No Hausa speaker can say he speaks pure Hausa. The Hausa language is heavily influenced with Arabic, and the average speaker code-switches between Hausa and Arabic, the same way the Igbos and Yorubas do with English. The truth of the matter is that Hausa cannot be spoken without adding Arabic words/expressions to it. |
Olukumi is a dead language. Have you asked yourself why there's a deliberate effort to revive it in Aniocha? Those people who once spoke the language have been absorbed. |
Somalia with a lesser degree of killings. |
Seun, Why is this thread allowed to run, while a similar one on Awo has long been locked? www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-452641.64.html Yoruba tribalism, I guess? |
Is Ogbuefi an Ika man? |
alj_harem:Yes, but not a part of any boko haramic kingdoms. |
If this story is for real, I commend the good people of southern Kaduna. They make me proud. Brave folks. |
Rochas is making Fashola(one of the frontline, hard-working governors) look like a dullard. With the way he's going, I wonder what will happen if he has Lagos state's kind of funds? |
5000 sacked council workers= 5000 new narcotics farmers. It would be a suprise to me if youths in Ekiti start running naked on the streets after having too much 'igbo' to smoke in the next 3-4 months. Smh |
I'll suggest you do an academic study of the language first(like get an Igbo-English dictionary, audio-visual renditions in Igbo, listen to many Igbo songs for right pronunciation, etc). Thereafter, seize the opportunity of your visits to Nigeria to spend more time with Igbo-speaking friends and relatives. Let them know your desire to learn. P.S Igbo dialects can be very confusing for a new learner. If you can, stick to learning only one dialect for now, maybe your own dialect. |

The fear of boko haram is the begining of wisdom. Nigeria is on the edge of total islamization. I laugh in Ahmadinejad. ![]() |
igbo boy:I just lof Enugu. Lots of great things coming out of there. I'll call it the centre of entertainment of the East. |
alj_harem:Fake kanuri man. When I'm around them all the Igbo I've forgotten start coming back into my brain. They speak more Igbo than English. End of. |
Negro_Ntns:You mean self-infliction? |
ChinenyeN:I'm tempted to feel so too sometimes. I just hate the arrogance exhibited in the defence of not being Igbo. But then I reasoned that I have not met many in real life, these fools that usually come online might be making things up or simply expressing their delusions. |
I even have some of my nephews and nieces who cant speak English without adding Igbo to it(as in they express their thoughts more better in Igbo and use it to explain something they said in English), contrary to what one poster said here. above. It's annoying how some ignorant posters come here to say things they have no idea of. |
I wouldn't discourage a Yoruba from bringing curses upon himself. Please my Yorubas let's continue using the word jor. No lele. ![]() Let's not mind these omo Igbos, letting continue cursing the Yoruba race with Ode***** |
Blowing up pipelines and oil installations wont affect Boko haram. Makes no sense. |
oludashmi:In fact, learning Igbo will give you mouth cancer. Monkey. afam4eva:Not true. Seems you've never met a speaker with a good command of the language or a speaker bred in an Igbo-speaking community. Obiagu1:NL is full of lunatics. Are you just knowing that. |
igbo boy:Dont mind these silly Ijebu people coming to talk what they do not know about. Igbo boy, thanks for that link on wizboyy. I use to think he was from Enugu. I dey the dude music die, especially the 'obodo' track with godwon. |
