The Police Public Relations Officer of Ogun state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, in an update on the killing of a girl identified as Rofia by four teenagers in Abeokuta, said the leader of the gang has been arrested, IGBERETV reports.

Oyeyemi had confirmed that four teenagers had slaughtered and burnt the skull of Rofia after her boyfriend, Soliu, lured her to his house in Oke-Aregna .

IGBERETV learnt that there was confusion in Oke Aregba community in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, on Saturday, when some teenage boys were caught burning the skull of a girl, said to be in a relationship with one of them, for alleged money rituals.

The community security guard, one Segun Adewusi was said to have observed that some boys were burning something suspicious in a local pot.

The security guard immediately alerted the police at Adatan station, who went to the scene and arrested three of the boys arrested while Soliu, the leader of the gang had fled before police arrival.

The slain girl was a resident of Idi-Ape Abeokuta and was a girlfriend to Soliu, who is now in police net.

Explaining how Soliu was arrested, the PPRO said the DPO was given a matching order to get him.arresred .

He said, “Following the matching order given to the DPO Adatan by the commissioner of police to ensure the arrest of the deceased boyfriend, the DPO and his men had eventually arrested the fleeing suspect Soliu Majekodumi in his hideout. He is 18 years old."

Soliu was said to have lured the girl to his room, where he held her down and asked one of his friends to slaughter her with a knife.

Other suspects earlier arrested were identified as 17-year-old Wariz Oladeinde from Kugba, 19-year-old Abdulgafar Lukman from Kugba and Mustakeem Balogun from Bode Olude, all in Abeokuta.

The Police had said, “They killed Rofiat, cut her head, packed the headless body in a sack and started burning the head in a pot. They told the police in the presence of a mammoth crowd that they wanted to use it for money ritual.”

Kwara state government has warned school principals against imposing the wearing of the hijab (female Muslim headscarf) or beret on any student, IGBERETV reports.

Chairman of the State Teaching Service Commission, Mallam Bello Abubakar gave the warning as conveyed in a statement released on Sunday January 23, 2022.

Abubakar during a meeting on Friday January 21, reaffirmed the determination of the state government to promote religious tolerance among teachers and students and enhance peaceful coexistence.

It was noted that the meeting was held with the aim of resolving the crisis over Hijab which erupted recently at Oyun Baptist Grammar School, Ijagbo, Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State, according to the spokesman of TESCOM, Peter Amogbonjaye.

The statement added;

“He, thereafter, warned the principals in Oyun axis to abide by the policy of the Kwara State Government and desist from imposing Hijab on any student, instead, it should be made optional."

While warning that the present administration would not tolerate religious bigotry, enjoined all to shun religious sentiments and respect the rights of individuals, Bello reminded the gathering that Kwara State is a state of harmony and advised everyone to remain good ambassadors for the coming generation.

A member of local security outfit, Ebubeagu, Sunday Nwafor, in Ekpelu community, in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State has been killed by gunmen, IGBERETV reports.

The gunmen stormed Nwafor's house at night while he was asleep and shot him dead. They dragged his body out of his room and cut off his head, which they took away.

The state police spokesperson, Loveth Odah who confirmed the incident said;

“According to the DPO of Ikwo Police Division, some gunmen went to the house of one Sunday Nwafor. He was about 30 years old and a member of the Ebubeagu security outfit. The gunmen broke into his room while he was asleep and shot him dead. They dragged the body outside and beheaded him.

“His wife, who spoke to the police, said before she heard a gunshot, she overheard one of the hoodlums telling her husband that he left them in the bush and came back home to enjoy himself by collecting N30,000 monthly from the government.

“Two of the suspects have been arrested; investigation is ongoing. This act is barbaric and inhumane. This is coming barely two weeks after we recorded the other Ebubeagu incident, in which someone was also killed in this form and half burnt.

“The Commissioner of Police condemns in totality this kind of killing and has vowed to do everything within the ambit of the law to ensure that the remaining perpetrators are brought to book.”

A decomposing body has been found floating in the Ali River in Enugwu-Agidi in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, IGBERETV reports.

Confirming this to newsmen, the President General of the community, Bartholomew Nnamdi Okeke, said the body has been in the river for two weeks and that efforts to get the authorities to remove the body from the river have proved abortive. A statement from him reads;

''It is a serious situation that a dead corpse was throwned into Ali Enugwu-Agidi. The issue has lingered on for two weeks now as NDU have made all necessary effort and still on top of the matter.

We can give details that we have informed the Dunukofia Divisional Police Officer who declined on the ground that he lacks jurisdiction yet we asked him to inform his Njikoka counterpart so that necessary step to evacuate the corpse be taken. We have also engaged the DCID Awka who promised to expedite action on the removal process.

Our Local Government Chairman was also informed and same situation ensued. Thus, we have to announced to our people for the risk of their lives to stop fetching *Ali* for now while we keep working and we assure our people that the matter would be laid to rest in few days time.

Nigerian socialite and businessman, Obi Iyiegbu aka Obi Cubana has reacted to the allegation linking him to Asian drug barons, IGBERETV reports.

Obi Cubana, on Thursday, January 13, 2022 visited the headquarters of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and spent about four hours. He arrived the NDLEA premises at about 9am based on invitation for clarifications over reports of suspicious payments made into his account by three convicted drug dealers from Malaysia, Nigeria and India. He allowed to go home at about 1.30pm.

In an Instagram live session with Daddy Freeze, Obi Cubana said he was Innocent of the allegation. He said the allegation made him feel so low because he had made a covenant with his God never to be involved in illicit drug trafficking.

...My husband had threatened in the past to kill our children

Mrs. Millicent Amadigwa, the mother of the three girls who were allegedly killed and dumped in a deep freezer by their father, 52-year-old Ifeanyi Amadikwa, at their home on 74 Nkwubor Road, Emene, Enugu, has broken her silence, IgbereTV reports.

On Wednesday, news media reported the sad story of how police arrested the suspect on January 4 after the children, Chidalum Amadikwa aged 11 (who is his step-daughter), Amarachi Amadikwa aged 8 and Ebubechukwu Amadikwa aged 4, were found dead.

In an interview with Punch, Mrs. Amadigwa who sells tomato and pepper for a living, said her husband who has been unemployed for a few years, had in the past threatened to kill their children. She said she took his threat seriously and reported it to his aunt who asked her to disregard it as it was just ''a mere threat''.

Mrs Amadigwa while recounting how she found her dead children, said on the 4th of January, her girls woke up in the morning while she was preparing to go to the market. She said she instructed them to wash their clothes after eating while she left the house with her son, Akachukwu, to the market where she sells.

The distraught mother said when she came back, she was surprised that none of her children ran out to welcome her the way they normally do whenever she returned home from the market. She stated that she asked her husband for their whereabouts and he was very nonchalant, asking her to go and look for them herself.

She said she went to a neighbor's house to search for them but did not find them there. Mrs. Amadigwa said she returned home and was about to grab something to eat when her husband shouted, saying she should come and see the children in a deep freezer by the entrance of their house.

She said they rushed the children to the hospital where the doctor confirmed them dead.

Mrs. Amadigwa says she suspects only her husband as the person who killed their children

''No one again except my husband because he has threatened this children that he will kill them. He said me and him will appear in newspapers.''

She said he had been threatening her since last year without any valid reason.

''I reported the threat to their senior sister, Aunty Ann who lives in Owerri. She told me it is just ordinary and that he wouldn't do anything''

She said she also told her older brother who called him on phone and warned him not to harm anyone. According to her, her deceased children were always reluctant to collect anything from their father because of his hostile attitude towards them.

She said her husband worked in two different companies before traveling to Dubai. He returned two years ago and has remained unemployed, thereby, failing to provide for their family. She said on the day of the incident, her husband bought some chemicals which he said he wanted to pour in a well dug in their compound. She said she believes he used the chemicals to kill their children.

Mrs Amadigwa said her husband is still insisting that he did not kill the children.

The police say the matter is currently being investigated.
