bankmoney:Hi. If you want to accuse me of something, maybe you should come out and say it. I don't know you so I wonder what you are implying. |
N3,000 per acre. |
A piglet (weaner) should be between N2000 and N10,000 depending on the breed & who you are buying from. In some cases, it might be more. |
It depends on breed. A fully grown pig can weigh anything from 60kg to 300 kg. |
FarmTech:The leasing option is available. funstufz:The land is as secure as humanly possible. I don't know what you'd refer to as "main road". If you mean expressway, its far; about an hour plus. Cocoa, oil palm, plantain, cassava & maize are abundant in the area. Some farmers also plant pepper, tomatoes & vegetables. Other charges do apply; commission, survey (your choice but advisable), documentation. |
Oil palm has seasons. While it fruits almost throughout the year, between late january (sometimes february) and july (extends atimes to august) oil palm fruits are in abundance so palm oil and all other derivatives or by products are cheaper. |
50 acres of virgin farmland is available for sale in ladutan village (ona-ara l.g.a), accessible through ife-ibadan expressway or through akaran road. It is right beside a river so it is good for irrigation. It is a direct sale from the original owners, as such the buyer will prepare his/her documents which will be acknowledged by the village head (baale). Interested parties can call me on 08099717054. |
Where in ibadan? |
silvercute:Sorry, but I'm based in ibadan. I don't know anything about farmland in ogun state. |
Brewery waste is no go area, better source for any of these feeds; cadbury waste, guiness waste, sona waste, nestle waste.any of the listed feed I mentioned should be added to pkc and also d use of wet blood and u can put in your listed compounded alongside to get a balanced diet for ur pigs. Moreso dunno if u deworm ur animals and treat them wit multivitamin, iron and others. Hope this helps Guiness is a brewery, so is sona (breweries) so the by product from both of them is still brewery waste. The difference between brewery waste and what you have from cadbury or nestle is the percentage of each food component (ie protein, carbs etc). You can't write off brewery waste without knowing the individual's location. Also, wet blood is dangerous as feed. In some advanced countries, its even illegal. Apart from the risk of contamination, there is also the possibility of it making your animals wild. Blood meal is the safer option. |
Double post |

cornerstone2019:Dear cornerstone,Have you read previous posts on this thread? If you haven't, please do. And if you have, I admire your determination but from experience ( and also that of many others documented here) I won't advice you to plant cassava unless you are into processing. Talkless of planting with borrowed money. |
Wow. You mean you haven't gotten since last year? How many acres do you need? |
You haven't given enough information, ie, where are you based, where you school & other relevant information. Ordinarily, I would say you should be more concerned with school for now but I knw circumstances can b different. Like I said, provide more info for folks who might b interested. |
Sent it already. Or nairaland's email stuff doesn't work anymore? |
@ nixandastores. Ok, sending you an email so we can discuss. |
NixandaStores:@ Nixandastores;Unripe plantain bunches or as dried chips for flour? |
amokemi:Seconded. Though I've never had dealings with Mr Yusuf, my previous conversations with Madam Jethro leave no doubt in my mind that this is a simple misunderstanding probably aggravated by circumstances. I hope Amokemi has been able to calm your tempers. Both of you have a lot of followers on nairaland. Please don't disapoint them. More grease to both your elbows. @ Amokemi ; Blessed are those that make peace for they shall be called sons of God. |
jimmysho:I agree with Femu. 2 hardworking men will do, with proper management. Maximum shld b 3, and that is making room for the rate at which pigs will give birth. There factors to be considered though e.g level of technology involved in your housing/ feeding. |
Bros softly o. I am not a guru, I'm a simple man like you making a living. U can send me an email, I'll reply to d best of my abilities. I believe Dejia left his number & email somewhere in the thread. For the others, try sending an email. I've tried it, It works. |
Please, does anyone have an idea where I can get fired local earth blocks/ bricks? I want to use them for construction of a farm house. Any producer in the southwest will do. |
If the land has been cleared, then manual uprooting should be more cost effective. The cost per tree stump will depend on your location. Around my farm in ibadan, the average cost is around N750 per stump, but like I said, the price will vary from place to place. Hope this helps. |
Interesting.....waiting for more details. |
obasy09:Seconded. Also, your location. |
Can't you state the price here for all to see?[/quote *double post* |
olaleg:Price of weaners depends on breed; from N2000 to around N10,000. Gilts & boars are sold for btw N280-N350 per kg. Brewerers mash, depending on your location, you can get direct from breweries or buy from middle men (either wet or dried). Dried spent grain here in ibadan is around N11,000 per ton. |
Porscheshek:To the best of my knowledge, dried plantain chips or the flour isn't sold in most markets in oyo state, probably because of demand. Farmers that deal in it usually deal direct with those that bag. You can get plantain in markets around farm areas @ around N300-N400 for a fairly big bunch. The price however varies with season. Madam Jethro, I hail o. |
Over a week with no activity on this thread that was once so vibrant. I guess everyone has moved to the bbm group. Can we have a discussion on alternative food sources for our pigs? While the price of carbohydrates (cassava/brewery waste) is more or less stable, the price of fats/oil (pkc) is getting quite alarming! Mention has been made on previous pages of moringa leaves as a source of protein & vitamins. Also, cassava leaves contain about 25% crude protein hence (with proper care because of hcn levels) can be a good supplement . Any options to P.K.C ? |
jeffmyson:@jeffmyson. Personally, I can testify to the price of soyabeans. It is correct. Price of tomatoes fluctuates a lot in production areas so you have to take that into consideration. All things said, I think Jethro is doing a great job with this thread. |
U r welcome sir. |
@bigproject. Ok. Thanks a lot for the update. |
