CyberG:

It is only "ibo" you saw in the entire write-up you tribalist man? Do you know ibo is the correct word used all over? I am not here to pick an argument over pedantic issues like you raised but do you know there are tons of literature using words like ibos, eeboes, Igbos, eibos? Anyway, it doesn't really matter because most of you here are still mad at the loss of your stoopid war and you blame everyone else for it, deliberately mis-spelling their names!
Lil niggi, you are an aszhole, upon all your useless education that awo gave you all, yet you do not know the diff between Igbo and Ibo.
This thread is dead as there is nothing new to be discussed. Thread is nonsensical.

If Ijaw or any group attacks the Ikwerres, there will not be any group that will come to their aid apart from their Igbo kins. You may not understand that they are Igbo until Ijaw makes a mistake of invading them.
You know the consequences that why you have not tried it.

Truckpusher: why would you waste your precious time trying to educate these ignorant igbos...pazienza is only demonstrating his lack of knowledge in history and geography yet i find it appalling the manner which they carry themselves, bragging abt a great igbo nation when 85% of negative name calling of nigerians in foreign countries are crimes being committed by this great and wonderful people...great and wonderful indeed mtcheew.
Stop this your silly logic. In my own community, God is also called Chukwuabiama, Abiama Igwe. Does. That make my community less Igbo.

IchieEzeji: @Chixomx2, your reference to Brazil and Portugal is a very funny one indeed. That reference doesn't apply to the relationship between Igbos in the South East of Nigeria and Igbos outside the South-East (some of whom deny their true identity)such as Ikwerre, Etche, Ogba, Ndoni, Egbema, Ekpeye, (all in Rivers State),Anioma (in Delta State), Igbanke (in Edo State), etc. Brazil was colonized by Portugal, hence they speak the same language, just as Nigeria was colonized by Britain.
The people of Aniocha/Oshimili are very proud Igbo as well as Etche and Egbema. Igbo denials exists in Ikwerre mostly in Emohuah (45%, Ukwuani, 15%, Ika 25%, Ekpeye, 30% and Ogba 30%. So they are in minority.

osifred: ignorance they say is sometimes bliss. thank you okija_juju for your times and effort to educate people on this forum.

to say omoku is a non factor in the scheme of the Nigeria nation leaves me speechless not because i lacked words but the high level of ignorance which am not going to grace with a reply but to urge those guilty of such to embark on a fact finding mission. you will be surprise to know what omoku contribute to the nation Nigeria via their oil and gas.

@post. just for the record i am against any law that for what ever reason prevents a Nigerian from buying and investing in any part of Nigeria whether Omoku or any where else. i want to believe this is an infringement on the right of a Nigerian. discriminating a person because of his ethnic background.

they say their is no smoke without fire, igbos not being able to buy land in omoku in particular (and not ONELGA as the thread wrongly imply) has not always being the status quo, something must have prompted it, some where something must have gone wrong (to the best of my knowledge that is the only problem within the omoku man and the igbo man apart from that the two parties enjoy cordial relationship. is this evident in the fact that about 75% of traders in the omoku main market are igbos).

from history we were told that the igbo man abused the privileged of buying land in omoku when they wanted to overpower the indigenous people and establised an igbo kingdom in omoku, a situation that will make them have a parallel kingship stood in omoku. (for more info on this. you can read the book. Ogba nation. volume one by Mr. Ben-Fred Ohia and Mr. Henry onyedibia.)

back to the issue i think the Nigerian government though the ministry of local government should look into this issue of denying a Nigerian the opportunity to buy land in any part of Nigeria.

brokoto and okija_ juju i will like to interact more with you guyz.

Ben Ohia and Onyedibia, are they Igbo or Hausas?.
No need bringing up this useless thread. Omoku are Igbo people as well. Can someone say that Offa people do not sell land to Yorubas when in actual fact, Offas are Yorubas. This thread is nonsensical.

DID ANYONE READ WHAT I WROTE OR GO TO THE SITE I SENT YALL. MOST OF YOU ARE HERE GIVING YOUR OPINION ON WHAT THE RED HAT IS. THE FACT IS..CHILDREN AND NON TITLED MEN SHOULD NOT BE WEARING IT PERIOD.IT IS DISRESPECTFUL TO OUR FOREFATHERS AND IGBO TRADITIONS. YES IN ABIA,especially ngwa where my mom's people are from wear the knitted red, black and white santa claus hat looking. Keep in mind each clan have their own regular chief hats, then as you gain more titles you gain different hats. THE RED HAT IS THE ONLY PERMANENT HAT IN ALL IGBO CLAN...BECAUSE ITS MEANT FOR WARRIORS!! THE BLACK HAT>>MOST PEOPLE NEVER ACHIEVE TITLES TO THAT LEVEL. There is the tall red hat..worn by deltans and ikwerre igbo..then small red one worn mostly in anambra, enugu, the black by higher ranking members that the king blesses( its special, but the red over powers it in certain decision making-according to my maternal grandpa..depends on the situation. The red is usually given to those who are wariors and black to non wariors..red signifies..blood and earth). My grandpa also says in order to truly be accoladed with the red hat and black and raccon tail hat(red, black and white knitted one) you must be able to speak in adages, write in nsibidi and understand them. There are so many rules. you cannot just shake..you must use your nkupe, odu nnama, or back of your hand to greet three times, then pull apart and snap your hand as a sign of respect and understanding...and while doing all these you are praising eachother in proverbs if you are found to be a fake you are usually banished from the land..That is where many secret society rules draw from.. and only those bestowed the honor can know it. SO WHEN THIS GENERATION STARTS DESTROYING THE SACRED TRADITIONS OUR FOREFATHERS LEFT FOR US, THINK TWICE BECAUSE YOUR CHILDREN WILL ONLY FOLLOW WHAT YOU TEACH. WHEN YOU WEAR THE SAME RED HAT YOUR TITLED FATHER OR GRANDFATHER WEARS..YOU ARE DISRESPECTING HIM< NOT HONORING HIM, CAUSE YOU ARE BASICALLY TELLING HIM THAT YOU ARE MATES< AND THAT HIS ACCOMPLISHMENTS AMOUNTS TO NOTHING.
Common lil girl, spare your long silly sermon in this thread. If I wear a red hat, then you should come and arrest me. What sort of nonsense are you preaching here. We all know the significance of the red hat, but this is a modern era, people wear what they like. Have you not seen people wearing a neclace with cross yet they are not xtians. Why not go and preach to them.
The Igbo people of today wear the red hat as fasion and it fits them well that is what matters. No need foaming through your yeye mouth on who should wear the red hat or not. I hope this will settle in your tiny brain.

Meepe soup and fufu - Delta.
Ogufe(goat meat) ofooro( smoked fish) and small amount of veg' and egunsi soup with pounded yam - Ekiti.
Unripe Banana and Yam - Osun - iles to be precise.
pounded yam and egunsi too cuts across so many tribes but its most done well in - Osun.

PhysicsQED: The "Ekiti produces a high(er) number of professors" claim does seem to have mirrored some element of reality at one time, though. I don't know how true it is now.

G J Afolabi Ojo (geography/history)
J.F. Ade Ajayi (history)
Adegoke Olubummo (math)
D. F. Ojo (physics)
Sam Aluko (economics)
Benjamin Osuntokun (neuroepidemiology)

I think at one time they had a real head start on some other groups. Don't know about the proportion of professors compared to other groups of similar size though. In all likelihood, some other groups of similar size could probably list a similar number of professors back in the 60s and 70s as well.
Ekiti has lost it. Even Edo state is producing more than Ekiti now. It's true.

In Andonni, large percentage of them speak Igbo despite not being Igbo. In Bonny and Opobo, Igbo is also widely spoken yet it is not an Igbo territory. That is how Nigeria is. In Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa etc, some non Hausa communities out there speak Hausa yet not Hausa. Same applies to Ilaje where Yoruba is also spoken. The groups that speak Igbo in rivers can be Opobo and even at that, some are going back to their Ijaw language again. Don't start this dumb lies here. I am not as ignorant as some others here, I know Igbo history through and through and the more you talk about others the more I know Igbo mentality.

Kalabari DON'T SPEAK ANY FORM OR IGBO

What does dubu mean in Igbo because it is something in Kalabari and infact dubu means the same in yoruba

ebaa or baa mean in Igbo ? you care to answer Baa means tomorrow in both kalabari and yoruba

A yoruba man would say O di baa, which means "see you next time/tomorrow"

What does Iro mean in Igbo ? In kalabari it means false/lies same as yoruba

Andoni people are not Igbos but Kalabaris. However, Igbo is widely spoken in Andoni but that does not make them Igbos. Same applies to Ilaje and some groups in the north who are not Hausawa but speak hausa.
