After Governor Fayose called on President Buhari to resign, there was a serious fight on Channels TV as the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, described Ekiti State governor’s call for President Buhari’s resignation as an act of desperation for publicity.

In a chat with Channels TV last night, Garba said the presidency never responds to anything Fayose says.
His words: “I’m sad that you are inviting me to speak on Governor Fayose. If you follow the Presidency, we don’t talk when he talks because he is desperate for publicity.
“We have a constitution that governs the country and the constitution is very clear about how the country runs. This country has a tripod of authority in terms of distribution of political power.
“You have the parliament which is doing its own work, you have the judiciary which is running, you have the executive and we don’t have any problem with this so therefore if anybody has a problem with the constitution then they should go and change it.”
Fayose on Tuesday urged Buhari, to resign if he truly loves the country, as ill-heath was not allowing the him effectively discharge his constitutional duties.
Fayose, who addressed newsmen in Lagos on Tuesday, said being anavowed corruption fighter, Buhari is now under moral burden to save Nigeria from needless stagnation arising from his heath challenges that have impacted negatively on his performance.
The governor said fighting corruption was not limited to ‎discovering large sums of money here and there, but doing the right thing at the right time.
He opined that taking a bow when necessary was also an indication of being morally upright.
His words: “He can do us the great help by resigning. Not resigning bothers on his integrity.‎ His absence allows others to suppress and oppress others and that means he is allowing others ‎ to suppress their fellow human beings.‎
“There are many governments in one and they are clueless.‎ We need an active president going by our numerous challenges. ‎How long will Nigerians wait for an incapacitated president‎?

‎”We cannot wait again for somebody to hold us to ransom.‎ I don’t have any bad blood against Buhari Osinbajo has no powers without the president. He owes us the duty to tell us the state ‎of his health,” the governor said.

The governor, who appraised the two years of the Buhari administration, said the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government had failed to deliver on its promises.
‎
“So far, the APC-led Federal Government has been a government of misadventure and Nigerians are worse for it. They say they are fighting corruption but are shielding corrupt elements within their fold”, he said.

Lai Mohammed was asked about the latest situation after the weekly FEC meeting of senior ministers in the capital, Abuja. “Once again, I want to make myself very, very clear. On the issue of Mr President, he is in very competent hands and there is no cause for alarm,” he told reporters. Buhari, 74, has spent a large part of this year in London receiving treatment for an unspecified medical condition. He left Abuja on May 7 for what his office said was a “follow-up medical consultation” in the British capital and has not been seen or heard from since.

His wife, Aisha, has left Abuja to be with her husband. She previously played down rumours he was too ill to rule but said nothing on her departure from the capital on Tuesday. Buhari, a former military ruler, has been dogged by speculation about his health even before the election win in 2015 that brought him to power. During that election campaign, the then-ruling party claimed he was seriously ill with prostate cancer and even put out advertisements insinuating he would die in office. Buhari rejected the claims as unfounded and designed to portray him as unfit for office. He first sought treatment in London in June last year for what his aides said was a persistent inner ear infection, returning six months later for check-ups that was later said to be “a long period of treatment”. Buhari himself admitted on his return to Abuja in March that he had undergone blood transfusions and a barrage of tests. “I couldn’t recall being so sick since I was a young man,” he added. He made few public appearances until May 7, when he was seen looking painfully thin at a photocall with 82 schoolgirls released after spending over three years as Boko Haram hostages.

El-Rufai to Jonathan:Take responsibility for presiding over skewed distribution of Ecological Funds.

Kaduna—Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State, yesterday, asked former President Goodluck Jonathan to take responsibility for presiding over the skewed distribution of Ecological Funds to only governors elected on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and his friends in other parties.

Jonathan had accused the governor of lying against him by claiming that only PDP states benefitted from Ecological Funds distributed by his administration in 2013.

But addressing a press conference in Kaduna, yesterday, Senior Special Assistant to Governor el-Rufai on Media and Publicity, Samuel Aruwan, said the issues raised by Mallam el-Rufai were not his personal opinions but the view of the committee he chairs.

According to the governor, rather than resort to attacks on his person, the former president should provide a rationale for presiding over the distribution of federal funds in a discriminatory manner.
