I think there are some biblical references showing similarities between some Igbo and Hebrew words which the proponents of this theory use as their arguments.
They may be correct. |

You can't be more wrong. Southerners are are actually safer in the north than they are in the south. Especially south east. I know What politicians have done to the country these last few years is not helping matters. I also know that the southern press and and have demonizing the north as a pastime but I recommend that you have a sincere discussion with southerners who have been living in the north. I have some southern friends who wouldn't dare step into their states of origin for fear of being kidnapped , robbed , killed , witches, poisoning etc. This is especially for the SE and Akwa ibom. they are happier to remain in kano, kaduna, sokoto , yola etc. Please ask them. They are happier to be eventually butchered by Almajiris? People like you are deceivers out there to fool unsuspecting ones. |

All Igbos dont come from one source. Just a combination of groups who have become united by one language. |

onye_ngbu*: In all honesty, hausa must be easier cos I learnt if from our mai guard. Hausa language is mainly cut-and-join .
Then there are hausa guys in my VILLAGE where any other language is rarely spoken; these guys have lived close to 30 years there yet, they cannot speak fluent igbo.
Could this be that non igbos have less interest in learning igbo? You hit the nail on the head. Interest is the word. Some of these folks that complain that Igbo is hard are only too lazy and have shown little or no interest at all. I keep saying Igbo is a very sweet sounding language, especially Anambra dialects. I've met an Hausa guy that taught me more Igbo. He lived most of his life in somewhere in Anambra because he spoke like one of them. |

Thank God we do not have this kind of religious confusion in Igboland.
I just keep having this feeling that some Yoruba groups might clash due to the growing consciousness for Islamization going on in the country. If the Ife and Modakeke could kill each other over land dispute, the line of such a similar confrontation between any other groups over Shariah is thin. |

Negro_Ntns: From what you explained here, then Igbo is not monolithic on culture, religion, rituals, customs, but language is the only common thread and the dna of identity.
In Yorubaland the common thread or dna of identity is hereditary link and rituals.
In Hausa the dna of identity is religion and rituals.
Thank you my man. Yoruba royal families have a different ancestry with the rest of yorubas. |

Especially when they are traveling home to enjoy their Ego. Are you serious? I think the recession has affected their proceeds from weed planting. Dont expect that from Ekitians. |

dem_people: The thing that so pisses me off is when Nigerians talk about 9ja, they always try to compare it with other countries and using those countries as a yardstick for our failure/sucess/progress.
Please, the Ghana you are writing about, is about less than a quarter of 9ja's population, has fewer industries and less developed.
The SE's present and future industries + the population - being the most densely populated area in Africa, needs a lot of power generation and even 20000mw is a conservative estimate. I do not think I brought up naija in my post. We are talking of the SE only here, right? Which I compared to Ghana considering it's size. My argument is that at the moment generating 20000MW electricity will result in under-utilization. It will take more industries springing up to get that point. Honestly, I do not see what could attract that large concentration of industries to the area. size. My argument is that at the moment generating 20000MW electricity will result in under-utilization. How many industries exist to use up even 4000MW, talkless of 20000MW?
The whole of Ghana with better vibrant factories is using about 1000MW of electricity. |

'Igbo'- preferred and correct spelling. Also, more common in modern literary works.
'Ibo'- incorrect, but imposed spelling. Increasingly becoming archaic in modern literary materials. |

Is it a hydro-electric power plant?
I do not think such a source of power generation is what will be suitable for industrial use as stated in the article. The huge sediments in that part of the Niger can not sustain a hydro-power plant. |

But it was a hit already by the original artist, so no big deal. I'm kind of really feeling Jayo Sauve's efforts in 'Ime Ogbe'.
