Abagworo:

Some parts of Imo State equally call money "Awai" and still use "wa" for go. That's Ohaji subgroup and then Uratta subgroup use "li" instead.

I will still maintain that the standard Southern and Northern urban Igbo lingos is the best thing to happen to us. Almost all Igbos understand them while a minor percentage cannot speak urban Igbo.

As for ethnicity Ikwerre isn't Igbo and Igbos should accept that we have no common front in politics or identity. The arguments should purely be about language and history.

They may not be vocal but a large number of them are happy with their Igbo identity.
Politics / Re: An Open Letter To The Leaders Of Etche Nation by oturugo(m): 6:18pm On Feb 09, 2017
Since the days of Azikiwe and Igbo union, the Etches have always been represented in Igbo affairs. They are not like some Ikwerres who deny Igbo. Uche Okwukwu's position may shut up those who deny Igbo in Ala Ikwerre.

How about Abiribas who call money okpogho. By your poor reasoning, they are not IGBO. Am sure if there is a free education program for IGBO people lets say in Canada, all the confused people deny Igbo will jump to it. What a shame.

Am an ikwerre boy.. Full blooded ikwerre boy.. I know my history and origin.... Please igbos leave us alone..

You are not making any sense at all. Abiriba and Abam people call money okpogho instead of ego. Does that make them non IGBO.
Am sure you and your confused Ikwerre people will be the first people to travel to America if for instance President Trump permits free visas for Ndi Igbo to America.

We know who we are... I no that at the very beginning we didn't produce scholars who will tell and explain our origin and history to the world.. Yes we have similar language.. Our bia (come is your come) but our LA (GO is different from yours) our money..ewhyia is different . U call money ego... Our traditional believes are different from yours ...the way we dress our masquerade is very different from yours... Our cultural and traditional dance is different from yours... Our way of life is also different.. Our royal highness throne moves from family to family . But ur royal highness throne remains in one family.. We wear etibo... You wear different.... Yes we all wear red beads.. Red caps.. But we are different people. But still one love brings us together.. We loves ourselves.. Ikwerre marries igbo.. Igbo marries ikwerre. . An I even loves the way igbo women loves marring our men... Pls let's stop this argument.. We are all one.. BE you bayelsa.. Rivers state.. Akwa ibom.. Calabar.. Delta.. All the igbo states.. We are all one.. We wear the same red caps.. The same red beads.. The same culture and tradition..the same dressing patterns.. That's what makes us one.. That red and white caps.. Proves to us we are one.... Can't you see we all loves ourselves.. We are not afraid to visit any of our lands.. Because we know we must be welcomed.. Please stop the argument.. We are one..

tribes around south east and south do not just hate igbo without reasons, after force some of this people to change their names and speak igbo, a good example is nsuka and ikwerre people. Why Do Igbos still try to force their identity on ikwerre people of river state but hate and reject nsuka people of enugu state maybe it because ikwerre are bless with oil and nsuka are not ,if ikwerre are igbo why do the take igbo property after the civil war ?

Bingo, stop writing about a people you know nothing about. Did any Ikwerre man seize houses from their Igbo brothers?. No. It was done by the Ijaw led administration in Rivers state.
Bingo, for the last time, Ndigbo see Nsukka as Igbo. Stop creating idiotic divisions here. FOOOL.

The Yorubas here should hide in shame. They are not doing well at all. Does it mean that it is only katsumoto and dayokanu that are are good at saving the Yorubas here. Yorubas should go and bring them or shut up forever. They have disgraced the entire Yoruba nation this Xmas.

Poor boy, you have nothing sensible to contribute anymore. Go and rest Biko. It is clear you are not Igbo but do not make a mistake of saying ukwuala, Ukwuani or Ukwuana is not Igbo. Few of you who are not Igbo should leave Ndigbo alone either in the east or west of the niger

Pharoh:

Thank you agboaten for this because this is what i have been trying to point out to them but they will not see it. How can someone say ukwuani is a dialect of a created igbo language when there are three major variations of the ukwuani language and slight variations across the clans in both ukwuani and aboh areas. It is that simple respect and recognition that is giving them problems but thank God that Ikas and Ndokwas are organised more than the over 40 million so called igbos.

Even look at the aniocha/oshimili guy that should tune in to our organization expertise in anioma and go on with their enuani language and identity but he wants to kill himself with the igbo identity. Well it is time we just leave these guys to their folly and pursue our destiny as we so wish, a lot is going on behind the scenes but they are just so ignorant.

You guys keep on talking about obi of asagba like he speaks for the whole anioma people, except monarchy in ukwuani land a king does not leave his domain for Christ sake to go and attend meaningless ohaneze meetings. We have our apex organization and just like ikas we are working hard to realize our destiny and forge ahead. Do they even know about the underground coalition to resurrect the midwest or bendel republic again?.

Like i said it is not productive to continue this discussion with you guys because you keep yapping about benin this and benin that but we keep on telling you that we are ikas and ndokwas but the explanation keeps flying off the window. So those who still wants to throw abuse about bini vagabonds can take over the thread for all i care.

Dude, it's high time you stop this your idiotic argument here. Why do you continue to mock yourself.
Hon Oputa who was a founding member of Ohanaeze was from Ukwuani. So what's your beef with Ohanaeze. You think they lack attendance.
If Ukwuani has different dialects doesn't make it a language of its own. How about Mbaise that has over 5 dialects, yet one Mbaise people. Outside Ohanaeze, they still have their own umbrella association called Ezumezu Mbaise. Yet, they are not silly to disclaim Igbo.
Please give us a break here Biko.

Rumu, umu, omu or any version is still same. Meanig chldren of a particular progenitor.
In Igboland, where you come from affects your tongue. Some Igbo mames are like Nwogu, some call it Wogu. Some say Ekwumekwu while others say Ekumeku. Some say Iselu Ukwu while others say Iselu Uku.
IT DOESN'T MATTER. WHAT MATTERS THAT THEY ARE ALL IGBO.

igbo boy: It is ill logic to say that the traditional ruler of a town has a bini name hence the people are bini..
Nobody can deny the influence of the Benin empire on the Western Igbos..

It is true if you look back some of the traditional rulers in delta state where either Bini or had Bini name.

Just like Luggard was the ruler of Nigeria and other oyibo people after him till we Nigeria got independece. The same way britain sent their people to Lord over conquered territories is no different the Bini sent their chiefs to Lord over conquered territories. So when you look at the history of some igbo town and you say that oh, the first ruler was Oba efe omorogie hence the people in the town are of Bini ancestry that shows that people like agboanten are ignorant...

The ruling elites were usually not from the town and those that were, tried their best to assimilate to the overall kingdom's way of life...

The first ruler of Nigeria was a british man, i guess we are british smh.

does not make sense to me that ika are from bini and now they have lost their bini way of life...
Well said.

chux4liv: I'm "Ika" (from Umunede), when I read how Umunede kingdom was formed, the founding father was from Bini kingdom. Historical fact also portrayed how the Igbos came from riverine areas (onitsha and neigbhouring villages) to trade in Umunede, I guess that resulted to inter-ethnic marriages and similarities in language. (I guess this true becos it also happen between me and my siblings, we code-mix Yoruba language with our mother-tongue while communicating simply becos we were born and breed in Lagos).
The adopting of Igbo names among Ika people I believe was becos through Igbo, christianity was introduced in umunede Kingdom. Igbos name is more christian-like, compared to our native name (real Ika name) that is of bini gods/idol (osunbor, osemenim, oshimihin, idumuoba, ileje, isawe, egbetimeh etc).
Same silly logic everyday. Would you say that Ondos are not Yorubas because of no Yoruba sounding names there e.g Agagu?. Even in my home town, we have some non sounding Igbo names there without a meaning today yet we do not disclaim Igbo. I know one family with the surname Govu, yet it doesn't sound Igbo.
The Christians didn't use Igbo language in evangelism in Okrika, Ogoni, Ikot Ekpenye etc that are near Igboland because they are not Igbos. If Christians used Igbo in your village that means you are Igbo. this your logic is brainless as other posters like you have done here.

Stop chatting nonsense here. Have you stayed in Rumuigbo or those communities with Igbo fixation to conclude they may not be Igbo. How can a group of people within Igboland call their town Igbo this and that yet you are not sure if its Igbo.
If you are an Igbo, am sure you will know that till today, people still bear Igbo as a surname. You will not know this because you are not Igbo, so stop discussing Igbo affairs so that you dont mislead readers who come here to learn. Please stop this nonsense.
