Hi. Afew weeks ago, on another thread, you asked people to indicate interest in cultivating some of these same crops. You asked for contact addresses and size of land available. Haven't heard anything since then o. |
I have a couple of large white gilts for sale.Ready to cross, average weight is 70kg. Anyone interested can give me a call on 08099717054. Location is ibadan. |
I have 50 broilers, barely a week old. Will be table size by dec 22nd. Location is ibadan. My number is 08099717054. |
If you want 15 acres, mayb u should just get it all in one location instead of buying d two acres. I'll make enquiries 2moro when I get to d farm. U can give me a call in d evenning. |
I use bakers' yeast as well, but both sows still had diarrhea so I just stopped the creep feeding. What probiotic do u use? |
Ok. Ijebu ode is kinda far. Almost the same thing with obj's farm when I factor in transport costs. eazeefix:Do u use farrowing crates? Or how do u prevent ur sow from eating d creep feed & d ensuing bouts of diarrhea? |
Btw, Eazeefix, do you have any landrace boar for sale? In the region of 60-70kg. I kept one from the last set I sold only to discover he has just one testicle. I see peppersoup in his future. ![]() |
@ OP I think we should try and be realistic when trying to encourage people to go into farming. I have serious issues with most of your points here based on experience and that makes me sceptical about the others. N2,000,000 from an acre of cassava? I don't knw how you came about such a figure. Even processed I doubt u can make that much before u now factor in cost of production. I have acres of cassava so I'm talking hard facts. You are trying to encourage people; that's good. But make realistic projections. I only picked cassava because its d most glaring. |
eazeefix:Yea, it appears easy enough. Where is your farm? Mayb we can rub minds practically on this A.I thing when the time comes. |
A.I or old school breeding? I do it d old fashioned way myself but intend to start a.I nxt year. |
@ Eazeefix. Personally, I only keep sows that that give minimum of 10 live births each farrowing. But I think this should vary according to breed. |
goludayo:U can get bloodmeal at bodija. Just go to the abbatior section. goludayo:How many weaners do u need? I have large white. |
My apologies to any1 who called & my number wasn't available; network on the farm is 50-50. I can be reached from 5pm. |
A documented agreement btw the original owner & d current owner as prepared by his lawyer & signed by both parties & witnessed by d village head. |
Ok. This particular one is 2 acres. My farm is in d area sha so I knw most of d families that have land. If you need more than that let me knw. |
08099717054. Its best u call from 6pm, anytimé b4 that I'm likely to b on d farm. @amarawa. Its 50-50. This years rainfall has defied logic. Personally, I think chances are good. |
From Iwo road driving towards Ife, you turn off the express @ fasade. (Its the turning after iyana ajia or 2 turnings after egbeda). How far with your project? I sent an email but haven't got a reply. |
world1: Nigeria mentality at work there is demand for the product in large quantity. The major thing you need is not market but demand.Ok, so if I were to plant mushrooms, where & how would I sell them? I'm askin because I don't recall any market where its sold in large quantity as such. |
I bought 419 variety from IITA last year february. If you are interested I can get you some stems from my farm but I'm based in ibadan. |
No "omo-onile" issues. I have 7 acres right beside it and the villagers are very accomodating. |
Two acres of farmland for sale in ona-ara lga, Ibadan. It comes with title documents and very secure. Right beside motorable road. If interested you can call me on 08099717054. |
solojay2002: I have a piggery farm and I think the problem I have been having is the market, I have two breeds of Hampshire and Duroc. Anyone who have a good market here should please furnish me with information to marketLike how many kilos r u lookin to sell & where are u located. |
jimmysho: House I need answers to this questions;1. Price of weaners depends on the breed. Local breeds go for around N2000-N2,500 while u can get large white for N8,000. I think ssomeone said on this thread that he bought his weaners for N15,000. U can check previous pages to b sure. 2. Landrace pigs have longer torso hence more meat. I sold one last year that weighed 280kg. U might try that breed. 3. Answered already 4. Depends. Live meat is sold @ an agreed rate, usually btw N250-N300 per kg. I don't know about butchered meat. 5. Depends on your location. Prbly there is someone on this thread around u that can recommend. 6. Yes, diff rations, depending on age. 7. This is difficult to answer o. On paper, yes it might b economical. Practically, mayb not as much. Try and get cheaper alternatives in your locality that have the same or similar nutritional attributes. Any good feedmill around u should av a chart of diff items & their nutritional makeup. 8. Yes, depending on breed, feeding & care. 9. Can't really say. While breed might play a part in level of fat, I think its more a factor of wat u feed. 10. Answered already. You might also consider sun drying. Whichever is more convenient. 11. LOL. Bros, how many pigs do u want to cook for? 12.Quality & economical feed; u prbly av to make dat one by urself. 13. Both |
@ Immortalz Sorry o bros. Are they gilts or sows? I had the same problem with a gilt once but after a regimen of drugs it took in two cycles later. Nothing special, just LA, follwed by deworming immediately b4 serving. Also, the boar you are using, is he tested?( I mean has he sired previously.) And did you actually see them mate? The loss of weight might b side effect of the drug u used. |
FarmTech: ..Internal consumption of pork is NOT zero. Because of traditional/ religious bias in some parts of the country, demand for pork is low relatively but in areas where such bias doesn't exist there is a huge demand. That's why traders from the south-south are constantlylooking for pigs to buy. Also, even in areas where the locals aren't interested, non-indigenes do consume pork. |
@Dejia. I sent you her number the other day. Check your mail. If you need an intro, u have my number. |
femu: My friend the existing associations are dormant, we need something better for the following and more reasons. My friend, I'm not sure I agree with you that these assosciations are dormant. I've had first hand experience of two seperate assosciations in action and in those instances, their responses were commendable. They are also in a better postion to enagage government in discussion because of the size of their membership. Why re-invent the wheel? Instead of setting up parallel bodies why not join and try to bring fresh ideas. Just my thoughts really, I'm not here to campaign on behalf of any soceity, existing or otherwise. With respect to the other reasons you listed, I think most of them require private investors (vaccines, farrowing crates etc). |
@Dejia. Nicely said but don't you think an assosciation formed here will be a little difficult to run? Posters here are from different states and I would think the major problem will be arranging meetings. I think most of the issues you raised can be handled by existing assosciations. I know there is one exclusively for pig farmers & at least two others for farmers generally but also include livestock. All have ,more or less, nationwide presence and despite what you might think, they are quite active when the interests of their members are threatened. |
Ok. 10x. |
Ok, I will. By the way, how much is bakers' yeast? |
@ Lagbaja: 9ce. But this research was on cassava based feed. Anything to suggest it will work for spent grain? I should think there's some residual yeast in spent grain from the brewing process. |
excelsiorfarm: ops d guys on ground can came to harvest/pack their fishes over d weekend aim told@Excelsior: Really? So all is well now then? |
