Olaopefola: Lawmaker representing Kazaure/Roni/Gwiwa Constituency of Jigawa State, Hon. Mohammed kazure Gudaj, have allegedly revealed the reason lawmakers booed at President Muhammadu Buhari during 2019 budget presentation.
In a video interview, he said the president is not corrupt hence did not bribe the NASS members which is why the PDP members were booing him. He also said his colleagues have been asking him "Your president didn't send anything?"
Yahaya Bello, governor of Kogi Sstate, has described the lawmakers who booed President Muhammadu Buhari at the 2019 budget proposal presentation on Wednesday, as “children who lack home training”.
The governor said this on Thursday while speaking with state house correspondents after the Anchor Borrowers Programme Gala at the state house conference center in Abuja.
Bello said the lawmaker are bent on destroying the country and its democracy.
“First of all two distinct human beings, a father, a gentleman, a man who has the interest of the country at heart, President Muhammadu Buhari displaced his stuff today (Wednesday), and those who are self-centered, selfish and bent on destroying this country and the democracy have also shown themselves today,” he said.
“This is what I said sometimes back that when you have a child that is not well trained by his parents he constitutes menace to the society and that is exactly what we witnessed today in the National Assembly. National Assembly is suppose to be made of men and women of character and integrity. We have seen those that constitute such class of human beings and those that constitute menace to the society in the National Assembly today. But above all, I thank God, I thank Mr. President for a wonderful presentation of 2019 budget estimates. We all believe it’s going to take Nigeria to the next level by the special grace of God.”
phyllosilicate: A former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Adamu Muazu, is currently meeting with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Muazu, a former governor of Bauchi state was said to have arrived the Vice President’s wing at the Presidential Villa around 4pm and went straight into a closed door meeting with Prof. Osinbajo. Our correspondent could not establish whether the meeting was in connection with the planned defection of Muazu to the All Progressives Congress (APC) or not. However, our correspondent recalled that it was a week after a former governor of Akwa Ibom state, Godswill Akpabio, met with the Vice President that he defected to the APC. Proudly called the game changer, Muazu led the PDP to defeat during the 2015 general elections in the country, which ended Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election bid.
Amidst the pandemonium that greeted the just concluded 2019 budget presentation at the National Assembly, Senator Godswill Akpabio (APC, Akwa Ibom) has called on the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and House of Reps. Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, to resign.
Briefing newsmen at the National Assembly complex shortly after the rowdy budget presentation, Akpabio described the presiding officers as minority leaders who should do the needful and resign.
“Yes, they couldn’t talk because they are minority leaders. They are not even supposed to talk in the first place. They should therefore do the needful and resign honourably or face being booted out of office,” Akpabio told journalists.
Akpabio, a former Senate Minority Leader, who some months back defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said the presiding officers are undeserving of their positions.
Recall that Buhari a while ago presented the N8.8 trillion 2019 budget proposal before a joint session of the National Assembly amidst tensions. The rowdy session saw APC and PDP lawmakers locked in shouting match at the House of Representatives venue of the presentation.
Akinwunmi Ambode, Lagos State governor, at the weekend took a swipe at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying he is not in a good position to champion the anti-corruption drive.
Atiku had vowed to fight corruption like never before if given the chance to preside over Nigeria’s affairs, saying he was well equipped to fight corruption because of his vast experience both in the public and private sectors and his ability to build a team capable of accomplishing the task.
“I will shock everyone because I believe that I will fight corruption like never before,” he had said.
However, speaking with journalists during the peace meeting held with aggrieved aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Marina, Ambode said there was no way any responsible leader would decide to wage a frontal battle against corruption without it fighting back.
Describing the 16 years reign of the PDP as ’16 years of corruption’, Ambode said the opposition is desperate to unseat President Buhari in 2019 so as to return Nigeria to the old ways when corruption was endemic.
Ambode who said he is aligning with President Buhari for reelection as president of Nigeria said three and a half years is not enough to reverse the rot caused by the PDP in its 16 years rule.
He said “You see, everybody is very clear about what is going on. In any environment, when you put up a crusade that you want to fight corruption, it’s very clear that corruption will always fight back. The fundamental reform about the way we do things is the underbelly for this anti-corruption drive.
“The way we do things in this country, they are not the right ways that can give us prosperity and President Buhari decided, on his own, that he would champion this crusade irrespective of how corruption will fight back.
“But again, when you have had 16 years of corruption and we’ve just only had three and a half years of reversing it, the way they are fighting back is trying to take government from him so that we can go back to our old ways of putting this country in penury, that is the crux of this election.” https://www.independent.ng/atiku-cant-champion-anti-corruption-drive-ambode/
