Nigeria is supposed to be getting civilized and conscious of business integrity... Anyway when we have such porous government with no working regulatory body what do we expect?

ARE MTN THIEVES OR I'M SEEING DOUBLE?
I got a message yesterday afternoon from MTN, and they tagged it MTNJULYDEAL.
They asked that I recharge #2,000 within 3days and I'm gonna be be given 7GB with bonus 3.5GB worth of data. I have never trusted MTN and the package looked too good to be true. I don't use mtn for my data bundle cos I don't trust them and they just proved me right.
I decided to give them the benefit of doubt. Though still having subscription on my other sim, I recharged 2,000 and sent the text/subscribed as requested. After which my money was deducted. Lo and behold I was given only 3.5GB. Of course i use a cheaper data with airtel so why would I have to subscribe for mtn again if not cos of d deal?
I called the customer care line, and after much argument, the lady said she isn't aware of any promo or deal like that! To say I was angry is to say the least... This hard economic times MTN decided to bobo me. They cheated me in broad day light!
The customer care said there was only 3.5GB in my account and she doubts if the message I got was from MTN as they can't make such deals!
Attached are the screen short to botress my point!
I call on mtn to either credit my account with the said data or return my 2k... Not just back to my phone but to my account in cash as I had better things to do before I subscribed else I'll keep talking about your theifry to as many ears as wanna hear!!
This isn't fair
Screen short below

Pls help broadcast this till it gets to MTN. Enough of this stealing from the masses to enrich themselves...

Nice one OP, y didn't u come out Mr Nairaland?, u for beat all dis kpomo men silly. Back to the topic* if I tell u I pay 350 naira for last month u won't believe me. Two factors made dis possible; my meter n late night supply. D nepa man takes our meter reading twice in a month n frm its reading not much changes can be inferred by me cos it moves not than 3-6 units. Most light supplied is usually at nyt say 10pm till 6am so no much activity except to switch on my fan n sleep
Thanks Jare!!! leave politics for politicians jor...

Ensure distribution of prepaid meters to every home then come back and edit this rubbish you typed here.
Of course that is already ongoing! Big Kudos to Ikeja Electrics who has started that initiative giving free prepaid meters to all their customers.

Jungle Justice? Anyway the point was to educate us on how it works. It's not totally the fault of the distribution companies... Most times our aiding and abetting is the cause!!!

PoliticsWhy Your Nepa Bills Are Always This High!!! by Oooops(op): 2:36pm On Jul 04, 2016
WHY YOUR NEPA BILLS ARE ALWAYS THIS HIGH!!!
Very soon there will be a distribution of bills (If it has not started) to all of us using electricity from the various distribution companies, and ofcourse it is ineligible that some of us will be given high bills… Many of us as usual will curse ‘NEPA’ and vow to beat any of the staff when we see them. Hmmmm!
Before we start cursing and beating the next electricity distribution staff we see, let’s look at the major reason why our bills are always high (For those without meters)… I won’t talk of the usual reason we already know, but what we majorly don’t know…
Aside the fact that our electricity usage can be high due to our home appliances (FOR THOSE USING METERS), this article focuses on those not having any meter rather get ESTIMATED BILLS.
Now, most times, electricity distributed to our areas, street, etc. are measured. E.G if a street is being supplied by a transformer called DT (Distribution transformer), there is a meter used in measuring the amount of electricity supplied to that street from the transformer. When this electricity is supplied, it is expected to be accounted for in form of payments accordingly (Ofcourse all business aim is to make profit).
At the end of the month, those having meters are billed according to their meter reading (ofcourse prepaid has already paid for their usage hence theirs is excluded). What about those without meters? After those with meters are billed, the remaining energy is divided for payments amongst those without meters in the area to account for all energy.
E.G;
In Akpako Street, 200,000 worth of energy is supplied, at the end of the month, those with meters are removed. Say 30% of people have meter in the street. So remove 30% from 200,000 we have 140,000 remaining.
The remaining 140,000 as unaccounted energy is shared for the remaining occupants without a meter. Now WHY IS IT HIGHER THAN THOSE WITH METER?
Remember that we have people bypassing supply, people using free light, and others not having light during the day and by night you see them playing music and always having cold water. THOSE ARE THE PEOPLE MAKING YOUR BILL HIGH NOT NEPA (DISTRIBUTION COMPANIES).
Yes I said that… Your uncle down the road bypassing is one reason you have a high bill. It is Simple, since the distribution companies have supplied light to your street, and are expecting an amount commensurate with the supply, after removing the energy used by those with meter, they assume the remaining energy was used by the remaining customers without meter since they are not aware of anybody bypassing or using free energy, so it is shared and used in billing customer’s without meter.
So next time you wanna blame someone for high bills, Blame your Aunty’s children and REPORT BYPASS TO ENSURE ELECTRICITY BILL IS FAIRLY SHARED.
If this can be handled and energy theft is reported, people will pay lower for electricity and unnecessary estimation will be limited as those using electricity but not registered with the company will be caught, registered and pay for usage which will reduce what you pay for… Enjoy Your Break…

PropertiesBefore You Rent That House!!! by Oooops(op): 1:43pm On Jul 02, 2016
This is especially for my brothers and sisters in the everyday hustle... Lagos as a case study!
After gathering money for months and you finally decide that you want to rent another apartment and upgrade your status, which is of course a very good thing! Please put this into consideration!
This is an advice from my few months experience staying in Lagos and meeting with clients... Now enough of much talk!

Please, When you get that dream house of yours, I know d compound is cool, the rooms are big, and the neighbour's daughter is very pretty! But NEVER FAIL TO ASK FOR THE NEPA BILL/PREPAID RECEIPT OF THE HOUSE.

This is my point... I've seen many people rent a house after which they receive their bills for the next month and see an arrears of hundred's of thousands... some even more than the money used in renting the house! Trust me... NEPA bills are attached to properties and not individuals hence a former tenant can accrue debts and move out of the apartment while u Innocently go and rent it. The agents/Landlord will not show u the bill... You have to insist on seeing it.. else the bills will be on you as the new tenant and you will be held liable by NEPA... Afterall na u dem meet there...

This also applies to prepaid users. You may feel its prepaid meter... Some of those meters have accrued arrears. This is how it works. When a bill owes so much, and a prepaid meter is bought or given to the premises, The debts from the bill is factored into the prepaid meter and scheduled to be paid within a specific period of time, E.G

Benson owes 200k before he got a prepaid meter, NEPA (d distribution companies) wants to assist Benson since he can't clear it once, They factor the money into his meter say for 20months... That means Benson will be paying 10k as debt every month aside his normal recharge for the month!
So Benson moves out and you move in to meet a prepaid meter which makes you happy, only to recharge and discover you have a debt of 10k which you are to pay every month for a long time!!!

This you should put into consideration cos I have seen so many people in debt not incurred by them.

Have a lovely weekend

I may have a different concept of how I pay tithe and I wanna know if I'm wrong....

I get my Salary say 50k...
I then calculate and remove my basic needs for that month (feeding and transportation) say 20k,

Then the remaining cash I remove one tenth from it for my tithe...
Is this practicable? is it acceptable? Bible scholars kindly assist because I wanna be sure I'm/have been doing the right thing...
Thanks

My landlord just delivered a letter from his lawyer notifying us of a 20% increase in rent due to sharp increase in the cost of building materials.

Nairalanders, this is a house built over 5yrs ago! am using 5yrs atleast to be fair!!!

How can cost of materials now lead to an increase in rent for a flat that wasn't just built?

Pls what do i do? should i confront him? should i write back? Paying that will amount to about 500k plus and the house isn't worth that much in a place like Bariga!

Candid advice needed
