Romance / Re: Is It Normal For Nigerian Men To Call Their Girlfriends "Mom"? by oscar(m): 2:31pm On Jun 30, 2008
Na wa'o for all these women. Wetin dey wrong to call the woman you love 'mom'/'mum'/mummy/momma! I believe it's just a name to show endearment. What about women who call their men 'daddy'. Are we supposed to hit the roof over that? I'm sure guys who call their women 'mum' just want to show appreciatn for the love and care from the women in their lives. just like they would to their real mums. Maybe, a little suggestion can help here; I mean, for instance, the men could call the women lil' (little) mom, to show the difference. I call my girl lil' momma and, you bet, she loves it!!!!
Travel / Re: Passengers Exchange Blows In Moving Airplane by oscar(m): 12:47pm On Jan 28, 2008
Na wa'o! Bad belle Nigerians! The culpable fool was only trying to reach all his friends and relations to let them know he is 'actually' in an aircraft! Why try to spoil his once-in-a lifetime experience with our bad belle. Thot he was in his usual Molue! And now everybody is blasting the 'challenger' for doing what everyone else had in mind but couldn't bring themselves to do. Typically Nigerian. But , men, I love this country to bits. I love u all! grin kiss
Religion / Re: Lovemaking After Traditional Wedding Only: Is This Fornication? by oscar(m): 12:14pm On Jan 28, 2008
Very interesting topic, guys. But, what do say in an issue that is has morality ringed around it. I've always believed that whatever has to do with 'belief' or morality tends to evoke subjective emotions. See, i believe inthe whole Church and godly thingy, but in all sincerity, how many couples can really claim not to have tasted the thing before getting married in church, or mosque (for that matter). That is the reality we face. And there is yet another reality for u guys: the whole church-white-wedding thing is becoming rather too expensive. Men, I've seen too many couples who end up in serious debt after trying to do what they see others do, and you don't want to hear the rest of the story,

As for me, i prefer simplicity. Get the parents on both sides to accept and bless the union, fulfil all traditional rites (becos this is Africa, babe) and carry your woman home, and live happily ever after, I hope.

Politics / Re: Iyabo Obasanjo In Contract Scandal by oscar(m): 4:16pm On Dec 22, 2007
Na wa'o! Guys, make una take am easy. Granted, Madam (sorry Dr. Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello PhD) does not have any excuse in law for adopting a name (is that what u call impersonation?) inorder to carry out a business deal, which has apparently gone sour. I hear the company had petitioned the EFCC before now, but the EFCC had advised the various parties to go and resolve their 'business problems,' adding that it had no criminal implications. However, from the latest reports in the media, it is clear that it is no longer just problems among business partners. There is now the accusation by one party of fraud, and other financial criminality. I trust the anti-graft body is looking into the matter right now.
My point, really, is that it is not in our place as forummites to act as jury and judge rolled into one. Sure, we must say our bit, harrass and badger where necessary; but delivering judgments is way out of our purview, if i must say.

In any case, what the hardworking Vet. Dr.-turned Senator has done with regards to conducting business using her office as a Commissioner in her State, whether under an alias or not, is indeed condemnable. I believe she deserves whatever is coming to her now. (And, as an afterthought, has anyone sat in on any of the committee sessions where our good Lady Ex-President's Daughter is a member, to observe her contribution to the building of our democracy? My friends who have tell me she makes rather daft and unintelligent contributions. I wonder.) Peace to all mankind.
Food / Re: Indomie, Chikki Or O! Noodles: Which One Tastes Best? by oscar(m): 3:15pm On Dec 22, 2007
It's interesting to see such vibrant discussion on a type of food considered by many as rather plain, un-traditional and lacking in taste. But, I guess, for those of us in this generation, noodles - whether Maggi 2minute, Indomie, Mimee, Chiki, O - have come as a welcome delicacy for those who are either too tired (or too lazy) to cook, or simply can't put 2 and 2 together in the kitchen.

It has got so bad that a lot of womem (sorry, girls) in our generation cannot really cook, due to an addiction to such fast, plaid and bland ready-made meals, ala noodles.

I suggest we look at that side of the argument: why too many people (ladies, especially) are relying on the the simplistic noodle cuisine, instead of learning how to cook real satisfying meals the whole family cna enjoy.

But, if I must contribute to the popularity contest, because I have done some research on this matter, I think the Chikki brand is the best for me. It is rather more filling than the rest of them. Plus, you can agree with me, the packaging is more 'mature'. I rest my case.
TV/Movies / Re: Big Brother Africa: Shower Hour? by oscar(m): 6:22pm On Sep 25, 2007
I read somewhere that people who are ashamed of their nudity cannot proclaim their humanity. Well, I guess that says it all. There is absolutely wrong with what those girls are doing, and even some of them try too hard to cover what is left of their pride. The blame should be on the organisers who turn something as normal and human as shower time into some voyeuristic venture for the perverted lot amongst us.

Romance / Re: The Art Of Kissing by oscar(m): 3:53pm On Sep 17, 2007
Now, richy-rich, did u really write all of that? If not, why did u sign it: Richman. Looked like something I had read somewhere, However, I must confess, that was a thesis u put up there(whereever u got that from). Last word: the best kiss is the one that comes from the soul; whether ur a skilled(professional), adept kisser or just an amateur, when u kiss( if u really must do it), my advice is let it come from the depth of ur soul, wholly, deeply, completely giving of urself. Then, u would have truly kissed.

What if ur partner is simply a lousy kisser? Well,, another day.
Romance / Re: My Bizzare Love Story! by oscar(m): 3:38pm On Sep 17, 2007
Actually, it was the title of ur post that piqued my interest. Now, dude, was that 'Bizzard' or 'Blizzard' or 'Bizzare' u were talking about? Na wa'oh! Little wonder u got urself in such mess. Take heart, bro.

Music/Radio / Re: Platashun Boiz Reunion by oscar(m): 5:48pm On Aug 26, 2007
no, maddy. My personal opinion is that those guys are tighter as a group, anyday. c'mon, don't you feel the whole vibe from a faze, tufaze and blackface whenever they come together. that is not lacking in their new effort as a group. Granted, tuface (and to some extent, faze) made great success and won greater acclaim as solo artistes, but their is still a lot of music and rhythm when those guys sing together. their two albums as a group is still the best as far as I'm concerned. in short, two or three acclaimed heads would naturally be better than one. believe me.

Politics / Re: Naira Re-Denomination: Suspended! by oscar(m): 5:32pm On Aug 26, 2007
This is terrible. Shameful and Sad

But what do you expect with stolen mandate??

It means the government is in taters;

CBN is in another world, Finance ministry in its own world and FG in disarray!

Thats the message sent across the world.

This is another policy sumersault.

Be very afraid of weak-minded rulers.

Wise Nigerians should not expect anything different from this junta.

I can not agree more! it was the most 'unwisest' (if ever there's a word like that )decision by the North-centric Yar'Adua administration. This government is surely not of the people, so what more could we expect? Soludo, to their utter chagrin, is light years ahead of them in everyway they can imagine. they cannot bear to fault his logic and reasoning, that is why they cook up all sorts of rubbish to shoot down a policy that could ultimately have set Nigeria back on the road to total economic recovery. I agree this might be a ploy to cast Soludo in a bad light in order to remove him. It is indeed A BIG SHAME, and a massive drawback for this country.
Music/Radio / Is 2face Idibia's New Video A Slap On Naija's Face? by oscar(m): 1:31pm On Aug 24, 2007
Guys, I wonder if anyone has seen 2face Idibia's new video for the song: If Love is a crime. I'm still in shock at that dude's shameless attempt to deface Naija, by not only shooting the vid in small neighbouring Ghana, but his complete adoption of the Ghanaian colours and all. Our dear 2face, whom so many Nigerians had supported with their sweat and blood, totally dumped Nigeria for a Ghanaian personality. Now, don't me wrong. there's absolutely nothing wrong with shootin' vids in foreign lands, but did he have to wear (for the whole duration of the vid) clothes with 'Ghana' boldly inscribed on every space? Is the dude hating on good, ole Naija? And to listen to those mo'fkas, KK and D1, trying to explain that away by describing the video (or is it 2baba) as 'going international.' Can he ever be more international than, say Akon, who still reps Senegal to the max, even in the US? Help me out.

Politics / Re: Buhari/Prof Pat Utomi The Best Team For Nigeria by oscar(m): 12:35pm On Jan 05, 2007
Guys, I respect ur positions on this issue. Personally, I don't dig the person of Buhari - mainly because of his military background(Nigeria can really do without them military boys, Obj inclusive). However, I must confess, the purported matching up between Buhari and Utomi(my idol, by the way), has got me paying attention. I believe Prof. Utomi represents the New Nigeria, where economic prosperity is the order of the day. Granted, Utomi lacks the political clout nor the 'Money bag' appeal that Nigerian politics has come to represent, but I, as well as millions of other Nigerians, think the country could really do with an educated, visionary and cerebral economic and social reformer like Pat Utomi. In summary, if Buhari (a no-nonsense disciplinarian, I hear) joins forces with the quintessential Utomi, maybe, just maybe, Nigeria may finally have a good substitute for the corruption-ridden Obasanjo administration. In the meantime, we are waiting and watching, with bated breathe.
Family / Re: Marrying A Woman 5 Years Older by oscar(m): 2:17pm On Jan 04, 2007
Ol,boy, seriously, I no envy you right now. I mean, if you neva dey that situation before, you no go understand how dillemmic(check dat word!) it could get. I had the misfortune to date one who was just a couple of years older. Boy! UYou wan try as this girl carry hold me! I got really scared when she started telling me time was not on her side. What was I supposed to do. Young chappy, just about rounding off youth service (and by the way, she was serving, too). Anyways, I just think dating(and, potentially, marrying) an older girl, in present day Africa, carries a lot unneccessary pressures. Any young man could do without those. And that's being candid, friends.

Politics / Re: The Flag of Nigeria by oscar(m): 4:29pm On Feb 06, 2006
obong my good friend, I think I really like your choice of theme. However, I enjoy that little bit of history you gave on the Japanese flag. How knowledgeable! Indeed, I personally feel that there is nothing wrong with the Nigerian flag. what we need to begin to appreciate as Nigerians is the need to respesct our flag and other national symbols. a country's greatness is not determined (or reflected, for that matter) by it's flag. Nigeria is a great and robust nation, with a multiplicity and diversity that will make other countries green with envy. what we - you and I - as well as all those organisations and multinationals need to do is to pay impassioned reverence to our good old dear flag as well as any other national symbol that sets us apart.

Ol'boy, the "domicile on conflageration" thing surely reminds me of the lady who ran out shouting "Succour! Succour!" while her "domicile" was burning.... U can tell if she eventually got what she wanted. Cheers wink
