I am tired of hearing of these ban in every state. What brought about Okada in the first place, is it not unemployment? Has it been addressed? What is crime rate like in these states, where Okada are banned and in Nigeria? I just tire, even though it is good. |

texbiano: @Poster,
While I admire your seeming dedication and hard work in trying to criticize the man who many would regard as the best governor in Nigeria today, I don't understand your motive. Is it a critique or criticism? No one says Fashola is a saint; certainly not me. But the we should be able to praise and encourage people when they perform. No one would say Fashola has done badly. No, not one!
Critique is good. In fact, it is necessary for development. My problem with your stance is that you do not seem to see anything good in the man. And I find that surprising. Your post was a long, long one but I tried to read it all through and there was no where you sounded a word of praise for the man. I ask you therefore: would rather have an Igbenedion as governor? Think about it, brother. Think about it.
Let us learn to criticize constructively; not with intent to destroy or malign. Na wah oh!. There are some facts here oh!. |

uplawal: i dnt just now why they have to compel people to pay taxes in nigeria upon our oil and other natural resources, am very sure if the west have half of our oil and other natural resources they will never tell their citizens to pay taxes, but would focus on utilising their resources in a good way,our govt is too corrupt to think about this anyway,i just wondered why some people will be so happy that they are paying taxes, shiorr People must pay taxes, even when the resources are there. A responsible government know what to do. |

I personally prefer good governance, which will rapidly transform that area, than calls for Oil city capital. Even if this is achieved, and there is no good governance, then, it is same of the same. |

babapupa: Relax, there's no need to get defensive. I said River state, not PH. If you're going to challenge my figures, challenge what I claimed, not what I never said.
I posted 5 million as the entire population of Rivers state and if you have a different figure, go ahead, post yours and make me look silly.
I don't have the figures for PH but I do have the one for Rivers state based on 2006 estimates hence what I posted. Hmmmmmm!. I dont want to jump into your discussion, but what is happening here? |

I have read through all the argument for and against. The only issue here is that, although, Fashola must have done one or two things which his detractors are now using against him, but he deserve commendation. If amongst 36 governors, he stole (as acussed), but he made people feel at least for now, good governance, what do we do? Where he has defaulted, lets caution him, and please lets make him continue. We can start building better governance, from him. When he is celebrated, others will learn. He is not a saint at all, but he is the best for now!. |

blackadam: This thread makes me luff to the bone. Nigeriannnss! una like to dey fool una selfs sha. Giant fool of Africa. Truth must be said, Southie is better than Niaja anyday and anyhow you look at it. HIV or no HIV, the human catastrophic disasters in this country is worse-off than any HIV infected person in SA and Haiti combined. Jos, Niger Delta, bauchi, Yaradua, political killings, perpetual ritual killings, infact, killing no dey make sense for niaja again. Economically you are not competitive, standard of education, national infrastructure, health, military, name it. So how are you better than RSA? For una minds ehn? You guys brag too much, no wonder, everybody hate your guts anywhere u go, even Ghana. Hmmmmn, keyword is, learn to be humble and cryout for help and assistance. Truth again must be said, we need help. Just open your mouth and name how you take match with SA? A country of just 50million. Shame on you. No wonder you cannot even organize your house. Fashola who is even trying, dem wan commot am. I agree with one of the poster, Nigeria is a shitty slum and a sick nation which should focus on matching with Ghana and the likes, not SA, don't even go there. At least not now.
Rubbish!!! Nonsense!!!! The truth is that, we know our problems, and we all know the solutions. Cut off all the Northern states, and kill corruption even to its roots, then give Nigeria another five 5 years with trustworthy leader, whether we will never take our rightful place. Though I will never advice Nigeria to be boastful again, because it never helps any nation. With tribalism reduced to the bearest minimum, and federal character killed, so many other arrangements put n place, Nigeria will bounce back. The major problems here are : Corruption, Hausa man and Islam, tribalism, federal character, poor planning, and very bad leadership structures. We have all it takes to turn around this country. Gives us a very strong Naira, and regular power supply, and reduce dependence on imports, while giving incentives to encourage export. This will lead to job creation, and reduce poverty, while making education possibly, free and compulsory at all levels. |
