The Nigerian Army on Tuesday said, its attention has been drawn to a fake advertisement notice for recruitment into the Nigerian Army Medical Corps, which is trending on social media titled “Eparcel Service for Military Hospital February- March 2019” requesting unsuspecting prospective applicants and members of the public to apply for various appointments/positions in the Military Hospitals. A statement from Col. SAGIR MUSA, Acting Director Army Public Relations said, the advert further requested applicants to forward their documents in PDF format to ikebethe99@gmail.com with N2,000 fee for “parcel charge” and N500 for “institution form” which are to be paid into Ike Bethel Chinemerem account, with United Bank for Africa account number 2084734943. The statement said it was a fake recruitment and must be disregarded. The statement said, “While effort is on to track and apprehend the syndicate, members of the general public are hereby informed that the advert page is fake and a scam meant to dupe unsuspecting members of the public. “In this regard, it is important to further educate and emphasise to members of the public that the Nigerian Army does not charge applicants money for application forms, recruitment or appointments into the service. “Members of the public are therefore enjoined and encouraged to report any person or group parading as agent of the so called “Eparcel Service for Military Hospitals” processing fake recruitment on behalf of the Nigerian Army Medical Corps. “The general public is also advised to be suspicious of dubious offers of employment especially through the social media and report such offers or person(s) to the nearest Army location or the Nigeria Police Force for necessary action.” The statement said https://thickmatch.com/medical-corps-recruitment-fake-army/

Face threat of losing second tenure. see more threats here https://thickmatch.com/umahi-compels-local-government-chairmen-financial-autonomy/ Ebonyi state Governor, Engr Dave Umahi, through the instrumentality of his commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy matters, Barr Samuel Okoronkwo, has compelled all the chairmen of the thirteen LGAs of the state to sign a prepared document against the financially autonomy granted the Local Governments recently by President Mohammad Buhari or lose their second term bids. As it stands now, almost all the council chairmen have warily signed the document, affirming that they are not in support of the financial autonomy. With this, they are now assured of an automatic second tenure as council Chairmen. More so, the governor through the commissioner for Local Government, is now prevailing on the council chairmen to mandate all the ward councillors to append their signatures on the document as that is another compulsory requirement to validate the document which must be submitted tomorrow. However, the forum of Ebonyi state Ward councillors had earlier today convened an emergency meeting at Fatilami park, Abakaliki, to war against the document. Addressing the over 100 councillors, the chairman of the forum and leader of Ohaozara LGA, Hon Ogbonnia Okorie Ekpe warned that no councillor should ever contemplate signing such document, describing the document (if allowed to survive) as anti people. Therefore, my people. Are you from Ebonyi State? Do you know your ward councillor? Or do you know any councillor from Ebonyi state? I urge you to quickly call the councillor and straighten his courage. The pressure is too much on each of them as I'm talking typing this. Embolden Him/her never to sign that document no matter the weight of the alluring bribe. It is all about tomorrow; the future of our children and that of generations unborn. Attached herewith is a copy of one of the documents. I am Sampson O. Nweke. (Senior Advocate of the Masses, SAM). Human Rights activist/Social crusader.

The Rivers State Police Command has debunked rumours of a terrorist attack on Community Secondary School (CSS), Oroworukwo (D-Line) in Port Harcourt City local government area of Rivers State. Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Nnamdi Omoni, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt, said the incidence that occurred in the school, had no resemblance of cult attack. The statement reads in part: “The attention of the Rivers State Police Command has been drawn to a video making the rounds and trending on social media, on the alleged attack on students and staff of Community Secondary School, Oroworokwo, Port Harcourt by student cultists and unknown persons. “Honestly, the command is disturbed by this development and consequently wishes to disabuse the minds of the public and state the true position as follows; “That on May 23, 2019 at about 10:30 hours, the Principal of Community Secondary School, Oroworokwo, Mra. Ruth Major launched a complaint with Olu Obasanjo Police on the denotation of a chemical weapon (canister) by two students of the school; which caused stir and panic in the school. “That on the receipt of the compliant, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) CSP Lucky Omoniyi detailed ASP Love Tenalo to the scene, whereupon two students namely: Nicodemus Nkaparo ‘m’ 18 years and Darlington Sylvanus ‘m’ 17 years were arrested and taken to the station. “At this point, it has become increasingly necessary to state in an unmistakeable term that; that the incident at Community Secondary School, Oroworokwo was not a terrorist attack or any attempt to kidnap students. “That it has no resemblance of cult attack. that investigation is still going on with a view to unveiling the circumstances surrounding the incident and bringing the culprits to justice “That so far, normalcy has been restored to the school and it’s environs as normal school activities have resumed in earnest. That the Rivers State Police Command is poised to ensure that sanity is maintained in all primary and tertiary institutions and to guard against breach of security in schools.” Omoni said the two suspects admitted in their statements that they actually detonated the teargas canisters, without knowing that it was a chemical weapon. He said: “At the station, the Principal made statement relating to her complaint and two suspects were cautioned and equally made statements, where they admitted, detonating the substance but however denied knowing that it was a chemical substance capable of causing panic and tension. “In his statement, Nicodemus Nkaparo confessed to have brought the canister from their house, which was part of the belongings of his deceased elder brother who was a policeman. He stated further that he did not know that it was a chemical weapon (teargas) which can cause panic and tension. “But unknown to him, his friend, Darlington Sylvanus detonated the substance, which threw the whole school into confusion, as people scampered for safety while some sustained injuries. “That at the end of the interrogation, the two suspects were given administrative bail and released unconditionally to report back on Monday, May 27, 2019. “That as part of the investigation, the Police team executed search in the houses of the suspects but nothing incriminating was found. Furthermore, the team visited the scene and the hospital where three students were receiving medical attention. “That at the end of the exercise, the team called all the staff and students and assured them of protection and warned them to be law-abiding as police will not spare any effort in dealing with delinquent students.” https://thickmatch.com/follow-police-arrests-student-brought-gun-teargass-school/

First read more here https://thickmatch.com/apc-reaffirms-decision-foil-godwin-obaseki-second-term-ambition/ Just a few days after an Obaseki family delegation paid a visit to the Secretary of the Edo APC, Lawrence Okah, whom the Governor is in an open feud with, at least five of other Godwin Obaseki's brothers were seen at a meeting convened at the behest of Barrister Henry Idahagbon. Idahagbon who is spearheading efforts by the party to shop for a more credible Governorship candidate come 2020 as against Godwin Obaseki having another term hosted a meeting of Edo APC leaders yesterday where Obaseki was roundly rejected. In a recent interview, Barrister Henry Idahagbon, the immediate past Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Edo state, described Godwin Obaseki as a clueless neophyte who has failed politically and administratively. He has championed efforts by the party to replace him at the ballot in 2020 with a better candidate who, he believes, has the capacity and temperament for leadership. The attendance of the meeting with Barrister Henry by Godwin Obaseki's brothers is an affirmation of the Governor's rejection by his own family members who are both appalled at his poor governance style and personal conduct. Those who made the list are Pastor Eki obaseki, Mr Osamede obaseki, Mr Victor Obaseki, Hon Benjamin Obaseki aka Ciger and Mr Ewere Obaseki. Apart from introducing them, Idahagbon called them out one after the other and asked them to have a handshake with Engr. Evbuomwan, who chaired the meeting. As earlier reported, the widespread disaffection for the Governor by his own family members is connected to Godwin Obaseki's arrogance and immaturity which led him to tell his late uncle, Justice Otutu Obaseki, that he deliberately avoids his own family over an assumption that every contact with them would lead to incessant begging. For a man who has such a low view of his own ancestry and familial ties, it is not a surprise he is finding it difficult to have any true support now that he has been discovered a failure - and staring rejection in the eyes

Zamfara civil servants on Saturday bade the outgoing state governor, Abdulaziz Yari, farewell at the last Ramadan breakfast of his eight years tenure as governor. The labour leader in the state, Bashir Mafara, at the governor’s private residence in Talata-Mafara, commended the governor. “Your Excellency has made remarkable achievements that have now made the state better than it was and your relationship with the workers have been relatively cordial. “Sir, while commending you for the release of N2 billion recently to offset the backlog of pensions, we also want to plead with you to offset all outstanding debt before you finally exit next week. “We wish you luck in all your future endeavours as you finally leave office as governor and pray that your successor continues with the good work,” he said. Also, the Speaker, Sanusi Rikiji, who prayed Allah not to put the governor to shame as he handed over, assured the outgoing chief executive that “we shall continue to follow your guide as our leader”. The speaker urged all APC supporters in the state to be “patient, steadfast and supportive of each other as we leave office and government as a party.” Responding, Mr Yari said that “everything that has a beginning must have an end; I wish to give thanks to Almighty Allah for seeing us through this day and to assure you that even though I’m now exiting as governor, we will continue to meet in different capacities to discuss matters of mutual interest. “l thought my successor would come from our party, but the Supreme Court judgment says no. I am now praying that the new leaders will work for the peace, unity and prosperity of our state. “The incoming administration should also consolidate on our efforts, especially in tackling banditry which has bedevilled the state over the years. “l also wish to draw the attention of all our supporters and members of our party, the APC, to remain calm because we have already accepted yesterday’s (Friday) Supreme Court Judgment nullifying our state party primaries and the elections. “As Muslims, we believe that whatever happens has since been ordained by Allah and He alone knows what the future holds for us,” he concluded. https://thickmatch.com/apcs-ouster-zamfara-ordained-god-gov-yari/ The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Supreme Court in Abuja cancelled the election that gave victory to the APC in the governorship, state and national assembly elections for failure to conduct an acceptable party primaries. The court also directed that all the positions should now go to the political parties and candidates with the second highest number of votes, a development which gave the mandate of the governorship position to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE SECOND MEETING OF THE EDO PEOPLES MOVEMENT HELD ON SATURDAY 25TH MAY,2019 IN BENIN CITY. After extensive deliberations on and review of the political developments in the ruling All Progressives Congress in Edo State, the group made up of over 300 Leaders and members of the Party across the State resolved as follows: That we hereby declare our unalloyed support for the National Leadership of the All Progressives Congress ably led by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. That we are committed to rescuing the All Progressive Congress in Edo State due to the monumental loss it suffered in the last Presidential and National Assembly elections as a result of the actions of Governor Godwin Obaseki towards the party and its members. That as the next Governorship Elections in Edo State approaches we are resolved to work and deliver any candidate who is adequately equipped to strike a balance between delivering on good governance for the people and promoting the party platform that formed the government. Governor Godwin Obaseki certainly does not fit into this condition That we urge the National Leadership of our party the APC to support this efforts else we stand the risk of losing hold on the government of Edo State to the other political parties with whom the Governor is already empowering clandestinely. That we condemn in the strongest terms the resort to intimidation and harassment of loyal party members by the Governor and his aides on account of their dissent with the style of Governance and not fulfillment of promises made to many Local government areas. For example: a.The Governor recently threatened to deal with the State Secretary of the Party Mr. Lawrence Okah if he does not heed his demand to resign as Secretary on account of his closeness to the National Chairman of the party. b. The Vice Chairman of Orhionmwon Local Government Council Hon Eleduwa was recently purportedly impeached by Councillors on the prodding of some aides and acolytes of the Governor on account of his closeness to the former Deputy Governor of the State who also contested the Governorship Primaries in 2016 with the Governor. c. The Governor recently threatened to disallow an elected member of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon Chris Ewere Okaeben from being inaugurated in the upcoming Assembly. d. A Special Assistant to the Chairman of Uhunmwode Local Government Council was recently sacked on the orders of a latter day convert of the Governor on account of his posts on social media about the state of infrastructure in Uhunmwode LGA. All these and many more acts of harassment and intimidation of party members have been the hallmark of the Governor Godwin Obaseki administration. That we note with great pain the unwholesome attitude of Governor Obaseki during the last Presidential and National Assembly elections wherein he discriminated among the candidates of the party by supporting those he considered his candidates and starved those he considered the candidates of the National Chairman thereby resulting in the collossal loss of that election in two out of the three Senatorial districts in Edo State. Indeed Governor Obaseki lost his ward, local government, federal constituency and Senatorial District. That we demand the immediate opening of the five star Central Hospital in Benin City built by the Comrade Adams Oshiomhole administration and the resuscitation/ opening of the Tayo Akpata University , Ekiadolor and College Of Agriculture, Iguorhiakhi for the use and benefit of Edo Citizens. That we urge the State and National Leadership of the All Progressives Congress should note and enforce stringent measures against the Governor whose anti party posture which has become a matter of public knowledge. So Pathetic This is Amoji Imenyi Autonomous Community in Bende LGA, the home local government of a former governor of Abia state and the richest man in the State, Orji Uzo Kalu (OUK) and the senator angling for the position of deputy Senate president. He was a governor for 8 years, looted billions of naira yet he could not fix these roads. Interestingly, APC is shielding him from prosecution.
