Over that last decade there was a serious marginalization of bauchi state indigenes in securing admission to study medicine and surgery, pharmacy and other health related courses. The demand for doctors and pharmacists kept on raising which was one of the reasons the then governor gave automatic employment to anyone that want to work with the state government.

Unijos, Abu Zaria, BUK and University of maiduguri were the only hope and last resorts that normally consider students from that state without stiff neck but, the game changer came when NECO started dishing out unbelievable grades which then made more students to over qualify for these choiced courses; thus making every university a battle ground for the mighty. This marginalization went on for a while to the extent that the former governor had to bribed BUK by building a hostel costing the state hundred of millions just to consider students from the state.

The other options left for the state government was to either sponsor their students abroad to study medicine and surgery or lobby the federal government to grant their own university license to establish school of medicine. The then governor did more by sending handful of students to some less expensive countries like Morocco, Egypt and Tunisia while simultaneously pressuring and lobbying the FG and NUC to allow ATBU ( Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University) offer medicine and surgery related courses, which is the only way of having more state trained doctors at affordable cost.

During one of the NUC supervision, they demanded for a teaching hospital, which was one of the main criteria for granting license to any school that wishes to offer medicine and surgery or have school of medical sciences, the governor quickly replied by saying on a short term base, they are going to upgrade the state specialist hospital and converts it to teaching hospital while working on a world class hospital and facility suitable for research, treatment and learning. I could vividly remember the explosive noise that roared throughout the entire state when the news first broke out that indeed the much anticipated license has been granted.

The most annoying thing here is this incumbent governor didn't, I REPEAT was not part of those that struggled for this landmark achievements, yet this mongrel is here trying to paint a dark picture to satisfy his wickedness. Only a demon from the pit of hell will post such a topic that the state governor sold the only hospital to make way for a graveyard. The last time I checked, land for cemetery or graveyard can never be an issue to state like bauchi with massive unproductive desert.
