Two "naija" guys were apprehended in India.

Did you see the thread. My cousin know one of them. We are representing.

I'm most ashamed of the way Nigerians behave abroad but I try to avoid this tribal thing. When a crime is reported, the first thing nairalanders do is to check names and start this unending tribal nonsense.

Let us condemn crime and not the tribe. No tribe is better than the other. We all fight to root out evil everywhere.

Let me enlighten you a little

Martin Luther King, Jr Said "History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people".

Thank you for not being insulting as the tradition of nairalanders

We should not mix things up here. I support any opposition to bad stuffs. I am not in support of distilling any bad stuffs to tribal wrangling. This has been one thing so disguisting about nairaland forum. If it is drug peddling there is tribe associated with it; if is it yahoo yahoo, there is a tribe for that;if it is Italy, another tribe, just as in this case at hand and the list goes on...

I expected people to make comments based on the scenario and the individual involved and not from a tribal perspective.
On the issue of being silence when there are ills in the society, if I May ask what crime has that lady committed? Has she done wrong for expression her emotion? I guess in this particular instance there was no breach of the laws of Italy. Thank you for educating me. lol. Cheers though.

If you hear or read that a Nigerian man was caught with drugs in Indonesia or Thailand, where do you think they'd be from...ans, only my people will do such.

If you hear that a Nigerian man scammed an American of his savings from an Internet cafe in Lagos or from the comfort of his home in Peckham, who else would do that if not a scratched faced cone head.

You don't need a prophet or babalawo to tell you that Oshobaba babes have colonised Italy. Infact they are the only black women allowed to engage in olosho business with their love-vendor Osagies and Ehimares.

Afonja and IPOB babes don't sell toto in Italy.

Nigeria has 36 states and the federal capital territory. In all these states, it is normal that crime and unfortunate incidents occur on a daily basis especially with the failed government we have in Nigeria. But for a moderator to bring to the most popular Nigerian site, three unfortunate report from a state for public awareness and discussion obviously shows more of a hypocritic and tribal bigotry mindset.

Now that you have decided to show your hatred for Edo state, i hope your bank account has increased and your joy is full. i just want to let you know that your quest to paint the state bad is a futile one and can never be successful.

Thank you brother.Tell them. Most Nigerians here look everything from the lens of tribal bigotry.I am really disappointed in the youths of this country. Is there Hope? I doubt.

Those people you mentioned are also Igbos. Especially the Ikwerres. But they like claiming what I don't know. It's rather unfortunate. In any case, what you said about the SS not supporting an Igbo presidential candidate in an election holds a lot of water cos from my everyday interaction with them, those guys hate the Igbos. Especially those from Edo and Delta. In fact, most of them were pleasantly surprised that we Igbos firmly supported Goodluck Jonathan their son in 2011 and even more tenaciously in 2015. It's indeed a great pity that Jonathan lost cos if he had won, the bond of love btw the SE & SS may have been cemented forever. The love we shared just before, during and immediately after the 2015 elections is fast fizzling out. The Ohaneze Ndigbo and the South South People's Assembly & all the other regional groups from the two Zones must close ranks to rekindle that love and also fashion out ways of sustaining it from generation to generation. With that, we can always vote as a bloc in national elections and also have a platform for negotiation for power and other goodies at the Federal level. My own take tho.

#truefederalismistheonlyway
You are generalizing. How can you say Edo (the heart beat of the nation)and Delta (the big heart) hate Ibos. I am really disappointed in this unsubstantiated claim. I have lived with Ibos in my town. Some where very close, i mean close ties with my family. Some of my relatives and friends got married to Ibo women and men. Man, this is not true. Why are you bias? In your eyes, all tribes are bad. Yorubas are bad, hausas are bad..... and now SS, especially Edo and Delta. How can you win this war of bashing ALL tribes in Nigeria. If I may ask which tribe is good? Only the Ibo? Hmmmmmmm.

Why attack people going about their business? Tochukwu is not only Igbos that bear it, we have many people in Rivers State who bear Igbo names too, Ikwerres, Etche, Ubima, etc.

This hatred for Igbos by South south people is the reason I didn't support Jonathan in 2015. Had Jonathan been an Igbo man they wouldn't have supported him.

Thank God he lost.

What? The SS hates Ibos, the SW hates Ibos, the North hates Ibos etc
Is this a valid point. What is really the problem?
I am from SS, I have known Ibos right from the my childhood, doing businesses all over my state peacefully, some even marrying from their host community and we see them as one of us. People from other tribes have treated me bad in the past and some will in the future. Should I come here and say that and that tribe is bad? Man, you are wrong. Stop creating further hatred which has ruined this country. Let us look deep inward and be sincere in our approach. Please no insult.

There is nothing like the perfect person or tribe here. What I observed here is that every tribe claim to the tribe of saints when issues come up.This is true whether u are from SS,SW,SE or the North. We look down on one tribe and paint ours as the best. This is displayed on nairaland all the time.

Ijaw youths are some of the laziest in Nigeria. These are shops allocated to them which they sold to the Igbos. They are allocated jobs, they sell same to Igbos. If the Igbos leave Ijaw land, what will become of them? All they know to do is to drink, womanize and break pipelines. That is why an Ijaw woman will hang out with an Igbo man because they are hardworking and have family values, unlike our people.

And yes, this is coming from a disgusted Niger Deltan who is piqued at the behaviour of our youths. We are our own problem in the Niger Delta.

My brother, I will respectfully disagree with some things u mentioned. I am from SS, it is wrong for u to say Ijaw youths are some of the laziest in Nigeria. Though I am not Ijaw, I know some of them who are excellent and hardworking. Are we saying there are no lazy people in Ibo land? Let's us be very cautious.

I condemn both the killing of the girl and the reaction from the host community.
Here is my take, whoever you are, if u live in a community, make peace with them, respect and do not look down on them (by claiming to be hardworking). I am saddened by comments by some Ibos that the Ijaws are lazy. This is unacceptable. There is virtually any tribe in Nigeria they do not call names. If it is Yorubas, name calling; Hausas, name calling etc., some names I cannot mention here. Personally, there was a time my tribe was labelled as a tribe of 'witches'.They even called my state the 'capital of witchcraft'. This is not true, if it is true that my tribe practice such, me not not being a part of it makes that assumption false. If Ibos land is this perfect haven being advanced here, then why going outside their states to SS, SW and to the North to eke out a living? I never mean to be insulting. The message is, respect the people who host you. Cheers!

Travel / Re: Nigerians In Pretoria, Sunnyside, South Africa Suffering. by osicom: 12:18pm On Jul 05, 2016
My brother, this is the reality on ground.I live here.I am no stranger to how corrupt, wicked, etc these men in uniform could be.
Since you where not found with any illegal stuff, you should not have been treated that way.Shame on those unprofessional officers.

However, part of the reasons most South Africa disdain Nigerians is what some Nigerians involve themselves here, worsening the already decadent state of the South Africa society. The story of these Nigerians are horrible to say the least.Nigerians who are decent and innocent of these crimes are caught up in the middle of this aggression, like in your case.

The situation here, Sunnyside (Pretoria) in particular 'stinks' with the activities of our fellow brothers. When I see the way some of my country men conduct themselves here, I am ashamed and always ask myself, ''why have we abandoned our good morals?''.
When a South Africa knows that you are a Nigerian, the next question he or she asks is your tribe.South Africans know one tribe as ''specializing'' in drugs and other, internet fraud. They are also aware that there is great animosity between these two tribes. When I learnt of this, I was disturbed. I simply say I am Nigerian without mentioning my tribes (though I am neither of these two tribes).Even telling them that you are simply a Nigerian, does not help matter as the umbrella names 'Nigeria' covers all. When South Africans hear the name 'Nigeria', their countenance will immediately change.I have experienced it first hand.

On the other hand, there are good Nigerians here doing the country proud.

Sunnyside is just one in hundreds of places in South Africa where our ''boys'' are doing great damage to the South African society;soiling the Nigerian name and making life difficult for the good Nigerians here.

My brother, take heart, this is what the ''bad eggs' among us have caused.

Peanut sad.... But shey edo people dey go school??... I think sey Na land dem dey sell take enter Italy sad

My brother, is this really coming out of you? Are you real?

You must not insult a tribe or state to make your point known. The fact that we do not see face-to-face does not give the license to run down a whole state. Are you inferring that the whole state is full of uneducated people and that all they do is sell land and travel overseas? This is laughable.
The issue we should be discussing is the high price of tuition and other fees in the said institution.Instead of you to contribute objectively, you prefer to attack the good people of the state. Be frank with yourself,is there any state in the federation where its people can afford such amount -close to N700,000? So if the people of Edo complain of such exorbitant fees, it does not warrant such insult.
This kind of mind set where you run one tribe in order to elevate yours is toxic and and does not show a de-tribalised mind which we all strive for to remedy Nigerian's numerous problems. Of course it is a social forum, everybody is free to type anything but what we type could reflect who we really are behind the screen. I guess as a young man,you should be able to tolerate other tribes, people and culture. You are from a different tribes does not make you superior in intelligence.
I think you are from one of the so-called 'major' tribes in Nigeria who tend to relegate other tribes they termed as 'minor' and even the 'major' ones. The 'major' tribes should keep fighting themselves here and leave the 'minor' tribes who to my assessment are even more matured, out of this bickering that has characterized nairalanders when affairs of any state or region is mentioned.
If at this age and time in our country you do not see anything good in any tribe, language, culture and people apart from the one you belong to,then we are in serious problem. In it pure definition that is tribalism and nepotism, which has been our drawback as a nation. Purge your mind and embrace other people.
Cheers.
