Former President of Ghana, Jerry Rawlings, has died from COVID-19 complications.

According to an online source, the ex-president aged 73 died at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, capital of Ghana, on Thursday morning.

Prior to his death, Rawlings was a military ruler, who later joined politics and ruled Ghana from 1981 to 2001.

Former Vice President, Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. has won election as the nation’s 46th president, defeating the sitting president, Donald Trump.

He was elected the 46th president of the United States on Saturday 7th November, after narrowly emerging victorious from a contentious White House campaign that stretched days past election night.

The Associated Press called the race for Biden on Saturday when it said that Pennsylvania's 20 electoral votes put him over the 270-vote threshold needed to win the Electoral College.

Mr. Biden's win also provided a history-making moment for his running mate, Senator Kamala Harris of California, who will become the first woman to serve as vice president.

Mr. Trump is the first incumbent to lose re-election in more than a quarter-century.
