Sanromeo:
Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and cochairman of APC Presidential Campaign Council. In this interview with journalists after casting his vote in Ikeja, he expresses confidence that his party will win the elections. OLALEKAN OSIADE and TEMITOPE OGUNBANKE report

How would you assess the election so far?

It is peaceful. So far; so good. It demonstrated the resilience of Nigerians. We are using one of the best and difficult ways to select our representatives. Even democracy is not the easiest project to manage; it is not the easiest system to maintain, but with resilience and strong determination, we are getting there and we are making progress. This morning (Saturday) I can say within this polling unit and some other ones that I have passed through, they are doing well.

How would you describe the comportment of the electorate who trooped out to cast their votes?

I commend them because despite the fact that the elections were postponed last week Saturday, they were still excited and ready to cast their votes despite the postponement. There could be frustration and disappointment at one point or the other. But we could see that it was not deliberate. We could see that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as the umpire, gave us very good briefing throughout the week; giving us progress report. That is taking response to bullet. That is being open; that is being honest. We must move ahead; that is what we need in Nigeria and in a democratic society.

If the people of Nigeria vote out your party, what would you do?

I will say we will accept it; that is peoples’ verdict; that is there decision. Any democrats that cannot accept the results of free and fair elections, is not worthy of the name. You must be able to accept the results of a free and fair election. What is your hope? Do you think you can win this election? My hope and determination and for my party is that we are winning.

What gives you the confidence?

Because we have the support of the people. Look back and look at our rallies alone, that is an indication of who have the populace; the ordinary people. We are not talking about the elite; the rich. We are talking about ordinary farmers, traders, artisans and the common men. We are talking about parents whose children are feeding now at least once a day. We are talking about those people. They have to be grateful and still continue with him.

If the opposition rejects the result, what happens?

They are not democrats. They don’t believe in value and philosophy; you will see their desperation and they cannot claim to be democrats.

There have been complaints about logistics in some areas of Lagos State. Are you satisfied with the performance of INEC?

I am satisfied with what INEC is doing so far. You don’t drive yourself like a vehicle. You can easily develop fuel pomp problem on the highway. It is something that is mechanic. INEC said it experienced bad weather last week. I fly a lot. I have come to a situation where I got to an airport in this country and after spending two hours, we could not land. You cannot but accept nature. That one is beyond you.

There are allegations that your party is planning to rig the elec-tion. For example, there are pictures online that surface about bullion vans coming out of your premises?

Bullion vans; are they ballot papers? Where am I voting now?

There are allegations that those bullion vans carry money or ballot to rig election?

Is it my money or government money? I don’t walk for government. I am not in the agencies of government. And let anybody come out to say I have taken any contracts from the government of President Muhammadu Buhari or All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last four years. They should prove it. I am on my own and I am committed to my party. So, even if I have money to spend in my premises; what is your headache? If I don’t represent any agency of government and I have money to spend… If I have money and give it to the people free of charge as long as it is not to buy votes. You are talking of yesterday; so who are those watching my house and seeing bullion vans; they must be mischief-makers. They are lazy people and liars.

How would you describe the electoral process in Nigeria?

None of you became adult suddenly in one day. Without the advent of science and technology, you wait until the delivery before you can even identify the sex of a child. In your home, to raise your children and to even organise your kitchen and your living room, it takes time, perseverance, tolerance, endurance, consistency and strong determination, that we have adopted in democracy and that we want it to grow. So, we leave with the hate and pains, peace and value of it and then, we would move on.

PoliticsRe: Economic Dangers Of Selling The Nnpc As Proposed By Atiku Abubakar by osazeeblue01: 10:37am On Feb 19, 2019
jpphilips:

THE ECONOMIC DANGERS OF SELLING THE NNPC AS PROPOSED BY ALHAJI ATIKU ABUBAKAR

Nigerians in November of 2018 were greeted with an economic proposal perceived to be innocuous by most quarters of the country, by the former Vice president Atiku Abubakar aka Waziri of Privatization scams.
I did a research on the direction of that economic policy what turned out was a disaster, recall this publication

I’ll sell 90% of NNPC if elected, Atiku vows, https://punchng.com/ill-sell-90-of-nnpc-if-elected-atiku-vows/

In the publication above, Atiku proposed to sell 90% of all the NNPC holdings in his future privatization moves, never mind that 56 government establishments collapsed under his privatization scams of the past. Buhari in his mercy has taken up the responsibility of paying the pensions of Atiku's privatization victims read here; https://www.proshareng.com/news/Pensions/Pension:-FG-begins-payment-of-N17bn-to-NITEL-workers/6735

Can Nigeria survive under a sold NNPC regimen? tough question!!

why does other oil dependent economies maintain a national oil company? in Africa; Nigeria has NNPC, Angola has Sanagol, Algeria has Sonatrach, Egypt has EGPC, Libya has NOC etc.

In the Middle east; Saudi Arabia owns Saudi Aramco, Qatar owns QP, Bahrain owns BAPCO, iraq owns INOC, Syria owns the Al furat, Iran owns NIOC and so on.

In Europe: Russia has Rosneft, Norway has Satoil etc, you can see clearly that every oil dependent economy in Africa, Asia, Europe, middle east maintain an oil company.

Why is it so? A national oil company is the country's stake in its oil riches which translates to the oil wealth of the people.

What does the NNPC do for the Nigerian economy?

In a layman's term, NNPC pays for anything you use that is not produced in Nigeria, in other words, NNPC is your window to the global market.

Let us use your American imported car for example.

You wish to buy a car from the United States, the Japanese manufacturer in the US insisted you must pay in usd for the transaction, unfortunately your local bank account holds the Naira so how did you get the car eventually?
Your bank debits your naira, then pays the dollar equivalent to the US company. smart huh!!

Have you wondered where your bank or your Aboki got the USD to facilitate that transaction? my research took me to a CBN activity called Retail Dutch Auction System (RDAS) and Wholesale Dutch Auction System (WDAS), these are avenues your bank, BDC (Aboki) and every other licensed forex trader gets his supply from.

Out of curiosity, I decided to dig further where the CBN gets her forex from, the answer wasn't surprising, the NNPC!! through the following common sense processes.

Direct oil Sales (NNPC) (70%)
Petroleum Profit Tax (Oil Companies) (20%)
Royalties (5%)
Penalty for Gas Flaring (5%)

could this be the reason why every oil dependent economy has a national oil company? Is Atiku planning to steal 70% of Nigeria's oil wealth like he stole all the Niger delta sea ports for 25yrs?

We most times follow these politicians around without paying attention to the underlying message of doom they are coming with, Atiku and OBJ orchestrated the most fraudulent privatization heist in the history of this country, read here
https://www.nairaland.com/4839445/atikus-source-wealth-revealed-mohammed/1
Unfortunately, most young people that form today's voting block do not know what OBJ & Atiku represent in Nigeria's politics.

some people ignorantly argue that since NNPC is a cesspit of corruption therefore it has to be sold, my only response is, even as the cesspit of corruption, it still provides 70% of CBN's forex, if sold, where do we get those forex from? What Business is Nigeria doing today that will provide that insane amount of forex for the utilization of over 180m Nigerians? Am i supposed to borrow cars and shoes from Atiku and his friends?
In case you have forgotten so soon how Nigerians landed in poverty due to forex shortages, high cost of living, that was just a tip of what could happen when NNPC sold oil at a lower price, imagine what will happen when NNPC seize to exist.

Like everything Atiku privatized, either ended up in his pocket (Niger delta oil and gas free zones) or died out rightly (Nitel, Alscon, Delta steel, News week etc).

For Nigerians in the mid stream sector of the oil and gas industry (oil servicing companies) warming up to vote Atiku, your case is worse, 60% of your contracts are paid for by the NNPC through a process called cash calls, if NNPC is sold, has Atiku told you who will pay the cash calls? this segment of Nigerians will be the first victim of that demonic proposal, we will be watching their protest at the NNPC headquarters like we watched ex Nitel staffs in protest back in the days.
sound familiar right? https://www.uniglobalunion.org/news/nigeria-nitel-dismissed-78-workers-unions-protest-sack-order

what about the ALSCON workers huh!! sounds familiar? https://www.premiumtimesng.com/business/128089-alscon-workers-host-communities-protest-rusals-sack-of-475-nigerians.html

God will be fair to Atiku because this time he sounded the doom Trumpet of his dejavu if Nigerians ignorantly gives him the mandate to forge ahead.

With this plan, the next round of hunger will not be friendly, after voting Atiku, do not complain he promised change but brought chains, already, I can see your chain under an Atiku leadership, good luck as you do your future proud by resisting this scam in the waiting!!

We need a reformed NNPC as proposed by Ibe Kachikwu already endorsed by the US
http://nnpcgroup.com/PublicRelations/NNPCinthenews/tabid/92/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/576/US-Endorses-Ongoing-NNPC-Reforms.aspx

We need to sustain this NNPC reform that ended the perennial yuletide petrol scarcity in Nigeria, we need to sustain the policy that ended hoarding of petroleum products in Nigeria, we need to sustain this reform that ended the theft of over 400,000bbls of crude oil daily, that's what we need, selling NNPC is evil to say the least.

The only beneficiaries of this proposal are Atiku and his friends like peter obi that has the financial war-chest to buy NNPC's assets in bits and pieces, strip the assets, sell them off, become billionaire & walk away.

The big question every Nigerian going to the polls on Saturday must ask himself is; Can you live without the NNPC? by extension, can you live without your cars, smart phones, computers, foreign clothes, deodorant, building materials, books, drugs, cosmetics anything in this country that is not made in Nigeria? if your answer is NO, vote any other candidate that is not Atiku.
APC agent is here.

ABUJA—The Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, sitting in Abuja, has ordered key security agencies in the country to arrest the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen, and produce him for trial on Friday.
Justice Onnoghen
The Mr. Danladi Umar-led panel tribunal specifically directed the Inspector General of Police and the Director General of the Department of State Service, DSS, to execute the arrest warrant to ensure that Justice Onnoghen was brought before it on the adjourned date.
The order followed an application the Federal Government made for a bench warrant to be issued against the suspended CJN.
FG’s made the application after Justice Onnoghen’s failed to appear before the tribunal to enter his plea to the six-count charge pending against him.
Justice Onnoghen who was accused of failing to declare his assets as prescribed by the law, as well as operated foreign bank accounts in contravention of the code of conduct for public officials, had on three previous dates, refused to appear before the CCT for arraignment.
Enugu: FG Orders Repair Of 9th Mile – Orokam Road
At the resumed proceeding, government lawyer, Mr. Aliyu Umar, relied on section 6 (1) of the CCT Practice Direction and section 396 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, ACJA, 2015, to apply for a bench warrant against the defendant.
“May I draw your attention and the honorable members to the fact that the defendant is not in court today.
“I hereby humbly apply for a warrant of arrest against the defendant”, Umar stated.
However, counsel to the embattled CJN, Chief Adegboyega Awolowo, SAN, urged the tribunal to refuse the application and proceed with hearing Onnoghen’s motion challenging the jurisdiction of the CCT and legal competence of the charge against him.
Awomolo further relied on section 35 and 36 of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, to argue that the tribunal ought to firstly determine the issue of its integrity and impartiality, before proceeding with the trial.
Besides, he argued that the presence of the defendant was not mandatory during hearing of an objection to the charge, adding that the Mr. Danladi Umar led tribunal earlier adjourned to hear all the pending
Falana Calls On CJN To Resign, Criticises Buhari
“The defendant is entitled to fair trial and fair hearing and the constitution has mandated that he must be afforded every facility to establish his innocence.
“A criminal trial is a serious matter that affects the liberty of a citizen.
“The application that the tribunal should issue a bench warrant is persecuting by the prosecution. The tribunal is urged to preserve the defendant’s rights”, Awomolo pleaded.
