I have nothing to say about this supposed men of God. They work hand in hand with politicians, Adeboye is an example. But if recent, VDM seem to have left politicians and police and focused on men of God. Tinubu is Yoruba and from the South-West. Nobody is disputing that. But what exactly does that have to do with the historical record of military coups in Nigeria?

Let me refresh your memory and school you in the coups.

January 1966: The coup led by young officers, including Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu and Emmanuel Ifeajuna and Adewale Ademoyega resulted in the deaths of Prime Minister Tafawa Balewa, Ahmadu Bello and other prominent figures. (Mostly northerners were killed)

July 1966: Northern officers staged a counter-coup, overthrowing and killing General Aguiyi-Ironsi and Lt. Col. Adekunle Fajuyi. Yakubu Gowon became Head of State.

1975: Murtala Mohammed overthrew Gowon who is also a northerner.

1976: Buka Suka Dimka attempted to overthrow Murtala Mohammed and killed him, but the coup failed. (Northerner to northerner)

1983: Muhammadu Buhari helped overthrow Shehu Shagari, a Northern president.

1985: Ibrahim Babangida overthrew Buhari. Both were Northern officers. Apparently, even the military's internal politics did not always respect the North-versus-South script you are trying to sell us.

1990: Gideon Orkar attempted to overthrow Babangida. (Note, ONE NORTH as benues affliated with northerners)

1993: Sani Abacha removed Ernest Shonekan's interim government.

Now, tell me, where exactly does this history support the simplistic narrative that military coups were always Northerners fighting Southerners?

And regarding the alleged plot against Tinubu, prosecute the individuals against whom evidence exists. If they are Northern officers, establish their identities and roles with evidence. But do not turn allegations against individuals into a criminal indictment of an entire region. Even this current coup, an Igbo man was indicted and some of the officers are Yoruba even from Osun State.

Now, here is the real question, when a government struggles to convince citizens with its record in governance, is it not politically convenient to redirect public attention towards ethnic rivalry, historical grievances and emotional divisions?

Nigerians have legitimate concerns about the cost of living, purchasing power, security, employment and economic opportunity. Those issues deserve serious answers, not endless attempts to turn citizens against one another like APC is known for. I am claiming that most discussion of ethnicity by APC is a deliberate distraction. I am saying that we should examine whether political actors are using ethnic sentiments to divert attention from their responsibilities.

My brother, you can support APC, PDP, Labour or any other party you choose. That is your constitutional right. But please, do not confuse party loyalty with historical knowledge. A party is not a football club, and a politician is not your biological relative. You are allowed to question your own side.

If your argument is sound, history will support it. If it requires you to ignore inconvenient historical facts, perhaps the problem is not the person correcting you perhaps it is the argument itself.

Next time, bring the evidence before bringing the emotions. It will save you the embarrassment of confidently arguing against the very history you are trying to explain.

The NAF ATR-42MP is a purely ISR aircraft and has been used for operations in the north east severally. Stop displaying your ignorance. NAF ATR-500MP is the version of the same aircraft that has enough sitting arrangements to carry upwards of 50 people.
Civilians have no business being on such a sensitive military aircraft. I can show you reports of the very day that aircraft got inducted into service and the role clearly defined for it. I still maintain that airplane was being abused and utilised for purposes it wasn't intended for.

That plane was the airborne command centre overseeing operations and providing intel of terrorist activities for operation Lafiya Dole and Operation Hadin Kai. Yet instead of that plane to be in Yola where it was meant to be, the Airforce was using it to fly personnel and thier friends who had no business in that aircraft and who wanted to avoid paying for commercial flight tickets around.

That plane had a crew of 8 and the plane was purely meant for Intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. Why was it carrying 25 people? Why were civilians onboard?
