2k per month in the uk is far More preferable
It opens doors for many other opportunities abroad due to the environment....
Besides after taxes and all you can still save at least 100 pounds a month and just send it back to your naija account at home, that's at least 200k naira in savings monthly.... undecided
Can u save more than a 100k monthly from a 500k monthly salary here in Nigeria?
When you factor in food, bills, transport, inflation, electricity tariffs and all
Both amounts are after taxes o

LuckyLadolce:
If both figures are net salary, 500K is good in Nigeria and 2k is good in the UK if you are single or just starting a family and have no debt you are servicing. Its all about how well you can efficiently manage your income. However, the exposure that comes with the UK opportunity can't be compared to that of Nigeria. In addition, you can have another part time job in the UK if you can withstand the stress. In most cases, same cant be said about Nigeria. Nigeria is a great place for people who can come up with business ideas cos there are plenty of opportunities in Naija. Mind you, if you chose to go to the UK, your first month rent might cost you around 1,200 pounds (for a single person living outside London). This is because you will pay deposit that is equal to your main rent (most times) when paying your first rent. Subsequently, your monthly rent should not be more than 600 pounds (All bills inclusive). Only you can not finish 100 pounds foods in a month. Your monthly Tfare cant cost more than 90 pounds if you use public transport (You can do monthly sub). Give or take, you will likely have 700 to 800 pounds left. That is enough savings for future project you might have in mind to do back home. Just stay focus if you chose to travel to UK and don't be tempted to start collecting iPhone and other flashy items on credit.

Note: there may be slight difference in expense depending on the area. for instance, the 600 rent mentioned above may be 650 or 700 in some cases. And some may even be less than 600. It all depends.

Wishing you the best.
Thank you 🙏

it was the original poster who said you would have 1700 expenses out of 2000. Note that 1700 GBP quality of life in the UK would beat 500k NGN quality of life in Nigeria.

your savings do not matter as they aren't expenses. you can choose to spend your 300 GBP savings in Nigeria and spend your 100k NGN savings in the UK.
Really funny 🤣🤣 thanks 🙏

Let me give my elderly advice. Let's analyze it based on the current reality of Nigeria.

As a man in this current economy, 500k can't sustain a family of 3, assuming you have a wife and a child.

Even if you are single, you can manage to go by 500k. Using myself as an example. I work from home. And I make an average of 450k-500k. Just last month here, I made 540k. But averagely, my earnings revolve around 450-550k. But I am not still satisfied even as a single guy.

I will advise you to move if the job of the 2000 pounds is already waiting for you. Below are the reasons why I will advise you to go for the UK job:

1. You will get more international exposures and recognition

2. You will be exposed to more opportunities, growth and personal developments

3. You will gain more international experiences

4. Career wise, you will add more values to yourself and CV

5. You will have more career growth

6. You will have more value for your money and standard of living

7. Your life expectancy will increase and you will live in less fear and worries

8. You will have the opportunity to become a permanent resident and possess dual citizenship in the future

So on and so forth.

Go for the UK 2000 pounds job if there is room for career growth in your job. With time, your earning will increase.

Thank you for this objective response.

It all depends on various factors as many have already said. Are you single, married no kids, married with kids? Where would you live in UK/Nigeria? 500k in Benin, Asaba, Kaduna, Kano....is quite different from 500k 8n Lagos, Abuja, PH. Same thing in UK 2k on London is not the same as 2k in Sheffield. Bottom line no straight forward answer.
Single with 2 kids to cater for.

raskymonojendor:
If this is earnings after tax and deductions, rent would gulp atleast half of 2000 pounds. Followed by another 400 in bills. You will still be left with maybe 600 to save.

If this is before tax, you would receive about 1600 after tax, then you can now remove your mandatory expenses.

As for 500k, it's somewhat similar spending power in Nigeria.
This sounds like it and also it's after tax and outside London

Except that our minimum wage is not adequate for a decent life while theirs is. The real question is, is this person living in London or elsewhere?
Outside London

Femiairboy:
That depends, is this pre tax or post tax? Also where in Nigeria/UK are you living in. Do you have a family? Overall i believe N500K is sufficient in Nigeria, that’s N6M a year. A 3 bedroom apartment in Lagos on average is about N2.3M, you still have about N4M. £2000 might seem like a lot but taxes and rent will eat deep into it.
This is after tax.

I like you .Straight up
Are you married?
doggedfighter:
What do I do?, you asked?

And I ask ' how do you feel about this whole thing?

Do you like it?

Are you interested?

If no, tell her in strong terms that you have moved on, so you both should face your family and partners.

But if yes, go ahead listening, analysing, sympathising and rendering the needed assistance in cash and even in kind.

YOU CAN ASSIST AN EX. Yes !

I always say, the only danger in sleeping with a married person is being caught by an angry husband, boyfriend or wife.

Nothing more.

No spiritual, traditional or whatever implications.

It's all in your hands now !
