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should erase party immunity so that those who have committed and, as a result, migrated to the party that gives immunity will be disappointed, for immunity has ceased to exist, he added.

State of the Nation: Why FGN should open borders for influx of staple foods - Iche

By Onome Naomi

The Nigerian borders have since the era of former president Muhammadu Buhari been ordered to close to prevent the smuggling of contraband and to avoid other concerning situations, mostly that Nigeria should be a producing state more than a consuming nation. The federal government gave grants to the agricultural sector, especially rice farmers, to cultivate rice enough to meet the demands of the citizens but was cut short due to the farmers and herders crisis. Farmers are forced out of their farms for fear of being invaded and killed by herdsmen.

Recently, Comrade Prince Saviour Iche, who carried out a survey of the Seme Badagry area, recounted his ordeal with customs officials, stating that his usual charitable gesture of giving to the less privileged during the year had led him to seek a market survey of food items in a bid to ascertain why there is a consistent increase in food items. He said a bag of rice, which goes for N120,000 in Lagos and some other areas of the country, was sold at N70,000 in Badagry, while at Cotonu it is sold at N50,000.

Iche stated further that

While returning from Seme, where he got a bag of rice at N70,000, it was found that a bag of rice in Lagos has skyrocketed due to the exchange rate, increased transport fare, and customs interference. N1000 is now equal to 2600 CFA, while the former exchange rate is N1000 to 300 CFA; meanwhile, rice and other essential commodities for day-to-day consumption remain contraband.

More so, customs authorities challenged the single bag of rice being transported from Seme to the Iyana-Oba area of Lagos State. I began to explain that the food items seized are meant for the less privileged since it's easier to get more of the items at cheaper prices in Seme to cater to a considerable amount of people in need.

After much conversation recounting the reason behind the purchase, my words were met with defiance as they insisted they were simply carrying out an order from above. It is noteworthy that uniformed personnel carry out instructions that are binding, but the federal government should give exceptions if they are insistent on border closure.

What the farmers produce in Nigeria cannot sustain the number of masses in demand, hence the hike on these essential commodities leading to hardship. Many families now do 0-01 or 0-1-0 or 1-0-0; an imminent starvation due to scarce resources to meet the demands of the citizens for sustenance. We also borrow money from international governments and organizations just for the sake of consumption instead of investing in production companies. It will only get worse if we continue this way.

The Buhari administration initiated the closing of borders to enable Nigerians to produce what they eat, and it's not a bad idea; however, the initiative would have been given time to succeed before imposing border closure. Rice goes through a period of cultivation before harvest; moreover, not many people are available for farming due to insecurity.

As Africans, we are enemies of ourselves. During the survey to seme, another interesting piece of information found is crucial to address. As a road user, it is impossible to drive to the nearest country in Africa through the borders without paying exorbitantly for some documentation. African governments are not helping the citizens of Africa at all if we can't intertrade or interrelate without costing a fortune.

Iche stated that miscalculation has led Nigeria into a critical state of inflation; it is expected that Tinubu's administration will consider opening the borders to drop the hike in food items until we can produce enough to cater for the masses. Also mentioned is that the N70,000 minimum wage for workers has not been rendered by some governors; those who are paid N70,000 as minimum wage still cannot cater to their immediate families due to the hike in food items.

The government should lift the ban on importation; make farming attractive to the masses, including the youths; make the Bank of Agriculture ease up on stringent rules to get a loan or grant, for many are discouraged when asked to bring some certain documentation before funding can be given; protect farmers from herdsmen invasion; and make funding and security of farmers a major concern, Iche added.

By Onome Naomi

A comprehensive analysis on the Nwokedi family shows that the origin of their prominence emanated from late Eze Alphonsus Nwokedi, the Eze Okpoko 1 of Okpoko Ogbaru LGA, Anambra State. The 'Okpoko' community was named after the late king Eze Alphonsus due to his bearing and the development he brought into an unnamed area later called Okpoko community.

The comprehensive profile of the late king, Eze Alphonsus Onyebueke Utosu Nwokedi; Eze Okpoko 1 of Okpoko, Ogbaru, Local Government Area, Anambra State, shows that his astute leadership transcended into versatility before his death as he passes on the kingship mantle unto his 10th child, Eze Chika Nwokedi, amongst his 11 children, home and abroad.

Late Eze Alphonsus' profile reads:

His Royal Highness, EZE ALPHONSUS ONYEBUEKE UTOSU NWOKEDI (aka Ogaranya, Okponku, Government, Atakata Agbuo, Mperekete Mpeke, Thanker, Thanker Aluo), was the great founder of the Okpoko community, currently called New Haven, a satellite town in the Ogbara local government area of Anambra state.

Eze A. O. U. N. Nwokedi had built a house at No. W. 15, Atani Road (now called No. 203, Obodoukwu Road), Okpoko, and settled there with his family for many years before the civil war properly broke out in 1967 and ended in 1970.

As the early settler in Okpoko, Eze A. O. U. N. N. Nwokedi, Eze Okpoko 1 of Okpoko, secured the leadership and rulership of the Okpoko community and became its royal father as Eze Okpoko 1 of Okpoko. He was instrumental as he initiated the fight against armed robbery attacks of residents of his community, especially those returning home after the day's business through a track road called 'No Man's Land' by Owarananya Azu Drainage, which was in those days the only source of good drinking water.

Eze A. O. U. Nwokedi was the first councilor of the Okpoko community; he assisted the Catholic and Anglican churches in securing some lands to establish churches, hence the building of St. Lwanga's Catholic Church and St. Luke's Anglican Church in Okpoko.

As the founder of the Okpoko community, he (Eze A. O. U. N. Nwokedi) had the collaboration of some important Obosi families and individuals, such as late Godwin Onyire (Akunne), late NWAKWOR of the Umuabua family, Ire family, and others...

He mapped out and allocated lands for the first primary schools, known as school 1 and school 2, in Okpoko. This was during the administration of Col. Anthony Ochefu, in the old Anambra State. He got the approval to establish a police station at Okpoko, purely to fight armed robbery attacks that were then ravaging the Okpoko community and its environs. Before the establishment of the police station, Eze Nwokedi was the local judge for all cases and disputes in his palace at No. W. 15, Atani Road (now Obodoukwu Road), Okpoko. All government officials specified for a particular outreach were directed to him for accommodation, direction, and security.

To foster unity in the community, Eze Okpoko founded the first Udo Dili Multi-purpose Co-operative Society in Okpoko. He also formed the Landlords Union when the community started expanding rapidly. He established security guards initially funded by him to protect lives and property of the inhabitants within the Okpoko community.

Eze Nwokedi was an institution in the Okpoko Community; to achieve recognizable feats by rulership didn't come easy for him, for he had an opposition, namely Chief Ede of Obosi, a renowned Obosi man who vehemently opposed all of Eze Nwokedi's moves for Okpoko to be established as a community. To firmly establish himself and his vision for Okpoko Community, Eze Nwokedi arranged with the then government in Enugu during Chief Ukpabi Asika's administration for the first survey of Okpoko Layout. This survey ratified Okpoko as a layout in the then Onitsha Urban Council. That was when Okpoko community became Okpoko Layout.

On the welfare of residents of Okpoko community, Eze Okpoko 1, Eze A. O. U. Nwokedi, established the first maternity home, known as Ifeoma Homoeopathic Home. The maternity home created ease for pregnant women in the community and also enhanced safety. These pregnant women during delivery do not necessarily have to go through an empty passageway named 'no man's land,' which was in-between Okpoko Layout and Fegge Layout if midnight labor occurs.

Families who could not afford maternity bills after child delivery were discharged free of charge but at Eze Alphonsus' expense.

Eze A. O. U. Nwokedi was a great philanthropist, an excellent community leader, a great achiever, and a strong and pioneering member of the Obodoukwu Town Union. A sociable, kind, and friendly person; many didn't know he was a king due to his humble demeanor; he sees everyone as equals; he was very accommodating too, a peacemaker and judge. His cabinet members included Late Chief Joseph Aniche, Late Ogbudike, Late Daniel Awalite, Late Marcell Onyejekwe, Late Emesinwa, Late Ukachi, Late Ezeala, and Late Umenwekwe, to mention but a few.

The feat late EZE A. OU. NWOKEDI The Eze Okpoko I of Okpoko achieved in Okpoko Community earned him the nickname 'Government,' as it is fondly called.

He was married to Lolo Mercy Akuba Nwokedi and blessed with 11 children, and they are:

Lolo Anthonia Uzoamaka Osondu (nee Nwokedi, retired banker;Senior Evang. Anthony V. O. Nwokedi (CEO Anovin Chemical Industries Ltd., Aco Block Industry Ltd., Anovin Commercial Agencies W. A. Ltd., AL-AKUBA STORES, ABUJA);John Nwokedi (Omenife gburugburu 1 of Obodoukwu, based in Europe);Mrs. Ngozi Justina (retired clerk at NASS);Mrs. Ifeoma Pepetua Anaezionwu (nee Nwokedi);Chief Moses Nwokedi (Ezeudo, businessman);Mrs. Ekwu Bridget Thejirika (nee Nwokedi, caterer);Chief Alphonsus Uchenna Nwokedi (Onowu Pegi, Kuje Area Council, F. C.T Abuja, businessman);Toochukwu Thedeus Nwokedi (Business) man, late);HRH Eze C. C. Nwokedi, The Eze Okpoko I of Ijegun Ijedodo Community, Lagos State; Michael Nwadinigwe Nwokedi (Businessman, Abuja).

This great founder and achiever, His Royal Highness, Eze A. O. U Nwokedi, Eze Okpoko 1 of Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, died in the early hours of the 29th day of July, 1981.

According to his 10th child, who bears the mantle of Kingship, HRH Eze Chika Nwokedi Ezendigbo Ijegun Ijeododo, Chairman of the Council of Ndieze Igbo Lagos, he noted that the honor for a posthumous award granted by the Obodoukwu community to his late father, Eze Alphonsus Onyebueke Utosu Nwokedi, brings to light the similarity in the services he renders in this dispensation as Eze of his community (Ijegun Ijeododo).

Eze Chika further stated that he is mandated to continue from where his late father had stopped, having achieved the same grace bestowed by his father through inspiration to give charity as well as bear the burdens of the people under his reign.

Eze Chika is the Okpoko 1 of the Obodoukwu community after the death of his father and must continue in his father's legacy to lead the people using the exacting methods used by his late father. In his hometown in Obodoukwu, Eze Chika Nwokedi gave shelter to the homeless by building houses as he also gives alms to less privileged persons, including the widows and widowers.

Eze Dr. (Amb.) Chika C. Nwokedi Eze Okpoko 1 and Okpoko 1 of Obodoukwu, founder President of the Ndi Igbo Buru Otu Association of Nigeria, and former President of Ladipo Market, Mushin, Lagos, Chairman of the Council of Ndi Eze Igbo, Lagos State, the son of the late HRH Igwe A.O.U. Nwokedi Eze Okpoko 1 of Okpoko, heartily remembered his dear parents, HRH Eze Alphonsus Nwokedi and Lolo Mercy Akuba Nwokedi, on the occasion of the Maiden Umeonyiriegbe Day Celebration, where he was awarded for his immense contribution in carrying on his late father's legacy by developing Obodoukwu; his late father was also granted a posthumous award.

KnoRights, Stakeholders of Aboru, Akinola, Aringbala Commend Gov. Sanwo-Olu, SSG Abimbola Hundenyin Over Removal of the Dilapidated Ige Bridge

....solicits alternative routes while reconstruction of Ige Bridge is ongoing.

By Onome Naomi

In furtherance of a letter dated 17th of September 2024, the committee on Canal Dredging of Residents of Abule Oki, Akinola, and Aboru stakeholders, led by Alhaji Kamorudeen Alade Bamidele, under the able leadership of His High Chief Adebayo Oki, the Baale of Oki Kingdom, Iyana Ipaja, and the Board of Trustees of Know Your Rights for Justice, wishes to express their appreciation and profound gratitude to Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Olushola Sanwo Olu for being an impregnable fighter for the less privileged. His endeavors for Lagosians living along the path of Abule Oki Onajola, Akinola Raji Rasaki, Alabede, Aboru, and others to remove the dilapidated ige bridge, which has become a death trap to motorists and passersby, following the January 16th, 2025 mandate is applaudable.

The aforementioned stakeholders and Human Rights Group 'KnoRights' chaperoned by Comrade Olusegun Adeeko wish to commend the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olushola Sanwo Olu, for the provision of good governance to the inhabitants of the aforementioned communities. This simply shows he wishes comfort and stability for residents of Lagos State: "staying with the people, knowing their pains, abolishing their poverty, and providing solutions to their problems.".

The Aboru community applauds Gov. Sanwo-Olu's listening ears to their plights since 2019, when he assumed office as Governor of Lagos State. During this period, the people of the Aboru community have suffered flooding due to blocked canals, dilapidated bridges used as passageways, and construction projects abandoned; the interference of the Lagos state government has brought succor to the Aboru residents as the projects were accomplished one after the other, remaining but a few completions.

These various projects from 2019 in the Aboru community suffered some setbacks due to the lackadaisical attitude implored by the contractors even after government officers and assembly members' visitation on the projects for record purposes. The intervention and strict adherence of the Lagos State government, who upon hearing the situation stepped in to ensure consistency, led to the completion of the various projects.

It is commendable that the secretary of the Lagos state government, Mrs. Abimbola Hundenyin, treated the various matters arising in the development and safety of Aboru residents with kid gloves by ensuring her principal create solutions to the predicaments befalling the Aboru community.

It should be noted that the contractors awarded with the removal of Ige Bridge, Truerete Solutions Limited, hurriedly did a rickety construction of the Abule Oki segment from the confluence of Fury to Ige Bridge, which was supposed to bring relief to the communities but had turned awry with an increased flooding. The timely intervention of the secretary to the Lagos State Government (Mrs. Abimbola Hundevin) and the Commissioner of Environment led the Lagos State Government to revisit the construction.

On the 27th of February 2024, the government listened to the yearning of the inhabitants by demolishing the dilapidated Jimoh Bridge, giving way to the 70-meter expansion of the canal dredging and concrete lining from the confluence of Fury to Ige Bridge.

Moreover, the intention to remove Ige Bridge by the Lagos State Government had livened residents as they witnessed the erecting of a signboard by the state commissioner for the environment with the inscription "Road Closed from January 16th, 2025, to March 2025. Kindly make use of alternative routes." The problem there lies in the nonavailability of alternative routes.

The community would like to suggest a few considerations as follows:

*The road should be constructed from the bridge on Jimoh Street to link Raji Rasaki Junction, which will serve as an alternative access route for motorists and pedestrians. This will lead to the Alagbede junction route to the Aboru axis, which will serve as an alternative access route to the Akinola axis.

* The aforementioned leaders believe in the expansion of the road from Jimoh Bridge to Jimoh Street to Abayomi Street Junction to link Oki Major Road, which will serve as an access route from the bridge to Iyana Ipaja Expressway and Akinola Axis.

The construction of the Limon Bridge to Jimon Street to the Abayomi Street junction to link Oki Major Road and the Lyana Ipaja Expressway to the Akinola Axis will consume some houses illegally built without following Lagos State town planning, which should be demolished to give way for the accessibility of Jimoh Bridge.

It is interesting to note that the communities have signed an M.O.U. that states as follows:

"We wish to bring it to the notice of the Honourable Commissioner that all cornered communities have agreed that all impediments along the path of project execution should be cleared solely in line with the dictates of the state government.".

"We are appealing to our able, indefatigable governor to implement our suggestion on the accessibility of the newly constructed Jimoh Bridge as stated above."

In view of the above, KnRights and the aforementioned stakeholders want the government to ensure that the contractor keeps to his promises that by January 16, 2025, Ige Bridge demolition will commence and be completed on March 16, 2025, as well as the accessibility of the Jimoh Bridge.

PoliticsThe Melancholy Of Creation Of Dioceses In The Church Of Nigeria - Anglican Commu by onochurch(op): 11:11am On Jan 10, 2025
The Melancholy of Creation of Dioceses in the Church of Nigeria - Anglican Communion

By Naomisophyblog

Having been created in the image of God, grants humans authority and power over creation, highlighting the significance of humanity's divine nature. However, when people disconnect from their sacredness, they become vulnerable to disasters and moral decay.

The loss of sacredness leads to unimaginable heinous acts currently attendant in our communities and not excluding corrupt practices. The deadly sins of greed, gluttony, and lust are matters of great concern, drawing parallels between contemporary church leaders and the corrupt sons of Eli - Hophni and Phinehas - who abused their priestly authority for personal gain.

Sacred Institution for Sale
The Church of Nigeria may soon be grappling with a troubling trend in certain dioceses of the Church where critical decisions in such dioceses are driven by personal interests, materialistic consideration and socio-political agenda rather than advancing the Gospel. This phenomenon will yield to far-reaching consequences eroding the Church’s integrity and spiritual authority. The current exercise of processing bids for creation of New Dioceses comes into mind, judging from some scandalous development in certain dioceses. This commodification has serious consequences:

Political Power Play: New dioceses should not be established for political reasons, and thus undermining their spiritual purpose.

Lack of Transparency and Accountability: The processes should not be opaque. Otherwise, that may lead to allegations of corruption and favoritism.

Erosion of Trust and Integrity: The focus on materialistic considerations and personal gain damages the Church's integrity and erodes trust among members.

Damage to Reputation: The Church's moral authority becomes compromised when reputation is damaged and hinders its spiritual mission and growth.

Way Forward
Several solutions may be proposed to address these issues:

Transparency and Accountability: The guidelines and stipulations for creating new dioceses as enunciated by the Church of Nigeria should be faithfully obeyed.

Spiritual Imperatives: Ensure that diocesan creation is driven by spiritual and worthy deliberations rather than financial or political motives, or other mundane considerations.

Reform and Renewal: The Church must focus on maintaining its integrity and moral authority, and institute a process of Reform and Renewal aimed at restoring such integrity in certain renegade dioceses.

Words of Caution
Decisive action is required to combat the commodification of sacred institutions. This necessitates a commitment to transparency, accountability, and adherence to spiritual imperatives in the quest for creation of new dioceses. The layers of authority in the Church of Nigeria should make haste to superintend over certain actions being undertaken in a particular diocese in relation to the exercise.

Reflective Questions
Members of the Church are urged to reflect on some recent actions in light of biblical teachings:

* Is the recent "Turning of the Sod" in Ukpo consistent with the letters and spirit of resolutions made during the General Synod of Church of Nigeria on this subject?

*Were financial exchanges involved in this decision?

*Has due process been observed by the particular Archbishop/Bishop on this matter? What is emanating is a disgusting betrayal of everything Christianity stands for in such dioceses.

*Are we engaging in a "cash and carry" approach to serving God?

*If we criticize Hophni and Phinehas, yet we replicate their sins; what is our standing before God?

*Are we genuinely demonstrating faith in God, or merely deceiving ourselves and our congregations?

The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) leadership is urged to nip in the bud the dangers of prioritizing materialistic engagements, personal interests and political agenda over spiritual imperatives in the creation of new dioceses.

The Church of Nigeria must take decisive action. It is necessary to embrace transparency, accountability and adherence to spiritual imperatives to restore the Church's integrity and moral authority.

PoliticsSir Mike Okiro And The Leadership Of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide - Chioma Adeoye's by onochurch(op): 10:16pm On Jan 09, 2025
Sir Mike Okiro and the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide - Chioma Adeoye's Analysis

By Naomisophyblog

In Chioma Adeoye's analysis, she noted that one important organization that acts as the umbrella group for the Igbo people is Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide. She says it is crucial in promoting the Igbo nation's sociopolitical and economic interests both domestically in Nigeria and internationally. The question of who is most qualified to guide the company into the future emerges as it keeps expanding.

Chioma's further analysis states that:

One candidate who is frequently brought up is Sir Mike Okiro, a well-known and esteemed figure in Nigeria. Okiro has a long history in law enforcement and leadership, having served as the Chairman of the Police Service Commission and as an Inspector General of Police (IGP). It is still unclear if his qualifications will enable him to lead Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide effectively in his role as president general. I am certain that we are in capable hands after seeing his performance on Njenje Media the other day and observing the thoughtful responses he provided to queries.

Exploring further Chioma described Okiro's
leadership experience as 'notable,' she said
Sir Mike Okiro has a wealth of leadership experience, most notably in his tenure as Nigeria's Inspector General of Police (IGP) from 2007 to 2009. This role placed him at the helm of one of the most critical institutions in the country, and his work was instrumental in shaping Nigeria's police force during a particularly turbulent period. His leadership in ensuring law and order, as well as his commitment to reforming the police system, demonstrates his capability to manage large organizations under pressure.

In addition to his law enforcement career, Okiro also served as the chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), which further underscores his deep understanding of public administration, governance, and human resource management. These roles required balancing political interests, public safety, and operational efficiency—a skill set that could serve him well as President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

It's worthy to note that Rivers State, which Okiro hails from, celebrated him as an exemplary son while he served as both IGP and Chairman of PSC. It's therefore laughable that a few selfish persons from the Ikwerre ethnic group (30% of the population of Rivers State) will query Okiro’s origin, undermining the entire Rivers people.

Okiro’s leadership experience provides a solid foundation for a role that requires managing diverse opinions, representing the Igbo community on national and international platforms, and navigating complex political terrains.

Key qualities of an effective president general, as analyzed by Chioma, involve that the president general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo must possess:

*Diplomacy and Negotiation Skills: The ability to navigate complex political relationships is crucial for representing the Igbo people. Okiro's career in law enforcement, where he often had to mediate between different factions, could make him adept at managing conflicts and finding common ground among various groups within the Igbo community.

*Vision for the Future: Ohanaeze Ndigbo needs a leader with a clear vision for the future of the Igbo people, both in Nigeria and globally. Okiro’s extensive leadership experience suggests he has the strategic thinking required to craft policies and initiatives that can address the needs of the Igbo community.

* Integrity and Accountability: The President General must be someone who commands respect and can be trusted with the responsibility of advocating for Igbo interests. Okiro’s reputation for integrity, especially during his tenure as IGP, will help him garner the confidence of those within Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

*Ability to Unite Diverse Factions: The Igbo community, both in Nigeria and abroad, is highly diverse. A strong president general must be able to unify these factions for a common cause. Okiro's ability to manage different perspectives in his previous leadership roles could translate into success in this area.

Okiro’s impact on the Igbo community lies in his reputation for service to the nation, which certainly positions him as someone who understands the importance of community and national development. His leadership in the police force and other national institutions speaks to a broader understanding of national issues that affect the Igbo people.

Although Sir Mike Okiro is not primarily known for his involvement in the political leadership of the Igbo community, Okiro has a strong network within Nigerian politics and public service, which could be leveraged to bring attention and resources to the Igbo community. His knowledge of governance could serve to advance the Igbo cause, not only in Nigeria but also globally, where the diaspora plays a significant role in economic and political affairs.

Challenges and Criticisms

While Sir Mike Okiro brings a wealth of experience to the table, there are certain challenges he may face in assuming the role of President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

*Political Perception: Okiro’s tenure as IGP may be seen by some people as too closely tied to the federal government, which could raise concerns among certain factions of the Igbo community about his independence. His ability to navigate any perceived political bias will be crucial.

*Generational Divide: Like many traditional organizations, Ohanaeze Ndigbo encompasses a wide range of age groups, from the older, more traditional leaders to younger, more progressive voices. Okiro will need to bridge this divide effectively to maintain unity and ensure the relevance of the organization in modern political discourse.

In conclusion, Sir Mike Okiro’s vast leadership experience, integrity, and strategic vision for Nigeria make him a compelling candidate for the role of President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide. While challenges such as political perception and generational divides exist, Okiro’s background suggests he has the skills to navigate these hurdles.

Ultimately, his success as President General would depend on his ability to unite the Igbo community, both at home and in the diaspora, and to advance the socio-political interests of the people. Given his record of service and leadership, Okiro has the potential to be a strong and effective President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, provided he can engage with both the leadership and grassroots sectors of the Igbo community.

A vote for Sir Mike Okiro will be a vote in the right direction.

PoliticsWhy Nnpc's Rehabilitation Of Refineries Across The Nation Seem Like A Charade—c by onochurch(op):
Why NNPC's rehabilitation of refineries across the nation seem like a charade—Comrade Prince Saviour Iche

By Onome Naomi

Following the December 30th, 2024, announcement by Mele Kyari that the Warri refinery is ready for production of petroleum products and other refineries across the country are in rehabilitation, Comrade Prince Saviour Iche, President Ambassador of Peace Foundation 'AMPEF' (Voice of the Voiceless), is saying Nigerians will only believe the refineries are in rehabilitation/functional when the results are evident.

Meanwhile, the executive chairman of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, Mele Kyari, who visited the facility, has revealed that the Warri Refining & Petrochemicals Company (WRPC), with a capacity of 125,000 barrels per day, has resumed operations at 60 percent capacity in Warri, Delta State.

Iche claims that previously, the chairman of the NNPCL group has announced similar progress, raising false hopes that some refineries are ready for operation. It is advisable that Nigerians wait to see the evidence by NNPC, which has bred falsehood consistently.

He further said,

"Nigerians should not rejoice yet, as they (NNPC) said the same thing a countless number of times, which all turned out to be propaganda. Nigerians shouldn't take them seriously, especially under this administration."

"NNPC has turned out to be a thorn in the flesh of Nigerians; they have made so many billions from Nigerians in revenue and spent billions also on the rehabilitation of refineries, yet there is nothing to show for it."

"NNPC claims rehabilitation of refineries every year, yet we see nothing; Nigerians should be able to get fuel at a cheaper price if the refineries are functional as they say and should take effect in no time. Their workings should reflect on the price of petroleum products."

Comrade Prince Saviour, in reference, mentioned that former president Olusegun Obasanjo doubted NNPC's claim of the operational readiness of the Warri refinery due to antecedents. He said Nigerians need a transparent government; also, the Dangote refinery has no impact on Nigerians unless petroleum products are brought down.

In a statement released on Thursday, December 2nd, 2025, Olufemi Soneye, NNPCL’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, clarified that the rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries was not the typical Turnaround Maintenance (TAM) that has been carried out in the past.

Soneye stressed that this rehabilitation is a complete overhaul of the refineries, with the goal of enhancing their operational efficiency and ensuring they are capable of meeting world-class standards for sustained and reliable production.

As of Dec. 30, 2024, the Warri refinery had resumed operations after several years of inactivity, with the complex now operating at 60% of its nameplate capacity, NNPCL and Nigerian President Bola Tinubu said in a series of separate posts to their official social media accounts.

In response to the aforementioned, Iche opined that if President Tinubu and NNPC claim that Port Harcourt and Warri refineries are in the functional stage, it is a welcome development. However, the government should begin working on current prices of petroleum across the country.

In addition, the call for Mele Kyari's resignation will be eased if he truly achieves the purpose of his appointment as chairman of NNPCL without creating false hopes as done previously to extend his stay as chairman. He has previously deceived over 200 million Nigerians about functional refineries; meanwhile, petroleum products are being imported into a country blessed with crude oil. Nigerians need transparency, Iche said.

Nairaland GeneralThe Anglican Church Of Nigeria As An Independent National Province In West Afric by onochurch(op): 9:54am On Dec 31, 2024
The Anglican Church of Nigeria as an Independent National Province in West Africa

By Engr Korede Akintunde

The Church of Nigeria is the Anglican Church in Nigeria. It is one of the largest Province in the Anglican Communion. It came out of the Province of West Africa and was inaugurated as an independent national Province on February 24, 1979 – St Matthias Day. There were 16 Dioceses at inauguration.

The Vision: “The Church of Nigeria shall be Bible-based, spiritually dynamic, united; disciplined; self-supporting; committed to pragmatic evangelism, social welfare and a church that epitomizes the genuine love of Christ.”

It is thoroughly evangelical in its theology. Its theology is fashioned by the Bible and yet there is room for tradition and reason in theological engagements and interpretation.

Scripture Tradition Reason (Richard Hooker) It shares and affirms the 39 Articles of Religion (Article of Faith). Since 2002 the Church of Nigeria is organised into 14 internal ecclesiastical provinces.
The 14 Provinces of the Church are: Abuja Province, Aba Province, Lokoja Province, Kaduna Province, Owerri Province, Lagos Province, Niger Province, Niger Delta Province, Jos Province, Kwara Province, Ibadan Province, Ondo Province, Bendel Province and Enugu Province.

Each Province is headed by the Ecclesiastical Archbishop who is elected to serve for a term of five years and can be so elected the second time and no more.
Becoming an Ecclesiastical Archbishop is by election not appointment. It operates the Anglican polity of being “episcopally led and synodically governed.

It has rapidly increased the number of its dioceses and bishops from 91 in 2002 to 164, as at today, May 28, 2024. The administrative headquarters is located in Abuja (St Matthias House, Plot 942 Ibrahim Waziri Crescent, Gudu District, Abuja). St Matthias House, Gudu, Abuja, its National Secretariat was built and commissioned for use during the Primacy of Archbishop Nicholas D. Okoh. It was dedicated on 24th April 2019.

It prides itself as the Church of the Great Church father Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther the first black Anglican Bishop who with others pioneered missions into the different parts of Nigeria. Remember the Anglican Church started in Nigeria in 1842. Many institutions have been named after Bishop Crowther –
Crowther Graduate Theological Seminary, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Bishop Crowther College of Theology, Okene, Kogi State, Crowther Mission Center, Osoogun, Oyo State, Crowther Radio, Abuja, Crowther Chariots, Abuja.

Many Cathedral stalls, hostels, houses, books, theses and dissertations have been written on Bishop Crowther. Some people have suggested that he be named the first Primate of the Church of Nigeria, this cannot be, because the Church of Nigeria became a province, a status that gave it the right to have Primate as its leader in 1979.

All the same, Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther is loved and celebrated in the Church of Nigeria – October 3 is his Day. The Church of Nigeria has been headed by five Primates till date. Its fifth and current primate is Archbishop Henry C. Ndukuba (2020 till date). Archbishop Timothy Olufosoye was the first Primate from St Matthias Day in 1979 till 1988.

Archbishop Joseph Abiodun Adetiloye was the second Primate (1988-1999).
Archbishop Peter Jasper Akinola became the third Primate (2000 – 2010).
Archbishop Nicholas D. Okoh was the fourth Primate (2010-2020).

Autonomy: The Church of Nigeria is an autonomous Province within the Anglican Communion and does not report to the Archbishop of Canterbury. It became an autonomous Province in 1979 (24th February – St Matthias Day).

Primacy: The Primate of the Church of Nigeria is the head of the Nigerian Anglican Church, similar to how the Archbishop of Canterbury is the spiritual leader of the Church of England.
The Primate is elected at the Episcopal Synod for a single term of 10 years after which he retires even if he has not reached the constitutional mandatory retirement age of 70.

Also, if he reaches 70 years before his 10-year term he will also retire because the constitutional mandatory retirement age of 70 supersedes the 10-year term.
The Primate is the Archbishop and Metropolitan. He is also the Bishop of the Diocese of Abuja and the Dean of his Cathedral.

The Dean of the Church of Nigeria deputizes for the Primate. His roles are as assigned by the Primate. The first elected Dean to serve the full five-year nonrenewable term was the Most Rev’d Lamido A Buba, the former Archbishop of Kaduna Province and Bishop of the Diocese of Wusasa.

The current Dean is the Most Rev’d Blessing Enyindah, the Archbishop of Niger Delta and the Bishop of the Diocese of Ikwerre.
The General Synod meets once in 3 years, and it is the highest decision-making body of the Church. There are two secretaries of the General Synod who serve as minutes recorders during sessions and even during Standing Committee Meetings
Clerical Secretary and Lay Secretary. This helps you to know then that the General Secretary is an administrator not a recorder of notes – of course he takes notes at exclusive meetings for the purpose of administration with the Primate.
Whereas these two record proceedings, the General Secretary is the custodian of minutes and other documents of the Church.

The General Synod, Standing Committee and Diocesan Synods are made up of: The House of Bishops chaired by the Primate; The House of Clergy chaired by the Prolocutor, The House of Laity chaired by the Chairman. The Standing Committee of the General Synod meets twice a year to execute the decisions of the General Synod and take other decisions which will eventually be ratified by the General Synod.

To be continued

Funfair Stampede: Human Rights Advocate Urge FG Intervention on Volunteers Charged With Murder

....Says the Nigerian government has 50% of the blame in the stampede occurrences.

By Onome Naomi

President of Ambassadors of Peace and Enlightenment Foundation 'AMPEF,' Comrade Prince Saviour Iche urges the federal government to intercede in the murder charges against organizers of the funfair events leading to the stampede. Opined that the recent stampede happenings in three states of the federation are as a result of a failed government, it shows the extent to which hunger has engulfed Nigerians.

The stampede that happened in Abuja, Anambra, and Oyo also explains that the Nigerian government has neglected her primary responsibilities to the masses. The provision of free food items and scholarships by private volunteers to support the less privileged had led the masses to embrace opportunities such as funfairs, leading to the loss of lives.

Although Tinubu's administration gave directives for free transportation and a slash of food items in December 2024, the process was not monitored to see if these directives were effected; the price of food commodities skyrocketed immensely, transport for those travelling from one place to another for the Yuletide season became exorbitant, and transportation within the state also climaxed.

A survey shows that many Nigerians couldn't celebrate as usual for lack of resources. The price of a bag of rice in Nigeria is sold at N120,000, while at the Nigerian/Cotonu border it is sold at N80,000, and at Cotonu it is sold at N60,000. The government would have done better if the border had been opened to enable the free flow of food items at an affordable price, as well as allow Nigerians to enjoy the availability of scarce commodities.

Whom do we blame? The idea of arresting and prosecuting the organizers of these charity events done to assist the less privileged since the government has failed to do so has led to a stampede. The government has failed to reach out to the citizens through subsidized food items and availability of resources, leading to the emergence of various philanthropists proposing to assist the less privileged with the aim to quell hunger.

The overwhelming crowd in these various places in wait for food supplies led to the death of over 120 persons, including children, and should not be pinned on the organizers alone. It is unfortunate that hunger has led many unto the battle of 'survival of the fittest,' and the government is partly to be blamed for the misfortune that has befallen the less privileged.

As we sympathize with the bereaved families for their losses, we should take note that the prosecution of organizers of these events will amount to a negative signal to volunteers across the country willing to do the same. Even if volunteers, despite happenings, employ measures to avoid stampede occurrences, there is only a very little chance that a stampede will not occur due to extreme poverty ravaging the country. In the future, organizers of charity events will resent gifting the poor in the country for fear of stampede and prosecution by the court of law.

Comrade Iche further stated that although he is inclined to occasionally perform philanthropic deeds as a philanthropist, he will not do so because of the way the court is processing cases involving charity event organizers who have stampede problems. He claimed that accusing volunteers of murder in court because of stampede incidents is excessively harsh for those who have good intentions but unfavorable results.

Iche calls on the federal government to effect the release of the organizers of the charity events involving stampedes and deaths of many. Urge FG to drop the murder charges against them, for it is not fair judgment on volunteers who solely had the intention to help the poor. The estranged wife of the Ooni of Ife was heard fainting at the realization that lives were lost; this simply means that the organizers are also sad at the turnout of events and should not be treated unfairly.

Iche added that the crowd witnessed at every food fair event and at the president's residence of recent where people queued to get a loaf of bread in Lagos demonstrates that hunger experienced by the masses is out of control and the government has 50% of the blame. The stampede is not the fault of the organizers in its entirety; they are also overwhelmed with turnouts of beneficiaries. The government should own up to their responsibility to avoid these occurrences.

CrimeDelta Police Arrest Four Murder Suspects And Recover The Skull Of The Deceased A by onochurch(op):
Delta police arrest four murder suspects and recover the skull of the deceased at a shrine

By Onome Naomi

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda addressed the press on Monday, December 23rd, 2024 over an incident he termed painful involving the murder of one Paulinus Okon ‘m’ by his bosom friend One Efe Onoetiyi.

He narrated that Paulinus was reported missing on 8/9/2024 by his brother after he went out with his friend Efe Onoitiyi, ‘m,’ age 30 yrs. The suspect, Efe Onoitiyi, who initially denied knowing what happened to Paulinus, went to Paulinus's house to ask his family if Paulinus returned home, but he was met with confrontation from the deceased family in accusation that the deceased went out with him as last seen.

On a later date, Efe came back and demanded five hundred thousand Naira (#500,000) from the deceased's brother, saying he would use the money to pay a herbalist who could tell them Paulinus' whereabouts. Efe again came and informed the family that Paulinus was kidnapped, and he collected a ransom of about twenty million, seven hundred and fifteen thousand naira (#20,715,000) from the deceased brother, claiming that he was in touch with the kidnappers.

When it became obvious that Efe had something to hide, he was arrested, and the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department State Headquarters in Asaba.

On 28th November 2024, the CP said he directed the DPO Ekpan to take over the case and ensure that a discrete investigation is carried out to fish out those responsible, as the main suspect, Efe, was not yielding. The DPO Ekpan carried out an intelligence-led investigation that indicted one Okeimute Gaga ‘m’ aged 48 years old.

Okeimute, upon his arrest, opened up and confessed that he can no longer hide what happened. Okeimute Gaga narrated how Efe brought Paulinus to Orere River in Otokutu and requested that they kill him. The suspect further stated that on the 8th of September 2024, he, Efe, and Sunday Ikpeba, and a 30-year-old herbalist known as Lawrence Joseph, tied Paulinus Okon to a stake at night close to Orere River and beheaded him alive. His body was thrown into the river while the herbalist took the head of Paulinus and buried him at his shrine in Otokutu. The DPO Ekpan Police station led police operatives to the shrine in Otokutu where the skull of Paulinus was exhumed and recovered.

During interrogation, Efe was asked why he killed his friend Paulinus. Efe stated that he saw a building for sale at a cost of thirty million naira (#30,000,000), which he advertised to the deceased, and the deceased paid him thirty million naira (#30,000,000) in three installments, but instead of buying the house, he diverted the money for his personal use, bought two lands, and was building a duplex for himself. He further stated that he did not know how to explain to the deceased that he had used his money; hence he decided that killing me would save him the trouble. Efe and the three other suspects are in custody.

PoliticsIbadan Funfair Stampede: The Event Was Called Off As Soon As The Organizers Arri by onochurch(op): 1:26pm On Dec 22, 2024
Ibadan funfair stampede: The event was called off as soon as the organizers arrived; beneficiaries exceeded their budget, but the people refused to leave the venue - Source

...The event was originally planned to be held at Moniya community, not Islamic High School Bashorun. We sent people away from the school when we saw they had exceeded 5000; we actually called off the event, but the people refused to leave." - Source.

By Naomisophyblog

New information has indicated that the stampede that took place at the Islamic High School Bashorun area in Ibadan was originally planned to be held at Moniya community, an outskirt and spacious community from the city center. One of the supporting organizers said, revealing how they made efforts to prevent a stampede.

The supporting organizers further narrated that:

"The incident is an unfortunate one; we mourn the little ones and condole with their families; we are also traumatized by the tragedy. This is not what we planned, but due to the media hype of the event, a lot of people came days before the event. Some of them had come to the Islamic high school a day before the event with their cooking pots and mats. They were sleeping there with their children for days so as to be beneficiaries of the charity event."

"Our plan was to make use of the Moniya community. Moniya community is at the outskirts of the city, but it was Alhaji Hamzat who brought the idea of using the Islamic high school."

"A day before the event, we had recorded more than the targeted number of people, including children. When we saw that the figures had exceeded 5000, we started telling the people to leave that the event had been cancelled, but they refused to leave."

"The radio station, as we heard, made an announcement that more people should not come to the event, but by 6 am, the gate of the school was filled with people who brought their children. Serious efforts were made to stop them from entering, but they kept pushing and refused to go away. All these happened before 10 am when the event was scheduled to start.

A resident who identified herself as Toyin said, "The organizers indeed told people to leave the venue. When I got there with my sister's child, I saw the crowd, and following the announcements that the event had been cancelled, I took the child away, but others kept pushing with their children to enter. The hype on the event was indeed much coupled with the hunger in the land and desperation; people refused to heed the warning to leave the event".

Another organizer also said, "It is sad that Madam Naomi, who came with a good heart to alleviate the sufferings of people, is the one that is being arrested. The other suspects, including the principals and others arrested, are good people who brought help to the children and to parents, but today they are suffering for their charitable work. This will discourage others with good intentions."

"People should know that they were not out to kill anyone but to feed, care for, and cater to the needs of people they do not even know. God will vindicate them, and the government should know that Madam Naomi and other organizers indeed are complementing the government's efforts to bring succor to the people, especially during these hard times when feeding for many families is so difficult. Our heart goes out to the families that lost their children, and we join to mourn the departed children whom Madam Naomi came to bless.".

It can be recalled that the Oyo State Police Command arrested eight persons in connection with the tragedy at the funfair at Islamic High School Bashorun. The arrest was contained in a statement by the command's spokesperson, SP Osifeso Adewale, mnipr.

Breaking: Speaker Obasa Debunks Allegation Of Spending N17b On Assembly Gate

By Naomisophyblog

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, on Thursday described the allegation that the House spent N17 billion on the fixing of a gate as spurious and funny.

A self-proclaimed group, Lagos State Anti-Corruption Coalition, had accused the Assembly of spending the amount to construct a gate. The group also sought investigation of the claim.

Speaking at plenary, Dr. Obasa said the allegation stemmed from the fear of some people over 2027 which is still more than two years away.

Obasa further debunked the claim that the House spent N200 million on its recently organised 22nd thanksgiving service for staff.

"It is so funny. How much is the allocation of the Assembly in the whole year that we will decide to spend N17 billion on a gate? They even claimed that we expended 200 million on thanksgiving that did not hold.

"We are aware that at a period like this when we are approaching elections in 2027, we should expect such things. I think some people are scared and I don't know why.

"This House did not and has not embarked on any such project. We are not that reckless. We had our thanksgiving last Friday and dignitaries from various parts of the State attended it," the Speaker said.

Addressing further claims by the group about the alleged relationship between him and the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, the Speaker denied attending the latter's screening and confirmation by the National Assembly.

"They said that I was at the National Assembly when they were confirming the EFCC chairman. I want to believe that there are CCTV cameras at the National Assembly to identify those who attended the event. The press must have written about it too. So the group should do more to confirm if I was there.

"This is just to deny the allegations in the interest of the public and not the writers because the writers are not those we should be joining words with," the Speaker said.

Earlier, the House, through its spokesperson, Hon. Stephen Ogundipe, had addressed the allegations noting that the Assembly bases its activities on integrity, transparency and accountability.

"It is ludicrous the claim about constituency intervention funds and constituency project funds and their handling by Speaker Mudashiru Obasa and Clerk of the House, Barr. Olalekan Onafeko as claimed by the group.

"One would have expected a self-acclaimed anti-corruption crusading group to do its groundwork before jumping across the fence with conviction that it hit a jackpot to malign an institution of repute in the name of politics.

"Simply put, the Lagos State House of Assembly does not have any such funds. The Assembly does not embark on constituency projects. Instead, once every year, the House holds stakeholders’ meetings simultaneously across the state where constituents have the opportunity to tell the lawmakers their expectations and make requests for the betterment of the state.

"These requests and expectations are compiled and sent to the executive arm of government for consideration as inputs in subsequent budgets. If this is what the group takes as constituency intervention or project funds, we are sure this explanation has given the required education, moreover, it is common knowledge that it is the responsibility of the Executive arm to execute such projects," the earlier statement by Ogundipe read.

Eromosele Ebhomele, Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly related this report to the press on Thursday, December 19,2024.

PoliticsThe 2025 Budget Of Restoration And Its Impact On Nigerian Youth - Dare Ojepe, Se by onochurch(op): 3:05pm On Dec 18, 2024
The 2025 Budget of Restoration and Its Impact on Nigerian Youth - Dare Ojepe, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Youth Engagement

By Naomisophyblog

In a landmark presentation, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu unveiled the 2025 Budget, aptly titled "Budget of Restoration: Securing Peace, Rebuilding Prosperity," which sets an ambitious agenda for Nigeria’s future. As the country stands at a pivotal point in its development, this budget is designed to navigate Nigeria through the challenges of today while paving the way for a prosperous tomorrow. Central to this vision is the focus on youth empowerment and development, crucial drivers of the nation’s economic and social transformation.

Empowering the Youth – A Core Focus

The 2025 budget aligns closely with the administration's Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasizing investments in human capital, particularly targeting the youthful population. With a significant portion of the budget dedicated to education and health sectors directly impacting the youth the administration demonstrates a commitment to equipping the younger generation with the skills and well-being necessary to thrive in an evolving world.

With N3.52 trillion allocated to education, the government aims to enhance educational infrastructure, improve teacher quality, and ensure access to education for all. This strategic investment seeks to produce a workforce that is not only skilled but also adaptable to the future challenges of the global economy. By creating a learning environment that fosters innovation and critical thinking, the budget sets the stage for reducing youth unemployment and promoting entrepreneurship, allowing young Nigerians to become leaders in various fields.

Furthermore, the allocation of N2.48 trillion to health underscores the importance of a healthy population as a prerequisite for prosperity. Improved healthcare systems are expected to better serve the youth, addressing issues such as maternal health, child nutrition, and preventable diseases critical for nurturing a healthy next generation that can contribute effectively to national development.

Economic Opportunities and Inclusion

The budget also focuses on creating economic opportunities by enhancing the business environment and fostering inclusive growth, which are pivotal for youth employment and entrepreneurship. With economic reforms aimed at macroeconomic stability and boosting trade and investment, young entrepreneurs are poised to benefit from a more robust and competitive economy. This creates an ecosystem where new ideas can flourish and be transformed into viable business ventures.

Additionally, the focus on infrastructure development with an allocation of N4.06 trillion not only promises short-term job creation but also sets the foundation for long-term economic prosperity. Improved infrastructure means better connectivity and accessibility, enabling the youth to engage more effectively in economic activities and improve their quality of life.

Youth and National Security

The significant investment of N4.91 trillion in defense and security reinforces the government's commitment to creating a safe environment, crucial for economic activities and stability. For the youth, who are often both the most affected by security challenges and the most involved in tackling them, this investment is vital. It aims to provide a secure environment where young people can reach their full potential without the fear of insecurity truncating their aspirations.

Conclusion

The 2025 Budget is a bold statement of President Tinubu’s vision to not only restore Nigeria’s economy but to lay a strong foundation for long-term success with the youth at its heart. By focusing on education, health, and economic opportunities, the budget seeks to prepare young Nigerians to lead and innovate. While the journey may be fraught with challenges, this budget is a crucial step in ensuring that the youth are not just beneficiaries, but active participants in Nigeria’s transformation towards peace and prosperity. As the nation implements this budget, collaboration between the government, private sector, and the youth will be key in realizing the full potential of these well-considered investments.

PoliticsNigerians Desire Food Security, Not Free Transportation - Comrade Prince Saviour by onochurch(op): 12:07pm On Dec 18, 2024
Nigerians desire food security, not free transportation - Comrade Prince Saviour Iche tells FG.

.....Transporters do not abide by President Tinubu's directive for free transport during festivities.

.....says those around president Tinubu should give him the appropriate information.

By Onome Naomi

Information circulating in the internet space states that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved free transportation for Nigerians ahead of Christmas and New Year; meanwhile, the announcement is affirmed, but transporters do not abide by the directives on the grounds that fuel prices remain the same and Pres. Tinubu will not directly cater to their families. The directives only concern state-owned transport services, not commercial transportation owned by individuals.

Speaking about the free transportation approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Nigerians during this festive period, Iche said in 2023 Tinubu's government reduced transportation to about 50% as announced. During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that most of the transporters did not abide by the directive for some other reasons as aforementioned. With this 2024 declaration, only BRT buses and other Lagos state-owned transport will abide by these directives, but 80% of Nigerians who go out by means of public transport do so using the commercial buses and tricycles. Whatever the president has made a declaration for only suits a minimal number of Nigerians, hence has no positive effect on the populace.

Following this report, Comrade Prince Saviour Iche is advocating for Nigerians by tasking the president and his subordinates on ways to relieve Nigerians from the untold hardship of food insecurity, which stems from a hike in prices of food commodities (deterring sustainability for average families), high transportation costs due to an increase in PMS, lack of reliable electricity, a bad road network, lack of basic infrastructure that could generate a passive income, and other factors.

More so, Tinubu's subordinates do not give him the right information on situations arising from directives given. Putting the needs of the masses foremost and seeing it to completion is essential in enhancing the prowess of an administration. An administration should think outside the box and carry out surveys on what areas will bring relief to the masses before giving a directive. As far as the needs of the masses are concerned, free transportation for a few Nigerians is inconsequential. Why not enforce a reduced uniform price for food items? We only see in the news that the cost of rice in bags has been slashed, but in reality we buy a bag for over 100,000 naira; the price increases, Iche added.

Iche further said,

"I want to notify this present administration that the problems Nigerians are facing now are not just transportation. Nigerians need more than that. People can't even travel for Christmas, and if there was a free ride, what are people going to spend once they get to their destination? Nigerians demand more than transportation as people are hungry, with some finding it hard to eat one square meal a day."

"It is expected that the government slash down food prices, enforce maintaining a uniform price, and put the economy in shape."

" As the voice of the voiceless, the harp on people's lips is hardship, hunger, and insecurity. With these, transportation should not be the only help from the government, as it is beneficial to a few. With the suffering people had to face in this administration, the government should bring a reduced amount of foodstuffs during this festive period and make it available for the masses. People will be happy to eat and stay at home rather than traveling."

"Nigerians cannot afford to buy foodstuff; they can't even go to the market to get things for their survival. Food security should be the focus of the government rather than free transportation. It is expected of Pres. Tinubu's advisers to give the president an accurate account of the needs of Nigerians; untold hardship is plaguing the country."

Nairaland GeneralTricycle Operator Who Returned Passenger's Forgotten Bag Of Foreign Currency Rew by onochurch(op):
Tricycle operator who returned passenger's forgotten bag of foreign currency rewarded by hotel owner

....says the passenger is the hotel's guest.

By Onome Naomi

The Chairman of Aceland Royal Gardens, Eze Alex Nwoye, the Bobaselu of Ejigbo, has generously rewarded Chukwudi Okeke, a diligent tricycle operator, for returning a guest's bag that contained foreign currencies, pricey jewelry, and documents that were left in his tricycle. This was carried out after Okeke portrayed an honorable deed.

Of recent, the tricycle operator who operates within the suburbs of Ejigbo transported a passenger (names withheld), a Nigerian based in the United States of America. On that fateful day, Chukwudi Okeke narrated that while calling for passengers at night on Friday, 6th December, 2024, he saw the passenger at Jakande Gate at about 11 pm, which was late, with some bags. He said initially he had wanted to pass but then changed his mind and transported the passenger to the Aceland. He further explained that upon approaching the hotel, some workers in Aceland Royal Gardens who knew the passenger excitedly offered to offload the owner's bags from the tricycle but forgot to pick the last bag, which contained the foreign currencies.

It took Chukwudi Okeke two days to decide whom the bag might be for; he said he noticed the bag but was not even sure of the owner. He only suspected that the bag belonged to the passenger whom he had dropped off at the hotel. Before the return of the bag to the owner, he opened the bag to see if he could find a number to call but only discovered documents, foreign currencies, and other things. He then decided not to tell anyone about it, including the person he's squatting with, for fear of confiscation or tampering, but rather traced the owner to the hotel.

Okeke also mentioned that despite his predicament of homelessness and catering for a sick sister, he will never take what does not belong to him owing to his grandmother's upbringing. More so, he's been a tricycle rider for 11 years, and presently, he is riding on a higher-purchased tricycle that needs repairs but would rather struggle than steal or take what's not his.

After the return of the bag, he told his friends about the incident; they mocked him and called him’Ode"—that God decided to bless him, and he threw the blessing away. But he said he had no regrets because he knew it was the right thing to do.

In response, the bag's owner, stated that he was still in disbelief that someone like Chukwudi Okeke existed in Nigeria. He said he had given up on seeing the bag and was listening to assurances that it was not a life-or-death matter. Despite not knowing the Keke rider, hotel owner Eze Alex Nwoye showed faith by stating that they might yet return the luggage.

He verified that the bag included various foreign currencies, pricey jewelry, a laptop, credit cards, and important documents. He reported the incident to the Ejigbo Division police because of the type of materials found within. He clarified that nothing had been taken out of the bag when the rider returned it, and everything was in its original condition.

Aceland guest (the passenger) commended Chukwudi Okeke for his honesty and said that he is unique among young people because of his high moral standards. He offered some money, but Okeke declined until he was persuaded.

The Aceland Royal Garden's owner, Eze Alex Nwoye, also compensated the tricycle driver for his integrity in order to set an example for others and encourage young people to embrace this aspect of life for a bigger payoff. Chukwudi Okeke was also invited to the end-of-year celebration at Aceland Royal Gardens, where he was appreciated monetarily by many visitors when they heard about the story.

You can approach Chukwudi Okeke, the honest Nigerian, at 09112797792 to appreciate his good deed.

PoliticsEmbracing Tax Reform: A Call To Action For Nigeria's Youth - Dare Ojepe by onochurch(op):
Embracing Tax Reform: A Call to Action for Nigeria's Youth - Dare Ojepe

By Naomisophyblog

At this significant crossroads, the future prosperity of Nigeria heavily relies on visionary reforms and active civic participation. One such critical reform, currently pursued by President Bola Tinubu GCFR, involves the restructuring of our nation’s tax system—a move that promises to lay the foundation for sustainable economic growth and enhanced socio-economic equity.

Let us begin with the essence of the reform. These changes are not just about numbers and policies; they represent a transformative vision for our country; one where resources are judiciously managed, and opportunities are equitably distributed among all Nigerians, especially the youth, who are the backbone of our nation.

Driving Economic Growth

The proposed tax reform is designed to foster an economic environment where businesses can thrive and innovation is encouraged. By broadening the tax base and ensuring efficiency in collection, the government aims to create a more stable economic foundation. This stability is crucial for attracting domestic and international investments which, in turn, translate to increased job opportunities, particularly for young Nigerians entering the workforce.

Enhancing Public Services

The link between tax reform and public service improvement cannot be overstated. With better compliance and fairer distribution, tax revenues can significantly boost funding for essential services such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure. Imagine schools with state-of-the-art facilities, hospitals with modern equipment, and roads that connect our nation seamlessly, all attainable with the right fiscal policies.

Empowering Youth and Entrepreneurs

One of the exciting aspects of these reforms is the focus on creating a supportive environment for youth entrepreneurship. The reforms include some tax exemptions for businesses with annual returns less than fifty million naira, which significantly benefits budding entrepreneurs. This measure encourages startups and small enterprises, enabling young Nigerians to transform their innovative ideas into flourishing businesses without the immediate pressure of financial burdens.

Furthermore, the reform proposes some tax exemptions for employees whose annual income is less than ten million naira. This initiative directly impacts young professionals entering the workforce, allowing them to save more and invest in their future, thereby enhancing their economic stability.

Ensuring Transparency and Accountability

At the heart of any effective reform is transparency. The proposed changes include measures to enhance accountability in tax administration, ensuring that every naira collected is directed towards meaningful development projects. This approach aims to build public trust and foster a civic culture where contributing to national growth is seen as a collective responsibility.

A Call to Action

To the vibrant youth of our nation, your role in this transformation is indispensable. We urge you to engage in this dialogue, to understand the nuances of these policy shifts, and to advocate for transparent and equitable reforms. Your voices, your ideas, and your actions are essential in driving this change and securing a prosperous future for all.
