Politics / Christains Guard Muslims While Observing Jumat Prayer During Protest In Abuja by owukpa(m): 9:33pm On Mar 24, 2023

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-8Ad9un1wc

A classic expression of religious tolerance and beautiful display of diversity occurred on Friday when a group of protesters paused its protest and gathered round to protect Muslim faithful as they held their Jumat prayers.

The event was day four of the ongoing protest by the Free Nigeria Movement manner of conduct and outcome of the recently conducted presidential poll.

Members of the group who were seen marching on major roads of Maitama in Abuja, the nation’s capital, sang solidarity songs with placards that showed their displeasure with the election of 25th February, 2023.

The procession rose from the Unity Fountain and berthed at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

However, when the protesters arrived at the INEC head office, it was time for Muslim prayers and they passed the demonstration to allow Muslim faithful (both men and women) to observe their Jumat prayer while being encircled by Christians.

The convener of the group, Dr. Moses Paul, explained that the protest became necessary due to the magnitude of impunity committed by the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Yakubu Mahmoud, during the collation of results describing the presidential election as a charade and the worst in the history of the country. He said the spending on the election juxtaposed with the outcome culminated in total waste of the nation’s resources.

According to him, “Prof. Mahmoud represents everything that is wrong with Nigeria today. He had a simple straightforward role of collating and announcing the will of Nigerians. There are rules, guidelines and laws guiding conduct, collation and declaration of results. He spoke extensively on the promise of a free, fair and all inclusive election. But he chose the path of shame to become an instrument in the hands of the enemies of Nigeria.” He maintained that the protest is neither for nor against any particular candidate but against “any further desecration of our laws,” insisting that “Nigeria sits at the edge of precipice and any more flagrant display of injustice or promotion of illegality, could upset the balance.”

A classic expression of religious tolerance and beautiful display of our diversity occurred when the group paused its protest and gathered round to protect the Muslims as they held their Jumat prayers.

Responding to the allegation by the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Barrister Felix Morka that the group is made up of disgruntled supporters sponsored by Mr. Peter Obi and Dr. Yusuf Datti Baba – Ahmed of the Labour Party, Dr. Moses Paul described them as unfounded, fictitious and a ploy to stoke bile and ill sentiments against lawful Nigerians who are within their rights to express displeasure with a fault that has the potential to bring harm to our democracy reiterating that the group and it’s demands are non-partisan.

The group maintained its call for the sack, arrest and prosecution of the INEC chairman, and the establishment of an interim government which will appoint a new INEC chairman to conduct a rerun of the presidential election. The protest continues tomorrow.

Politics / Tinubu: Fresh Protest Calling For Annulment Of Presidential Election Hits Abuja by owukpa(m): 6:51pm On Mar 22, 2023

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZtNk7usORw

Some protesters, under the auspices of Save Nigeria Movement on Wednesday, stormed the National Assembly in Abuja to register their displeasure over the outcome of the February 25 presidential election in Nigeria.

The protesters who carried placards with various inscriptions such as “Save our Democracy,” “Politicians are killing our Democracy,” and “INEC killing the Nigerian Democracy,” among others, reiterated their earlier call for the annulment of the 2023 presidential election.

The protest, which took off from the Unity Fountain in Maitama, paralyzed vehicular movement in the heart of the nation’s capital for hours.

The demonstrators, however, met stiff resistance as they were denied entrance into the National Assembly premises by security men.

The DPO of the National Assembly who came out to address the protesters said there was no written request for permission from the group or the relevant authorities, and as such, the protesters cannot be allowed into the National Assembly premises.

Leader and co-Convener of the Free Nigeria Group, Dr Moses Ogidi Paul, while addressing newsmen, described the Independent National Electoral Commision, INEC, as a failed institution.

He called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of its chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu for supervising what he tagged a fraudulent presidential election.

Other members of the group equally expressed their pain over the conduct of the presidential poll.

This is coming less than 24 hours after the group staged a similar protest to the headquarters of INEC where they demanded immediate removal of the INEC chairman.

Politics / Protesters Call For Interim Govt, Want INEC Chairman Arrested by owukpa(m): 5:59pm On Mar 21, 2023

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShtmfRTgFbY

Protesters under the aegis of Free Nigeria Movement on Tuesday called on President Muhammadu Buhari to annul the February 25 presidential election and set up an interim government pending the conduct of a fresh election.

The group also called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of Prof Mahmood Yakubu, chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for allegedly supervising what they described as a fraudulent presidential election.

They made the demand during a protest to the INEC headquarters in Abuja.

Convener of the FNM, Moses Ogidi-Paul, who spoke on behalf of the group, expressed their displeasure over the conduct of the February 25 presidential election.

His speech in full: “On the 25th of February, 2023, Nigerians trooped to their polling units with one mission, to cast their ballots and choose their next leaders.

“Our binding lines were unbroken: in ideology, they held us together; in trust, they washed us like water; in truth, they kept us alive. We breathed the full breadth of what being citizens should be in a progressive secular society. So, when the day finally arrived, we had no doubt in our hearts, in the portion that always questions truths, that our votes must count. But nothing could bolster our belief like the assurances by Mr President, Muhammadu Buhari, and INEC chairman, Prof Yakubu Mahmoud.

“Recall that a little over a year ago, President Muhammadu Buhari appended his signature to the Electoral Act Amendment Bill 2022. The fanfare that greeted that appendment can well claim recognition as one of the most colourful in our recent history due to its unbroken allegiance to the Nigerian spirit. On that day, we were neither Igbo, Hausa nor Yoruba. We were not Efik, Tiv or Urhobo. No, we were not Gbagyi, Kanuri or Ijaw. On that day, we were Nigerians full of the positive energies of our land.

“I hate to announce that today in the heart of some, all this has gone to waste. You may have seen the video of the diasporan who tore his passport. Some other Nigerians have done the same to the fabric of identity because INEC through Prof. Yakubu Mahmoud chose to silence their voice.

“So I ask, “What is the value of democracy if the process that recruits its leaders consistently lacks credibility?” Perhaps, the answer is at the International Conference Center where Prof Yakubu Mahmoud began, sustained and concluded the collation and declaration of a candidate as winner of the presidential election based on falsehood contravening its guidelines and the Electoral Act.

“It is most disturbing that this was done in the full glare of the world. Never has our democracy been so sorely abused by any citizen in either public or private service. Prof. Yakubu Mahmoud has raised a bar of impunity that will cost our country many years of electoral excellence to correct.

“This was not the electronic transmission he promised Nigerians and the world at Chatham House. Prof Yakubu Mahmoud has lied to Nigerians and abused our right of choice.

“We pass a vote of no confidence and call for his immediate sack and prosecution. We cannot afford to continue the culture of performing lawlessness without consequences. We are as strong as our laws and as tall as our institutions. We cannot afford to descend any lower than this.

“We, therefore, call on President Muhammadu Buhari, whose commitment to free and fair elections is engraved in the legacy of the Electoral Act 2022, to initiate processes and procedures that will bring Nigeria under the control of an interim government pending the resolution of all litigations pertaining to the conduct of the February 25 presidential election.

“Our country needs healing. It will be counterproductive to allow a fraudulent process to subsist as fraud will eternally birth fraud. We cannot grow our democracy on falsehood and suspicion.

“The holes in our national fabric must be woven shut. One way is to immediately establish a Truth and Reconciliation Committee in Lagos State and other flashpoints of voter intimidation and violence during the presidential, National Assembly, governorship and State Assembly elections. This will help build trust, confidence and further ethnic cooperation among Nigerians.”

Today, the people of Benue State, the nation’s food basket state, will march to various polling units across the 23 local government areas in the state to elect their next governor.

Governor Samuel Ortom’s constitutional tenure will elapse by May 29.

Right from the second republic in 1979, the governorship race in Benue, like most states, has always been a two-horse race.

The fierce battle for who will become the first Executive Governor of Benue State between Aper Aku of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) and Paul Unongo of the Nigerian Peoples Party (NPP), which the former best the later to, set a precedent of two-party dominance politics in the state.

And, this is not likely to change with the March 18th, 2023 governorship election as either of the two major contenders Titus Uba of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is looking to take the day.

IDOMA VOICE observed that despite the recent surge of Peter Obi’s Labour Party, the LP guber candidate in Benue State, Herman Hembe, would not alter the two-horse nature of governorship election in the state as the ‘Obi effect’ would no longer be there on the day of the governorship and State Assembly elections as it was with the presidential and National Assembly elections.

Political analysts predicted that, at best, Hembe will come a distant third, and at worst, he would finish behind popular minority party candidate, Dr. Matthias Oyigeya of the Accord Party (AP).

The Surulere Constituency I State Assembly election is looking to be a movie because of how fierce it’s promising to be and practically as the front runners are actual actors.

With veteran actor and movie producer-cum-politician, Desmond Elliot as the candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and ‘The Johnsons’ star, Olumide Oworu as the flag bearer of the raving Labour Party, the election promises to be a clash of Nollywood titans!

While Elliot is the incumbent lawmaker representing the constituency, 28-year-old Oworu still stands a chance with the recent surge of the Labour Party, backed by the euphoria of the Obidient Movement.

Moreso, Elliott is currently out of grace with Lagos’ social media-savvy youths.

Politics / Governorship Election: List Of States Labour Party May Win by owukpa(m): 2:49pm On Mar 17, 2023

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odFDWhMkd1c

Over the years, Nigerian politics has largely been dominated by the People's Democratic Party (PDP), and the All Progressives Congress (APC) which ceased power in 2015. But since last year, the Labour Party (LP) has been making inroads into the fulcrum of national politics in a revolutionary-esque.

What started as a social media movement has metamorphosed into a national political revolution.

While the Labour Party is not a new party or merger, it's worthy of note that the decamping of former PDP Vice Presidential candidate, Peter Obi to LP, brought a new life to the party with the spring of the Obideint Movement.

The 'Obi effect' may no longer be there directly on the day of the governorship and state Assembly elections as it was with the presidential and National Assembly elections, but the scooping of 40 National Assembly seats by the Labour Party would surely give the so-called major parties reasons to worry in the governorship and state assembly polls. Especially, in states where the Labour Party won the presidential elections.

Idoma TV's analyses suggest that the Labour Party may win the governorship poll in States like Lagos, Enugu, Abia, Nasarawa, Ebonyi, and Delta.

The LP won the presidential election in all of the above listed states.

In Lagos particularly, the popularity of the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, fondly called GRV is growing day by day. Like Obi, his candidacy is driven by the youth.

From all indications, GRV will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the incumbent governor, Babajide Sanwaolu of the APC, and Abdul-Azeez Adediran (popularly called 'Jandor') of the PDP in the March 18th governorship election in Nigeria's Center of Excellence.

The Labour Party also has a good chance in Enugu State. The LP candidate, Chijioke Edeoga stands a good chance against Peter Mbah of the PDP and Uchenna Nnaji of the APC.

Moreso, the party won seven Reps seats and one senatorial position in the state.

Moreso, Elliott is currently out of grace with Lagos' social media-savvy youths.

Recall that the veteran thespian made himself a 'public enemy' with his insensitive comments about the youths during October 2020 EndSARS protest.

Lagos youths may finally get revenge at the March 18 poll by voting against Elliott.

This means that they would vote for one of their own, Oworu who luckily is in a youth-friendly party, LP.

Peter Obi's victory in Lagos over the son of the soil, Bola Tinubu of the APC in the presidential election, means that the state is a stronghold of the Labour Party.

Also, the victory of a less-known, Attah Thaddeus of the LP over the famous Nigerian singer, Bankole Wellington, alias Banky W, in the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency election, would boost the confidence of other LP candidates in the state.

However, Elliott's biggest undoing would be his reported abysmal performance and non-charismatic leadership style.

But then again, the game of politics is tricky, no one can confidently predict how the pendulum would swing.

Politics / Fr Alia Vs Titus Uba: Who Wins Benue Guber Election?- IDOMA VOICE ANALYSIS by owukpa(m): 2:03pm On Mar 15, 2023

Right from the second republic in 1979, the governorship race in Benue, like most states, has always been a two-horse race.

Political analysts predicted that, at best, Hembe will come a distant third, and at worst, he would finish behind popular minority party candidate, Dr. Matthias Oyigeya of the Accord Party.

Yes Father! - A Popularity Test?

Many were perplexed when a certain suspended Catholic Priest, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia defeated popular contenders like Senator Barnabas Gemade, Michael Aondoakaa (SAN), Chief Stephen Lawani, and other bigwigs to clinch the highly coveted All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in Benue State in a controversial manner. But for those in the known, it was no surprise!

Before the disputed APC gubernatorial primaries, which adopted a highly controversial direct mode, words on the streets had it that Alia was being tipped by the leader of the party in the state, Sen. George Akume, and his wife, Regina Akume, to clinch the party's ticket.

Whether or not the speculations were correct or otherwise, one thing that can't be disputed is that Alia has a kind of magnetic pull - this is evident in how he quickly got himself endeared to the Benue people.

His growing popularity, anchored on the 'Yes Father' slogan, is unprecedented for a man making his first voyage into the murky waters of politics.

However, Alia is not the first priest to vie for the governorship in Benue State. The second executive governor of the state in the short-lived third republic, Fr. Moses Adasu, was also a Catholic priest. Alia is looking to walk in that shoes.

If the results of the presidential and National Assembly elections in the state, were anything to go by, then Alia and his supporters can get set to start "Alialuiah" to the Government House. But then again, the game of politics is like the game of football; anything can happen!

How Far Can Uba Go With The Dwindling Popularity of PDP?

Just as the sun is rising for the APC in Benue, it's almost like it's set for the PDP in the state. Despite this glaring reality, the Governorship Candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Rt. Hon. Titus Uba can still find solace in the ruling status of the party in the state.

Since the creation of the state in 1976, the ruling party in the state has never lost a governorship election to the opposition except in 2015, when Samuel Ortom of the APC defeated Terhemen Tarzoor of the ruling PDP. Even at that, Governor Ortom later decamped to the PDP and won his reelection on the platform of the party in 2019.

But if the saying that history repeats itself is anything to hold onto, then we may find these ironies in the recent political history of Benue state and the present reality interesting: In 2015, Ortom, an acclaimed 'man of God' defeated the candidate of the ruling party to emerge governor.

This year, the candidate of the main opposition party is also an acclaimed clergy. In 2015, Ortom chose his running mate from Otukpo Local Government. This year, Alia also chose his running mate from the same local government. In 2015, Ortom was reportedly given the APC ticket by Akume. This year, the opposition party's candidate is rumored to be "anointed" by the Akumes.

Also, when the PDP lost in 2015, it had John Ngbede as its Deputy Governorship Candidate, this time again, it has fielded Ngbede as its Deputy Governorship Candidate.

But then again, history does not always repeat itself.

Also, analysts believe that the March 18th governorship would be a fight to finish since Governor Ortom (haven lost his senatorial election) would have only the victory of his party at the governorship poll to exact his political survival.

The PDP won just one senatorial seat and one House of Representatives seat in the National Assembly elections in the state.

It is expected that both Ortom, former governor Gabriel Suswan (who also lost his senatorial reelection bid), and Abba Moro (the only PDP senator elected from Benue) would work tooth and nail for their party's victory in the 18th March governorship election in their respective zones.

Particularly, Abba Moro's Zone C is forecast to vote massively for the PDP as it did in 2015 when the party lost. Uba would split Zone A&B's votes with Alia.

If the ruling party factor prevailed at the end of the day, then Uba and his supporters would be on their way to Government House.

But for now, only time can tell as no one can boldly predict which direction the pendulum will swing!

Politics / Election: Enenche Backs Peter Obi, Tells Nigeria To Reject Bad Leaders by owukpa(m): 9:09pm On Feb 19, 2023

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVIE5AM7epQ

Ahead of the February 25 presidential election, the Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr Paul Enenche has warned Nigeria never to repeat the mistake of voting in a bad government.

According to him, two of the major presidential candidates in the forthcoming election were part of the problems currently facing the nation.

Addressing his congregation on Sunday, the cleric said the 2023 presidential election presents Nigeria the opportunity to vote into power a man of integrity, honesty and humility.

He said, “In life, result is a basis of reward. Result is a ground for respect. People are respected based on the result they generate.

“Sowing determines reaping. The question; is what has been the result and the input of those seeking the leadership of our nation?

“There are many presidential aspirants for the forthcoming elections.

“There are three major ones in the forefront. Two of the three are of the two big political parties, whose highest and most important achievement so far was the formation of the coalition that brought this administration into power. They formed it.

“One out of the two actually prides himself as the one who was solely responsible for the arrival of this administration into office.

“Now, what is the result or the impact of their collective input in our nation? One. Inflation: Inflation rate was between 7.79% and 8.5% then. Now, it is 21.83%, the highest in 26 years.

“Unemployment: The unemployment rate was 8.1% in 2015, it has risen to 33.3%, the highest in 13 years and the second highest unemployment rate in the whole world.

“Poverty rate: That is 83 million people today live below the poverty line. Between 2013 and 2012, it was 33%.

“Value of naira: It was N197 naira to a dollar before 2015. It is now more than N750 naira to $1 today: Debt profile. According to the Debt Management Office, Nigeria's debt profile as at June 2015, was 12 trillion naira but at 31st March 2022, it became 41.6 trillion.

“Borrowing: A newspaper reported that the current administration borrowed three times the combined amount that has been borrowed in the past three administrations since 1999. What three administrations since 1999 have borrowed multiplied by three in one administration.

“Insecurity: Insecurity moved from being a regional challenge. It was more of northeast, to a national disaster from major herdsmen and terrorists challenges, now to banditry, to kidnapping, to ritual killing on a national scale.

“Corruption: On the Global Corruption Index from 136 least corrupt countries in 2016, Nigeria moved to 149 in 2020, that is, Nigeria shifted into corruption by 13 positions. Some snakes and monkeys in some offices that were part of those who ate the money.E

“The price of 50kg of rice was between N7000 to N10000 in 2014. Today is N48,000 to N59,000 depending on the type. The price of bread was around N250 to N300 was between 1000 to 1200.

“Price of petrol was 87 in 2014. Now it is 195 naira and in some places above 200 and even 400 naira.

“Price of a litre diesel was around 111 in 2014 now it is 817.86. Now, many people want to blame everything on the nation's president. Not necessarily. You don't blame the failure of a team just on the captain of the team.

“The burden of the failure and the reproach thereof is collectively shared by every member of the team. In our nation today, every member of the coalition that brought us into this season, as well as every member of the cabinet, they are collectively responsible for the disaster of our nation today.

“The question; is do we give authority to those who gave us calamity?

“Do we reward with authority, those who release to us calamity. Do we give leadership to those who give us hardship? They released to us hardship and we want to release leadership to them. No!

“We must change our approach, if we must end our reproach. We must depart from the old order if we must embrace new wonders. We must reject antiquated, anachronistic ways if we must experience exciting and progressive things.

“Aside from all the challenges we explained before now, the presidential aspirants of the two big political parties are part of the problem of the country. The problem the country is in this time by the collective action of bringing us into this leadership that we are in now. They are a part of the problem. They can be part of the solution this time.

“We are left with the only viable, credible, reasonable, reliable option left. Vote value, what credibility, what viability. Vote, Authenticity. Vote, honesty. Vote, integrity. Vote. Humility for simplicity.”

Politics / 2023 Election: 1,000 Groups Promise To Deliver 40 Million Votes For Peter Obi by owukpa(m): 9:49am On Feb 09, 2023

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9KnBF_Sld0

A coalition of civil society organizations, under the auspices of Coalition of Mega NGO(s) and Cooperative Support Groups, COMENGCOSUG, has promised to deliver 40 millions votes to the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi in the forthcoming election.

The coalition, which is the umbrella body of more than 450 NGO(s) and 300 Cooperatives respectively, made this pledge on Thursday in Abuja during its inauguration into the Obidient support groups.

Speaking at the event, the National Coordinator of the group, Pastor Alphonsus Okpeke, noted that studies revealed the personality behind the Labour Party as one who is the most credible and competent amongst all the candidates.

He said, “We have been used and dumped in previous times and this makes us hibernate ourselves to carefully study who to throw our weight behind in this fast approaching general election.

“Our studies revealed the personality behind the Labour Party as one who is the most credible and competent amongst all the candidates. After we have carefully checked the track records of Mr Peter Obi in previous time, we were able to forecast what he can do for the unity and growth of our dear Nation Nigeria.

“We are sure by God's grace he will turn Nigeria from Consumption To a Production Nation. His Resilient Fight Against Insecurities will give us the peace we are looking for. These form out strong reasons we want to give him the overwhelming support that will make him victorious in the forthcoming general election.”

On how they intend to achieve the 40 million votes for Obi, Okpeke added that, “It will also interest you to know that we have structures that evenly spread across the length and breadth of this Nation (by this we have 6 Zonal leaders, 36 state facilitators plus FCT and 774 L.G.A Coordinators.”

Also speaking, Chairman of the coalition, Ambassador Ezekiel Akpan, promised to mobilise members of the group to secure the needed votes for Obi’s victory at the polls.

Speaking shortly after integrating the coalition into the Obi/Datti support groups, representative of the Labour Party and member of the presidential campaign council, Maj. General John Enenche (rtd), decried the worsening situation of the country under the current government.

Culture / Ortom Builds Multimilion Naira Palace For Och'idoma In Otukpo (video/pix) by owukpa(m): 11:34am On Feb 06, 2023
All over the world, palaces are revered for their cultural, tourism, and spiritual purposes. In most climes, it is the most important edifice. Traditionally, palaces are noted for their magnificent beauty and luxurious splendor.

Generally, a palace is a symbol of the pride and glory of any kingdom.

This explained why the Idoma community, the second largest ethnic group in Benue State, has been thrown into ecstasy following the facelift given to the Och’Idoma’s Palace.

The Och’Idoma’s Palace, which is the official residence of Agaba'idu, the Paramount Ruler of the Idoma Kingdom, has been rejuvenated, revamped, and reconstructed into a 21st Century royal abode by the Governor Samuel Ortom administration.

Before now, there was nothing royal about the palace, except for the king that lived there.

A regular visitor to the Idoma traditional chambers hitherto would wonder with one hand akimbo and head bow why the traditional engine house of the Idoma Kingdom was left in ruins despite the community producing who is who in the society.

It was a garment of shame that millions of Idoma sons and daughters wore with disdain.

Merrily merrily, Governor Ortom has taken that garment of shame away and replaced it with a coat of many colors.

In May 2021, the Governor laid the foundation for the construction of an ultramodern palace for the Spiritual Head and Custodian of the tradition of the Idoma Nation.

The project which was funded by the Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs was awarded to a son of the soil, Engr. Agaba Ikwue of Intra Engineering and Turnkey Ltd.

True to his promise of delivering an awe-inspiring dwelling for the Lion of Idoma, youthful Engr. Ikwue oversaw the erection of a befitting ultramodern palace for the royal father less than two years after the foundation laying. The new palace is ready for commissioning.

The construction of the Loko-Oweto road is indeed a big relief for motorists travelling to Otukpo and other eastern and southern parts of the country from Abuja or Keffi and its environs.

Using this route, the people of Benue South Senatorial district travelling from Abuja will no longer have to pass through Lafia to Makurdi or through the longer route of Lokoja-Ejule road to Otukpa before getting to their destination.

Travel / Angry Youths Hold ‘pool Party’ On Dilapidated Federal Road In Otukpo (photos) by owukpa(m): 10:38am On Oct 02, 2022
Some youths on Sunday held what they described as a ‘pool party’ on the abandoned federal road in Otukpo, Benue State.

The Otukpo township road has become a nightmare to not only motorists but residents of the town due to its bad state.

IDOMA VOICE gathered that the dualization of the Otukpo township road 8 kilometre-road was flagged up in December 2018 by the minister of works and housing, TundeFashola, but the road has been left in a serious state of comatose, and quite frankly, it is impassable and literally translating to a death trap.

However, the contractors handling the road, Rockbridge Construction Company, had since abandoned the project, leaving residents of Nigeria's acclaimed Texas City to battle mud and dust during the rainy and harmattan seasons.

Last year, a son of Benue South, Mohammed Odeh Adah, also known as Ochacho, was working on the road to give it a facelift and make it motorable for his people, but was stopped by the ministry of worlds and housing.

Since then, the contractors never returned to site and the road is now impassable.

The development forced the youths to register their displeasure by holding what they tagged pool party on the road.

President of the Ochetoha K’Idoma Youth Wing, Comrade Obande Gidoen, while speaking at the pool party, called on the contractors, Rockbridge, to return to site since they have been mobilized by the federal government.

Politics / Highlights Of Peter Obi's Rallies In Lagos, Kaduna, Uyo, Others (video/pix) by owukpa(m): 12:37pm On Oct 01, 2022

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzsxmWY9aJM
Supporters of the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, on Saturday defied all odds to stage a massive rally in Lagos and other parts of the country.

The supporters popularly known as Obi-dients, defied the warning by authorities to march in solidarity for Peter Obi and his running mate, Datti Ahmed.

In Lagos, the supporters defied the early morning downpour amid tight security to hold the rally.

Major streets and roads were taken over by the campaigners, thereby causing gridlock in the nation's commercial hub.

Similarly, in Kaduna State, supporters of Obi dared the state governor, Nasir El-Rufai to hold rallies across major towns of the state.

From Kaduna town to Zaria and other neighboring towns, supporters of Obi in their thousands could be seen dancing and jubilating along the road.

The story is not different in Akwa Ibom State as supporters of the Labor Party presidential candidate who are mostly youths, held a major rally in Uyo, the state capital.
