chillex8:OK, thanks alot. |
Good afternoon I have a 2007 Honda pilot which I've been driving the last 4 years. Early this month I started experiencing loss of power after slowing down for bumps. Since it was close to service time I decided to do a full service; changed oil, oil filter, air filter and spark plugs. The loss of power still occurs whenever I come to a stop and is now accompanied by high rpms ( sometimes as high as 2000) and very serious vibrations. I have a small scanner which gave 3 codes; P0141 P2647 P0112 The mechanic has cleaned the throttle body ( twice , in place and removed) , the EGR , the MAP sensor and the manifold. After each round of cleaning, the codes where cleared but after 10-15 minutes driving the vibration and high rpm return when I stop the car. Please , any ideas? |
THEPACIFIST:Good evening. If your dog is still available I'm interested. I ve in Ibadan. |
iyb:Your list is obviously wrong; you even included maize!!! The only items on your list I haven't seen grown in the west are ginger, tiger nut (don't know what that is), seseme seeds and gum arabic. |
fiddzy:Pnuemonia usually comes with wheezing. Use Tylosin, it should stop in a day or two. |
shawnz:Use oxytocin. 1 or 2 ampules should be enough , depending on the size of your sow. |

Hello..... |
smokey12345:First, try read everything on this thread from page 1; there are lots of valuable information here. Secondly, with what you have, you'll have to rent a place for starters. You didn't say where you're based but I hope there are places you can rent nearby. Also, don't start with too many pigs; your N600k is going to cover all your expenses for like a year & piggery can be capital intensive. |
I sent you a pm. Its nothing shady, quite simple really and something an ijesha man can relate to. |
Actually, most of Iseyin is sandy-loamy. Also, Ibarapa and parts of Iddo all in Oyo state. |
lanre2009:Tatia, your N2,200 per head monthly sounds about right, depending on what you're feeding with etc. Yes, three grown pigs can share 8'x8' room but that depends on how big you expect them to be. At 70-80 kg, you're good to go but larger than that I'm not so sure. For expected profit, you've almost finished the maths; you've arrived at a reasonable feed cost per head. Add your other variables and get total cost. For income, just multiply your target weight by N300-N350 per kg. |
opolo:To the best of my knowledge, yes. I used to buy imported bloodmeal in Lagos but I haven't bought this year because of the exchnge rate. I don't think it has been banned though. |
Healthilyea:Like Donnie said, looks very much like mange. You can treat your pregnant sow with any of the ivermectin range, depending on how advanced the pregnancy is. To be safe treat from 3 month into the gestation period or two weeks to delivery to avoid transfering to piglets. For Ivermec, you'll only need to do this once as it stays in the system longer than the incubation period of the mange eggs. But for Tectin, Ivermectin etc you will have to repeat 10-14 days after first treatment. |
eniolaamoda:Exactly! I actually thought that was the final episode. |
femu:I agree, we all should be able to afford the good things of life. I only mentioned the export potential as a factor of the exchange rate, I'm fully aware of the stringent export requirements. Anyway, my thoughts are more of economics which isn't the scope of this thread. |
@ femu While I'm not against your facebook campaign, I think equating the price of 1kg pork to $1 is a little flawed. I'm not saying the pricing can't be better but you should be looking at the REAL value of the price (N280-N300) as against dollar value; some economists are actually asking for devaluation of the naira which indeed has its advantages (e.g nigerian pork will actually be cheaper in the international market so it can be an export item once safety standards are met). |
dhejaavu:Hi. I'm in ibadan but I'm not sure what exactly you mean by "train". You can send me a pm though, I'll be glad to help anyway I can. Cheers. |
Can I get 30 hectares with electricity? |
@Akhis : Reuben is right, its probably hernia. It won't affect the pig in anyway though, apart from the extra "load". Just leave it alone. don't try castrating it, might lead to complications. Also, if you have options, don't use it to cross; you don't want to continue that bloodline. |
Ok. Salt and multivitamins are about 0.5% each. Some people prefer injecting multivitamins @ 3-4 day intervals. Depends on you. Check out the first two pages of this thread, Lagbaja gave a very detailed analysis of feed composition. Just substitute your fufu waste for the cassava. |
akhis:If that is what is readily available in your location, yes. Just try and balance the diet(s). You'll need to add some vitamins to that diet. Depending on the age of your pigs, also consider some concentrate containing lysine, methonine etc. Probably fishmeal and/ or bloodmeal. Just small rations, based on age. Also, don't forget your salt. |
Missfads:I'm based in ibadan. I believe there are others (can't rmbr usernames). |
Yes it is. endy231: |
You can put gilts/ sows together without any issues, as long as they are roughly same size so they don't bully each other when feeding. For boars, as long as they were raised together its ok too. But I wouldn't advise putting strange boars together. Also, even when raised together, 1ce you have removed any of them (probably to mate) don't return it. They will likeky see it as a stranger/competitor so fighting will follow. I'm not talking about play fight o; I mean serious "I won't leave you till you die" fight. |
shangodele:Yes, it is possible but I don't think its advisable. If your boars decide to fight instead of mate, u will probably end up with dead pigs. The ideal is a boar & a sow but If you are having space constraints mayb u shld put 1 boar with 2 sows. Two active boars in the same room is asking for trouble. |
@oluks. Not necessarily. Farmland prices can be that low but depends on location and other factors. |
kingjerrydan:LOL. This your post reminds me of that joke about nigerians answering questions with questions. On a serious note, I think its easier if you just state your terms so that anyone interested can contact you. |
@ archjoe. The only time I've noticed pigs cough is after inhaling wrongly (feed, water) so I'm not too sure what to say. Cough is a bacteria so maybe you should try anti-bacteria. Better yet, consult another vet. hope u've isolated the affected animals from the rest. As per landrace,I don't have any weaners right now. |
boluwajokosegun:My farm is after egbeda. Like I said, I've been doing that for awhile. I'm not the only one sef so I'm wondering why you sound surprised. |
@ Niyoga. My farm is in ibadan. Presently, I don't have weaners sha till May. |
I doubt if these guys are actually serious pig farmers. If they think his terms are ridiculous, let them pay a visit to Obj's farm. -i guarantee them the price will be higher. I've bought pregnant sows from there so I know. -they will never allow anyone in. If you don't like the way they do business, walk away. People should try and make their investigations before coming online making false accusations. Fyi, I've been selling large white weaners for N8,000 for two years now so there is nothing new there. |
