Lol @ my Oga's response. @ OP, when did this issue start, was there any prior work done on the vehicle? A lot can produce the symptom you are having e.g your car not starting off from Gear 1, weak engine, weak fuel pump, blocked exhaust system etc. Take your vehicle to a reputable technician in your locality for a comprehensive Diagnosis. |
NgcoboP:If you test drive both, the pencil light won't be an option. But being far less complex electrically, the Camry might tick your boxes IF it is a well maintained Naija used. |
Which of the Honda's do you need? I have a 2005 civic MT for sale. |

@OP, your Rav4 is powered by the ECU of Toyota Estima (Previa). Due to the factory defect in the default ECU leading to its subsequent high demand, our brothers resorted to the modification of a similarly designed ECU. What you are experiencing now is one of its after effect. The only way out is taking the advice offered by Gazzuzz. |
Finally my Oga has time for holiday. That's a good one. Brother Timi, well-done for a job well done. |
Our brothers have nearly perfected the art of selling 1AZ engine as 2AZ, I have seen such in my workshop. Just as Gazzuzz said, that will be the case in your "new" engine. The resultant effect is a louder and lazy engine, noticeable when driving. |
J0hnTrevolt:Just seeing your message Sir. My workshop is as stated in my signature (Nnewi). I only do jobs in Owerri strictly on invitation but also have customers who come from Owerri regularly. |
Bros only you typed both question and answer. What else do you want us to do? |
@OP, As a technician who also handles the vehicle in question, I only gave you what I believe is an honest opinion. Calm down and read through again. Please do not be offended. Thanks |
@OP, the response to your first question is YES. As for the cost, NOBODY can give it to you online. Golf 4 parts are fairly cheap, but if this restoration is not done properly, then you just signed a contract with your village people. Do you have an electrician and mechanic who is experienced with VW products? If no, then consider selling the car as suggested by Gazzuzz. The vehicle in question is not your regular Toyota corolla. |
J0hnTrevolt:A thorough diagnosis will identify the cause of excessive fuel consumption and the needed corrective measures. You may bring it in for a free diagnosis by this weekend, but with a 24 hours notice. |
Kindly include the wheel (abs) speed sensors and the AT filter. |
Dear OP, Where as there is a check engine sign on your dashboard, the first thing to do is to have the car scanned and and the transmission diagnosed. Then you may post the scan results here for further interpretation. Your car is currently not among the list of coverage by Gazzuzz, but knowing who he is, he may still be of assistance. Was any job done on the car before this issue started? |
Hmmmmm, before we conclude that your wife is Siennaphobic, I would suggest you also ride with her in similar vehicles like Honda Odyssey, Kia Sedona/Carnival, Toyota Picnic, Nissan Quest and the likes. If symptom persists then we can conclusively say her phobia is MPV oriented. If not, then seat her down and dig into the past for an experience in the said vehicle that may be affecting her psyche. |
