Rivers State governor, Mr Nyesom Wike, has explained that his action on October 8, 2016, where he allegedly intervened in the midnight raid on the house of a judge, was not geared towards stopping the Depertment of State Services, DSS, from arresting the judge, but to ensure that the right process was followed. The governor spoke, yesterday, at Government House, Port Harcourt, when he granted audience to the leadership of Non -Indigenes Without Borders, chaired by Mr Emeka Onowu. He said: “We have a sad situation where everything is being done at the federal level to kill the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. However, in the end, it is their own political party that will die.” He declared that the Federal Government was working relentlessly to kill the PDP. He noted that in the long run, it was the party that controls the Federal Government that will die politically. He stated that deliberate efforts by agents of the Federal Government to stagnate development in Rivers State will not succeed. The governor expressed dissatisfaction with the repeated plots to rig the forthcoming re-run election in Rivers State. He noted that nobody would be allowed to steal the mandate of Rivers people, no matter the deployment of security agencies. “They are repeatedly shifting the date of the re-run election, so that they can have a convenient time to rig. Nobody should be scared of their plan to use DSS and police to rig the re-run election. “The policeman that is carrying gun, how many people can he kill? In Turkey where they resisted the Army, are they not human beings ? Nobody will circumvent the mandate of Rivers people,” Governor Wike said. He said that as an opposition state, the people of Rivers State were aware that they will have battles for survival from those who control the federal level. National Leader of the Non-Indigenes Without Borders, Onowu lauded Governor Wike for providing leadership that has helped to shape democracy in the country. He commended the governor for being a detribalised governor who caters for all interests and ethnic groups. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/10/stopped-dss-operatives-arresting-judge-wike/

Abuja – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has urged a review of Nigerian laws to enable anti-graft agencies in the country retain a percentage of the loot recovered to fund their operations. The Acting Chairman of the commission, Mr Ibrahim Magu, made the request at the national anti-corruption conference organised by the Presidential Advisory Committee against Corruption (PACAC) and the National Assembly in Abuja. The conference which began Tuesday will end Wednesday. Magu said the review will be in line with international best practices. “In some jurisdictions like the UK, proceeds of crime are further used to strengthen the agency,” he said. “In EFCC, we have been struggling for years to build our headquarters and when I think of the billions of naira we recover, I can see what would have happened if we are allowed to apply a percentage of this recovery into our operations.” The EFCC boss also advocated the amendment of the country’s anti-graft laws to place the burden of proof on the accused in corruption cases. “One the issues that concerns us in the EFCC is that of non-conviction based recovery. “It is of great concern to us that the burden is on us to prove in court that this is a proceed of crime. “But in other climes the accused has to prove that the property he has, actually represents the fruit of his labour. “There is the need for the Act to make a provision for an application of the proceeds of crime into recapitalising the anti graft agencies.” Magu was represented at the event by Mr David Tukura, the Deputy Director of Planning, Policy and Statistics of the commission. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who opened the conference, called for more support from Nigerians for the Buhari administration’s efforts at recovering stolen funds from looters of the nation’s treasury. Osinbajo lamented the state of corruption in Nigeria. He said the country stands the risk of remaining underdeveloped if nothing is done to stem the tide of corruption. The President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, said the anti-corruption war being waged by the government should not be a tool for political witch-hunt. “In order to succeed this time, we cannot afford to make the fight against corruption a simple matter. We cannot afford to make it a chase in the dark. It must be rooted in effective strategy and demonstrative plan.” Saraki emphasised the need for the anti-corruption campaign to be a collective responsibility of Nigerians to rid the country of impunity and hardship. The theme of the conference is : “The Role of the Legislature in the Fight against Corruption in Nigeria”. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/10/ibrahim-magu-wants-efcc-to-be-allowed-to-keep-percentage-of-recovered-loots/

lanreni:Section 158 (1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, has unequivocally provided for the independence of the National Judicial Council vis-à-vis directing or controlling it by any authority or person while exercising its powers. Section 160 of the 1999 Constitution, Council fashioned out: Judicial Discipline Regulations; The NJC has sole responsibility of disciplining members of the judiciary. Guy go and read your books.... you are still a loser and a self-servicer. Quote me with facts and precedents or get lost |

I read the press release verbatim and I fully support the NJC on this. I have said it and I will keep shouting it that we should not fold our hands and watch the APC FG led government turn Nigeria into that of Germany in Hitler era. This is how it started. gradually and steady, putting fear into supposed enemies, undermining rules and law and grabbing and withholding powers to himself. Before it is too late, Senate should call Buhari, and all executive apparatus to order or we will go down one after another. Hitler did it in Germany with his handpicked evil secret police and terrorised opponents. A time came, the whole nation was subdued and started dancing to his mad songs. He led Germany into a costly war and the whole Germans paid dearly for their silence. Corruption fight should not be used as an undertone to silence perceived enemies. Different institutions of government are there to act as check and balance to other. When one of the institutions hijack the other powers, we are then in autocratic rule and no more democracy. Don't mention me to spew rubbish plz. sensible response is appreciated **SayNoToCorruptPractice **FightCorruption **JusticeForAll |
You don't have HIV in the first place otherwise, you would be singing a different tune by now. What you had might be as a result of what you eat, the drugs you took or the allergic from water you bathed with. All in all, your emotional distress due to the fact you think you had HIV later made u lose weight and became lean. Sex without protection with different partners is bad but you had no HIV. but you need to go test to confirm ooo ![]() |

[quote author= Sane Nigerians are behind the arrest of judges and other corrupt members of the political class. Some call buhari a dictator but if dictatorship is what is required to sanitize the system you have the support of patriotic Nigerians. Invade the home of looters, break their doors and safes with sledge hammers, brutalize them with your DSS and make them pay for short changing the state. We must sanitize the country for the upcoming generations[/quote Am not in support of the arrest of the judges in any form... NJC are the ones mandated by law of the land to deal with the fate of any judge. no matter how good your intentions are, if you derail in carrying it out through the lay down procedures, you are not better than a criminal. Justice must be carried out well |

Cc lalasticlala what's on your snake mind now? |
The longest snake - ever (captivity) is Medusa, a reticulated python (python reticulatus), and is owned by Full Moon Productions Inc. in Kansas City, Missouri, USA. When measured on 12 October 2011, she was found to be 7.67 m (25 ft 2 in) long. Medusa also holds the current 'Longest Snake - Living (captivity)' title. In Kansas City, Missouri, USA, those who look directly at Medusa may not do that – but they certainly come to a stone cold stop. That’s because the Medusa you find at the city’s Full Moon Productions isn’t some mythological figure of yore. It’s the longest snake ever in captivity. Medusa, a reticulated python, clocked in at 7.67 meters (25 feet, 2 inches) long in its official world record measurement, on October 12, 2011. Reticulated pythons – named as such because of the grid-like pattern of its skin – are on average the world’s longest snakes, but adults normally grow an average of between 3-6 m (or, 10-20 ft). But there is nothing normal about Medusa. The 10-year-old snake required 15 men to hold her at full length in order for her record measurement to be taken, and her diet consists of a combination of rabbits, hogs, and deer served biweekly. She’s been known to eat a whole, 18-kg (40-lb) deer in one sitting. Medusa herself weighs 158.8 kg (350 lbs). Reticulated pythons primarily populate southeast Asia, Indonesia, and the Philippines and are also known as great swimmers. In 1912, a specimen shot in Sulawesi measured a jaw-dropping 10 m (32 ft 10 in). However, unlike Medusa, the unnamed animal was never kept alive in captivity. Medusa is currently housed at “The Edge of Hell Haunted House” in Kansas City. Her handlers say she can actually tell when it’s “showtime” for patrons, as she will go into what they call performance mode. During this time, Medusa will stay completely still for those passing by to get a full glimpse of her in her record-stretching glory. For those passing through the American Midwest, Medusa is surely a showstopping addition to any itinerary. A helpful hint: she is known to purr like a cat when she’s happy and hiss when she’s angry. Considering the size of this incredible creature, we recommend slithering away yourself if the purring ever stops. The previous record holder was reticulated python (Python reticulatus) Fluffy. When measured on 30 September 2009, she was found to be over 7.3 m (24 ft) long. Fluffy sadly died at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, Powell, Ohio, USA, on 26 Oct 2010 due to an apparent tumor. She was 18 years old and still 24 foot long. www.guinnessworldrecords.com
