Senate President Bukola Saraki says he is not desperate to stay in office. However, a condition has to be met: his removal must be by two-thirds majority of the upper chamber.

Saraki said this on Wednesday while addressing a ‘World press Conference’ on Tuesday’s siege to the National Assembly by the Department of State Services (DSS).

The Senate President defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in July, sparking calls for his resignation/impeachment by the ruling party.

Analysts posit that a quorum of 73 out of 109 senators is required to effect the impeachment of any principal officer of the red chamber, excluding the leadership of party caucuses.

The lawmaker also called on the Federal Government to hold accountable agencies and heads of government establishments who go out of line or default on their duties.

Other speakers, including serving commissioners, like the commissioner for science and technology, Nse Essien and chairman of Ibom power company, Etido Inyang, as well as Sunny Ibuot, former chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local government, all denounced Akpabio’s defection, while pledging their support to Governor Udom Emmanuel.

It was gathered that similar rallies were held in all the local government headquarters in the senatorial district as a demonstration of the people against the defection of the former senate minority leader.

Meanwhile, at the Ikot Ekpene township stadium, Senator Akpabio was formally received into the APC by the party’s National Chairman Adams Oshiomole.

On Monday, August 6, 2018, a twitter handle, APC Newspaper, which claims to be a social media mouthpiece for the ruling party, All Progressive Congress announced that President Muhammdu Buhari has raised NYSC allowance to N49,800.
This writer, however, tweeted at NYSC to confirm the credibility of the APC Newspaper’s tweet about the allowance increase and @officialnysc replied saying it is a rumour.
Shortly after responding to the tweet that asked the agency to clear the air on the rumour @officialnysc immediately deleted the tweet.

Politicians need to wake up, otherwise one day, Ghana will wake up one morning and they will hear people say Shatta Wale should be president,” he said.
Born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., Shatta Wale is known as a controversial character for his outspoken nature but he is not known to be political. It will be interesting to find out how he his candidacy will be if he indeed decides to contest. Moreover, he cannot contest until 2024 when he will be 40 years, the minimum qualification age to contest for president in Ghana.

Well, it is not her body, it is God’s. Let us not be quick to take out God in certain situations. God remains God and no man can take his place. Lucifer with all his powers failed. The first child of her parents… The last time I travelled to the village, I did ask her mother about her and she said she was fine.
My peace has eluded me. I cannot articulate my thought.
