Nobody can arrest you for posting ‘pointers for those interested in laundering money’ on an online forum that is full of many idle youths?? I don’t know what to say to you. Let me just leave you to believe you actually posted something smart up there.

You seriously believe you are being intelligent by saying actual money laundering goes beyond what Nigerian criminals are doing and that anything below 1 billion Naira is a waste of time? How many yahoo boys, drug boys, kidnappers, armed robbers are doing 1 billion per transaction? You think EFCC and AML authorities in other countries are stupid when they are snooping banks for people randomly depositing over 10k dollars? Abi you think say na only politicians dey launder money? I give up.
Na u dem go first arrest for defaming the good name of our honourable politicians. tongue

I like your line of thoughts...
I just want to sound a word of caution with this coy.

Before you make assumptions on the projected dividend they'll pay this year, I'll advice you look at their dividend history alongside their EPS for each year. This company is known to withold dividends in years when they have hit a rough patch... They have hit a rough patch in 2020 just as you have noted...

If you are buying, buy for the long term. If you are buying for dividends, this coy might shock you...

Happy investing...
You have a valid point, but so is the run we experienced in the insurance sector;

1. LINKASSURE has made over 80% and the last time they paid dividends in the last 6 years was 2018 (5 kobo)
2. ROYALEX has made over 70% and paid dividends two times in the last 6 years. 2014 (5 kobo) and 2015 (2 kobo)
3. NIGERINS has made over 50% and paid dividends tree times in the last 6 years. 2014 (8 kobo), 2015 (4 kobo), 2016(4 kobo)

Dividend wise CAVERTON has maintained above 6% in the last 3 years and above 10% in the last 2 years.

But again it is possible I am not seeing the whole picture sha.

I think this is your choice.
These stocks were mentioned at bargain junctions but you chose to buy higher.
We used to say it here severally that once the bus left and on high speed, there's no point pursuing it again....,

Also means you don't follow discussions here or, you don't ask questions on what you don't understand.

Neimeth was mentioned here at 30 something kobo, why entering high?
Mansard was debated severally here @ below N1 with forth and back calculations, I can remember vividly that Obagadaffi and I said it was good for pick at below N1.....Why jumped in at 1.52?
Transcorp: The first time I mentioned it was at 60kobo, the second time at 93-98kobo.

So you see that you just have to take responsibility for your high jumps....
You will make a good money manager o, in fact, you should float a fund managing business. I am sure some people in this forum will invest in ur index for a fee, I for one will. smiley

InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ositadiima1:
For those interested in laundering money here are some pointers. Note that I am not saying you should.

Money Laundering--The Dark Side of Cash

Money laundering, broadly, is an activity wherein cash is used as a vehicle to transform illegal profits into legitimate-appearing assets. There are three main steps in a money laundering process.

The first and the riskiest step is the placement, whereby illegal funds are introduced into the legal economy via fraudulent means, e.g., by dividing funds into small amounts and depositing them into multiple bank accounts there by avoiding detection.

The second step, layering, involves moving the money around between different accounts and even countries thereby creating complexity and separating the money from its source by several degrees.

The third step is integration, whereby money launderers get back the money via legitimate-looking sources, e.g., cash-intensive businesses such as bars and restaurants, car washes, hotels (at least in some countries), gambling establishments, parking garages, etc.

Despite that I was a laggard while in school, I still remember how d laws of motion were been forced into our innocent heads by our not so cool teacher. I chop plenty flogging in those days o. The evidence still there on my left butt chick. Do u want to see? grin

Anyhoo, the first law goes like this:

"Newton's first law states that every object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless compelled to change its state by the action of an external force."

It is funny how concepts from one domain can be brought into another.

The concept of momentum(inertia) works for stock prices same way it works for objects, at least in theory...

So, if a particular stock returns more than let's say 7% on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will I be wrong if I buy on Thursday morning and sell on Friday at 2pm or next Monday morning ?

Will I be more right than wrong, infact, will i be right enough times that i can be making some overall profit ?

Can adjusting these parameters improve things?

These troubling questions I intend to answer next with past data. Stay tuned as we hunt for that strategy that will change my life story. Not yours o, my life story cheesy

The thing is now becoming competition every State Governor wants his state to top the lead.
These numbers are actually very low. Why you guys think they are fake suprises me.

108,000 confirmed cases out of 200,000,000 Nigerians.

The chances that you will meet any one who has been confirmed positive in your day to day activities is 108,000 ÷ 200,000,000 = 0.00054

You are more likely to predict 6 draws(at 3.5 odds) in a row than to meet any one person that is positive according to NCDC statistics.

Ok, now try and predict 6 draws in the premier league and see how hard it is.

March-December last year is basically lowest to highest.

Anyways, can you share the NSE historical data on Kaggle, CSV or sql.

Download the NSE data from the link below, remember to remove the spaces . The longer data set runs from 2012 to around October 2020.

I also attached the RSI cumulative returns equity curve. In my last post got stuff mixed up, 2018 was also very bad, in fact the worst.

Would like to see the results from you machine learning if you don't mind bro.

It was exceptionally profitable between 2016 and 2018, especially 2018. 2019 drawdown was really steep. I will post the equity curve tomorrow. I am thinking about putting in some kind of filter like a moving average.

For NSE data, u can use investpy module to scrape any ticker of choice from investing*com. I assume you run the machine learning in python. You will also need to clean the data, there are a few errors in it.

I collected March 2020 to date my self from the morgan capital daily price list, this is more accurate. I will put it in google drive and share, tomorrow.

The RSI(Relative Strengh Index) developed by J. Wilder in the 1970's is a popular indicator. It is mostly used by trend followers, you know, the TA guys. Basically, it counts up days(days with +ve returns) and down days(days with -ve returns) plug them in an equation and compute a single number, this number gets updated every new day.

According to these guys when the indicator is at 70 or above, they claim that the stock is overbought and that a downwards reversal is eminent, likewise, when d indicator is 30 or below it is in the oversold region and an upward reversal is due.

Does this idea have a scientific basis? Does it really work? Well, for one, if it did work trading would be super easy nah, buy at 30 or below, sell at 70 or above, rinse, repeat and become a millionaire. grin

I suggest u stay tuned as I am going to test this hypothesis with our very own NSE data...
I am not going to go into the details regarding the equation that outputs the RSI values, it is quite well documented online. For u guys that like books you can check out 'New Concepts In Technical Trading Systems' by J. Wilder himself. In there you will find the RSI and other indicators developed by the author.

With a python script I was able to run a few tests and deciphered a few things.

The RSI possesses predictive powers, but, you have to dig deep to get to it.

I will not be posting detail results this time maybe later.

These set of parameters made ok returns in my back test:
1. I used the standard 14 day period to compute the RSI
2. Buy when RSI goes to 30 or below (Number 3 must be true for this to be true).
3. Buy only if the volume traded on the previous day was 20,000,000 or above (It doesn't matter what stock it is).
4. At least a 90 days holding period after stock purchase. You need huge discipline for this, their will be ups and downs.
5. Invest same amount on each trade i.e N500,000 or what ever. (Don't worry, trades matching this criteria will be very few)

Some results:
1. Stock data: March, 2020 to December, 2020
2. In total 20 trades: 18 winning trades and 2 losing trades.
3. Used 500,000 per trade
4. Total turnover was 10,000,000
5. Profit after trading fees 3,894,000

In fact, I will be adopting this strategy after a few more tests grin
