Na Yorubas. i think the last elections proved that it definitely ain't igbos coz then they were complaining about Nairaland manipulating the likes buttons to favour Buhari. And we all know those who favored Buhari's opponent 1 Like |

omenka: Lol. Are you minding the Biafraudsters? First of all they are slaves to the Nigerian state (only slaves cry for freedom , besides Nigeria terminated their first secessionist attempt so until we decide otherwise they are our slaves), they've been Northern slaves, politically, on more than one occasion, and lastly, they are ijaw slaves -- an ijaw man surpassed any office they have ever held in Nigeria's history by attaining the presidency for 6yrs via the ballot box -- so far Nigeria has yet to unanimously vote for an igbo They have vast experience as slaves to other ethnic groups, including minority ones, so don't be shocked by their slave mentality. |

remmyjunior: Look at it this way. Buhari has always won the NE and NW in previous elections and still lost till the last time. He won the presidency via close to 3-million votes, the SW gave him 2.4million votes (in spite of low voter turn out in the region). Now imagine the SW and its entire media and propaganda apparatus had not worked tirelessly to repackage Buhari's unflattering image (a la the implicating past statements about the boko Haram, extremist views, etc) and was in cohorts with the PDP to further hype that image, needless to say the same public opinion that was against him previously would have again prevented his victory (that's not to mention the SW delegates game-changing role in getting him the presidential ticket in the first place, against all the odds), now give those SW votes given to Buhari to GEJ in that last election, and I dare say that in such a circumstances GEJ would've, at worst, reckoned he had fighting chance of reelection coz the result would've been, at best, too close to call and forced a run-off election, or he would then have out rightly defeated Buhari, again. Remember SW denied gej vote bc he ignored them totally during his tenure. If buhari perform well in Yoruba land no bdy will even care abt tinubu's largesse. You just contradicted yourself somewhat by saying the SW denied GEJ reelection because he ignored them (not coz he did or did not perform), and now that the same SW may be feeling ignored again you now think Buhari's performance would not trigger a similar reaction also? Don't be naive please, this is politics we are talking about here. Till tomorrow, SE and SS folks feel GEJ performed enough to be reelected, yet their feelings weren't enough to get him reelected, in spite of the expensive media effort they expended to highlight his achievements in office. Politics and quality of alliances are what determine electoral victory in Nigeria, not necessarily performance, at least not yet 2 Likes |

betty202020: Lol. sorry, how old are you? Coz you come across as a naive kid. Mimiko is still fighting for relevance in his newly adopted PDP, yet you expect him to become SW leader? Lol. Sorry to bust your bubble but while he's a nice and likeable guy and all -- compared to Fayose for example -- he lacks the requisite charisma, loyalty, war chest, network, and stomach to fill that role. |

CSTR2: Pocket your trust boy coz it aint worth shyt politically and we really dont give a ffvck -- you all failed to reelect GEJ and are not even in reckoning politically as we speak and you are still yapping your mouth? Even with the current APC crises Yorubas are still better placed politically than your cursed lot. Like WTF? ? You people overestimate your importance, as sadly GEJ had to learn the hard way. Atleast Yorubas delivered and got Buhari there while you all destroyed GEJ |

Even the PDP is fighting hard to put Fayose on a leash coz of his unstable nature (that is if he doesn't soil his relationship with the new lawmakers so they dont impeach him), and you are expectibg him to "kick him out of control"? Tinubu and yorubas dont owe any fraternal allegience to you all or had any agreement with igbos so where does betrayal come in ? ? Yoruba and igbo destinies are not tied together,so play your politics and we will play ours. You cannot blackmail us into any selfish allegience so that you can later turn around and scream betrayal when you fail to have your way. Una never plenty reach -- E kere si number. |

chukwudi44: Good. Oya list the battles he won And don't forget the ultimate prize of dethroneing PDP and GEJ, after 16 years of misrule -- that alone should cancel out any setbacks politically. Heck I'll do it myself coz you no get liver: -Oyo was retained for the first time by an incumbent party -Osun was retained -Was responsible for ensuring that Mimiko, Oshimhole, Fayemi and Aregbe victory via the courts -Ensured Buhari won the APC presidential primaries -Successfully installed Fashola and Ambode -Single-handedly handpicked the VP (after ensuring the emergence of the Presidential flagbearer) -Denied GEJ his much-desired re-election 3 Likes |

989900: Lol. Chai! See finishing. Shukudi should go and read the interview Amaechi granted wherein he revealed how he knelt down for Tinubu not to abandon Buhari right before the primaries. Needless to say that if Tinubu had not rallied his troops on Buhari's side kwankwaso or Atiku would have clinched the Ticket and GEJ would have won reelection. Even Buhari and his wife have publicly attested to this much. These people forget so soon. It's becoming pretty obvious that Tinubu is feeling Betrayed by the North and unless the APC patches things up with him and his SW loyalists, Buhari's chances of reelection will be shaky at best. Politically, Tinubu will be fine as long as Lagos especially (and the SW APC structure by extension) remains under his heavy influence. He's a natural opposition leader anyways so that territory is familiar terrain. As long as he remains the SW region strongman, he'll always remain relevant. Name one single great kingmaker of his kind that never suffered any setback politically? A great politician of his mold always have their setbacks politically every now and then but they always bounce back. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Politics / Re: The Indigenous Ethnic Composition Of Lagos (1911-1950) by OoduaVanguard: 4:05am On Jun 21, 2015 |
LAGrejectIBO: They are a very funny bunch, I tell you. In 1950, Lagos population was 230,256 compared to ibadan's 452,196 (almost double) around the same time. In 1963, Ibadan had 627,380 compared to Lagos' 655,246 in the same year. Today, Oyo state is officially in the top 5 states with the highest population in Nigeria. From these figures it's obvious that Lagos isn't the only preferred major urban center for Yoruba settlement in the SW. 4 Likes 1 Share |

I really don't get the point the OP is trying to make with this. Lagos is in the SW region therefore it's a no-brainer that Yorubas would naturally move around within their region -- same way it'll be natural for an Imo state man to freely move around within other SE igbo states. Igbos and other ethnic groups only started migrating to Lagos in droves since the amalgamation, while the territory has always been within the natural Yoruba environment/ habitat and sphere of influence, even long before the advent of the Europeans. Yoruba history is deeply embedded in Lagos, so much so that there are lineages of kingship that stretch back into centuries. Can the same be said of any other group in Lagos asides the Yorubas? During the civil war there were virtually no Igbos in Lagos coz they all ran off to their real home where they truly belong -- the SE. They only started returning again after the war -- which goes to show that Lagos was never really their home to begin with, they are only in Las gidi to hustle and when shyt hits the fan they know where they truly belong. Why can't igbos build their own version or replica of Lagos in the East instead of trying to lay claim to it?? Or must you people move to Lagos to make it in life? Na wah for Una o. 23 Likes 2 Shares |

Me sef I get one or two more recent links wey I fit throw around to counter your bullsyht stats (http://www.360nobs.com/2015/03/10-poorest-states-in-nigeria-revealed-must-read/ and http://www.punchng.com/news/sokoto-katsina-top-list-of-poor-states/ -- no single Yoruba/SW state is on that list but SE represent wella ) but the FACTS on the ground don't lie! Your land is cursed with erosion, it is barren. No industries, no jobs, hence why your folks keep leaving that enclave in droves -- FACT! https://www.nairaland.com/2322312/ogun-state-nigerias-emerging-industrial Even your billionaires are not investing in the SE. Ifeanyi Uba has only ONE petrol station in the entire Anambra, his main investment concerns are located and situated in the SW. Ditto Emeka Offor, Ditto Arthur Eze, Ditto Coscharis. I visit the Anambra, Imo, Enugu threads and your people there are always attacking their rich people for fleeing the SE -- they simply refuse to invest in the SE!!!!! Even the Enugu Int'l Airport sef, they've refused to patronize it -- they would rather fly all the way to Lagos to board international flights that could easily be boarded at Enugu!! Before the Enugu Airport was upgraded you all boasted that it will take much traffic away from Lagos, yet they refuse to use it, is it the Yorubaman's fault? You people are just pathetic.
