Career / How To Start Egg Supply Business (step By Step) by Onyemadonald(m): 10:37am On Feb 02, 2017 |
EGG MARKETING AND DISTRIBUTION: SUPPLYING CRATES OF TABLE EGGS A lot of people do not understand that there is huge business opportunity in connecting egg buyers and egg sellers. Marketing eggs comes with lots of investment benefits because egg is consumed on a daily basis. Many poultry farmers who produce eggs on their farms do not have the time to market in a bid to reach out to potential buyers because of the task of managing the farm. This burden is taken off by egg distributors who come into poultry farms to buy crates of eggs at reduced price and sell to market women (who retails to end consumers) at a profit. Many industries such as baking and confectionery make use of egg as an important part of their raw materials. Production of poultry eggs is a major source of income for farmers who are into layer birds production. Producers of layers feed and poultry cages, drinkers and feeders also make money from this industry. STEP 1: GATHER YOUR CAPITAL Although some farms may give you certain amount of crates on credit after you have been tested over time, nevertheless you will need to have your capital with you when starting egg distribution business. You should decide on how much crates of egg you want to start supplying based on how much capital you have raised and how large how market is. Also note that in most farms, you would get better price when you buy more. STEP 2: SOURCE FOR RELIABLE POULTRY FARMS Your source of getting table eggs that you supply must be reliable. You should look for farms that can give you the eggs at competitive prices. The price of medium eggs ranges from N600 to N650 per crate. Jumbo (Extra-large or Double Yolk) goes for N700 to N750 Naira per crate. Some farms will not allow you come to the farm will your own paper crates to avoid transmission of infection through crates used on other farms. Paper crates can be sold to you at the rate of N3035 depending on the poultry farm. When choosing farms to stay buying eggs from, it is important to consider the selling price, quality of eggs in terms of size and colour, distance to market and means of transporting the eggs. STEP 3: LOOK FOR EGG BUYERS (RETAILERS) One of the key success in egg business in Nigeria is to grow a list of reliable egg buyers. You can get market for your eggs through market women in foodstuff market like Bodija in Ibadan, bakeries and caterers and their referrals. How much eggs you can sell should influence how much egg you buy from your source i.e. poultry farms. STEP 4: MEANS OF TRANSPORTING EGGS Most egg dealer move eggs from poultry farms to the market or their store houses with the use of vans. If you do not have a personal panel van or truck, you can hire one for a start. Asides careful driving, padding of the vehicle and compact arrangement of egg crates will minimize the amount of cracks. STEP 5: GET A WAREHOUSE/OUTLET Demand for table eggs fluctuates. Sometimes you end up buying more eggs than is eventually sold. There comes the need for an egg storage facility. An understanding of the guidelines of egg storage is important in the construction of your warehouse. Site your egg supply outlet strategically as this will give your egg marketing business the needed exposure. In starting egg supply business in Nigeria, you can start small and grow your capital slowly. Buying and selling eggs might look strange to you but concentrate on how profitable it is. Don’t underestimate the place of personal relationship and referrals to the success of the business. Keep yourself busy and be productive. http://katsinapost.com/2017/01/28/how-to-start-egg-supply-business-step-by-step/ 3 Likes |
NYSC / NYSC Make History, Opens Second Camp For ‘stream II’ Corp Members in Katsina by Onyemadonald(m): 10:48am On Jan 27, 2017 |
Katsina State on Thursday recorded its highest number of corps members in the history of NYSC scheme as no fewer than 5000 were sworn-in simultaneously in two separate camps in Katsina. The state NYSC Coordinator, Mr. John Okpo, made this disclosure at the swearing-in ceremony of the 2016 Batch B (Stream Two) corps members at M D. Yusuf Complex and NSCDC Training College in the state capital. Recall that NYSC held its 2016 Batch B (Stream One) orientation between Novembers 24th and December 14, last year, for over 200 corps members. “This second stream which metamorphosed into two camps with unprecedented number was necessitated by the great need to deal with the backlog of our young graduates who qualified for national service and have been yearning for mobilization, the state coordinator saiMr. Okpo, who assured that irrespective of the streams and camps, the overall objective of the orientation course is the same, said the achievements of the scheme in Katsina over the years would not have been possible without the support of the people and government of the state. In his address, Governor Aminu Bello Masari of the state, represented by his Special Adviser on Government House, Muntari Lawal, noted that there was water-tight security in every part of the state including the orientation camps. “This state has been adjudged to be the most peaceful in the country. Besides, there are no security challenges. However, government has always taken precaution to ensure that lives and property of the citizenry are secured,” Masari said. http://katsinapost.com/2017/01/27/katsina-govt-opens-second-camp-for-batch-b-stream-ii-corp-members/ |
Religion / Girl Disowns Church Over Suit Against Her Conversion To Islam In Katsina by Onyemadonald(m): 2:29pm On Jan 14, 2017 |
An alleged minor has disassociated herself from her church over lawsuit against her conversion to Islam. A girl, Habiba Ishaku , 18, on Wednesday disassociated herself from a suit purportedly instituted on her behalf by a foundation and the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) over her conversion to Islam. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the girl had eloped, embraced Islam and married one Jamilu Lawal in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State. Her father, Mr Ishaku Tanko , had gone to a Katsina High Court in collaboration with Trustees of Stefanos Foundation and ECWA to challenge the action, claiming that Habiba was a minor. During the court sitting on Wednesday, the judge, Justice Baraka Iliyasu-Wali , drew the attention of the plaintiff and defence counsels to a letter addressed to the court by Habiba, disassociating herself from the suit. In the letter, Habiba also disputed the claim that she is a minor, putting her age as 18. In his submission, counsel to the plaintiff, Mr Bawa Yakubu , urged the court to disregard the letter, arguing that since it was written in Hausa language, it should not be admitted as a document before the court. He insisted that Habiba was still a minor, and therefore not legally entitled to take such decisions on her own. However, the defence counsel, Mr Abu Umar, averred that the subject matter in the case was Habiba, who had written the letter to the court disassociating herself from the case. Umar maintained that the girl has the right to write to the court to inform it of her stand. The counsel further argued that since the letter was written in Hausa language and translated to the court in English language, then, it can stand as concrete document before the court. “Even if she is a minor as argued by the defence, there is no law that prevent a minor from expressing his or her views according to the Nigerian Constitution. “Habiba also told the court in her letter that she is 18 years and not 14 years, as been speculated,” he said, and prayed the court to accept the letter.” In her ruling, the judge said that Habiba would be summoned to appear before the court to explain whether she was the author of the letter or not. She adjourned the case to Jan. 25, for continuation of hearing. http://katsinapost.com/2017/01/13/in-katsina-christian-girl-disowns-church-over-suit-against-her-conversion-to-islam/

Politics / EFCC Arraigns Permanent Secretary In Katsina For Fraud by Onyemadonald(m): 10:42am On Jan 04, 2017 |
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission today January 3, 2017 arraigned one Sule Yusuf Saulawa, a parmanent secretary formally attached to the office of the Deputy Governor of Katsina State before Honourable Justice Sanusi Tukur of the Katsina High Court on a one count charge of Obtaining by False Pretense contrary to section 1(1)(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006. The accused person who is a permanent secretary in Katsina but currently without portfolio allegedly obtained the sum of N2,500,000 ( Two Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira Only) while he was attached to the office of the Deputy Governor of Katsina State from the complainant under the pretext that the then Deputy Governor’s office would award the complainant a contract for the supply of fertilizer to all the Local Government areas in Katsina State. Saulawa obtained the money under the guise that it is for the purchase of bidding documents. It was further alleged that after obtaining the money from the complainant, the accused person cut contact with the complainant. Investigation into the alleged fraud by the EFCC revealed through one Kabiru Dan-Asali who disclosed in his statement that he was present at the time the complainant, Musa Baba gave one Nasiru who is a boy to the complainant, the sum of N2,500,000 ( Two Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira Only) on behalf of the accused person. The accused person also confirmed this in his voluntary statement he made to the EFCC. Despite all this, the accused person pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him in court. In view of his plea, prosecution counsel, Sa’ad Hanafi Sa’ad requested the court for trial date and also asked that the accused person be remanded in prison custody. However, cousel representing the accused person Bashir Mohammed, moved a bail application praying the court to admit his client to bail pending the determination of the case. Hanafi objected the bail application on ground that the accused person if granted bail, would likely jump bail because he had once dishonored the administrative bail granted to him by the EFCC. He added that instead of admitting the accused person to bail, the court shall order for a speedy trial of the matter. The charge read that “You Sule Yusuf Saulawa while being the permanent secretary with the office of the Deputy Governor, Katsina State, sometimes in 2015 in Katsina, within the Judicial Division of the High Court of Katsina State with intent to defraud falsely obtained from one Alhaji Musa Baba, the Chairman of Many Agro Allied and Chemical Company Nigeria Limited and Diamond Fertilizer Nigeria Limited the sum of N2,500,000 (Two Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira Only) by falsely representing that the Office of the Deputy Governor of Katsina State would award him contract for the supply of fertilizer to all the Local Government areas in the state and asked him to purchase a bidding documents which would be given to him as soon as he writes a proposal offering best price to the State Government which he did, but which you knew all to be false and you thereby committed an offense contrary to section 1 (1)(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under section 1(3) of the same Act”. Justice Tukur remanded the accused person in prison custody and adjourned the matter to January 6, 2017 for ruling on bail application and commencement of trial. http://katsinapost.com/2017/01/04/efcc-arraigns-permanent-secretary-in-katsina-for-fraud/ |

Career / Leveraging The Power Of Internet For Wealth Creation by Onyemadonald(m): 1:21pm On Jan 02, 2017 |
Do you know that the internet contributes to over $2.2 trillion in annual retail sales? Or that the total number of WordPress users rivals the entire population of Turkey? The internet has now become such a force to reckon with, responsible for trillions of dollars in direct and indirect revenue annually, and understanding how it contributes to the growing world economy will only help your business grow. There was a time when the social media was considered a passing trend that’s only for the “tech savvy kids” and that it can never be used for anything serious like business or education, these skepticisms have been proven wrong overtime as there are 3.26 billion Internet users this December with more than 2 billion of them having active social media accounts. Social media can generate huge amounts of data about customer in real time, there are more than 1.79 billion monthly active users on Facebook that generate 4.5 billion likes daily, twitter has more than 500 million monthly users that generate over a 100 million tweets everyday. Instagram has a total of 600 million monthly active users and 300 million daily active users. The economic opportunities offered by the social media are huge if only used for the right purposes. The Internet is fortified with extremely powerful learning tools like YouTube with millions of video tutorial on nearly everything ,all that is required of a person is to have the entrepreneurial mindset and the will to learn and monetize these skills.. Popular social media platforms have now become marketing Giants offering SMEs with unique businesses tools responsible for the spontaneous growth of startups to million dollar empires in no time. A statistical study by the United Nations in 2014 showed a direct link between Internet penetration and drastic reduction of poverty. ThIe Internet is so powerful that you can use it to 1.learn s skill 2.develop it to a product or service 3. Market and sell it online. And this is not just another global phenomenon,it also applies to Africa and Nigeria in particular as we are leading in the continent with regards to Internet penetration breaking the record of 97.21 million internet users in 2016 according to NCC, we also have highest number of social media users, according to Facebook 16 million Nigerians visit Facebook monthly beating Sout. h Africa’s 12 million and Kenya’s 4.5 million monthly users. According to NCC 83% of Nigerians used the Internet for shopping in 2016 as the population becomes more internet savvy and price conscious, people now tend to want to do a thorough research on products and find best prices before throwing their monies around. With that being said I think it’s unwise for any Nigerian business owner to ignore the significance of building a comprehensive and meaningful online presence. Social media platforms provide a unique opportunity for small businesses to meet many prospective leads and convert them to loyal customers, it allows the businesses to gain free inputs from customers to enable businesses improve and grow. Small business have now with the help of social media become global brands and can sell across the globe with direct contact to unique customers. I will like to tell you of a sensational entrepreneur Gary Veynerchuck who took over his family’s wine shop and grew it from #3m to #60 million dollars in just 5 years using the Internet and ,he’s now an angel investor with investments in Facebook, twitter, uber and other big investments. Another interesting Internet success story is story of two sisters from Zimbabwe that started as for fun street photographers which later transformed to the biggest fashion blog in Africa and around the world, this blog later gave birth to a very unique African fashion label called Mafashio which was chosen in the top 10 fashion talents in the “Future voices ” completion. Online shopping platforms like Zuvaa are able to globalize African fashion by shining lights on Talented African designers and creating link between the designers and the global market. These are not just stories because I can personally relate to this important phenomenon,my brother an I started a clothing line about a year ago with the help of social media we made about 125 sales in 2 months nationally and internationally that’s equivalent to about N 625,000 ..now I’m not saying we are we we should be yet but we are working on improving and uplifting our capacity as a company ,this is all due to the effective utilization of these social media platforms. I know of a photographer that goes by the name Madugu Photography that started his business 9months ago, taught himself how to take pictures using YouTube, uses Instagram to promote his work and is now rubbing shoulders with big names in the photography business and this is all due to the effective utilization of the Internet and the social media. There is no excuse for being unemployed nowadays, use your internet wisely. The giant social media platforms recognize the unique needs of business which lead to the creation of special “for business features/ profiles”which “which allows businesses to add their Geo location, email addresses and contact numbers. There’s no excuse to being unemployed on this Internet age,all the resources required to build successful business is yours for the taking, all you need to do is use the social media effectively. http://katsinapost.com/2017/01/02/opinion-leveraging-the-power-of-internet-for-wealth-creation-by-naufal-ahmad/ |

Education / Lack Of Enough Staff Threatens Smooth Running Of Fed University, Katsina state by Onyemadonald(m): 3:19pm On Dec 22, 2016 |
In what appears to be the repercussion of the sacking of over 200 staff of the institution, shortage of lecturers and other important staff has hit the Federal University of Dutsin-ma, leaving newly admitted students stranded. It was gathered that the admission list for new students into 100 and direct entry students for 200 level that was made public three months ago are still yet to resume, due to the absence of lecturers that would ensure the success of their academic activities. Findings from staff and students of the institution pointed to the rash decision taken by the institution in terminating appointment of several qualified staff including professors, a development that is now bringing the institution to its knees. One of those spoken to who pleaded anonymity said that the situation is so bad that an entire department is having no single academic staff. “I suspect that the new students are yet to resume because of shortage of staff. In some departments like Food Science Technology, all the lecturers were sacked. In Political Science and Accounting Departments, several lecturers were also sent packing,” he added. Also speaking, a lecturer from the Faculty of Sciences, described the prevailing condition of academic staff as unfortunate. He explained that a lecturer who is supposed to take only one course at the moment, is handling between seven to eight courses. “We don’t have enough lecturers in the Chemistry Department where I am lecturing. A lecturer is handling seven to eight courses which is not supposed to be so,” he added. He said that all the hardship is as a result of the sacking of other lecturers for no just cause. When the Registrar of the institution, Aliyu Dalha Kankia was contacted on phone to respond to the development, he didn’t pick several calls put through to his GSM line, and did not return the calls. A text message was subsequently sent to his GSM phone, which he also failed to respond. It would be recalled that the Federal University of Dutsinma was one of those established by former President Goodluck Jonathan. www.katsinapost.com/2016/12/22/lack-of-enough-staff-threatens-smooth-running-of-fudma/ |

NYSC / Another NYSC Camp To Be Open In Katsina Next Year by Onyemadonald(m): 2:37pm On Dec 16, 2016 |
The NYSC state coordinator in Katsina, Mr. John Okpo, confirmed said in an interview with journalists shortly after the closing ceremony of the orientation course for all the corps members at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Katsina that no fewer than 373 out of the 2705 registered Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 corps members posted to Katsina State have been redeployed, at their request, to different states in the country. Okpo however disclosed that about 5000 corps members had been assigned to the state in the next batch, adding that the NYSC will open a second camp for the corps members at Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Training College in Katsina. “Our moderate achievement of the policy objectives of the orientation course within this period would not have been possible without the consistent assistance of the Executive Governor of Katsina State,” he stated. In his address, the State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, represented by his special adviser on youth development, Aminu Khalil Ibrahim, said his administration is making necessary effort to end the rejection of corps members by the state agencies as the federal government had issued a circular concerning the rejection of corps members by federal agencies. Masari also enjoined the corps members to adjust quickly at their places of primary assignment and interact with members of their host communities to find out their felt needs. The governor told the corps members that any of the identified problems could easily be articulated into award winning project, promised to encourage those who embark on individual community development of the state. On security in Katsina, he said: “There is a strong security apparatus throughout the state. The security arrangement is essentially to guide and protect you in your places of primary assignment.” www.katsinapost.com/2016/12/16/another-nysc-camp-to-be-open-in-katsina-next-year-read-where/ |
Politics / Police Flagged Off “change Begin With Me” Campaign In Katsina by Onyemadonald(m): 12:31pm On Dec 16, 2016 |
The police in Katsina on Thursday flagged off “Change Begins With Me” campaign and distribution of re-branded Public Complaint Rapid Response (PCRRU) flyers produced in five major languages. The commissioner of Police in Katsina, Usman Abdullahi, who spoke during the campaign at the state command headquarters, while launching the flyers detailing the anti-graft agenda of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris, said the exercise is meant for the benefits of Nigerians and to make the force more accessible to members of the public. He told the guests, police officers and men: “keying into the IGP’s laudable steps for the public to appreciate the need to continue to cooperate and support the force throughout the country in carrying out its constitutional duties and other tasks associated with the protection of life and property, the Katsina State command today launches the PCRRU flyers to take the message of the force closer to the populace.” CP Abcullahi said the PCRU is a unit in the force saddled with the responsibility of receiving and resolving complaints on professional misconduct emanating from policing activities and operations nationwide. “It is available and accessible 24/7 to receive complaints of members of the public. Seven different platforms have been provided by the unit, and inscribed on the flyers through which the members of the public can reach the units,” he explained. The commissioner also expressed gratitude to the people of the state for their timely and useful pieces of information that have led to so many successes in the command. In a goodwill message, the state chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, Mannir Atiku Lamido, lauded the police for the peace in the seven local government areas in the state that were hitherto a “battle ground” in the fight against cattle rustlers. www.katsinapost.com/2016/12/16/police-flagged-off-change-begin-with-me-campaign-in-katsina/ |
