There is a direct flight from Amsterdam to Vancouver using KLM. I think you should be able to get a train to Nainamo. You can also check online as well.

The route via KLM is Lagos-Amsterdam-Vancouver.

Yes you will have to go and clear your luggage after collecting your study permit you will also need to take the luggage to the place for the next flight after which they will use their machine to check your hand luggage please remove any oily substance or sharp object from hand luggage as they aren’t allowed.

It varies in the officer you get to meet as the point of entry . At my Poe in Toronto, I was only asked for my letter of admission and tuition deposit and he printed my study permit and work permit for coop and that was all.

My friend used Ethiopian airlines in August and did not need any transit Visa. However her layover was at Addis Ababa before she continued to Toronto. Maybe any other person that used the Dublin route may advise you better.

No, you don't need a transit visa. This was my route as well last week. In short, you aren't coming down from the aeroplane in Dublin most likely refuel and maintenance check.

You don't really have to, I wasn't asked at the POE in Toronto however it is always good to prepare.

What type of account is the personal bank statement you submitted, is it a fixed deposit? I feel they refused unjustly if it's a normal account and you have more than 10k cad in it plus they are even funding your monthly expenses... Sorry about it. I had this type of refusal and nothing was in my GCMS Notes other than the reasons for refusal.

Application declined 18th August 2021.
Timeline:
Application submitted April 26th 2021 (PhD with full funding). Also submitted my personal bank statement (not MBS).
NSE request May 7. Ignored it and went with normal route.
Upfront medical passed june 25th.
Eligibility review always read "in progress..."

Reason for refusal: We are not convinced you will be able to pay the tuition fee. Also, you do not have sufficient finance for your accompanying family member to Canada.

P.S: My full funding covered both tuition and monthly expenses. I also submitted my account statement indicating that I can pay for my miscellaneous expenses. I did not include that anyone is accompanying me. Infact in my IMM form, I specifically selected "no" to this question.
Obviously, they did not do a thorough review.
I'm awaiting my notes.

Its not really about Ethiopian airline per se even though I tried to look around and still saw students from other airlines. Its good that you have the letter of support from school for travel. I dont have that and that may have contributed to it, but I had my enrollment letter. I will advise that if you can reach out by calling to CBSA Officers or by mail. please try to do that. I think its a new development and you may rea;lly not find anyone specific to the airline. I also read here sometime last week that people where sent back but those people were actually to resume in September which doesn't apply to You nor I.

This thing that I am reading about Ethiopian airlines not allowing people to board until physical classes start in Sept is quite frightening because my flight is scheduled for next week.

I started classes in May and the semester runs till August. In addition, the Prof. I am doing research with is expecting me for research at the lab. I have verification of enrolment and also letter of support from the school for travel. I am fully vaccinated but I still booked for 3 days quarantine to avoid all this kind of mess.

Asides @oyinluv, has anyone here traveled with ethiopian airlines recently and had this issue. Cus it will be really devastating if they don't allow me board.

Based on what I read hear about Ethiopian airlines previously here, the experiences had been positive and I don't why this.

So sorry about your experience. I think it applies to other airlines too not just Ethiopian Airline. It's the new rule that you can't fly earlier than 4 weeks to your school resumption, so I heard.
Some people had similar experience. They were denied boarding at the airport.

That one did not follow o, i did not pay for the 3days I only booked for it with the intention that if they said I should do the 3days then I will just go for it. And even at the check-in stand at Ethiopian airline, I was still asked for it despite the official there seeing that I am fully vaccinated with my vaccination card and the QR Code on it.

Hi so I just wanted to advice those that may want to travel this month to consider rescheduling their flight. I was scheduled to fly with Ethiopian airline to Vancouver today and I have even started my class online since January which hasn’t been easy but because I really do not see the need for that mandatory quarantine even though they still asked today at the airport despite the fact that I am fully vaccinated since 22nd June . In short avoid Ethiopian airlin me if you can. Let it be 1month before physical class start in September before one can travel or one can ask the school. Really painful experience

Unless you are family members, I do not think the government of Canada will allow you to share quarantine costs or hotel room. And even at that, there is additional cost charged for each other member of the family - children inclusive - maybe not at the same rates as the principal traveller but definitely, not free.
