Foreign AffairsMap Shows World's 'Most Racist' Countries (and The Answers May Surprise You) by otumfour(op): 8:10pm On May 16, 2013
An international poll has revealed the world's least tolerant countries - with Hong Kong at the top of the list and Britain near the bottom.
The global social attitudes study claims that the most racially intolerant populations are all in the developing world, with Bangladesh, Jordan and India in the top five.
By contrast, the study of 80 countries over three decades found Western countries were most accepting of other cultures with Britain, the U.S., Canada and Australia more tolerant than anywhere else.

https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/05/16/article-2325502-19D0189E000005DC-313_634x274.jpg

The data come from the World Value Survey, which has long been measuring the social attitudes of people in different countries, as reported by the Washington Post.
The survey asked people what types of people they would refuse to live next to, and counted how many people chose the option 'people of a different race'.
Researchers have suggested that societies where more people do not want neighbours from other races can be considered less racially tolerant.

The country with the highest proportion of 'intolerant' people who wanted neighbours similar to them was Hong Kong, where 71.8 per cent of the population would refuse to live next to someone of a different race.
Next were Bangladesh on 71.7 per cent, Jordan on 51.4 per cent and India with 43.5 per cent.

Racist views are strikingly rare in the U.S., according to the survey, which claims that only 3.8 per cent of residents are reluctant to have a neighbour of another race.
Other English-speaking countries once part of the British Empire shared the same tolerant attitude - fewer than five per cent of Britons, Canadians, Australians and New Zealanders showed signs of racism.

People in the UK are also tolerant of other differences such as speaking a foreign language or practising an alternative religion - for example, fewer than two per cent of Britons would object to having neighbours of a different faith to them.
Similarly, fewer than one in 20 people in most South American countries admitted harbouring prejudice against other races.

The Middle East, which is currently dealing with large numbers of low-skilled immigrants from south Asia, seems to be a hotbed of racial tension, however.
Europe is remarkably split - the west of the continent is generally more tolerant than the east, but France is a striking outlier with 22.7 per cent of the French rejecting neighbourhood diversity.

Some have pointed out problems in the survey data, claiming that because the polls span a long period of time they are an unreliable guide to current attitudes.
However, a more serious flaw could be the fact that in most Western countries racism is so taboo than many people will hide their intolerant views and lie to the questioners.
Max Fisher of the Washington Post suggested that maybe 'Americans are conditioned by their education and media to keep these sorts of racial preferences private, i.e. to lie about them on surveys, in a way that Indians might not be'.

RomanceRe: I Cheated On My Boyfriend With A Married Man - Please Advise by otumfour(m): 6:40pm On May 13, 2013
Aleovera: Hello house,

I have been a consistent guest on this forum and decided to hop on to the next level by becoming a member.. yayy smiley

Okay so, as regards the subject, let me start by giving a brief description of myself or the sort of person I used to be. I used to think of myself as really disciplined, principled and one who would never compromise her values or standards. Also, I used to be so quick to pass judgement. I never could understand why girls dated married men and deluded themselves into thinking they were in love! Not only did I find such circumstances disgustingly annoying but also judged the ladies as silly, stupid, gullible, irresponsible, thoughtless, selfish and cruel!

I also had zero tolerance for people who cheat on their partners. I saw them as discontented and highly undisciplined individuals.

However, I have had reason to change my perspectives as a result of some recent happenings in my life!

I cheated on my partner with a married man! shocked I am totally shocked at myself! The crazy part of this is that I think I fell in love with this married man! My boo and I are tight and have been together for well over 4years and I always thought I could never be attracted to any other man. I have tried to put an end to this craziness because it just ain't worth it but its so hard.

The purpose of this thread is to:
1) Let you all who think so highly of yourself to be careful lest you fall. Never say never! Never think you are too disciplined or smart or principled to fall for certain temptations. Those who know me will never believe me if I tell them I fell for adultery (I can't even believe myself)

2)Seek counsel from people who have gone through this kind of stuff. You had an affair you knew you had to get out of but just couldn't, how did you deal with it.

What I have been doing lately is praying and deliberately not contacting this married dude. (I still find myself thinking about him)I also told my boo I needed a break!

Please let's discuss maturely as I believe there are so many people going through this kinda stuff but cant share with anyone because of the fear of condemnation and peoples hypocritical and self righteous attitude!

CelebritiesDamon Dash Fears Eviction As He Drowns In Debt From $24k Alimony To by otumfour(op): 9:55pm On May 12, 2013
Damon Dash was once living the high life as partner at Jay-Z's record label but now the man claims he is deep in debt and is pleading with a judge to not garnish his wages to pay off his creditors.
The hip-hop entrepreneur claimed in court filings this week that he is overwhelmed with personal bills, including $24,000 in alimony to ex-wife designer Rachel Roy, and could be evicted.
The 42-year-old is pleading with a judge to allow him time to deal with his financial mess.

https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/05/11/article-2322982-19B9ADF9000005DC-430_634x445.jpg
Dash submitted a sworn statement to a judge in Manhattan asking for leniency as his tries to manage his finances and asking that his wages not be garnished, according to the New York Daily News.
'I am currently several months behind in paying my personal bills,' he wrote on Tuesday in the 5-page filing. 'For instance, I am currently over $100,000 behind in rent for the only home in which I live and at risk of being evicted.'
According to the court filing, Dash pays $24,000 every three months to his ex-wife, with whom he has two daughters.
He is also making monthly child support payments of $4,341.10 for his son, Christian, from another relationship.

Additionally, he has amassed thousands of dollars in debts, tax payments, and lawsuits from his various business dealings, including a $237,078 outstanding loan, suits brought by landlords, fashion designer Charlotte Ronson and even a celebrity bodyguard firm.
Though Dash sounded desperate in his court filing, he downplayed the sense that he is in dire straits in an email, sent from his lawyer, to the News.
'I'm an independent businessman and this is what comes from business,' Dash said, according to an email from his attorney, Gregg A. Pinto.
'I have the guts to fight my battles on my own and it's entertainment to everybody else because I'm so cool about it,' he added.
https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/05/11/article-2322982-19B9AD9D000005DC-596_634x473.jpg
Dash's rise in the entertainment world began when he met an up-and-coming artist Jay-Z, then just known as Sean Carter, in 1994.
Mesmerized by Jay-Z's talent and ambition, he forged a tight friendship with the hip-hop artist and together they founded Roc-A-Fella Records in 1996.
In 1999, they founded Rocawear clothing line.
https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/05/11/article-2322982-19B9AD80000005DC-826_634x641.jpg
Dash even dabbled in Hollywood, he served as a producer for The Woodsman, starring Kevin Bacon and Paid in Full with Mekhi Phifer. His sister is Clueless actress Stacey Dash.
He began a high profile romance with singer Aaliyah and the pair were engaged, until her tragic death in August 2001 in a plane crash.
Between 2002 and 2004, reports indicate that Dash's indulgent lifestyle, with several luxury properties cross the globe and his outlandish spending, became too extreme.
Jay-Z reportedly grew weary of Dash's ego and ambition and they had a falling out that lead to the sale of Roc-A-Fella to Def Jam Records in 2004.
At a meeting in December 2004, Jay offered Dash a $22 million buyout, $7 million in cash.
In the aftermath of the split, Dash started his own label but it has met with little success.
During his time at Rocawear, Dash met and married one of the line's designers Rachel Roy in 2005.
She launched her own, eponymous line, with her husband's backing in 2005.
The Rachel Roy brand has met with tremendous success and is a favorite of First Lady Michelle Obama, Kate Hudson and Jennifer Garner.
The powercouple had two daughters, Ava and Tallulah, but split in 2009.
