When I said GMO, I was referring to the fact that the gene pool has been tempered with, reason they are referred to as a HYBRID species, the purpose of the breeder for producing a hybrid is for the retention of survivability, good egg production and increase carcass quantity to surpass the quality of the parent stocks but by the time these are used in crossing same family stocks, you are bound to face many abnormality because the FILIAL issue comes into play here.

GMO stands for genetically modified organism.. which means actively altering the genome of an organism by knocking out or adding a new gene that was previously not inherent in the organism. example is the glowing mice. Your explanation points at heterosis and not GMO

My candid opinion bro, don't crossbreed with boilers cock because noiler is a GMO product, my experience handling such project as you are doing now in time past are;
DOWNSIDE: The prototype (offsprings) don't usually give the result you have in mind before embarking on the project, this they are smaller in size compared to the parent ( cock).
Secondly, majority of the cocks are not potent enough to deliver results as hen ends up laying more stale eggs ( table eggs) than fertilized egg.
Last but not least, most of the hen ( offsprings)never go broody, even if they will do, it takes like eternity to happen.

The only good thing about them is that like the parent stocks, they combined the ruggedity and survival ability of their parents.

You do have a great point, apart from the GMO part which i disagree with.. there is nothing genetically modified in noiler. The right term would be genetically improved.

Just yesterday, I was talking about starting to crossbreed various heritage chickens with local hen and broiler parents. We called several sources to see where we could get these breeds, and we discovered that none of them had 100% pure breeds. I strongly believe that to buy a 100% Fulani breed, one must travel to a genuine Fulani village with no other breeds present. Let's see. I am planning to import pure 100% breeds since it is Gulder Ultimate Search in Nigeria. And I am not sure of what I will get.


I like your project, and anyone who is into local chickens and noiler will definitely be interested in what you are doing.

Attached are the ones I am interested in getting. They will make excellent crossbreeds with the available local breeds here.

Finally, I do not believe we have any good F2 generation Noilers available. Honestly, we don't. The day-old chicks sold are not pure F2 chicks. I am not particularly interested in noiler, but just saying.

As you rightly said it is probably difficult to get a pure breed line.. but if you are willing to breed for it, you should get it at about F6

Not to discourage you but you probably wont have alot of improvements because the noilers and broilers you would be using have been bred in such a way that you cant get much of genetic merit from them. If you really want to improve our breed, you need more local birds, performance data and pure lines (parent stock or grandparent stocks of broiler and noiler).

It is mandatory for all the 2016/2017 PDS Students (with JAMB Score > 180) & UABS Students (with JUPEB Score > 6 points) to register for the Post-UTME to enable FUTA capture them in the new JAMB Central Admission Processing (CAP) template. Kindly help circulate the news.

Important notice to all Aspirant's

1. It's only aspirants who Scored 180 and above that can register for the screening exercise, if you scored below 180, don't bother to get the form to avoid waste of money and time.
Direct Entry(DE) students are expected to put in for the registration, and transcripts will be submitted during the screening exercise.
Pre degree students should also put in for the post utme, as the pre degree final exam results will be out anytime soon.

2. Note that it's the registration for the Computer-Based Post-UTME screening exercise that is being stated for 4th of September to 18th of September, duration of two weeks, not the post utme exam it self. As the exam date will be communicated later after the registration. In which another form will be available for the post utme exam. The form for the registration is 2000 naira and 300naira will serve as bank charges for e-transaction, it makes the form 2300naira only. Candidates are not expected to come down to FUTA before they could get the form, the form can be purchased in their locality at any Bank that uses e-tranzact, (i.e First Bank, UBA, Gtb, WEMA bank). There is public holiday today, the form will be available starting from tomorrow 5th September, after securing the form, candidates will log on on futa website to complete the registration.

3. The students union leaders in which the welfarism of their members is their concern, will make provision for accommodation for candidates who doesn't have where to stay for the post utme exam. A week intensive tutorials will also be conducted for candidates in order to get familiar with the possible questions that can be asked

Aspirants should beware of fraudsters who might ask you to pay certain amount of money that they will help you in securing admission. No students has access to processing of admission, the student's union leaders are there to put aspirants through on how to go about the admission process.
